Songs I Wake Up To

Do you every just have mornings when you wake up with a song in your head and wonder where the "H" did it come from? Or why you always seeem to have a song blaring in your noggin' as soon as you wake up? Happens to me all the time. So I have decided to keep track of all those songs and post them here.

Todays song: I Would Do Anything For You - Foster the People

Check 'em out, your gonna love 'em.

(I also recommend Houdini and Pumped Up Kicks)

I Apologize (for my lack of posting)

I am pretty sure every blog has a post like this. The "Oh-my-goodness-I-have-been-so-busy-sorry-for-my-lack-of-posting" speal. I get. I truely suck at blogging. Let us just accept it and move on.

Alas, I am not about to cover the last year of my life to catch you up. Yes, I am a bits like that. (Yes, I just said bits, get over it. I could have said the real word.) Let's just say this past year has been full of school, a job that I really despise, paying off my extraneous debt (credit cards and car) and figuring out what I want to do when I grow up. The last one may never happen. I have adult A.D.D. or something. Oh, and I have put myself on a diet. At this very moment, I have lost 9 lbs. My body just doesn't want to give me the last pound. Damn you body! Don't worry, I plan on making it pay.

It has been awhile...

So like my post title says, it has been awhile since I blogged. It hasn't been because I have had nothing in my life going on but sadly it has been because I haven't had a computer. I know, I know how could I possibly live in the 21st century and not have a computer. Let me tell you, it has been TOUGH! But alas, this problem has been solved. My parents got me a laptop for Christmas. How nice, right? They took pity on me since I am going back to school. Yes, you heard me correctly. Tawna is going back to school. (Please hold the cheers and applause until the end.) I'm excited but not ready to work 40 hours a week while taking 14 credit hours.

Hello social suicide.

(Insert your applause here.) (Way to go, social suicide) (Wahoo! Tawna finally picked a major)

Here are some pictures of some of the things that happened over the last 8 months.

Some punk broke into my car...

Still volunteering with Big Brothers Big Sisters

Family vacation to Sun Valley, ID

Yeah, so you know

Man, it has been awhile since I was on here last. Let’s re-cap the last 3 weeks.

In March I was able to launch rockets!! How cool is that? I haven’t done that since I was in middle school. Of course it was pink and black polka dots and was “painted” with a permanent marker and some paint I had lying around. Don’t judge me. You will go to extreme measures for decorating when you have no time. I was pretty proud that I remembered how to put one together and that it actually didn’t fall apart. Well, not until it landed in a tree. Then the poor thing was ruined. But it was fun while it lasted and I got pictures of it. I have to thank Baylee for putting up with my childish outbursts of glee when I was building it and when I launched it.

Holi, The Festival of Colors was also in March and I was super excited to go. The festival was at the Sri Sir Radha Krishna Temple in Spanish Fork. Thousands of people were there and ready to throw chalk all over each other. Again, I have to thank Baylee for putting up with my childish outbursts of glee. She really didn’t want to get dirty but that was really impossible. We actually were only mildly covered with chalk, if you can believe. I had purple boogers for about a day. Gross!

This month, I went to The Ting Tings concert for my birthday! Thanks Chris, it was an awesome gift. They were great and I had a great time. I hadn’t been to a show in years. It was at In The Venue and we had perfect “seats”. I even got a video of her singing my favorite song. At least the chorus since that is what people at work tease me for singing.

I started coaching my soccer team and we had a game this past Monday. We lost 4-1 but I had fun. I hope the kids had fun too. I was bombarded with “When can I go in? I really want to go in. When are you going to put me in? I will play anywhere, can you put me in?” I forgot how kids that age act. I can only play 7 kids at a time and I have 12 total. Meaning that 5 have to sit out. AHHH!! Only 7 more games to go….We need to work on dribbling and passing so that is what I am going to focus on in practice. If anyone wants to come, games are on Monday’s and Saturday’s.

So that has been my life so far…

Music is my boyfriend

I love music. No question about it. If you want some cool music, hit me up. As I was listening to my music I decided that there are just some songs that make me happy. They make me happy for many reasons. The beat makes me want to dance, the lyrics are catchy, they bring back good memories, or whatever it is, I just love listening to the song. So I compiled a list of 20 songs that name me happy.

  1. Passion Pit: Sleepyhead
  2. Mates of State: Goods
  3. Bob Marley: Jammin'
  4. Amos Lee: Keep it Loose, Keep it Tight
  5. Bon Iver: Brackett, WI
  6. Jens Lekman: Postcards to Nina
  7. Los Campesinos: My Year in Lists
  8. Neko Case: People Got a Lot of Nerve
  9. Oasis: She's Electric
  10. Pinback: Fortress
  11. The Postal Service: Be Still My Heart
  12. Regina Spektor: Better
  13. Santogold: Lights Out
  14. Sigur Ros: Gobbledigook, Fljotavik, Hoppipola
  15. StellaStar*: My Coco

Birthday, Life Plans and Pranks

So, I celebrated my 26th brithday last Monday! I can't believe that I am this old. I remember being young and thinking that I would never make it 20. Needless to say, I made it to 20 and beyond.
Since I just keep getting older I figure I should start making some life plans. I currently volunteer with Big Brother Big Sisters and love it. My "little" Ali is so fun! But I feel like I could do more in the community so I have decided to coach a Recreation League soccer team! I am super excited to start. I may be getting in over my head but what better way to know than to jump in feet first. Also, I volunteered for the day with a organization at work called Sealants for Smiles. This program goes to low income schools and gives free teeth check-ups and applies sealants to kids teeth who may not get the chance to go to the dentist. I had so much fun and the kids were so awesome. Some of them had never been to the densist before. This little experience got me re-thinking that I need to get a degree in dental hygene. There are so many ways I could give back to the community if I were a dental hygienist. So, I am going to start working towards that.

Last night was pretty funny. The guys that live next door to us are fun to mess with. Baylee found some Pop-it's in her closet so we decided that we would throw them against the boys front door. Mind you, this was at 11:30 pm. At first they didn't do anything but then the next thing we know, they are opening the door and throwing water at us. I recorded it on my camera and it is pretty funny!

I can't make it go the right direction. Sorry!
