Had to do it...

I had to do it...we went to the CHEESIEST pumpkin patch ever at Westminster Mall (EW...ghetto). It looked more like a carnival when we drove by so I was over it, I think my words to Justin were, "He'll never remember it anyway." Well...right as we were driving away I saw the hay bales and actual pumpkins (not rides or bounce house) and changed my mind. Ha Ha. Justin just loves my wish washy ways. Jackson of course has a rad pumpkin sweatsuit and looked quiet comfortable lounging amongst his fellow "punkins."

Happy Halloween tomorrow to everyone! Jackson is a dragon, but hates the costume. I took him to the Fall Festival at my school and he fussed the whole time, I was a princess to match my dragon. We're going to carve the last Big Mac pumpkin (remember the ones we grew) and we're going to put Jackson in the jack-o-lantern tomorrow for pictures sake and pass out candy. Boo!

p.s. Jackson got to watch his first regular season Lakers game! Auntie Chelsea outfitted him with his nice Lakers jersey...hard to find, she found it in Compton. Gangster baby.

Vegas Wedding!!

On Saturday morning we dropped off Jackson at Justin's parents house (Thanks Butch and Stretch) and drove out to Vegas with Heather and John for Jill and Alan's wedding. Jill was my first California friend I made from Fred's and we worked there together for 5 years with Heather too.

Jill and Alan chose to avoid a huge wedding and have the best Vegas wedding I could ever imagine. They got married at the Little White Chapel in the same room Brit got married. Elvis sang them down the aisle (he was surely on crack and not the Elvis they picked out the weekend before when they came to take their pictures at the Las Vegas boneyard of old signs...amazing idea). There was a grannie who looked like Sofia from the Golden Girls on the organ in the back too. The vows were actually really sentimental and sweet, and Elvis cut the mood and made everyone laugh too.

After we had a great time at their reception at Border Grill in Mandalay Bay with a taco man, cupcake tower of amazing cupcakes, and a portrait session from their amazing photographer Olga of Dott Photography. Alan and Jill designed gift boxes with Elvis glasses for the pictures and a poker chip that said "Take a Gamble."

Following dinner and a few drinks we had an outfit change and headed to Palazzo in the Venetian for dancing and well...more drinks. It was so amazing. We laughed the whole time! I got to wear a fun dress (kinda prom looking) and had so much fun with Justin who truly is my partner in crime. Felt good to come home to baby Jackson though, missed him so much!

Congrats again Jill and Alan and I am posting some of the great pictures from Dott Photography (http://blog.dottphotography.com/?p=461) because they take my breath away.

Hey Big Guy!

Jackson went for his 8 week appointment with Daddy today. He was a trooper as several shots were given and she says his smiling and eye tracking is right on track. He is 23.75 in. long (75% percentile) and he is....well...off the charts in weight for his age 15 lbs. 8 oz. (what is that? over 100%??)

I KNOW HE'S BIG...now I know what parents of freaky tall kids feel like ("He's so tall, does he play basketball?"...you know what I mean). I've been hearing how gigantic he was since the second I delivered and I just want to scream. He's still a little baby to me (fat rolls and folds included). The pediatrician suggested cutting the amount of food from 4 oz. to 2.5 oz. and not feeding him when he cries sometimes. Trust me I try not to, but he is HUNGRY. I am going to try to help him learn to love his pacifier.

Plus side...he is wearing all his cute 3 month old clothes early, I was getting a bit tired of the newborn ones. And the biggest plus...he is the most snugly baby ever!

Motivation

Each day when I'm teaching my bevy of 4 year olds I can't wait to get home to see my little man. He is totally smiling now, even in his sleep when I whisper goodbye to him in the morning. I love seeing him change from this tiny little newborn (okay...tiny to me, I know he's big) to a little boy. Tomorrow is his 8 week check-up so we'll see what the doc tells Justin. It's getting easier every day.

Lately...

Lately I have had little to no time to even sit down with my beloved Mac. I went back to work last Thursday and I did not cry! I cried on Wednesday knowing it was our last morning together for a bit and I carried Jackson around ALL day long. Thursday went by fast and Christy (bless her heart) had all the teachers bring me photos of Jackson every 20 minutes which made me so happy to see his chubby cheeks.

Justin and I have had a few wonderful outings without Jackson as well. We went to Go Fest with Brad Paisley and other country singers and it was almost like, well Justin put it like we were "dogs that had been caged up for a long time." Dave watched Jackson, while Justin and I danced and drank probably a few too many beers. The people watching alone at country concerts makes me happy. I ALMOST got a picture with the man in overalls, one strap down, no shirt underneath, spilling Coors Light down his chest but he looked like he was going to puke on me so I snapped him alone. I'll post pictures eventually--they are on my smaller digital camera I left at school.

We also got to go to the UCLA vs. ORE game last Saturday at the Rose Bowl. Carrie and Randy watched Jackson for a whopping 12 hours. It was an amazing gesture and we are so thankful to have friends that will take on that task. The tailgating is my favorite part of the game. We had the full spread, and Dave cooked breakfast (bacon, eggs, hashbrown, and sausage) while we enjoyed mimosas. Natalie even ran over for a visit while she was at the game for Tim's birthday. The game was a bust (UCLA lost) but it was really nice to get out. I do think of Jackson all the time when I'm away, but honestly it feels nice to do a few things like we used to do before baby.

School is CRAZY. Christy keeps me sane. They (all my 4 almost 5 year olds) are wild...22 boys 7 girls. But, the day goes by very fast and when I get done working I rush home to do my other job...MOM.

Jackson is still super gassy so I took him to the doctor and she suggested Dr. Browns bottles (like them) and Gentle Ease formula (trying it). The best part was she weighed him...so at 6 weeks 5 days he was...drumroll please...14 lbs. 12 oz. We have decided to only have one child now since we will never be able to afford to feed two. Ha ha. Love my big boy, and he smiles for us now sometimes, especially when he sees himself in the mirror. And it does...melt my heart (seems that is what all blogger moms are saying these days). We did get Jackson's costume and it is the cutest dragon costume ever. Carrie and I were dying when we put him in it for the first time. Can't wait to wear it on the 31st! Until next post when ever that may be...xoxo

Baby Huzar!

So...keeping this secret has been a doozy but I am so so proud that Carrie and Randy are expecting a baby boy (Jake) till April 9th. They just found out the sex this morning and are clear of the first trimester finally. It seems so crazy that almost 7 years ago Carrie and I were moving into our first little apartment in Newport Beach and riding down the hill to the beach on the handlebars since we were too poor to buy two bikes, we shared one. I have been honored to be her friend since college and have had many a night laughing till we cried and getting into trouble. She is the most amazing friend, wife, and auntie...I can't wait to have my best friend by my side as she becomes a mommy!!!! Yeah! A best friend for Jackson!

p.s. It really is "Baby Thomason" but for most people that know me....they know Carrie as Huzar so I thought you'd all recognize this faster. Baby Jake Thomason is going to be so cute!

Happy Birthday Slim!

Happy birthday to my mom, aka Slim Cheryl. Throughout the past year I feel like I've grown even closer to you than before, which I didn't think was possible. You are an inspiration to me and I believe that you are truly the most selfless, patient, understanding person that I have ever met. I love you unconditionally and forever.

Jackson Jacob

My mom came over last weekend and we had some QT time on the couch, drinking wine, ordering take-out, and having lots of photo sessions. We are very new at this photography thing, but Jackson is so charismatic it was fun getting all his funny faces. :) I miss her already.
