VROOM VROOM VROOM

A couple of weekends ago our Young Woman of the Ward hosted a Movie Night fundraiser.  They had all the young kids of the Ward make their own card board box cars to wear, display and race.  The Young Woman had a bake sale and to tell you the truth that was the only reason we were headed there... Come on... $10 a for a plate of cookies, cakes, and any type of goodies you could possibly imagine.  Oh yeah.... My husband seemed to get a little bored????  I turned around; imagine that; he picked out his sweets and left.  Where did he go?  To watch the kids during their race.....

The kids all made the coolest cars.  The races were so much fun.  They were all so creative.

Our Relief Society President sure did represent her families 4X4 well.

Brian was soooo jealous.  He had to be involved.  After the children all had their races the adults wanted their turn.  One of the children in the Ward was nice enough to let Brian try their car out.  Although the biggest one still was too small.

Last but not least..... one of the dads and Brian had their own race...... I have to admit.  For those of us that were their; I think we are were laughing so hard we couldn't breathe.  It was so hilarious to see two grown men race between the race track made up with the metal chairs..... Each other trying to beat one another by tipping over the chairs hoping one of them would fall and that way they would win....

Thank you to the Deer Valley 1st Ward Young Woman for having such an entertaining fundraiser.  It was a night we won't foget....

It's Getting Warm

Well.... The time is getting near.  The time that is that everyone here in the Phoenix area have been warning us about.  It's starting to get warm. This weekend we spent a lot of time in the pool.  Brian and Vincent have been swimming 62 laps every other day while Raven gets in a few herself.  Me,?  Well.  I had a lesson on Saturday myself.  I now am happy to say for the first time ever I am able to hold my breathe under water.  I only got one lap in but for me..... That is a major accomplishment.  We are all training with some friends in our Ward for the Payson Triathlon in June.... Wish us all luck... The running and biking I have down.  The swimming.... Not so much.

Vincent and his friend swimming on Saturday morning.

Raven was too excited and wanted to jump in with the boys.

I know it seems like this picture is a blob. But I had to add it.  It is actually Raven swimming right over Vincent while his is sitting on a chair at the deep end of the pool.  I thought it was really funny.  She kicked him in the head while swimming over him.

TRIATHLETE

Okay?  If that is even a word.  But Vincent is now a Triathlon Star.  As I said before in an earlier post..... We have been training for his first Triathlon.  The Boy Scouts host an annual Triathlon every year 3 hours South West of Phoenix.  On May 30th Vincent traveled with our Bishop, one of his Scout leaders and two of the boys in his Youth Group.  After training for over a month with Vincent and another young man they headed down to Pima, Arizona.
They started their trip with a tour of the  Gila River Temple.  Then of course they were so excited to attend a youth dance followed by a Devotional for the boys attending and competing in the Triathlon.
Saturday morning Brian and I woke up at 2:30 am ( I don't recommend it) to make our 3 hour drive to Pima.  Realizing the farther South we went the colder it got and we were wishing we had brought more and warmer clothes for the 35 degrees weather.
We were so excited and pumped when we finally found the boys and their leaders.  Wow!  with over 400 boys participating it was pretty hard to find them. There were tents, trailers, bikes and boys everywhere.  With 254 in just Vincent's age group!

Justin and Brian waiting for the boys to get their chips and numbers.  Justin was the leader of the cheering section for Pack 625!

3 out of the four Triathletes...... They all did such a great job!

Youth Leader.... Brother Woods who showed the boys how it's done.... Came in 6th (or 8th) place over all in the whole Triathlon.  What a great leader the boys have.

Vincent finishing strong..... He took 14th place out of 254 Boy Scouts in his age group.  Not bad at all for his first Triathlon..... He is already training (now recruited us) for another Triathlon 2 hours North this time.

We were so very proud of our very own Bishop who decided at the last minute while feeling a little under the weather to compete.  He not only competed but he finished strong with a smile on his face looking like it wasn't a challenge what so ever.  Mind you he admitting while coming up to the finish line that that was the most he has ran, biked in a very very long time.
It was a great Saturday that ended up being pretty warm with the weather and smiles across the faces of the boys in the Deer Valley Pack 625!
Thank you to Brother Woods and Bishop Case whom took the boys on this adventure that they will never forget..

Our precious athlete that was beyond tired.... oh but wait.  Not too tired to attend the Stake Dance that night with his friends.... Oh we luv having a teenager.

Mama's new wheels

As a family we have started riding road bikes.  Brian got a new fancy dancy one for his birthday last year which at that time I started riding his old one.  By old I mean the road bike is as old as I am.  It is a great Trek that has lasted from or should I say through my Mother in Law, my Sister in Law, Brian and now me.  We all learned, rode and trained on the same bike.  Brian surprised me on the 24th with my very own new Road Bike.... I must say.  IT IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I luv this bike and have had so much fun riding it.  It is not only is great exercise but it is great to spend time with both lil man and Brian.  Lil man has decided to compete in a Triathlon.  Therefore it came in handy for me to have my own bike to help Vincent train for his first Triathlon.  I have already put quite a bit of miles on it and LUV it.  Tomorrow I am going for my first night ride with some freinds.  It is an enjoyable exercise that I get to do with my friends.  Even if we do get a flat and I fall down every now and then.......I can't wait for our next ride.

Stake Conference....... Deer Valley

So?  Do you remember when I said that we almost got out of town before the Stake President called?  Well; this now is the time.  The Stake President asked Brian whom was just baptized two weeks ago to speak in Stake Conference.  For those of you that do not know what Stake Conference is.... It is when ALL of the Wards in the Stake (several Wards in an area make up a Stake) meet at one building for two hours.  We have speakers and muscial numbers for the whole two hours.  So pretty much about 1500 people will meet in the building together or watch via broadcast.
After the first hour of wonderful speakers it was time for Brian.  I would have to say that Brian gave a most heart warming felt talk about his conversation to being LDS.  He spoke for about 10 minutes.  At some points had people laughing out loud.... Thank you at my expense and at some points some people who felt the spirit had some tears.
Its not an everyday thing to speak in Stake Conference.... We we honored as a family and felt so luvd that Brian was able to share his story and our families story with so many people.  He did such an amazing job.

Deer Valley Middle School Track Meet

We are so proud of our Track Star.  Vincent along with the Deer Valley Middle School Track team competed in Anthem on the 17th of April for the Conference title.  We are getting somewhat used to the weather?  Brian left in the middle of the track meet because it was so hot to buy a fan that sprits out water and bring back the umbrella that I keep in my car to block the sun.
Deer Valley Middle School boys took Second place while the girls team maintained their undefeated title.  We can't wait until next year and what that brings for our track star!!!!

Diaz Wedding in Santa Barbara

We headed back to Santa Barbara on April 8th. We didn't even make it out of town before we received a call from the Stake President (for those of you that don't know; he is pretty much incharge, over sees a variety of Wards (congregations)) asking Brian to speak in Stake Conference in two weeks.
Well after what seemed like such a very long road trip we finally arrived in Lompoc to Stay with my Auntie and Uncle.  We decided that since we have stayed with two of my sisters, my mom, one sister left to stay with and my dad bless his heart really doesn't have enough room. We opted to stay with my Auntie and Uncle..... Yes, I for some reason have picked up the habit that annoys my sisters and Brother of calling my Aunt and Uncle just Auntie and Uncle.  No names following.....

Friday we spent the morning running, breakfast with my dad and haircuts.  Apparently Lompoc has a great old school Barber.... Just an FYI for any of you looking..... :)  We finally made our way down to Santa Barbara and our first stop was of course the Orthodontist..... Vincents teeth still looked good and in a couple of months we will be able to get the retainers.  Woo HOO!

And now off to the dress rehearsal.  Alice Keck Park was beautiful at that time.  I ran into some friends from church that happened to be there.  We ended the evening with rehearsal dinner in Goleta and a lot of laughs.

All of us Diaz kids together.... It is so much fun spending time with my siblings.  I luv them all so very much in their own little ways.  We are all so different yet in some ways very similar.  They are just so darn beautiful.

Wow!!!!! Saturday April 10, 2010..... The Diaz/Brunasso Wedding Day.

We started the day with breakfast at Cajun Kitchen in dowtown Santa Barbara with Lisa Roger and Isabel.... (Brians sister and Brother in law and Goddaughter) Which might I add Isabel is getting so incredibly big and such a delight. Wow she is so incredilby cute and adorable.

We all are waiting patiently.  Me..... not so patient.  I am holding the rings.  Wow.  The rings?  Me.  To tell you the truth, as Brian said like anything was really going to happen.  But honestly with my luck..... it would.  It was so nice to have us all right there together.

All of the guys were smiles including my most very handsome dad in the wedding party.  Waiting for the Bride to walk down the aisle was nerving and yet fun.  Brian didn't appreciate me talking to my little brother about passing gas trying to make him smile and not have such a serious face while waiting for the Bride.  Hey???  I am the big sister.  I am always up for the chance to dis my little brother whom never misses an opportunity to remind me of how OLD I am......

Baby Q waiting patiently!!! He is so adorable and I of course luvd every moment playing with him....

My handsome lil man escorting the Mother of The Bride down the aisle.... He is so handsome and did such a great job....

It was such a beautiful ceremony.  I can not believe that my little Matty Matt is married.... It was a wonderful day in Alice Keck Park and we had such a wonderful time during the wedding and reception.
                                            CONGRATS TO MATTHEW AND ERICA!!!!!!!!!!!
WE LUV YOU SO VERY MUCH.

The trip would not be complete unless we went to my favorite place.  I luv and miss Santa Barbara.... It is so beautiful.
To those of you (pretty much all of you) we are sorry that we did not get to see or visit you.  Some of you we stopped by but you were not available :(.  Just know.... If you are reading this please know that we DO luv and miss you so much.  We hope to come for a vacation trip and not have any appointments to keep other than hanging out with family and friends.
