For those who are England fans, be even more thankful that you din watch.. it was such a lacklustre performance by the England team.. they do not seem to be a squad made up of Champions League winners (Liverpool), EPL champions(Chelsea), FA cup winners (Arsenal), european top dogs (bayern and real),Man Utd or one european footballer of the yr(Michael Owen).. they look as though they are made up of MIllwall, Bury, Cambridge..
How could they lose to Northern Ireland?.. when i can't even remember any of their footballers playing in Europe.. at most EPL clubs, Aaron Hughes, Maik Taylor, Keith Gillespie..
the England team did not take the game seriously.. looking at the pace of the game in the first half.. look as though they were walking with the ball.. thinking they cld hav a WALKover..
Yes, they had more than 70% of possession. but wads the use of possession when u hav no goals to show for? It did not help that Rooney lost his cool juz b4 half time.. almost earning himself a red card.. in doing so, Northern Ireland did exactly wad they wanted - unsettling Rooney..
Northern Ireland were patient and were finally rewarded with a goal.. not exactly a classic one.. but juz a lapse in the England defence. perhaps they did not hav the experience of John Terry and gary Neville, both injured. but at least there's Ferdinand. but i'm thinking that he plays better for Man Utd than for England.
Anyway.. some terrible subsitutions were made. in trying to improve the game. Joe Cole coming on for Shaun Wright-Phillips.. was a not bad one though.. Wright-Phillips did not realli put in a good performace, perhaps over tiring himself in the first half. Beckham keeps spreading the ball to him. tt's all. the only way England attacked. juz like how they scored against Wales. Next hargreaves was brought on. HE doesn't seem to be a good player. losing possession everytime he touches the ball. failing to control it.. Defoe did nothing.. he can't be seen touching the ball.
Those who started did not fair any better. Owen had many chances, but he missed all the headers. Perhaps it was his first competitive game this season. an international game. not even club level. Gerrard and Lampard shouldn't be playing together. both hav similar styles.. same key role in their respective clubs. Rooney shouldn't be played as a striker.. should be played in the "hole" behind the strikers. juz like Alex Ferguson has successfully done. Tt's y he's scoring for manutd and not England. time to change England coach i guess. if not, no England at world cup next yr. Rooney can't be a star juz like Ronaldo predicted. no chance. ya. see how. 2 more games. at home to Poland and Austria. got to win both. or else. tata.
