back to poverty rem the post i had on Niger's poverty.. now there's ways to solve! environment - The report(World Resources) presents five case studies to reinforce its argument that environmental protection and poverty alleviation go hand in hand. -in Namibia, handing communities the power to conserve wildlife led to increased incomes from employment and tourism, and a recovery in wildlife numbers -in India's Maharashtra state, better management of water resources through measures like tree planting removed dependence on water imports and improved incomes -in northern Tanzania, restoring traditional land management with plants improved diets, raised incomes and brought back wildlife -in several Indonesian islands, training local people to document and report illegal logging protected forests and allowed the growth of activities such as river fishing which depend on trees for their sustainability -in Fiji, encouraging communities to put quotas on shellfish catches returned stocks to a sustainable condition, ensuring long-term incomes. economic - trade politics - good governance/g8 summit science and tech - Scientific and technical capabilities determine the ability to provide clean water, good health care, adequate infrastructure and safe food. Developed countries should reflect on the price of investing in building the capacity of developing countries to prevent or reduce the impacts of natural disasters, compared to the huge costs of international aid after the disasters have occurred hospital checkup today..! hahah today had another checkup.. did the usual stuff. xray then see doc. then change dressing.. today diff. i brought a camera! . so u all can share the joy with me .. hahah!

me and the superstar contestant silver..
me and my sec sch classmate. National Day yays.. i had kinda diff national day this yr as compared to last yr.. last yr i went to watch the festival of fireworks, went to watch the ndp live.. this yr.. nv.. nothing to be excited about. hhaa. but then in the morning. my family and i rushed to teck ghee cc in hope of catching amos performing in his sch band ( chong boon secondary school). we reached there at 9. performance ended liao. diao. they had only performed for 15 mins frm 8. it was cut short by the organisers. i met mr leng. he was the conductor.. he gave me a seat. sat with the band. haha. teck ghee was actually having some national day celebration. patronised by PM Lee. guest of honour i guess. haa. talked to mr leng, tooked pic with him. hah. so strange in aj. nv did both. left around 10 plus..
National Day celebrations (part 2) i went to SJI in the evening.. watched their Annual Anniversary Parade. the usual march past and also witnessing the handing over of leadership to the nxt yr's batch.. haha. it was fun to watch. meeting up with old frens. i managed to walk with my crutches to the sch field. seeing the new DM, faeliq leading the band for a march. he managed to catch the mace at his first throw. sign of things to come. GOod things.hhaah. had reception. saw Brother Michael. he saw me. he pointed to my feet and gave me a thumbs up sign.. haha. signalling 'well-done'. took one or two servings of food. went for band toast. and after that besurai. hard to besurai with crutches though. haha. then went home. count down for National Day. k not raelli. one of the pics taken.. Guard of Honour march past haah. had lots of fun today.. in my sec sch and jc. ha. firstly in the morning, at 5.30. the food com of the class, (seekie, alvin, vanessa, shiqi, hseuh yu, huizi, soo teng) came over to my place. we starting preparing for the National Day food competition. so they prepared the Prapiahs. folding each one carefully, with juz the right amount and making sure the fillings dun spill out. so we managed to bake 2 batches.. by the time it was 7.20 am liao.. and we still hav a few batches to go. so they brought my toaster oven to sch.. haha. luckily it was raining. coz there was no assembly, so we won't be late. and secondly, we wld be using the classroom for picnic.. and everythng else. dressing the mascot (ah Boon) up.. haha. so from the time we reached sch to the time the judge came, the food com baked the prapiahs, decorated a lil here and there. and the mascot com did their dressing up. haha. i can't really describe how it looks like.. but there's a pic.. ![]() the thing in the durian on the right is the prapiah. the thing on the left is the actual durian flesh. in the prapiah, there's pineapple, egg, ham (western), taukwa, chicken floss (chinese) to represent the diff races. wrapped with prata skin (indian) and layed on banana leaves(malay). also the durian represented the esplanade. haha. Ah boon was also representative of the esplanade ( marked by the thorns on his head) and the diff races. malay - songkot and sarong. indian - putu. chinese - himself. western - long pants, sweater, tie. haa. red shirt as a Singaporean with the crescent and 5 stars. symbolise the flag.. hhaa. at the end. we had snack time,. then went to audi. hear National Day speech from Mr Tharman and watched a Singaporegaga.com video. haha "one dollar, one dollar, hello one dollar." lols. only AJcians geddit.ahha. not bad for a celebration though. depends on wad each class did. coz at sch level we missed out everything due to the rain. band performance, eternal loop performance, march past. lots of stuff. hah. anyway. they said our class would be winning something.. either the mascot or the food. hard to guess. anyway. it's still our class! wheee..
