Pasta with Ham ***MBP***

Pasta is an all-time favourite. I love it for its varied shapes and its succulence when it is served in a platter drowned in white sauce or when accompanied with sun-dried tomatoes.

I saw this at Happy Cook's abode!
Though the pasta didn't contain sun-dried tomatoes nor was it drowned in white sauce, it fascinated me all the more for the presence of ham in it.

I used all the ingredients, except for the use of peas.

This one-pot dish of pasta goes to Pavani, who is hosting MBP this month.

Bake me a Pasta!

Pat-a-pasta, pat-a-pasta,
Baker's mum!
Bake us a pasta
As fast as you can,

Mix it and cheese it
And bake it for us,
And there will be plenty
For us and you.

BAKED PENNE PASTA

350 g Penne Pasta
200ml Chicken/vegetable Stock
1 Onion (thinly sliced)
3 Capsicums (1 yellow, 1 red, 1 green)-chopped and deseeded
3 or 4 Tomatoes (chopped and deseeded)
200 g Cheese (diced or grated) plus extra for garnishing
1/4 tsp each of basil, thyme and parsley
2tbsp Milk
Salt and pepper (to taste)

Cook pasta in enough water with salt and drain.Add a little oil to the cooking water for it not to stick.

Saute the sliced onions and when they turn translucent, add the chopped tomatoes. When the tomatoes are soft and tender, add in the capsicums and salt and mix well. Cover and let this cook on low heat for at least 15 minutes and then add the chicken/veg stock and simmer for 5 minutes. Add this sauce to the cooked pasta and transfer to a oven proof dish. Stir in the diced cheese. Pour in the milk. Now garnish with the dried herbs and sprinkle grated cheese. Bake this at 425 F or until the desired golden brown is obtained.

This is off to the monthly event Click

This is also on its way to Presto Pasta Nights
