Christmas Fun 2008!!!

Here are some pictures of Christmas vacation fun!

Our niece, Kayleigh (6) and nephew, Aidan (4), they had a blast on Christmas!
We ALL had fun playing with their new toys!!!

Here is Stan and Kayleigh setting up the hopscotch...

Kristen, Stan, Kayleigh & Aidan playing with their racing cars... this track is awesome!

Belly Pic...21 Weeks and they continue to grow...I got a lovely head cold the day after Christmas so you will have to excuse the tired look...
Sunday after x-mas we went to the Ridgefield ice rink to take the kids skating for the first time. Stan was very excited as well as he has wanted to go ice skating for awhile now. I obviously went to watch and didn't skate with the twins :)

Donna (Meg's mom), CJ and Aidan...
After skating we headed back to CJ (Kristen's brother) and Meg's (sister in law) house to have chili and raucous good time...
Here is Meg, Aidan, CJ and Karen (Kristen's mom)
Kayleigh enjoyed taking a ride on Stan's foot...ah the job of Uncle Stan never stops!

Kristen's parents, Karen and Cliff, on the porch at CJ and Meg's house, they have an awesome view of the lake!

Lots of Movement

After our December ultrasound I realized what their moving around really felt like. Since then I can feel them moving a lot! On Friday, 12/26/08, I actually felt them move on the outside! I was feeling them move around and was rubbing the outside of my belly to try and calm them down when one of them kicked my hand! It was very exciting and kind of shocking as I realized what I was really feeling. Stan can feel them too now, although to him it seems very light right now. They seem much stronger to me obviously since I can feel them on the inside too. Of course every time I tell someone they are kicking and they try to feel it, they calm down :) I am beginning to think they just like the attention and the hands soothe them.

Our first Baby Shower

My sister in law, Meg, and my mom, Karen, threw Stan and I a wonderful baby shower while we were visiting in CT. We lucked out and had the shower on the one day that it wasn't snowing! It was a great shower with family and friends and we were so thankful for all those who could attend. Our little girls were definitely showered with love!

Daisy LOVES the snow!

We took Daisy out in the snow and much to our surprise she LOVES it!!! She can play fetch for hours and bounds and jumps around through the snow.

Winter Wonderland!

We decided to leave late Thursday night for our drive to CT as a snow storm was looming for Friday late morning. We drove through the night and arrived at Aunt Ginny & Uncle Pat's house in NJ about 2am. We were weary travelers, but arrived safe and sound to warm beds. We had a very nice breakfast with Aunt Ginny, Uncle Pat and Gramps before rushing off to CT to beat the snow! We arrived at 16 Marsh Rd just as the first snowflakes were falling. They came fast and furious and in no time we had about 8 - 12 inches. It was beautiful to watch the snow fall from the inside the warm house!!

And now what you have all be waiting for...

They are both GIRLS!!!!

Our December appointment had to be postponed one week due to me being in Georgia last week to teach training, but we had our monthly appointment today 12/15/08 and found out both of our "little beans" are girls! This visit was the level II ultrasound which they check all the body parts so we got to see a ton! We saw their heads, feet, hands, femurs, hearts, stomachs, bladders, spines, umbilical cords, faces and anything else you can see at this point (I am sure I am forgetting something we looked at). It was really neat as Judy, the ultrasound tech, pointed out everything to us. So far, so good, everything looks great!

They are actually sitting in a "T" shape with baby A facing up and down and baby B being transverse across the top. Baby A is VERY active and jumped and flipped around throughout the entire ultrasound. It is no wonder I have to pee all the time, she keeps jumping on my bladder! While Baby B is very calm, was moving her hands and feet but otherwise just seemed to be relaxing all stretched out. Both their heads are to the left right now, which made sense to me since I think the left side of my belly is more round than the right. I am sure that will change as they keep moving around.

They are both measuring the exact same, which they said is pretty unusual. Usually one is measuring a little bigger than the other, but as of right now with weight and length they are both measuring at the exact same date.

Here are some pictures the first with both, then one of A and one of B.

19 week Belly Pic

I know it has been a little while since I update the blog, but I really didn't have any new news to share. Here is a 19 week belly picture. We visit the doctor tomorrow morning and hopefully we will find out the genders of our little ones, if they cooperate... I am more excited to just see them since we haven't seen them in about 2 months!

However, I won't be posting the results till the 20th. We are fortunate to be be able to see both sets of parents together on the 20th so we want to wait and tell the grandparents first and then we will reveal the results to everyone else. Only a week to wait.

Overall I have been doing pretty well. There is some achiness each week which I assume is them growing, but nothing too terrible. For all of those who are asking I don't think I have felt them move yet, but since I really have no idea what I am supposed to be feeling I may have felt them and just assumed it was gas :)

The "what to expect when your expecting" book says that new moms sometime don't realize what they are feeling until 22-24 weeks. I will let you know when I can definitively say I felt them.

Baby Registry - #2

We went to Babies R Us on Sunday to get our registry started. Since there is no guarantee that I will be able to travel past January our family is throwing us a baby shower to celebrate with family and friends while we are in CT for x-mas. In a stroke of good luck Stan's parents will be in CT that weekend as well on their holiday visit to their office in Danbury. We are VERY excited that both sides of the family are able to be represented. Anyway, back to what I was going to say... since we are new parents and have found the whole registry process a little overwhelming, all you new, current or any age parents please check out the registry and let us know if you think we are missing something we should have. Or if there is something that you loved or found very useful please let us know! We appreciate all the help!

The long awaited Belly Shots...

I have had many request over the past couple months for belly pics for those of you who don't get to see me on a regular basis. Finally I got up the nerve to take some pics. Although I feel quite normal in real life, in pictures is a whole different story. They are not very flattering pics. This is 16 weeks or 4 months. I never understood counting in weeks before I was pregnant but now it really makes sense since every week brings new issues (things they never tell you before you get pregnant) and of course a bigger belly.

Baby Registry???

At the urging of family and friends Stan and I have started to think about our baby registry. For to-be-parents, with no previous children, the baby registry is quite overwhelming. How much of this stuff do we really need? What brand is the best? What what really works? What really doesn't work? We haven't even been to the store yet and our heads are already spinning. When you start to think about it, holy cow babies sure need a lot of "stuff". This makes the wedding registry look like a piece of cake. I did join a mothers of multiples group so hopefully they will be able to impart some wisdom on the trials and tribulations of two!

November Appointment

We had our November appointment on 11/13/08, which was 15 weeks. My doctor had originally said we wold probably have an ultrasound at every visit, but the doctor we saw decided not to do one. We were a little disappointed since we were used to getting to see the twins, but I guess we have been kind of spoiled to see them as much as we have. Most typical, one baby, pregnancies only get to see them once or twice. We did get to hear their heartbeats which the doctor said are both in the 150's and everything sounds great. I have been having lots of aches and pains (and the never ending nausea) which they assured me was totally normal and nothing to worry about. Our next appointment is December 15th. At this appointment we will have our level II ultrasound in which they will be checking the anatomy of the babies and if they cooperate we may be able to determine their genders. Everyone keeps asking if we are going to find out what they are or not, the answer is...we still have a month to decide :) We go back and forth constantly and probably won't make that decision until the last minute. Well, that is all the news we have to report.

11 week pictures

Here are the 11 week pictures. By this time they were definitely getting bigger and more baby like. You can see little hands and feet in these. The pics on the top are baby A and the ones on the bottom are baby B. I didn't know this before my appointment but the way they decide is baby A is always the one that is closest to the cervix. The picture of both of them is all of baby A on top and the butt of baby B. They didn't want to stay still for the doctor to get a good picture of both of them together. Baby B actually jumped right before she could get a good picture.

8 Week Pics

Here are the pictures from 8 weeks.

It's Twins!!!!!

By now I think everyone knows Stan and I are expecting TWINS!!! We finally told the rest of the aunts, uncles and cousins at Granddad Fischer's 80th birthday party in Houston, so I thought it was about time to start a blog to keep everyone updated along the way. Here are our 6 week ultrasound pics. This is the visit we found out we were having twins.
