Kennedy is taking piano lessons through the school district here. It's so nice. They even do the classes during school so it doesn't require any extra work on the parent's part and it only costs $30 for the whole school year. Kennedy was one of the top two in her class and played 3 different pieces, one of them she played with the other girl.
After the concert we had to all go to our favorite custard place, Kitts Frozen Custard and home of the Butter Burger, which is every bit as fattening as it sounds.

Underwear? Under here!
This is Caleb... my miracle of the month.
Underwear has been a major topic around here for the past month... potty training!
Caleb (who turned 3 in November) has had no interest in potty training. It has been killing me because Kennedy was potty trained by 2 1/2, Seth was potty-trained by Kennedy right after he turned 2, so for Caleb to be approaching 3 1/2 I was getting antsy. After a particulary unpleasant diaper change I had had enough. Off went the diaper, off went the pants, and he was half-naked for two days (you can't wet your pants if you're not wearing any!) It was the slickest potty-training experience I've ever had. Caleb had only 1 accident the whole potty training time. Plus, after day one, he didn't need to be reminded, he'd just run into the bathroom by himself when he needed to go. After a couple of days we tried the underwear and he did great (even running errands!) He stays dry through naps and the night which never happened before we started potty-training. He's a little miracle, and I'm so glad!
This is a "congrats" package my mom sent for him with underwear, words, pants and all.
Speaking of underwear, I don't know what it is, but Lucie loves putting things on her head (you'd think she'd let me keep cute headbands in then... not so much... I think it has to be her idea for her to like it).
She loves to help me fold laundry. She sits right by me and puts nearly every clothing item on her head, just to try it out I guess. Seth helped her with this one though.

10 Year Anniversary
Ten years sounds long, but it's really gone by so fast... and it just keeps getting better.
This year for our anniversary we spent the whole day in Chicago. We looked at shops along the Magnificent Mile and went to lunch at Frontera Grill which is owned by Rick Bayless (you may have seen his cooking show on PBS). The food there was so amazing!
Later we got a Sunday from Ghiradelli's.
We also went to the Art Institute of Chicago which has an amazing collection of very famous art.
That night we (as nerdy NPR fans) went to the taping of "Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me." A hilarious news quiz show they have each week on NPR. We met Carl Castle, and Mo Rocca (who was wearing fabulous santa-red pants). Their special guest (not in the studio but on the phone) was They Might Be Giants.
By the end of the night we were exhausted but happy.
I love spending time with Adam! Man did I luck out!
