It's the holiday season!

Well...again I have been slacking, but I'm slowly getting better. It's only been three months instead of five. :-)

So far we are still enjoying life here in Mississippi! Here's a little about what's been going on with us lately...

Abby is getting so big so fast. She is crawling around everywhere and doesn't seem to stay in the same spot for more that 5 minutes! She's getting so close to walking too. She'll pull herself up on just about anything...including Mom and Dad's hair if we're sitting on the ground with her...and will walk along the walls and furniture and pretty much anything else she can grip. So far she's learned to wave, clap and just started dancing! It's pretty fun to see how excited she gets when she does something!

Tyler is still really liking his job. Just last week he won $200 for a group project/competition his work held! That was pretty exciting for him. He was actually in 2 groups and would have gotten $150 for his second one, but they felt it was only fair to just compensate him for one group, since not everyone had the chance to be in 2. This fall Tyler;s also had the opportunity to go hunting a few times. He has a friend from work and a lady from church who let him hunt on their property. So far he has been able to get 2 deer! So we will be set on meat for a while! He's still hoping to get a big buck though.

As for me...I'm just been loving being a mom. It's great to be able to spend all day with Abby. She is such a good baby! I've also started to crochet and sew again. I'm still learning to crochet...but I'm getting better. I also sewed some Christmas stocking for us this year. Hopefully they'll last for a while...that's the plan anyways.

Another exciting thing...we are going to Alaska for Christmas this year! We are so excited! Abby hasn't seen her Grandma and Grandpa Dahlstrom since her blessing in April and she hasn't even met the most of the family up there, so we can't wait! Then when we get back my parents are coming to visit for a few days! So we are just going to have an amazing few weeks ahead of us!

I know....I'm really bad at this...

Ok...so maybe for me, blogging should just be like a semi-annual thing. So here's what's happened since the last post.

Tyler graduated from BYU-Idaho with a degree in Mechanical engineering and was hired by Avery Dennison. He's in their GOLD program which is a leadership development type thing, where they train you to become managers. It's can be either a two or three year program where you do either two or three rotations at different offices of theirs around the country. This led us to move to Meridian, Mississippi, the good 'ol south. We've been here since mid May, and actually really like it. We were pretty uncertain when we found out this is where we were going to be, but so far we have enjoyed ourselves. Granted the weather has been REALLY hard to get used to, but at least people that have spent their lives here say that they aren't used to it either. I just don't see how you can get used to 100+ degrees with 90+% humidity...just stay in your house. But other than that we really haven't had any issues with the area. It really is gorgeous here, everything is so green and the trees cover is so thick, it's just like a wall of green, you can't see through anything. Plus, we've made some awesome friends and Tyler is enjoying his job...so we really can't complain. We're only here until either next June or the following January. We're not sure yet, then we'll go somewhere else, which we're not sure of yet either. So life will be a little adventure for the next few years until Tyler is out of this program and we can actually settle down somewhere. So here we are in Mississippi. It's a little hard being so far away from family, we still get to see them so it's nice. In August, Tyler's sister Angie, her husband Lee and their baby girl Addison were down from Alaska visiting Lee's family in Texas and New Orleans, so we were able to meet up with them in New Orleans for a day and spend some time with them. It was really good to see them again. We used to hang out all the time in Rexburg, and we've definitely missed them. I was also able to go to California in July to see my family. Tyler had about a month of training he had to do in North Carolina, so instead of being bored out of my mind by myself, Abby and I flew to California for a little vacation of our own! That was really fun seeing all my family again too. Then in November my parents are flying out for a little while and then Tyler's parents are coming down for spring break next year. So even though we're pretty far away, we still get to see family a few times a year which is really nice.

Abby is doing very well! She is getting so big! She turned 6 months old yesterday! I can't believe how fast time goes by! She has been such an amazing little baby, Tyler and I are SO lucky! She's just about sleeping through the night. She'll usually only get up once in the middle of the night, but we just go give her her pacifier back and re-snuggle her in her blanket and she goes right back to sleep until about 7. She's a super happy baby during the day, too. Not so much lately though, but I think that's because of teething. Just this last weekend she started to army crawl too. That's really fun to watch. She barely sits still now, she's got to be exploring everything! It's so cute! She's getting really good at it to. It's amazing how once she realizes what she can do, she just goes. It's only a matter of time now until she starts crawling on her hands and knees then walking....that's when the fun starts...I guess we better start baby proofing everything. She is such a fun little baby. Some of her newest favorite things to do are blow raspberries and give you the cheesiest smile you've ever seen...she's pretty much perfected that one...wrinkled nose and all. Then is she's in the mood she gives some pretty good hugs and kisses too. But those have to be HER idea....otherwise, there's no way you're getting one. She'll pull away and fight it.
Well...I think that just about sums up what we've been up to. I'll try and post more pictures and whatnot...but based on my track record....

Hellooooo Sunshine!!!

So last Friday we had some AMAZING weather!!!! It was sunny and warm...a little windy...but it was still awesome. So we decided to take Abby for her first real walk. I'm not really sure she got too much out of it yet...but she will eventually. It was just too nice a day to pass up the opportunity...

Third time's a charm...right?

So here goes try #3 at starting a blog...I figure I have a little more time on my hands now so I'll be better at keeping up with it.

So for starters...the main things going on in our lives right now...

  • Tyler graduates college in 3 weeks!!!! I'm so proud of him!
  • We still aren't sure where we will be moving after graduation...but Tyler is in Ohio right now at a 2 day interview/conference thingy and hopefully will get an offer after he gets home...
  • In April we're going to California to visit my family for a while...hello sunshine and warm weather!!!!
  • WE HAD A BABY!!!!!
So yes...Abigail Fayone Dahlstrom was born March 15, 2011 at 12:37 a.m. and weighed 8 lbs. 8 oz and measured 20 3/4 inches long and is PERFECT!!! I went in for a check up Monday morning and the first thing the doctor asked me was "Want to have a baby today?" then he checked and saw that I had dialated to a 3 and told me that if I wanted he would break my water and send me to the hospital right then! Tyler and I were in such shock...we we had planned on me getting induced on Wednesday anyways...but having the doctor tell us that we could do it right then sort of made the whole thing a reality for us. So they broke my water and I finally got into the delivery room about 3-3:30ish and they started me on pitocin around 4 or 5...I'm not really sure. I was really surprised how fast time went by while we were in there. I got an epideral sometime around 7 or 8 I think. That is an amazing drug...it made everything soooo much more comfortable. I basically just fell asleep until the nurse came in and told me it was time to push. Then I only had to push for about 20-30 minutes and our little princess was here! We were able to bring her home Wednesday afternoon for Tyler's birthday! She is such a happy baby and Tyler and I couldn't be happier having her here! She makes the cutes little faces...I could just watch her for hours! She is so adorable and I love her so much! Yes...it has been quite the adjustment having her home, but she is totally worth it! My awesome mom came up for a few days to help us get into the routine a little and it was such a big help. Tyler has also been awesome! Even though he is so close to graduation and super busy with all his projects he is still doing everything he can to help with Abigail. I am so blessed to have such an awesome family!

Kennecott Copper Mine

The Kennecott copper mine in McCarthy, Alaska was opened in 1906. A railroad was formed two years later to transport the copper from McCarthy to Cordova, which transported approximately 200 million dollars worth of copper ore. The mine officially shut down in 1938 due to the falling cost of copper.

Our summer in Alaska

This is an ensemble of some of our summer highlights. We had such a great time this summer!

Just a peak at all the snow that welcomed us in April. :-)

Going out to drop the shrimp pots! YUM!!!

Tyler and I took Kali and Corey fishing on the docks, it is so cute how excited they get!

We thought that the shrimp pot had gotten stuck under a rock; turns out we caught this coral...

Jack's Bay

Robin's boat out by where Tyler, Robin and Cody went hunting

Some glaciers floating out in the ocean

Camping at Squirrel Creek.

Kali and Corey had such a ball picking the shrimp out of the bucket once they figured out they weren't as scary as they originally thought.

It got really warm one day so Terri got the inflatable pool out and Kali, Corey and the neighbor kids went swimming.

My rock fish!

Walking around town in Valdez

Hiking at Thompson Pass

I had hooked into a little rock fish, but as I was reeling it up this giant lean cod ate it...so I caught a big fish instead of a little one!

Cleaning it!

The bear and...

The fish.

All three of us with our prize winning fish!

My "big one" 16.42 lbs!

The Valdez Women's Silver Salmon Derby. We all had fish that placed! What an exciting night!

Dip netting in Chitna

Hailey Creek waterfall

Riding the four wheelers through an old railroad tunnel

Hiking near Liberty Falls
