Twenty-Eleven :)

In less than nine hours, i will be on my way to Malaysia for my long-awaited holiday! :D
I started the year there and am gonna end it there too. Haha. What a love-hate relationship with Malaysia.

Anyways, for twenty-eleven, it's been an awesome ride really.
Am really really thankful for all the experiences gained in twenty-eleven. the good, the bad, the ugly.
Made many many new friends, had many spiritual breakthroughs, made a good move career-wise, feel closer to family near and abroad too. :D
This won't be a lengthy post.
Just wanna take some time to thank God for placing awesome people who's been there every step of the year :)
namely my besties, grace, wei, bear, ak, clare. Each in their own special way; supported me this year :)

For 2012, people say the end is coming. I think it is gonna be yet another awesome chapter.
May 2012 be filled with faith, love, joy, hope and peace! :)
God bless :)

Will end by adding some quotes from the movie New Year's Eve :)

"Some people swear there's no beauty left in the world, no magic, then how do you explain the entire world, coming together on one night, to celebrate the hope of a new year."

"...before we pop the champagne and celebrate the New Year, to stop and reflect on the year that has gone by. To remember both our triumphs and our missteps - our promises made, and broken. The times we opened ourselves up to great adventures - or closed ourselves down, for fear of getting hurt. Because that's what New Year's is all about: getting another chance. A chance to forgive, to do better, to do more, to give more, to love more. And stop worrying about 'what if' and start embracing what would be. So when that ball drops at midnight - and it will drop - let's remember to be nice to each other, kind to each other. And not just tonight but all year long."

"What would you do today if you know that you would not fail? Now. Go out and do it!
As we move forward into the new year, let's remember it's alright to sometimes, to listen to your heart. I know it's risky. Take that leap of faith. Happy New Year everybody!"

"Sometimes it feels like there's so many things in this world you can't control. Earthquakes, floods, reality shows. But it's important to remember the things that we can; like forgiveness, second chances, fresh starts. Because the one thing that turns the world from a lonely place to a beautiful place…is love. Love in any of its forms. Love gives us hope. Hope for the new year…"

AND AND! if you have not caught new year's eve! go catch it before new year's eve! :D

CHEERS to twenty-twelve!! :)

it's the MOST BEAUTIFUL time of the year :)

It's the most beautiful time of the year
Lights fill the streets spreading so much cheer
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I'mma be under the mistletoe

I don't want to miss out on the holiday
But I can't stop staring at your face
I should be playing in the winter snow
But I'mma be under the mistletoe

With you, shawty with you
With you, shawty with you
With you under the mistletoe

Everyone's gathering around the fire
Chestnuts roasting like a hot July
I should be chillin' with my folks, I know
But I'mma be under the mistletoe

Word on the street santa's coming tonight,
Reindeer's flying through the sky so high
I should be making a list, I know
But I'mma be under the mistletoe

The wise men follow the stars (The wise men follow the stars)
They way I followed my heart
And it led me to a miracle

Don't you buy me nothing (don't you buy me nothing)
I am feeling one thing, your lips on my lips
There's a very, Merry Christmas

(Kiss me underneathe the mistletoe)
Kiss me underneathe the mistletoe
(Show me baby that you love me so)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh

(Kiss me underneathe the mistletoe)
Kiss me underneathe the mistletoe
(Show me baby that you love me so)
Ohhh, ohhh,
Mmmm

Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know It All

Mr. Know It All
Well you think you know it all
But you don't know a thing at all
Ain't it something y'all
When somebody tells you something 'bout you
Think that they know more than you do
So you take it down, another pill to swallow

Mr. Bring Me Down
Well you like to bring me down, don't ya?
But I ain't laying down
Baby I ain't going down
Can't nobody tell me how it's gonna be
Nobody's gonna make a fool out of me
Babe, you should know that I lead, not follow

Oh you think that you know me
That's why I'm leaving you lonely
'Cause babe, you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me
[ Lyrics from: http://www.lyricsmode.com/lyrics/k/kelly_clarkson/mr_know_it_all.html ]
You ain't got the right to tell me
When and where to go, no right to tell me
Acting like you own me lately
Yeah, baby, you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

Mr. Play Your Games
Only got yourself to blame
When you want me back again
But I ain't fallin' back again
'Cause I'm living my truth without your lies
Let's be clear, baby – this is goodbye
I ain't comin' back tomorrow

So what, you've got the world at your feet
And you know everything about everything
But you don't
You still think I'm comin' back but baby, you'll see

Mr. Know It All
Well you think you know it all
But you don't know a thing at all
Yeah, baby, you don't know a thing about me
You don't know a thing about me

sometimes i think the issue is not about people not knowing you but also the person him/herself not knowing themselves. a very relatable song ;) enjoy ;)

A Time For Everything.

Ecclesiastes 3 (NLT)

A Time for Everything
1 For everything there is a season,
a time for every activity under heaven.
2 A time to be born and a time to die.
A time to plant and a time to harvest.
3 A time to kill and a time to heal.
A time to tear down and a time to build up.
4 A time to cry and a time to laugh.
A time to grieve and a time to dance.
5 A time to scatter stones and a time to gather stones.
A time to embrace and a time to turn away.
6 A time to search and a time to quit searching.
A time to keep and a time to throw away.
7 A time to tear and a time to mend.
A time to be quiet and a time to speak.
8 A time to love and a time to hate.
A time for war and a time for peace.

it's been a month since graduation... it is gonna keep getting better. :)

Mirror - Lil Wayne & Bruno Mars

accidentally stumbled on this song while surfing the internet.
a sad thing that is happening in the world.
people are just not confident of themselves.
they talk to themselves and try to convince themselves that they are good. awesome even.
a common little secret many has.
people need to see that they are awesome as they are. just being themselves.

SOT Graduation 2011

i had my family with me for my graduation service :)
have been catching up with the various groups of people and a common question is "what now?","are you going to be a church worker now?".
No, i'm not. not for now at least. why then did i do SOT? it was just something i really wanted to do for myself. and i'm happy i did it. Don't think i can explain further, words are just not enough to describe what i experienced. and probably only people who went to SOT will be able to understand what i mean. haha!
Anyway, as reported on Citynews, this is what we had to complete... "...we had to undergo an intense six-month course filled with Bible lectures, we also have had to put our knowledge to the test by sitting through 10 exams, enduring four preaching tests, going for mission trips, preparing 10 sermons each, clocking a minimum of 57 ministry practicum hours, and to top it all, writing 10 book reviews."

Callings

I don't know about you, i always had an impression about the callings of life. that it should last forever till we die. One day during Q&A, someone asked about this. and i remembered this significantly.

QN: can callings change as we grow?

Reply: Yes, once there were some fishermen, they became preachers, then they became leaders, then they became "famous" authors, then they became church builders... point being, as time passes, we find ourselves in different circumstances, different needs, different wants. So, the things we do, will change as these needs change in order to remain relevant. :)
*everyone cheering on in class~~epic moment ;) *

The end is reaching...

hmmm, did 6 months just pass? yea it definitely did.
think i'm gonna go through what all SOT students go through. that happy-sad thingy about graduation. its been an out-of-the-world experience. never regretted signing up, not regretting and never will. it's an experience money cannot buy. the friendships gained. just very grateful for everything.
Maybe i'll post a couple of things that has impressed me the most :) look out ;)

The Bandung Experience

it's been awhile.
going through the phase again where blogging is kind of a chore.
but i wanna document down the bandung experience. so here i am.

went with my team to Bandung in Indonesia from 15th to 18th July.
just a short trip over the weekend.
the weather there is awesome! very cooling! like it's spring!
our schedule was packed! back to back! but there was not shopping. :(
but we had loads of fun nonetheless!

come together with me for a ride as i try to recall everything that happened.
Day 1

on the day of take off, the flight got delayed for about an hour. and when we were about to take off, it started raining heavily.

and when we were in the air, we spotted rainbows! three times! and so i felt awesome all through the trip. rainbows means promises. :D

can you spot the rainbow? :)
once we landed in Bandung, the airport was so tiny! there was only two planes. haha. they take off almost immediately after they land. LOL.
we headed to where we were staying. it was my team-mate's new place! the family very nicely hosted us and prepared lunch for us! his dad is a chef! hotel standard!! so blessed!

we prayed for the new home and we prayed for the whole day's activities and then we set off! :)

we headed to ICC, we supposed to help their staff pack food that will be distributed to the homeless people on the streets, but they had already completed that, so we had a prayer meeting instead and then we started practicing or planing the various things we had to put up for the trip.
Dinner followed and we had a short sharing time with the staff at ICC and then off we went.
distributing food to the people on the streets. i was told that they were left homeless as the natural disasters destroyed their homes. :( people young and old. heart wrenching. i wished we had more food to distribute. there were just so many!
we headed back to rest, feeling alot for the homeless. feeling physically tired and yet excited for the next day!
Day 2
woke up super early, we needed to leave the house by 0630. with about 2 hours of sleep. we left feeling super excited.
1st stop - the muslim school.
we played games with the children, taught them some dance moves. did a song item. told them a story and ended by giving each a gift and food. :)

the L.M.B :P
2nd stop - the orphanage

did ice-breakers, followed by praise & worship, story-telling. and the children did an item for us! the founder/owner of the home has such a big heart! prayed for all of them, gave them presents, took pictures, exchange FB emails then we had to leave quickly. :( so sad we didn't get to spend more time with them.
had quick lunch at the street stalls and we headed to GBI! :))
3rd stop - GBI youth svc
went there to support Pastor Kim Hock. the team did up an item. quite a big crowd of youths. a lovely church building they've got!

headed for dinner and hurried home again to prepare for next day. the team was split up into pairs to head various places. target audience: teenagers.

Day 3
with about 3 hours of sleep, we headed off!
1st stop - various churches (in pairs)
the place that i was at was called Cimahi Junior Community. the children there were so diligent in flipping their bibles. i was convicted and impressed at the same time. haha.
it was this stop that touched my heart the most in the whole trip. the children had such low self-esteem. together with my partner, we prayed for all the teens. we had a language barrier. i was a bit hesitant to pray for them individually. but did it anyway. quite a few of them was in tears from the ministering. felt and learnt so much.

2nd stop - ICC youth service
quite a young ministry. just three months old. (half) the team basically ran the whole service. from the opening to praise and worship, song item, preaching of the word and closing. so proud of my team. :D
the other half went to another GBI branch to support Pst KH.

finally, all the things that had to be done, is complete. we could relax now! :D
they brought us to have some good food, walked around. but at this point we were really just so tired and wanted to sleep. so we headed back. had a sharing time.
really good times. had to get ready to leave the next day. :(
we all have bandung parents now. haha :P
we love the place, love the people and like what all other trips do, we became closer :) love my team-mates even more. :)
God bless :D

May 2011

May has been sort of gracious to me.
Though there are quite a copy of changes and happenings, but it came nicely spread out in the entire month.
Tiffany and Connor came and went.
"sermon" for mock cg.
general elections.
changes in school schedules.
changes in work.
changes in cg.
not forgetting the crazy assignment datelines.
i just read and read and read some more.
Great-granddad passed on.

Love

got this from wei's :D

Kahlil Gibran – Love One Another
Love one another, but make not a bond of love.
Let it rather be a moving sea between the shores of your souls.
Fill each other’s cup, but drink not from one cup.
Give one another of your bread, but eat not from the same loaf.
Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone.
Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music.
Give your hearts, but not into each other’s keeping.
For only the hand of life can contain your hearts.
And stand together, yet not too near together.
For the pillars of the temple stand apart.
And the oak tree and the cypress grow not in each other’s shadow.

and we choose love :)

just had to blog about this before i sleep.
today while serving at "greeters"ministry, got to know this new friend from Paris(Alexandre).
he was just randomly invited to service by another lady (who happens to be in my parents' cg) at macdonalds. He just landed in Singapore from Thailand and is in transit, heading off to Brisbane tomorrow. anyway, after service, the lady's cg was headed to alexandra area to makan, and he didn't want to go so far, so i invited him to join my cg. we had dinner at suntec and went to the fountain of wealth with him! (my first!) then we walked to esplanade and then the merlion (tourist-sy stuff) before heading towards cityhall mrt, towards selegie for tau huay and then walked him to bencoolen where his hostel was.
throughout this, everyone was so nice and taking turns to talk to Alex. and fellowshipping at the same time. quality :)
So filled with love. i'm just so proud of my cg mates.
we walked for like almost 3 hours!
all very "co-operative" and nice and loving.
living out the love message :D

indeed we choose love
even to a stranger (we barely knew for an hour) who is new in a foreign land, we choose love :)
how everyone just walked together, talked together, showered love to one another.
awwwww :D

xoxo

Gal 6:9-10
9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. 10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

wished i was on UK now... :(

i happen to have a very very complex family tree.
this is my step-great-granddad. he's a very loving and awesome man.
he's been in the hospital awhile now. they're taking the oxygen and anti-biotics off him. so that would mean, he's headed up to heaven soon.
they asked for us to send them letters to bury together with the body. so i did up a simple pic.
may his soul find peace.
RIP mike. xxx

Just submitted one assignment that is due on wednesday.
Now i have to keep track for my bible reading schedule. it's way off! way way off! :X
the coming 3 weeks is extremely exciting!

Tiffany and Connor are arriving on saturday! gonna be a tourist again with them for them :D

Sunday is hatchday but family is having gathering at my house to see them both. oh wells.

I'm loving it :)

hey there :)

here for a proper post.

I'm loving it :) nopes. not a macdonalds' advertisement.
SOT has been really enjoyable.
We just finished the book on Songs of Solomon (SOS).
The entire book; 8 chapters, broke down, verse by verse, the meaning behind each word and what it meant. it was a fresh insight, a great reminder. Next to the Psalms, SOS would probably be my next favourite book. As the faith relationship is taken up a notch, to understand what we will be facing, from a day-to-day basis. it's been a very awesome session. i feel ;)

My team just had a BBQ session. It was just lovely :) I'm with a great team of people, and i'm looking forward to forge deep friendships with them. :)

Bunch of awesome people! :)

it's been a little tough at work though. I've been feeling a little unwilling to head to work. Doing work for just 4 hours, i feel inefficient and useless. It gets a little frustrating to be not able to complete the work as i don't have time on my side.

Assignments are also starting to pile up. :X
We have like 100 comprehension style questions to do for SOS!! :X haha!
ok. gotta head back the books.
God bless! :)

Born to be somebody

just came back from watching "Never Say Never 3D" with Joelle. JB was cute since he was a kid! and people who watched the movie and saw clips from when he was 3 would know that he is truely gifted. love his eyes. realised that the first thing i look at in a person, is their eyes :p
he's a kid still. wanting to have fun. cheeky and likes to kid around. you can tell from the movie. but he's an amazing kid. i salute him. for the things he has to miss out as a teenager and for the decisions he has to make at his age. you might wanna put aside bias-ness and have a look at the movie.
i liked how many scenes revolve around him and family and his team standing together and saying prayers. i like how his grandparents, mom and dad are always there for him. family is important. the scenes where they caught his parents tearing when he was doing the big show at Madison Square Gardens. that very proud moment. and one scene where they shared about Madonna at MJ's tribute saying they stole his childhood. or something like that. and JB turned to his manager and told him not to do that to him. that was a wow moment for me somehow.

There's a dream in my soul,
a fire that's deep inside me.
There's a me no one knows
waiting to be set free.

I'm gonna see that day;
I can feel it,
I can taste it.
Change is coming my way.

I was born to be somebody.
Ain't nothing that's ever gonna stop me.
I'll light up the sky like lightning,
I'm gonna rise above,
show 'em what I'm made of,
I was born to be somebody,
I was born to be,
and this world will belong to me.

This life can kick you around, (woah)
this world can make you feel small. (woah)
They will not keep my down. (Woah)
I was born to stand tall.

I'm goin' all the way.
I can feel it, I believe it.
I'm here, I'm here to stay.

I was born to be somebody.
Ain't nothing that's ever gonna stop me.

Feel it,
believe it,
dream it,
be it.

Oh, oh,
oh, oh...

And this world will belong to me.

Ye-ah, ye-ah, ohh...

And this world will belong to me.
