Day 15

...... one year later (omg the procrastination. is. real. this means i have left this tab here for a whole year untouched ummmm what can i say #slothlife) Ok, so i only posted once in 2016. wellll... at least that sets the bar low for 2017 hehe. Actuallllly, i already typed this post loooonnng ago just that the photos took a year (oops) so here goes:

/ Boracay, Philippines /

Grad trip #3! (yes, back to recounting my 2015 travels before i get lazy again!) hehe after watching about Boracay on 综艺完很大 can't believe that we r finally here!!!!!! even tried to go to the same places / find the same restaurants hahahaha

26 06 15 Day 1! After a 3+ hour flight, 1+ hour minivan ride, 15? mins ferry ride, 15? mins taxi ride, getting tickets for tomorrow's activities, and catching our first (cloudy) sunset in Boracay, we checked into Ferra Hotel before heading out to dinner.

27 06 15 Day 2! First highlight of the day was... Ariel's Point! which is where i fulfilled my childhood dream aka cliff diving (kidding) wuahahahahaha ~ conquered all 5m, 8m and 15m!!!! *pats myself on the back* although the 15m was OMG PAIN and also the start of a lot of suan-ing about me being geh kiang (bleh) anyway after many jumps, a yummy buffet lunch, and kayaking + snorkelling, finally headed back! Rode on a tuk tuk from somewhere to somewhere that day. Second highlight has got to be paraw sunset sailing at White Beach, which is super duper extra amazingly beautiful!!!!! (we will later realize halfway thru the trip that it's the only nice beach in Boracay) the best feeling after a long day of playing in the sun is to nua on the paraw sail watching the sun set with the wind in your face and sea splashing at your feet (i m seriously wishing i could be doing this rn)

28 06 15 Day 3! Island hopping to a few beaches (i can't remember their names anymore, except for Puka Shell Beach where i was being buried in sand.......) and got stranded for a bit cos of low tide + sea urchins in the sand. No need to island hop in Boracay cos the best beach is right where u need it to be and it makes the rest very meh. After that, ATV up to Mount Luho lookout - ATV was lame and it started to drizzle when we were at the lookout point sobs.

29 06 15 Day 4! Took the last chance to dash to White Beach and go "WAAAAAAAA" before heading home and hiding under my pillow to cry about the end of my last grad trip

regret not parasailing in Boracay what a beautiful view it would have beeen... but nvm! still goooood. Boracay was honestly a bit overrated and touristy with not much to do- go once for 4 days is enufff. wellll at least this 'Filipino Boracay beach girl' had a chill beach kind of trip to end the nua days :)

Day 16

eeeeep! December got me real busy - met up with 6 groups of friends (maybe that's like allll my friends lol), 4 birthday celebrations, 1 day in JB, 4 days in Krabi, 6 days in Beijing, aaaaaand it's 2 0 1 6 ~

anyway, every time i write a post for the ny (if i do), i have this habit of re-reading my 'end of year post' for the year before, but i didn't even have one for '15???! ok but at least i did blog more than in '14, which is 7 posts.......... (......... compared to 5, HAHA) so MINI RESOLUTION ACHIEVED! high 5 to my other hand aka clap! (that was my only ny reso btw)

Looking back on 2015, it's been an eventful year-

I spent my final sem degenerating in hall, and i'm so glad i stayed even with one core one elective and a whole lot of free time. 'cos heck, i'll never have a chance to be a hall resident again- no more late night suppers, no more nua-ing on other people's beds, no more mahjong sessions, no more sleeping in on no alarm days with the pig roomie... allll these little moments suddenly so precious!!!!

School ended in the most boring way ever- didn't wear a retarded costume into the exam hall, didn't have a crazy drinking party, we just went to eat ah lian bee hoon the night bef my last paper and that was it. I mean, my favouriteeee ah lian bee hoon with my neighbees, and that made all the difference :)

Grad trip was road tripping in Melbourne, paragliding in Taipei, cliff diving in Boracay... many new places and new experiences. That was half the travelling i did in '15! plus Agung in Bali, Phuket and Krabi, skiing in Beijing... and hopefully more to come in '16!

From graduation to starting work, the level of 'life sucks' hit an all time high. sometimes, it makes me wonder if this is what i'm gonna do for the rest of my life. Let's just say there are hits and misses and i'll just have to wait and see.

So yes, 2015 has been a good run, with so sooo many things to be grateful for. and yet, my wish for myself is to never be satisfied with 'me' (can already feel myself sinking into this scary place in the world called the 'comfort zone' even its name sounds so welcoming but nooooh) plus growing old is so scary sometimes...

and i just know 2016 will be better :)

Day 326

/ Taipei, Taiwan /

Grad trip #2 to Taiwan where we gorged ourselves with street eats and bubble tea every. single. day. Really sooo cheap and yummy sobs 5 days not enuffff wanna go back~

09 06 15 Day 1! Night 1 actually - we landed at night. And no photos, so here's one of the next day. We stayed in the heart of 西門町 Ximending at Go Sleep Hotel. After checking in, wanted to grab dinner but we were like "where's all the street food?!" and just settled for bbq buffet at 熊一燒烤 Xiongyi BBQ (which was like whaAAAatt cos who eats that in taiwan??! and our chinese was super fail until the waiter ask isit he talk too fast and whether we needed the menu in english oops.......)

10 06 15 Day 2! First stop, paragliding at 萬里 Wanli! First time paragliding so super stoked and the view was w0w got trees got buildings got beach got sea. BUT the stupid guy flying me didn't fly me across to the beach and instead we landed at the same place we started so i was super sian at him ruined my experience!!!! anyway it's not very very thrilling but it was nice nua-ing and admiring the view below - worth going! Next stop, 野柳地質公園 Yehliu Geopark! (how did i survive these DIFFICULT CHINESE NAMES) first we were like "huh need to pay to get in?!" "aiya don't want, we go walk walk", then we were like "eh coconut 100NT... means $2 only" "EH WHY WE AUTISTIC is $5 leh" "omg drink finish liao" "lemme check the ticket price... eh even cheaper than our coconut leh" w0w........ probably more interesting for my geog loving brother, but that's not to say i didn't like it!!!! just that it was full of chinese tourists, but the natural geological formations very unique and the names given to them very haoxiao (like mushroom rock, bean curd rock, fried drumstick??!)

11 06 15 Day 3! oh oh almost everyday we would go to 天天利美食坊 for their super yummy luroufan!!! It's my fav food there! so... we planned to go to 九份 Jiufen but spent like forever getting there (and getting lost) lucky got a nice auntie who gave us directions if not we would probably have accomplished nothing that day. anyway it's a really nice place with lots of hidden finds for street food and souvenirs, but very very big until we didn't have time to visit Shifen and Pingxi as planned. At night super shag le but still walked 士林夜市 Shilin Night Market for a bit!

12 06 15 Day 4! and so we returned the next day, first to finish exploring Jiufen, then to 十分 Shifen Train Station, which was the starting point to Shifen Waterfall. Nice scenic views on the way there and good exercise for the 10 meals we were having everyday. Took a train to 平溪 Pingxi, a quiet and quaint little town that looks very much like Shifen, less the hoards of tourists. The big thing to do at Shifen / Pingxi is release sky lanterns, but we didn't want to feel gay with each other so we didn't. On hindsight, maybe we should have, and shunbian wish for good luck cos we epic missed a train and had to wait 1.5 h for the next one......... STORY OF OUR LIFE. End up we had to hobo and camp at a 7-11 eating sad instant noodles while waiting for the train to come. Also went to 師大夜市 Shi-Da Night Market cos we really wanted to shop for clothes but nutin' we liked sobs :(

13 06 15 Day 5! No photos that day so here's Pingxi where we got stuck for forever. hmmm, we tried to do some last minute shopping. and failed. so we headed home~!

sooooo... some thoughts about Taiwan. Well, for one, the language barrier IS REAL. omg had 101 problems getting around because of that. And we went to Taiwan expecting to buy a lot of clothes but sadly came home with none. But at least we ate a lot a lot a lot and that was probably the highlight HAHA yea but 5 days is definitely not enough gotta come back for moar~

Day 319

ooops i think i need to blog waaaay more for the remaining 46/365 of 2015 to fulfill my NY resolution :/ but so much has happened idek what to blog about soooo will document my grad trips instead! Just hope i don't give up halfway........

/ Sydney, Australia /

It's funny how i always end up travelling to countries during the off season = i went to Australia in June = winter = little sun = cold. Good thing is, i like the cold! (hehe)

11 05 15 Day 1! Sunny day = nua lunch at Hyde Park! We just found a sunny spot on the grass like everyone else and ate our sandwiches and chased birds away. Free walking tour as usual + caught my first rugby match! It's an exciting sport to watch besides the fact that it was really confusing for me, like "wait" "what happened" "who did that" "did they score" "what" ya that's basically me during the entire game.

12 05 15 Day 2! Crazy windy day at Blue Mountains! It's called Blue Mountains cos it's really blue (it's a little little blue in the photo far far away..........) cos got a lot a lot of Eucalyptus trees which have a lot a lot of Eucalyptus oil, then Eucalyptus oil + dust particles + water vapour = blue light scattered! also spotted the Three Sisters there and i'm sure there's some story behind that name toooo. At night we watched Les Miserables omg it's really nice!!!!!! hehe luvvvvit esp the songs maybe i should watch it again in SG??

13 05 15 Day 3! We took a ferry to Manly Beach - and omg it's really called Manly Beach cos of the "manly behaviour of aborigines*" (*air-ber-ree-gee-nees) there hahahahaha wut. oh ya btw everything at Manly Beach is... MANLY! Got Manly Italian Restaurant, Manly Dentist, Manly Barber......... anyway!!! for the record in case i ever go back, i had super yummy burgers + hot chocolate at BenBry Burgers Manly and Barefoot Coffee Traders! It was really guuuud (and manly!)

14 05 15 Day 4! Irrelevant photo, but i ate a lot that day. 'nuff said.

15 05 15 Day 5! Visit to Sydney Fish Market and tasted the freshesttttt salmon and scallop ever. FOR REAL. My tummy went to tummy heaven after that. Showing even more love for my tummy cos we had dinner at Pancakes on the Rocks! What's better than ribs? Ribs and pancakes!!! AND of course, can't quite say i've been to Sydney if i haven't been to the Sydney Opera House right! Real touristy but yes we went on the SOH tour + watched a concert there too! It was surprisingly good and not at all sleep-inducing, but maybe cos i slept in that morning :p

16 05 15 Day 6! My favourite day in Sydney because it's Bondi Beach!!!! omg why did we even almost want to pass on this?? EVERYTHING about Bondi Beach is sooo prettttty hehe really love this place lotssss. Super happy we came but still a little disappointed that we didn't do the Bondi to Coogee coastal walk / take a dip in the Bondi Icebergs Pool (omg srsly it's the coolest swimming pool with waves crashing into it) / just sit on the sand even?! Ok but lucky we didn't cos the weather turned bad after that hehe

/ Melbourne, Australia /

Melbourne felt a little less "eventful" (in a way that was more exploring the city like a local, visiting little cafes and hipster neighbourhoods) and much much more cultural and artsy fatsy!!!

17 05 15 Day 7! So, since Melbourne is big on cafes, first stop... A CAFE! The Hardware Société already had a long queue when we finally found it but since we were waiting to check in to our Airbnb, we queued anyway. So brunch turned out to be pricey, but so satisfying!!!! After filling up our tummies, we checked into our Airbnb and it. was. amazinggggg! It was a small apartment, but very cosy and modern. Also visited the State Library of Victoria (with really beautiful interior - no wonder so many ppl studying there!) and chocolates (that look too nice to be eaten) at Koko Black.

18 05 15 Day 8! Began our roadtrip down the Great Ocean Road! Forgot how long we took to finally reach the Twelve Apostles (actually only eight left!) sadly it was cloudy and the sun was setting fast so we had to rush our visit and miss the other sights sobs. Day made better cos i spotted cutie koala on a tree in the wild!!! : )

19 05 15 Day 9! Second leg of our road trip to... Philip Island! very very verrrry long drive there but so worth it, cos penguins!!! The Penguin Parade is the cutest thing ever - we watched the little penguins swim up from sea, slowly form a little huddle at the shoreline, waddle waddle across the beach slowly (sometimes running back to sea / sometimes falling down along the way!!! while making cute noises), and finally reaching back home aka going into their little burrows (umm assuming they don't get lost - which they do hahaha damn cute!!!) hehe i luvvved it so much i bought a penguin toy on impulse -_-

20 05 15 Day 10! More driving to Yarra Valley for chocolates, ice cream and wine!

21 05 15 Day 11! Mostly bumming around and staying in. Highlights of the day (just food): Manchester Press for brunch (pulled pork bagel mmm!!) and N2 Extreme Gelato (sthg about using liquid nitrogen to make ice cream...? but whatever- if it's ice cream, i'll eat it!!!!)

22 05 15 Day 12! Think the cold weather got to us and some of us started falling sick one after another, so we didn't do much. But we did go to Brighton Beach to see the colourful colourful Brighton bathing boxes! vellly cute!

23 05 15 Day 13! Last day in Melbourne aka last day in Australia! No city is complete without a FREE WALKING TOUR yay! Good thing, brought us to a lot of the "mainstream" places in Melbourne which we would have probably skipped if we didn't do the tour (such as Hosier Lane for its street art!!) got extra time so took a bus and hopped off at St Kilda Beach, grabbed ice cream again and strolled down the boardwalk. anyway, my last night in Australia ended in the most epic fashion in fact extremely disastrous but!!!!! i was rescued phew (lucky me got angel appeared really what are the odds!!)

soooo yup, maybe cos got disaster, or that the whole trip took two weeks, or i was just low on energy, but i was surprisingly okay that we were going home. But that's not to say i don't want to go back again!!!! esp in summer! okay if i zheng1 qi4 next up is Taiwan, bye bye!

Day 101 (April 11)

Just a short little post for today!

I remember i used to dread my birthday when i was younger, but for the last few years i think my birthday became less of a big deal to me (except my 21st la) and in fact now it's one of those thanksgiving kind of days where i count my blessings :)

Yup! so compared to last year, turning 22 was a small affair.

1) Super unexpected surprise by the hall people who disguised the whole thing as a date with doge. Smooth. Really really so grateful for this bunch of happy pills they're like my biggest gift from uni. I guess i truly understood what is meant by "enjoy the little things in life. one day you'll look back and realize they were the big things" - it was just a small celebration but it meant so much for me to have the whole clique down in NTU even tho some don't stay in hall/working alrdy.

2) I think as my bro and i grew up, my family stopped celebrating birthdays as much. We used to go out for family dinners but i guess the habit didn't stick with us. So even tho my bro didn't have dinner with us (it wasn't even supposed to be a birthday dinner actually) i was just happy my papa and mummy brought me to have steamboat because i keep having steamboat cravings lately hehe

3) Three idiots skype call! this 小饱 and 小黑 never fail to forget my birthday, and even tho they are miles and miles away this time round, i still feel so loved by this two idiots. sometimes i can't help but wonder how different things would be if i didn't meet/become friends with them back in 2006. So grateful for this two + can't wait for them to come back!!!! + skype again sooon

4) 11 April. I woke up feeling super moody because i overslept, was disappointed by the weather, sian that couldn't find the romper i planned to wear (BEING SUCH A GIRL RIGHT I KNOW HAHA), had a tummyache... but so thankful for people who insist on having the day as planned. And it was perfect :))))) really had a lot a lot of fun at river safari + first lobster eating experience + got my xiaoyi!!!!!!!!!1111!!1!

5) ofc, everyone else who wished - thankful for people who care enuf to remember :)

hahahahaha i'm like bursting with happiness and feeling so utterly blessed and undeserving of all this love from everyone ok till next time x x

Highlight of week 4: NONE cries

Highlight of week 5: Last day of Jan was particularly eventful! Volleyball again (not as burnt yay) then 10 dollar karaoke (super funny "stand up when you sing!") then dinner with my family then teo heng with the girlies (xt and kla) before our stayover at pulau ntu (sobs gonna miss them lots.......) next day went jp and ate my fav popiah yum yum

Highlight of week 6: Kangry invited us for bbq at crescent and alsooo we went to his house for steamboat that same week. So happy hall life has been pretty exciting for me in my final sem. All the little things like playing basketball every week and running together and working on our flabs. Oya we are now like saboteur crazy, keep playing that game, need to find something new soon! 2015 like keep eating steamboat BUT I LIKE

Highlight of week 7: Damn sian i didn't get the y&r PT internship REALLY DAMN SIAN sobs. Steamboat with the hall people again. I swear i eat the most porkee i scare myself. On v'day i had tuanyuanfan and dinner at fat boys!

Highlight of week 8: Kingsman is the best movie of 2015!!!!! (watched it twice liao) ok so monday i had retail excursion to Tampines giant (hehe first time in uni got excursion) and so i finally satisfied my ikea meatball craving (NOT- because actually i feel like eating again) anyways i sewed a "nice cushy" so proud of myself hahahaha it's really quite qt maybe i can quit school and sell cushies yay ok no. CNY chuyi quite boring because i cannot bainian this year but my family went kaikai so it could've been worse! and i drove today!!!!!! ok bye.
