THE FAMILY. We were a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another's desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. ~Erma Bombeck

Natural History Museum

Luke's Preschool class had a field trip to the Natural History Museum in Las Vegas.  It was our first time to this museum and my kids really enjoyed themselves.

Luke and Ella, with Jonathan, and Chloe.

Here's Luke running around the dinosaur exhibit (even though he wasn't supposed to).

They had some incredible things to see in the microscopes.

Ella just wanted to touch everything.
Chloe and her mom Youngsil were watching the sting rays.

Luke and Jonathan kept trying to reach over the glass and touch the sting rays.  It was hard for them to follow the rules of staying behind the glass.

Visit from Dear Friends

At the end of February we were so lucky to spend some time with our friends the Chuggs and Allreds.  The Chuggs were visiting from Germany and we hadn't seen them in almost two years.  And the Allreds came down from Utah to join the party!

Mia was so excited to spend time with Hanna and Aspen.  The girls loved playing Spoons and several other fun games.

And even though it was a school night we decided that a sleepover was clearly in order.

So we stretched two queen sized air beds across the playroom floor.

They stayed up until almost midnight, chatting and giggling.  It was adorable.

The following day we brought Aspen and Hanna to Mia's school to have lunch with her and Kateyln, along with their old teacher Mrs. Montgomery.  We ate Port of Subs in the courtyard and had a blast.

Mia is so lucky to have such amazing friends.

And the trip was great fun for Luke too.  He was able to play with his best buddy Ammon.  They picked up right where they left off.  I love watching the two of them together!

Valentines Day 2013

The kids wanted to do something creative for their valentines this year.  Here's what we came up with.

Mia loves these little TapeFitis so I bought a 30 count pack from amazon.  I printed out the card and gave Mia all the supplies to assemble them.  I think they turned out really cute.

For Cole's we purchased the really big bouncy balls from Old Navy.  They have them in a vending machine there for $0.25 a piece.  Then I printed off a card and gave Cole all the supplies to put those together.

Unfortunately I didn't take a picture of Luke's valentine.  I made ones that said "I Wheelie Like You" and he attached a hot wheels car to them.   The greatest part about these valentines was that we were able to all work on them at the same time in the kitchen.  They had their little stations and it was so fun watching them work on this project.

Mia had a really fun Valentines party at school.  Kristen took these great pictures of their Minute to Win It games.

Later that night we had homemade heart shaped mini pizzas.  The kids loved it.  And I got each of them a fun present to tell them I love them.  Mia got a ultimate frisbee game.  Cole got a large dart game.  Luke got a TeeBall set.  And Ella got a ring toss game.

Melissa's Birthday

I had a pretty wonderful birthday this year.  I woke up at 6am to go for a run, and when I came downstairs, Mia was in the kitchen!  She told me not to go in there, so I headed out.  After a 4 mile jog, I came back to this...

Mia decorated the kitchen and made me chocolate chip pancakes.

Then she wished me a happy birthday with lipstick.

And put streamers on my door.  She knows how to make a girl feel special.

Drew sent chocolate covered strawberries (My FAV!) and gave me two new charms for my bracelet.  It was a wonderful day.
