Two Turtles

I finished the first Turtle and managed to get another one done as well!  I might even do a third as I enjoyed them so much.

Aborigine-inspired Turtle

I've been watching the TV documentary series about Australian art and I was inspired to take a look at some Aborigine art.  This is my own Aborigine-inspired turtle in progress which I'm really enjoying cutting.

Papercut Paper Lace

Recently I've been looking at a lot of images of vintage lace and have been waiting for a spare day to try and papercut my own paper lace.

Here's my first attempt which I'm fairly pleased with although there's plenty of room for improvement!

I've got some ideas of where I'd like to take this idea, but need to do another sample or two first.

Family Tree Commission - Finished Piece

Here's the finished piece.  I've enjoyed making this piece so much.  Possibly more than any other piece I've made, I really feel this one will be a good old-fashioned family heirloom.  That's a good feeling.

Family Tree

I'm making good progress with the family tree piece.  I'm really enjoying it too.  With this piece I really feel like I'm creating a family heirloom for this particular family and hopefully it will be passed down through generations.  I like to think that anyway!

Here are some work-in-progress pictures.

Family Tree commission

Today I've made a start on my latest commission - a family tree.  I've been sent 14 profile photographs and my task is to put them into a tree, together with a baby in a hanging crib and the family cat.

Here is my initial drawing.  I have decided on the placement of the portraits and now I've got the fun part of drawing in all the leaves, birds, names and any other little critters that take my fancy!  Should be a fun one.

Geese and Gosling commission

Sorry I haven't blogged for a while.  I was away for a month and prior to that I was super busy.

However, I have managed to do a commission for a lovely couple who are having their first baby any day now.  I was commission (in secret!) by the hubby to make the piece as a surprise for  his wife.  When it came to handing it over to him, he couldn't keep it a secret any longer and told his wife all about it.  Thankfully she was over the moon and they absolutely love it.

Here are some work in progress pics and the final piece.
