Trip To Charlottsville July 2011

Monday afternoon I drove to Charlottsville to visit the Brown's ( my niece and her family), We had yummy left over homemade Cafe Rio for dinner and yummy ice cream and cake for dessert. We watched "the Bachelor" with Steph and Chip's friends. I have to say I wasn't a big fan ( fell asleep for a while ) but still had fun hanging out. I slept over and had yummy waffles for breakfast before I had to come home this am( Tuesday). It was a short visit but nice to see them and those cute little boys (Cash and Griffin). It is fun to have family close, especially when none of my kids live here in Richmond. Thanks Brown's for hosting me.

Weekend in Raleigh! July 2011

We spent the weekend in NC at Cheslea's with some of our adorable grandkids.

Lindsay and Regan came over and we had a mini- shower for Lindsay ( just she and Chelsea and I).It was fun going through all the totes of Felix's old baby clothes Chelsea was passing down and some new things from Grandma and Grandpa. And we got to see baby Gigi crawl ( she is 6 mos)
and enjoy the other kids. This picture was taken after church and dinner of Gigi ( Marjorie Kate) , Grandpa and I in our red, white and blue clothes. Grandma needs some lipstick. Gigi is in an adorable dress given to her by Aunt Lindsay and Uncle Regan. We had a great time. We are blessed to live close to some of our kids. Thanks Chelsea for the delicious meals.

My Yummy 4th of July Cake

I had a dinner party this July and made this for dessert. It is the Coconut cake I won a bake-off for many years ago. Only this time I added cream cheese to the frosting. It works for many occassions because it is white...but I think it looks pretty cute for a patriotic dinner.

Cow Appreciation Day at Chick-Fil-A

Every year "Chick-Fil- A" does a cow appreciation day. If you dress up in a cow costume, you get a free meal. Greg and I just print off the stuff they provide on their website.....so we can take it off easily ( Greg requires). But my darling grandkids and their friends, make their own costumes. They even made one for their mom this year...but you can''t see her because she was taking the picture. It is a fun activity for kids and builds good will for Chick-Fil-A. And it is probably a genius marketing technique.

I love Chick-Fil-A for many reasons: The food is yummy. They are closed on Sundays. They employ the finest people who have manners and are kind. I like that they say " my pleasure" after everything. They employ darling senior citizen ladies that go around cleaning up the tables and re-filling your drink. The Chick-Fil-A
( I call it mine) even has a craft corner run by Miss Jean. They have a fun indoor playground for the kids. It is a great place for mom's to meet. They have healthy choices of food and special things ( like peach and mint shakes) different times a year. And they donate prizes for my BYUMS Gala every year.

I love their philosophy and the way they treat they employees and the public.
Cow day is a blast but so is any day at Chick-Fil-A.

Chick-Fil-A all the way, go to eat it, will make your day.

Ellie Turned 10!

My beautiful granddaughter, Ellie, turned 10 this summer. She is such a fun and happy girl. I love that she can talk to anyone and has a great sense of humor. She is talented, charming and very loving.

Her mom threw the best birthday party for her. She always does such a nice job on all her parties and activites. I wish I could have been there. But her mom did a little summary on their family blog and I stole a few pictures and her description to show my friends. Here is what she said about the party:

The party was a success. We did and had a lot of Ellie's favorite things. I'll break it down.

Decorations: Ellie's favorite colors. we did green and blue with pink accents.

Food: Ellie picked fruit, pizza, homemade guacamole, bean and corn salsa, diet root beer

Treats: Swedish fish, rieces pieces, skittle blenders

Crafts: make ice cream sandwiches: we had two paradise bakery cookies, put ice cream in between them and rolled the sides in a choice of toppings (nuts, sprinkles, butterscotch chips)

Make a french poof clip: Ellie loves accessories of all kinds. When she saw this one http://www.shopbando.com/french-pouf/prod/383?rc=25 on ban.do she knew she wanted to make it. You can put in in your hair or pin it to a shirt or belt.

Make gumball necklaces: again, an accessory. Everyday, Ellie asks me what necklace she can wear with her outfit. These are cute and not too old or too young for these tween girls.

Activities: we played celebrity charades and watched the movie "a Cinderella Story"

And Grandma Suzie gives kudos to the Roman's girls for planning another successful and fun birthday party. We are so proud of Ellie and what a nice girl she is. We love her and miss her and her whole family.

I Love the Sister Missionaries!

I just love the sister missionaries..they are so great. They surprised me the other night by bringing me by hand dipped strawberries and white chocolate popcorn in red, white and blue with a darling card for my birthday. They are always so thoughtful.

Today I had them over for a fun lunch and a little gift.

I always want to support them in all their efforts...they are awesome girls.

A Fun Birtdhay for me!

I had a great birthday. Good friends took us out to my favorite place for breakfast....Cracker Barrel. Then I spent alot of the day facebooking, emailing, texting and talking on the phone until we went to a cook out. I went to the new fireworks the night before...which was good because it stormed the 4th of July night and fireworks were cancelled in Richmond.

I heard from so many people...I feel so blessed to have so many good friends. One of the benefits of being born on the 4th of July is that most people remember your birthday. I received many fun gifts and I am still partying with lunch dates and other celebrations for the next 2 weeks. But a few of my presents, I had to post on here. Greg got me a NOOK. and a jar of marionberry
jam ( a cousin to Boysenberry..which we can't find here). And Greg's mom, Kathryn handmade me this darling apron.

Thanks everyone for making my birthday so special and helping me feel very loved.

My 4th of July Table 2011

Would like to come to dinner at this table? I decided to get out all my decor this year and enjoy for my birthday. You should see all my dishes...2 boxes are still in the garage. And all the serving pieces are not unpacked yet. I am gradually getting things out and organzied...and it's only July 2nd. It has been like Christmas, I haven't seen some of this stuff for at least 2 years.....do to my knee. I am back in the groove....at least for this month. I even decorated the powder bathroom. Enjoy! Only if you are saying nice things about me and my "stuff" :)
