Denmark calling, day one

July 22nd we headed on a plane to take us away from the rain.

After a short flight we landed in Copenhagen.
We dropped our suitcases at the hotel and headed out for sustenance.
Found a little restaurant called Zalt just off Ströget.

A Club sandwich out of this world good.

Our first stop after the meal was naturally the Lego flagship store.
Two Lego nutters in our crew.
Happy brick time.

If you are in Copenhagen during the warmer months I highly recommend hopping on one of these canal tour boats. I had never realized how many canals there are.
It was a wonderful way to see the city.

Great architecture.
Old and new.

This apartment building used to be a submarine building yard.

Imagine having your office in one of these converted gunboat houses.
Having a bad moment? Just step outside, pull your trouser legs up and dip those feet in the sea.
Yeah, I could deal with that.

They look so cartoonish.

I could also daydream on this foot bridge.

We walked back to the hotel on this main shopping street, with a compulsory stop at Sephora (make-up artist in tow).

We were staying at a very square joint.
Smack downtown.
A block away from Tivoli.

We were also smack in the middle of the restaurant district.
We crossed the street to Tapas Huset for some tapas. Surprise.
Saara and I got some sangria.
Should have been brought with a fork, so much yummy fruit in there.

July- monthly recap

July, not usually one of my favorite months, but it turned out OK as it wasn't very hot :)
Yes, I am a northern wimp when it comes to heat.

As it was cool enough to bake, I tried a new scone recipe to start the month.
Let's just say it looked better than it tasted.. sadly.
Back to the old recipe.

However, talking about tasty! We got to taste my carrot varieties.
A rainbow of sweetness.

Sometimes I like to play with my shadow.

Peony time was late but beautiful.

Pink happiness.

Sometimes I like to play with carrots...

After the required month out came the sieve.

Delicious. And strong.
Best schnapps I've ever tasted.

I need this variety.
Need.

Packing up at my dad's house with my bro, we came across this gem of a photo from circa 1979-1980. He's on a business trip in Florida...
The outfit though.
And the comb over flying.
Never mind the socks and shoes with the outfit.
I shudder to think of the 1980's gems my kids will dig up a few decades from now...

Well hello frog.

Train station light play.

Sunflowers on my toes.

Woke up to major thunder right on top of us one morning.
I woke up to the lightnings, my oldest woke up with a scream at the noise.. And I was reduced to giggles.

Preparations for the miniature fair..

After the rain at my in-laws' place.

I have a thing for rust, found these old scissors on top of the well.

Had a great time at the fair.
Even Remu attended, both in miniature and 1:1 size :)

We went to Denmark for a few days. (photos coming).
I got myself a Lego mug.

I really love skies like this.

Stopping in the forest to pick some berries.
A great year for blueberries! And wild strawberries.

Out with a friend one day and we started with ice cream before going for a few glasses of champagne.
Yeah, these were pretty good.

We stopped at the Design museum and their exhibit: The Anthology of Finnish Fashion.
A few hilarious items from the 70's and a few cringe worthy "ohmygodIactuallyworethat?!?!" moments.
We would have liked to know just how much this men's shirt completely covered in not so small Svarovski crystals weighed... The doll was supported by four wires...

Best museum sign ever.
