Color Throw Down Challenge #266 - Let It Snow!


Hi Everyone!
Today is my last day as the October Guest Designer for the Color Throw Down Challenge and I am so so so sad to leave - but so honored and grateful to have had this honor and chance to play along! Thank you lovely CTD ladies for being an inspiration, for your friendship and sweetness! You guys rock! I have loved the Color Throwdown Challenge since the very first challenge -  every Weds. a different color combo with an inspiration photo is given and you can create any project you want with the colors (even if you don't have the exact colors, just use what you have that kinda  matches and play along!) 

 Here are the colors for this weeks challenge - so so so cooool -some how the green and red made me want to make a Christmas card - even though tomorrow is Halloween :) So I made a fun little card using the Baby, It's Cold Outside stamp set with the Shake It Up snowglobe die from Taylored Expressions - such a fun stamp set!



Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Baby, It's Cold Outside stamp set from Taylored Expressions
Inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, Distress Tumbled Glass, Ladybug Red and copics
Papers: Webster's Pages: It's Christmas, Bazzill cardstock and Choice Snow White cardstock from TE
Accessories: snowflakes punch MS, bling, foam dimensionals, corner chomper, Shake It Up die from TE 



I stamped the image of the village and then colored it in with copics using the colors from the CTD challenge this week. I then cut it out using the Shake It Up snowglobe die and added the sentiment to the bottom of the snowglobe. I layered some of the DP from Websters and tied it up with some ribbon and added some snowflake with a little bit of bling to the center. You can't really see it, but after finishing the card, I added some gloss to the snowglobe to create some feeling of glass. :) 

I truly loved making this card and have absolutely loved my time as a guestie for the CTD challenge :) Thank you SO much ladies for having me over this month!

Color Throw Down #265 - Hugs & Kisses

Hi Everyone!
I am so super excited to have been asked to be the guest designer for the Color Throw Down Challenge for the month of October!! YAYAY!!!  Every Weds. a different color combo with an inspiration photo is given and you can create any project you want with the colors (even if you don't have the exact colors, just use what you have that kinda  matches and play along!) 

 Here are the colors for this weeks challenge - so so so cooool - what an awesome set of colors together - so soft and sweet and I love those birch trees - so that is where I started creating my project with! Here is what I came up with for the challenge :)
Card Ingredients:

Stamps: Many Minis - Holidays stamp set 
Inks: Not Quite Navy from SU!
Papers: SU!: Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Canteloupe and Bazzill cardstock - TE Choice Snow White Cardstock
Accessories: sponge dauber, twine, glaze, grass punch from MS, Best Glue Ever


I pulled out my Birch Tree Border die from Taylored Expressions and ran it twice with some white and brown sugar card stock (creating a shadow with the brown card stock). I didn't have any gorgeous Pistachio Pudding card stock but cut out some leaves from the closest color I could find and arranged them on the trees with a bit of glaze on them. I stamped the sentiment "Hugs & Kisses" from the Many Minis - Holidays stamp set and then die cut it with the Designer Mini Tags to hang it on the tree and finished it off with some sweet little birds using the Birds & Branches die from TE. And just for some fun, I added some flowers on the bottom of the trees from the Bugabee Flowers die.

 I loved playing along with these colors and I can't wait to see all lovely creations that the amazing DT have created over at the Color ThrowDown - please play along if you have a chance!!!

Taylored Expressions October Studio Challenge




Hi Everyone!

It's Time for the final Baker's Dozen Studio Challenge from Taylored Expressions - where every month we come together to share what makes our stamping studios hum! We have a fun challenge along a certain theme or question and we share our favorite tips, tricks or advice and more! The theme for the month of October is : Never Felt Better!! :)

Felt is all the rage in crafting.  It's so thick and soft and gives that special warm and cozy feeling to fall and winter projects.  TE has 21 yummy colors to choose from, but do you ever just stare at all that felt and think, "Hmmmm...what should I do with it?"

 I love the feeling of felt and this challenge was just a great way of reminding me to use my felt stash - sometimes I seem to forget my felt stash, but I always love the feeling of felt on cards - it adds such a nice soft texture and feeling to any project :)! For my project today, I created a fun fall card using the Love Grows Here stamp set from TE and created a scene using some of the Build a Scene dies: Sunshine and Build a Scene dies: Rolling Hills.




I cut out the hills (using the Build a Scene dies: Rolling Hills) with two different shades of felt (Taylored Felt: Grass Green and Taylored Felt: Split Pea). I have  a Big Shot and the dies cut the felt easily! 
Some advice with felt that I have learned:
  • it is nice to run the felt a couple of times through the machine with the die in place (back and forth a couple of times) just to ensure a clean and crisp cut in the felt
  • I have used the Best Glue Ever to attach my felt to cardstock in the past (only a small amount is needed) but for this card , I used some sticky tape on the back and then laid down my hill where I wanted it to go - and it was a smooth transition to adhere the felt to the cardstock (one layer has some foam behind it so as to create some dimension.
To recreate this card:
  1. Create a cloudy sky using the Cloud Border Die
  2. Separately colored and cut the different trees from the Love Grows Here stamp set.
  3. Die cut the rolling hills using the Build a Scene dies: Rolling Hills) with Taylored Felt: Grass Green and Split Pea)
  4. Die cut the sun and add a button to the center with a sentiment on the side
  5. Wrap the bottom of the card with some ribbon and corner chomp the bottom of the card and then adhere to cardstock
Here is a closer peek at the rolling felt hills - I love the soft feeling of the hills and the alternating colors of the felt :)
Here is another view of the card - I love how it turned out and it was so much fun to color the leaves as I watch the leaves changing outside my window :)

Inks: Memento LadyBug Red and Tuxedo Black
Paper: Show White Choice cardstock
Accessories:  Build a Scene dies: Rolling Hills with Taylored Felt: Grass Green and Split Pea), Cloud Border die, foam, corner chomper, orange grosgrain ribbon, copics, button, twine

Color Throwdown Challenge #264: Thinking of You



Hi Everyone,

I am so super excited to have been asked to be the guest designer for the Color Throwdown challenge for the month of October!!!  Every Wednesday a different color combo with an inspiration photo is given and you create any project that combines those colors in any way you want! Even if you don't have exactly the right colors - its totally fine - just jump on it and play along! So that's what I did for today's challenge - I love that awesome jacket in the inspiration picture - isn't it sooo cool (and those shoes! yes!)

For my attempt at the card - I used the sweet Birds of a Feather stamp set and stamped the sweet bird cage in Night of Navy ink from SU! and the Calypso Coral ink for the sweet birdie and the attached the image to the mats of the different blue colors. I didn't have SU! papers but used somewhat similar colors papers I had that were the closest. I love this silver paper that was from a dear friend and adds a fun texture to the card. 

Card Ingredients:
Stamps: Birds of a Feather from Taylored Expressions
Inks: SU! Coral and Night of Navy
Papers: Bazzill cardstock
Accessories: Best Glue Ever, Pennant Border die, bling, ribbon, circle punch, twine, dimensionals

I added some bling, pennants and some ribbon to the side along with a hanging sentiment: "Thinking of You". I love how this turned out and one of the best parts of playing along with this challenge is getting to play with colors that you normally wouldn't play with and to see how everyone else played along with the challenge and seeing the magic they created with these colors - so much fun! :)

Congratulations!

Hi Everyone!

 Just wanted to share a quick project that I made for one of my friend's daughter who is graduating in 2013 (even though the spring/summer is a common graduating time for some, the end of the first semester can be the time for some who graduate a little early :)

 I love all the graduating Mokas from Taylored Expressions so I used both Moka Skylar and Moka Jerome to create my card - along with the Dream Big stamp set from TE.  I wanted to keep the color layout simple and used my scraps to create this graduation card - I love how it turned out :)
 Here is another angle of the card. I created a longer card so that I could enclose some money on the inside. I rounded the corners on the top and then added the stamped Moka Skylar with the sentiment from the Moka Jerome stamp set:




For the inside of the card - I added a little corner for inserting money and rounded it by hand and added the sentiment" so very proud of you" with a little heart underneath. Here is a closer peek at the sweet little Moka - I colored her in with my copics and added a little row of blinged hearts with some ribbon under the image panel:

Inks: Bahama Blue and Tuxedo Black
Papers: Choice Snow White cardstock
Accessories: Dimensionals, bling, heart punch, corner chomper, ribbon and copics
 
 The best part of making this card was making it for someone very special  - I love making cards and giving them to my sweet friends - can't wait to give this one soon - so proud :)
