Good bye 2017 & 2018

It have been my tradition on new year to update the blog and  jot down all the wonderful things over the past year. I just noticed that I didn’t write one for 2017, I was too busy. Therefore I will write both years.
2017 was “the year of changes” so far. First I was promoted to be the QMS manager. I wanted to be a manager for a long time, but it had become more unrealistic to get promoted when Manitoba Harvest acquired Hemp Oil canada. There are two QA Managers when both companies merged. I didn’t give up , I am glad that they gave me the position regardless of knowing that I am going on Mat leaves. Secondly, I was pregnant with a baby. Being a pragnant women, I felt big and could not sleep well. I was so excited to first time hear my baby heart beat, first time knowing my baby is a bay boy. After 9 months of pregnancy, Baby Rylan was borned. I feel like Life is a miracle when I first hold the baby in my arm.  Rylan is a very good baby. Third change was we found a house then we like. After looking for a house for about three years, I finally able to buy a house we think it can fit us till we are old. We chose to sell the house by ourselves, and we did. We moved out and in on Dec. We went around shopping for furnitures and settling ourselves at our new home. This explained why I didn’t have time update blog. A new house and a new baby,  thanks goodness I have a year of Mat leaves! That is how my 2017 been.

2018, was a year of relaxing and knowing my baby. I have nine months with him everyday. We went back to Malaysia for Chinese New Year. This has been my 10 years away from home for the special festival. We went to Calgary and Banff in fall before the end of my Mat leaves. In Sep, I finally went back to work. Rylan is in day care. He always sick after going to daycare. The first two months at work wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. Only was hard as there were many new team members . Things changes and the company and people weren’t like what and who they were when I left. I decided to just focus on improving myself after all. 2018, I will think it is a year to feel family love. My baby Rylan is growing everyday . First time crawling, first time standing and walking, he is so cute. I don’t want him to grow so quickly.

Good bye 2016

I forgot to post good bye 2016 a year ago. Let me think what actually happened in 2016 that worth writing it down now.

In year 2016, I travel a lot. Knowing that I am planning to have a baby in 2017, I want to travel as much as I can. First, i went to Tampa for BRC business conference. I am glad the date went out well that at the end of the conference, there was a. raise leaving Tampa. Roger flew in and joined me for the four days three nights cruise trip. It was our first time been on a cruise. It was relaxing, i enjoyed soaking in a hot tub, had a fancy drink on deck, gym time, and unlimited food on the cruise. We went to Cozumel island and the beach. It was a short but fun time.

In Sep, I had a bestie’s trip with Kunyi and Chia Lei at Montreal and Quebec. Kunyi met a guy there but unfortunately it didn’t work out well for her. In Montreal, we had very nice food at food truck fare. We hadn’t drinks at night. The night life in Montreal and Quebec is amazing. I haven’t been clubbing for a while, the club in Quebec is awesome and fun.

Next, i traveled. back to Malaysia for my sister’s wedding. It was a beautiful day with joys andy tears. Joyful for seeing my sister married a good husband, tears for feeling touchy that my sister is belong to someone reliable after failing a few relationships prior. I wish her Happy life every after!

Lastly, we went to Japan with my family. It was a nice experience seeing Tokyo but i think i don’t really like Japan. Japan ishtar most populated metropolitan at the time, which means it is super duper crowder. Traffic is busy, high cost living and fast pace movement. I wonder how japanese live in this stressful environment every day. I feel exhausted even though i only spent a few days there. The most memorable experience in Japan was Hakone and Onsen. The hot spring centre is very nice. At first, i was shy and worried for being naked in front of people and family. After a while, i think it is nice being naked in hot water. Food in Japan is good.

At the end of 2016, after all the trips, i had a surgery for bunion. Bunion caused me pain for a long time, and finally i made the decision to take a few weeks off work to get it done. The recovery time was super painful. I had to use crutches for weeks or sit on an office chairs to move around. I am glad i did the surgery, it means i can play more badminton and travel a,it more in the future without worrying the bunion pain.

Good bye 2016, let’s move on to the new adventure i. 2017. My goal for 2017 is to have a baby and get promoted.

Good bye 2015

While looking back the year 2015, I have a mix feeling. I am happy that I gained so much experience over the year but at the same time I am sad that it gone too quick. It is my last year before reaching the age of 30. It is already one third of my life span if I work till 90 years old.

  1. If I want to give a title to describe year 2015, it would be The Career Year. It was not because of promotion or salary raise at work, but more about the professionalism improvement in my career. I traveled to Florida, SK, Montreal, LA, MB, Chicago, Edmonton, Calgary for business trips, achieved Certified HACCP auditor title, achieved A+ score with one non-conformance in global food safety audit at my company, attended BRC conference, successfully convert the paper documentation system to Electronic system, got good 360 reviews from coworkers, attended more trainings, and met a few professionals in my field. I appreciated all the learning opportunities given to me, and I look forward to 2016 for more challenges!
  2. Holiday! I really inspired by Work life balance culture this year. While working hard, I traveled for leisure every quarter. I went to Chicago beginning of the year, went to Orlando Florida and Disney world in March, went to Calgary for Canada badminton Open in July, went back to Malaysia in Sep. We signed up westjet credit card so that we can travel very often in the future.
  3. Restructuring the basement. I always think that the furniture in the living room is too bulky and the wiring system in the basement is a mess. Roger and I successfully restructure the tv and wiring system to another wall, and placed the couch to the basement. This has greatly increased the seating areas in the basement, and more empty in the living room.
  4. Christmas party. We host a Christmas party for the Fenwick Community. This is a chance to get to know my neighbors better.
  5. Painting. One of the goals of the year, successfully improved my painting skill. Have a lot of paintings all over the house, able to paint a few paintings for friends. Type of paintings has included landscaping, abstract, sketching, portraits, modern paring and stencils paintings.
  6. Completed most of the goals.

1) Swim- Learn how to swim!Done!
2) Painting- Paint a painting monthly, Done!
3) No work issue at home- Not working from home or bringing issues back from work. Done! only work 8 hours still get good feedback on inititiative and efficiency.
4) Career development- Get CHA certificate. Done!
5) Badminton- win A consolation in tournament with my dear. Not done, but we went into A Semis!!
6) A good wife- Be a hardworking wife and cook a lot for my husband. Done and to be continued forever.

Good Bye 2014

2014 is a year full of good experiences and memories. First of all, I married to my Mr. Right. I feel grateful to met him in Canada and became his wife.  I strongly believe in faith now because after so many years of uncertainties in my life, I found my soul-mate. My greatest memory of the year was the time we spent in preparing for our wedding. After the proposal, we decided two dates. One for the reception in Malaysia and one for our actual wedding day in Canada. We chose photographers, honeymoon destination and venues of the receptions and ceremony. Then, we spent tons of time buying items for our wedding decorations. These moment are precious, we understood each other so well throughout the entire planning, organizing and preparation for our wedding.
Of course, the actual wedding day was the nicest day in my life. It was a rainy day but the joys and fun brighten the sky. I was almost crying at the moment my dad walking me down the aisle and my husband giving his wedding vow. At that second, I knew that he is the man I have been looking for in my entire life; a man who loves me from his bottom of his heart and whose personality matches mine, to create a simple and happy life and family together.
Besides the wedding, we travelled a lot in 2014. We went to Malaysia, Bali, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Hollywood, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Chicago. Malaysia was a short three weeks holiday with  wedding photography in Cameron Highland, a wedding reception with live Thomas Cup badminton tournament and meetings with friends. Bali was a nice trip of relaxation with a biking trip along the rice field, a romantic dinner by a poolside restaurant and spa in a luxury hotel. The US trip with family was also a good one. Spending time with my entire family made me realised that my parents are getting older. I am grateful that my dad is still healthy and able to travel with us after his heart attack incident back in 2010. My year end trip to Chicago was a perfect trip to end the great year of 2014. I like Chicago as it is a very architectural and systematic city. I wish I can move to this city and live in an urbanized environment.
Long story short, 2014 is fantastic.  This is the beginning to my new chapter of life with my husband. I believe the future will be greater, and I am looking forward to 2015 and the future.

New year resolution

1) lose weight- target 99lb. First, i have to cut down my ice cream intake. I have no idea why I eat so much ice cream ever since i came to Canada. I eat ice cream to reduce my stress or just simply because ice cream is  cheap and tasty here. Second, I need to cut down snacking while watching tv. Third, play more badminton and lastly, daily workout at home. I want to be a skinny, pretty and healthy bride this year!!
2) stop biting nails. biting nails is one of my bad habit since young. I knew how much bacteria grew on nails, but I can't stop it as I Don't' realize I had bitten my nails until I saw my nails are short all the time.
3) better financial management- continue doing my earning and expenses account
4) Be contented- I think I complained a lot. Most of my complains are just to release my stress. I should feel lucky to have a great family, a lovely man as my future husband, and a healthy body.
5) Self improvement for career- I need to work smart at this company. I set a goal to be a supervisor three years from my graduation date, and I did it. Right now, I want to be a manager in two years. I want to learn as much as possible and be a great leader.

Good Bye 2013

Today is the last day of 2013. this has been an interesting year as there were some great memories and changes.

In the beginning of the year, I was very busy at Dunn-Rite. My QA manager just started her maternity leaves and would not be back till end of the year. As a QA Supervisor, I have gained new knowledge and experience. My leadership and communication skill has improved dramatically. I was very happy that I can fit in the company well and have very good friendships with some of my coworkers. I went to Vancouver for a half business and half leisure trip. The great thing is the company paid for the whole trip.

I had  a good time with my dear and his family. Having dinner at the revolving restaurant at the Top of Vancouver, riding a tandem with my dear at Stanley Park, visiting the aquarium, having Malaysian Food, visitng the Whistler are all amazing time in Vancouver. The most wonderful moment was the surprise proposal at the Shanon Fall on May 4th, 2013. I will never forget long speech he has spoken with exchanged of my three words, " Yes, I Do".

Another wonderful moment was the two weeks vacation with my family. It was the first time my family ever came to visit me who has been living in Canada for 5 years. We went to Toronto, New York City, Washington, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City. After the short trip, my parents had stayed for 3 months. I was the their little princess at home.  All housework and cooking are taken care of. Thank you Mumy and Daddy. You are the best!

I had some dilemma and could not make decision for a few days in June of whether I could change my job. I had enjoying my work at Dunn-Rite as there are a lot of good and friendly people, and it is just 5 mins away from my house. Even though my family didn't support me but I had made up my mind to accept the new challenge. Then, I went to the current company- Manitoba Harvest. At the beginning, I was 't a supervisor and I didn't feel the challenge. However, I was promoted to be a HACCP Coordinator and then Food Safety Supervisor in 3 months. The day when we achieved A score in BRC is my most happy moment in my career life. The hard work and team work are well worthy.

Thank you 2013. I saw myself grow in this year. I have become tougher and more experience. I am looking forward to 2014. I want to see myself improve in varies perspectives. I will put more effort on my family and career comes second. I am looking forward and will be busy preparing for my wedding in 2014.
