Bear jumping from the back to the front of the tee. One ink with a belt printer.

Getting ready for Easter, I was asked by Mars Hill Church to come up with illustrations for the kids ministry. I found it difficult to make a kid friendly Crucified Jesus. But they were happy with it. This is also part of a coloring book. Turn off the color layers and they have some solid bw lines to fill in!

Billboard Illustrations For McDonalds Filet-o-fish

I was recently commissioned for a pretty sweet illustration opportunity with McDonalds for the filet-o-fish "Tales From the Sea" campaign. Had to crack all five out from sketches to finals in five days too which was interesting. Unfortunately the billboards are only being used for a St. Louis, MO metro campaign though (not national). So if you're in St. Louis keep eye out and see if you can spot all five! Below are a few pics that have been sent back to me of them out "in the wild"...

Batman 853rd Century Version

Ok, maybe, just maybe, you've never heard of this Batman before, and maybe you have, but I just found out about him yesterday while reading Superman Batman # 80 and I loved the way he looked so much that I had to draw him. Pretty standard typical image here, a lot like my Big Fat Batman image, but I hope you still enjoy it.
Penciled in Manga Studio EX 4. Inked with Kuretake brush pen on bristol board.

Dexter Samples 7 & 8

Here are my latest Dexter samples - one of Jennifer Carpenter as Deborah Morgan and the other of Julie Benz as Rita Morgan. I think I made Deborah's lips a little too big but nailed the eyes. Apart from a little adjustment to the eyes I think I got Rita pretty well spot on.

Ratfist Video

Wanted to post this yesterday along with the Ratfist image I did but it was taking to long to post on Youtube. But better late then never. This is a 7 minute first person view of me inking Ratfist with the Kuretake brush pen and later the Kolinsky brush. I really enjoy this method of digital pencils and traditional inks. It's practically the best of both worlds.

We had our Wednesday Sketchup session last night at Starbucks. I managed to pencil another slightly over-weight Wolverine in my Moleskine.

Ratfist!

One of the things I love about Twitter is discovering new artists I've never heard of before. Doug TenNapel's one of the many Artists I've come to find out about thanks to Twitter. Doug's been around for years creating a slew of graphic novels like Monster Zoo, which I happen to own. His art is amazing and his story telling is masterful. It was no surprise that I was excited when he announced he was going to do a web comic called Ratfist. If you haven't read Ratfist, then you're missing out. I highly recommend it. For today's warm up piece I decided to draw Ratfist himself. This was drawn digitally in Manga Studio EX and inked traditionally with Kuretake brush pen and Kolinsky brushes. I made a video of me inking this but I'll post it tomorrow.

Big Fat Superman

I had so much fun with Big Fat Batman I wanted to follow it up with a Big Fat Superman. Both Batman and this Superman are inspired from the Frank Miller Drak Knight Returns graphic novels.
Drawn in Manga Studio EX. Inked with Kuretake brush pen. Colored in Photoshop and texture added via Flare App.

Here are the commissions for tonight's $10 personal sketch-cards. Both of these are for Chris; he requested one of Christina Lindberg as Frigga / Madeleine / One-Eye from Thriller: They Call Her One-Eye, and one of Devon Aoki as Miho from Sin City.

As of March 12th, I will be hosting a weekly (hopefully bi-weekly) art-cast on Ustream - most likely on Saturday and Sunday nights.

There will be five (5) slots open each time; all cards will be $10 each plus $2.50 postage. You can request anything you like (comic, movie, video game characters) and you can reserve multiple slots. So far there are two (2) slots open for Saturday, March 19th and five (5) for March 20th.

As of March 12th, 2011, I will be hosting a weekly (potentially bi-weekly) art cast on Ustream at 10pm EST (7pm PST). Hopefully I can keep it consistent on Saturday and/or Sunday nights. Check back on my blog or on my DA page for weekly updates.

HOW IT WILL WORK:

Is Ophiuchus a new addition to the zodiac family? - An illustration
to the article describing the subject (ESS newspaper).

I have drawn two different versions of the picture: one with white
and the other with orange background. The orange is referring more
to the style of ancient Greek pottery. The picture with
white background was chosen to be most suitable one.
