Fishing trip 18th April 2009
Went on a 2D1N offshore fishing trip in Malaysia somewhere near Mersing with my dad and his friends yesterday. Damn fun. Final count is 2 parrot fish, 3 garoupa, 10 sotong and countless small fishes. It was an eye opener for me this time. Damn spectacular. Saw a very huge sailfish jump into the air when on the hook of the boatman. Pity the line broke when it was about to come up. They estimated it to be around the size of an adult and around 50kg or 60kg. We even caught a glimspe of a herd of wild dolphins swimming by. Luckily they did not come close enough to get hooked by our fishing hooks. Lol.
We set off early in the morning at 5am yesterday and started driving to malaysia. The road on the malaysia checkpoint has been changed recently. Now there's more space for them to have a jam because they shifted the immigration counter more inland. Quite a clever move. Lol. Went to pick up a friend of my dad in johor before speeding off to Mersing. The trip took us about 2 hours in the car. Only pity that i did not get to drive as its not my dad's car that we are in. We stopped in a town near the jetty for breakfast and met up with the rest of the fishing khakis before we proceeded to the jetty to begin our journey. The weather was great and the waves are small, ideal for a day of fishing.
