Is It Over?

Once again, the end of a course is nearing. Theoretically, i have already completed my boatman course, as i have already completed my finale exercise, Exercise Shark. Now, i am only left with the final week of my course and 2 more weeks of NTM (Notice To Move) training, before i turn fully operational, and maybe have an easier life, hopefully.

Exercise Shark was crazy. I seriously don't know how i survived it. Actually i didn't really survive it well, cuz i am now sick from the exertions of the exercise. Like mentioned before in my previous post, we had minimal sleep during the exercise. Like only 3 hours a day picked up here and there when we had some free time, Although the exercise was both physically and mentally very draining, it was quite fun. It was the first time we actually sailed out to more choppy waters and we even learn how to operate the boat motor standing, or rather, sitting on top of the motor. The trip from Seletar Camp to East coast park near Bedok Jetty took about 5 hours, and starting from the sea off the coast of Changi beach, the water started to get quite choppy. There was times when the whole boat actually lifted off the water and was practically flying in mid air. A bit scary, but very fun. Some of my friends got sea sick and stuff. So it was very funny also.

I spent my Mid Autumn Festival driving a boat from Seletar Camp past Punggol Jetty, past Coney Island, past Changi beach, all the way to Bedok jetty and we spent our night at East Coast Park preparing our stores and resting while looking at kids playing lanterns. Beat that. LOL. The only sucky thing is that i am in my super stinky green No.4 Army uniform, only one set for the whole of the exercise. At 12am we set off back to camp in our assault boats and reached back at camp around 5am plus in the morning.

My course will be ending soon and hope that life will be better after that. Everything that has a beginning has an end. Hurray. But don't congratulate me yet, for it has not officially ended. It will only officially end after my Passing Out Parade.

Final Exercise: Exercise Shark

It has been 5 weeks since i came into 35SCE Boat Company to start my training to become a boatman. My 7 weeks Boatman Course is now finally reaching an end and the only thing that is now standing in my way is the final summary exercise of wad we had learn over this 5 weeks or so. Surely, it was not easy, but now that its coming to an end, i will just do my best. Exercise shark will be very tough, both physically. So, i am actually dreading it. On a summary, Exercise Shark will start this Monday and end this Wednesday. On Monday, in the day, we will be preparing the stores and equipment required for the exercise, then around evening, we will set off to our field deployment site, where we will dig our shellscrape, stay on alert, have stand-two, camouflage vehicle, creating an outfield base overnight. So, no need to sleep liao. Thats crazy. On Tuesday morning, we will break camp and proceed to launch our boats. Destination, East Coast Park. Near the Bedok jetty area as i heard. Once there, we will have our coastal hook operation, a simulated operation of dropping infantry into enemy land from the sea, where we beach in an the coast. Never sleep the night before, we will surely be like half dead liao. Once we done our Coastal Hook operation nice nice, we will then get to rest and sleep for a while in the afternoon, before we have a night navigation lesson at night, learning at how to look at the beacon and offshore bouys, and also the lights of the ships. Wad the masthead lights mean we have already covered in the lecture, but how to see them we will learn then. At around 12am or 1am at night, we will then proceed back to camp, reaching at estimated 6am in the morning. After delaunching and keeping everything, we will then pang kang. End of the summary exercise. Once i finish the summary exercise, i am as good as completed my course liao. Waiting only for the official pass out, which will happen only during the next week.

This week, i just had a field deployment exercise. It sucks, digging of shellscrape and all. One thing about being on alert sucks. Alert means cannot sleep, must prone there and be alert in case of enemy attack. Difficult la. Sure sleep one. Sleep get caught we will sure kenna. PC say if get caught will be confined for the weekend to paint the platoon office. Haha. Next week, during the Exercise Shark hope that i dun sleep and get caught.

Anyway, this weekend i better rest well. So that i won't be so tired for my Exercise Shark. Hope to share with you how fun and well my exercise shark went. Heard from the seniors that this exercise will be the most fun one we will do during our course and it will also be the most tiring one.

So cute! Love the song. Love the MV.

Xiao Zhu -"Hao Peng You(Good Friend)" MV ft. Ariel Lin

Ariel was wearing a wedding gown at the beginning because she was going to marry some guy. But she decided that she didn't want to marry that guy, and came to Show's (Xiao Zhu) house. Ariel and Show are "good friends" so apparently they're not "supposed to" like each other. He then tells her if he's supposed to comfort her...she nods. Then he laughs and says that he was just joking. She smiles because after all, they're JUST FRIENDS.

While they're sitting on the bed, he tells her that when he was 17 he could give her happiness, but now that he's 27 he could only wish her happiness (meaning that they can't be together or something). She gets upset and throws a fit. She asks him if he knew why she didn't get married and came over to his place instead. Then she admits to liking him. She stops and he's stunned. She then pretends that she was just joking and runs away.
In the behind-the-scenes on the making of the video, near the last cut of the video, where they were standing with a wall between them where he says "Eh".. he actually said "i like you" afterwards

.. would you rather be good friends for a lifetime or be brave enough to be her/his boy/girl friend once?...

Saturday Outing

Today is Saturday and i went out with the :c9: ppl for some gathering and to celebrate Guo Wei's belated birthday. Guo Wei, Melissa and me started to meet at 12pm at Bishan, before we went to town to hang around. After walking around, we sat down outside pepper lunch at wisma and played Bomberman on our PSP cuz Yong Siang wanted to eat at pepper lunch and we were waiting for him. Multiplayer with PSP is always very fun. LOL. After lunch, Jun Jie came cuz he just booked out today at around noon. Soon after, YS left to meet up with his girlfriend to watch movie. Heck. Dun care la. Haha. JJ wanted to go shopping for some clothes cuz he needed some nice onces for his OCS social night on Monday. I ended up buying a polo shirt and a belt at Topman together with JJ. Haha. Love shopping. NS makes me crazy.

After that, we went to Bugis for some steamboat. We sat there and ate lots of food for damn long and just like long lost friends, we chatted non stop. Lots of things to talk about. OCS life, Boatman life, poly attachment student life and lots of other rubbish. Played more of PSP also. Just too bad only Melissa and me has PSP. Both pink also. Hey. Pink PSP is nice lor. Haha. Time passes quickly when having fun. So quickly, one day passed just like that. At least we had lots of fun. How can anyone disagree with that?

Busy week up ahead in the army for me. Coming up this week is Exercise Fireant, which is about field deployment during attachment to infantry or guards unit. It will be another field camp just like in Tekong, with the digging of shellscrape and stuff, only that this time it will be more of the base structure and less of the outfield fire movement. So tml i will have to go get prepared for the exercise liao. Going buy the equipment that i am still missing also. 2 more exercises, Fireant and Shark, till i pass out as operational boatman. I am still waiting for that day. Haha. Last week, i had Exercise Dolphin, which is about Coastal Hook Operation, where we as boatman, learn and practice the procedure of ferrying infantry soldiers along the coast and then beach-in to drop them behind the enemy line. Learning beach-in is damn fun la. Its like charging the boat at the shore and then stopping the engine and lifting the propeller up at the last moment before hitting shore to prevent the propeller being grounded. Thats damn fun. But still, as usual, i hate the launching and delaunching part. Thats the worst part of being a boatman.

Jun Jie is going to become an Infantry Officer, and if just nice, in the future, he is going to be posted to BMTC, he will actually have the chance to become the platoon commander for those poly guys like Guo Wei when they enlist to the army. Then if just nice, he is to be posted to the SIR Batellions (Singapore Infantry Regiment), we will have quite a high chance of meeting up in operation when they are training or learning River Crossing Operation, Assault Crossing operation, and Coastal Hook Operation where they require the usage of my boats. There is only one boat company in the SAF excluding those in the commandos and i am in one of the 3 operational platoons.

Its still quite far to think of such things, as i have not finished my course yet, and JJ will have another half a year before he commission as an officer. So, its just appropriate that i do my best and complete my training first and leave the rest to fate.

Boatman Course

The training to be a boatman is crazy. Everyday launch boats and delaunch boats. With timing to meet also. All the equipment is so bloody heavy. Time in the water is fun, but time on land sucks. My job as a boatman is very important. In case of war or exercise, when i am required to operate the assault boat for river crossing operations or coastal hook operations, the success of a section of infantry lies on my capabilities. So, nonetheless, training has to be tough. Just survive my boatman course and my life will be easier after that.

If you watched the national day parade, the boat that i am learning to operate is the one that ferried the MCs from the sea to the right side of the floating platform, the one that went on a so called race with the dragon boat, and the same type of boat was used to operate the jellyfish during the show segment. Operating the boat is easy, but the parking is difficult. Never shut and lift the motor up fast enough and the boat will get grounded. Shut and lift the motor up too early and the boat will not be fast enough to reach the shore. Anyway practice makes perfect. Thats why everyday we will have to launch the boats.

Launch and delaunch everday takes at least 3 hours a day and it depends on the tide also. There was once we had to do the combat delaunch because the tide was too low for us to use the slipway at the boatshed and we had to cary the boats and all the equipment for about 100m to our boatshed to keep and store all our equipment. That was crazy. We too 4 hours plus to finish it and as a matter of fact, we started the delaunch at 10.30 pm. That day, we were only able to sleep at around 3.30am and we had to wake up at 6.30am to carry on with our training for the next day. Everybody was like half dead and some even overslept and caused the whole platoon to be punished for being late.

I don't want to lead an army life. But wad can i do. The letter came and i lan lan have to serve lor. Haha. Heard that this week will be worse because of the even more packed training schedule. Plus i will be having an exercise coming up this week and the week after also. That seriously sucks. Next week is my ops manning period and i may be activated to go back to camp for mobilisation during the weekend. So, If you see the codeword SWIFT TANK or TRUMP CARD being flashed on TV screens or anywhere else, do give me a call to tell me that i have been activated. Thats my life. 35SCE Boatman.

Life's Like That.

Its Sunday once again and soon i will be booking in back into camp for training. Hopefully i will be able to book out once again next friday. This week, i will be starting to do wad a boatman really does, which is to go out to sea. It will be both fun and tough. Anyway, no matter what, i will have to go through it. Only when i complete my training i will have a better life in camp.

Going off liao. Hopefully i see you this coming weekend. Bye.
