Bathroom Redo

The upstairs bathroom is pretty much complete- at least if you want to take a bath. Hopefully we will have the shower rod and curtain up in the next day or two. I will also put on the drawer pulls as soon as I finish this post. Had to stop by Lowe's and pick up a template so I drilled in the right place.

Oh, and we also still need a mirror. The one I like from Restoration Hardware is $246, which is just insane. So, I make frequent trips to Home Goods in the hopes of finding something similar.

Here is the nearly gutted before pic. I thought I had taken photos of the nastiness that came with the house, but maybe I deleted them.  Just an FYI, cast iron tubs are heavy and quite difficult to remove.

And, my attempt at Sarah Richardson style, After...

What I've Been Up To

People probably wonder what I do all day while the kids are away. I've been working on multiple projects while our bathroom renovation is coming to a close (finally.) Pictures of that hopefully in a day or two.

Once complete I will tackle Carlie's room. I've spent most of the summer refinishing furniture acquired free or almost free on Craigslist. My latest project was refinishing and reupholstering a cane back chair the previous owner of our home kindly left for us.

This is what it looked like before, although I had already taken off the nasty green, stained, felt like satin fabric that was on the back of the chair. Eww.

Here's the after. I think it turned out quite nicely, and all that really matters is that Carlie loves it.

And with a pretty pink pillow...

Fabulous, is it not? Off to go paint some baseboards for the bathroom.

It's taken awhile, but here are some pictures of the kids from their first day of school.
