WOULD LIKE TO WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY CHRISTMAS

Monday, 23 December 2013

This is the first pair of wet felted slippers I have made, I had fun and enjoyed making them, I'm quite amazed that I managed to make the two more or less the same size and that they fit beautifully. Will add some stitch and beads when they have dried out. Will I make another pair, maybe once the blistered have healed on the side of my hand, and only for a size 6.

Thought I had better finish this fella before the festive season is over, he's been armless for quite sometime, he wasn't going to have arms, but he didn't look right like the little Santas, this santa is just over 12 inches tall and created by needle felting.

Meet Josie, a needle felted fairy, would make a lovely little gift or hang on the tree.

Had a lovely day out on Friday at the Woolfest near Cockermouth. There was lots of fleeces, wool and fibres. Lots of things to feel and touch. I bought a bag of wensleydale locks, just lovely to look at, feel and touch, then put back in the bag until I decide what to do with them.

Saturday, 22 June 2013

Poppies always are a good source of inspiration for my textile work.

Monday, 17 June 2013

Had a brilliant day yesterday at a workshop on contemporary felt making by tutor Sheila Smith. Look out for her latest book on felt making, should be out in August or September, I've had a sneak look at the book, its going on my wish list. Here's the piece of felt I make.

Friday, 14 June 2013

Not much stitching but quite a lot of weeding.

Tuesday, 4 June 2013

Wow,after 20 months the tractor and gang mower are fixed and working again. Instead of using this little grass cutter to cut the grass

We can use this

Instead of taking 4 days to do it, the main part can be cut in a few hours and then I only have the edges to do.

Thursday, 30 May 2013

If you are in or near Durham, please make time to visit this exhibition at the cathedral. The embroidery is fantastic. Sorry about the poor quality of the brochure, but you can read the details about it. Well worth a visit.

This is my first attempt of unsupervised freeform weaving. My inspiration has come from the miners tokens and if I think the hanging is good enough, it will go into an exhibition that Stitch-in-9 are having at Woodhorn.
