ronaldmcdonald

Where to get the voucher?

Glad you asked. You can find the vouchers for McDonald’s 2 FREE Big Breakfast in dailies such as The Star (cut it out and use it) or you can easily print one from your computer!

Download the online vouchers here and print them out. Remember, you can only use one voucher in a receipt. Don’t try to use, say, two vouchers for over RM 10 of spending in a receipt. And voucher can only be used during breakfast hour (4am - 11am).

What to spend on to meet the RM 5 requirement?

Alahh easy peasy. Since the 2 FREE Big Breakfast sets don’t come with drinks, simply purchase two coffee/tea for you and your partner. It shall cost a total of RM 6 after tax. Yes, one more Ringgit but then, you spend RM 3 and get the whole set of breakfast, which you usually need to spend around RM 10 for.

Now, is that not worth it? Print out the vouchers and head on to McDonald’s for your FREEEEEE Big Breakfast! :D

We Love Light Photography Contest

The photography society in MMU Malacca is running a photography contest for university as well as high school students. I held back for some time, trying to think what kind of images should I submit for both its Love and Light categories.

That didn’t go very well, but I managed to submit an image of sunset which I’ve taken back in my hometown for the Light category.

stsh_MMU_Light

This is the image I’ve submitted. Previously on this blog I’ve published the sunset shot I took at Pantai Cenang. This one here was taken after I was back from Langkawi Island.

Now here’s the deal: they’re having a ‘like’ thingy up on their Facebook page and the number of ‘likes’ actually contributes to 30% of the results! Meaning, apart from the 70% judging by the appointed judges, the 30% comes from Facebook page ‘likes’.

I submitted my entry on the last day itself so I’ve managed to accumulate a few clicks of ‘like’ as of now. So, I’d like to plead for your favour - yes, I bet you’ve guessed it right since the past few paragraphys - that is to ‘like’ my picture.

It’s very easy. First, head over to the We Love Light Photography Contest Facebook page and LIKE it; then, click like on my submission. (My sunset image is in the Light theme album.)

However, if you hate me or think the image is not appealing enough, it’s okay to ignore me :( Do check out other awesome entries at the page too! :D

Why The Slowness of Loading Facebook in Malaysia and How-to Speed It Up

The connection to Facebook.com has been getting slower and slower since the terrible disaster that battered Japan last week. According to TM the underwater cables have been affected by the earthquake, causing slow internet connection especially when connecting to sites hosted in the USA.

 wtfffffff

I was trying to fix the Sponsors page for Memoirs 2 FB Fan Page and the slow connection really got on my nerves. Thus, I googled a bit and found out there’s actually cure to the slow connection speed to Facebook.

All the miseries can be solved in five simple steps:

1. Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
2. Open hosts file using Notepad
3. Add the following line: 203.106.85.66 www.facebook.com
4. Save it.
5. Enjoy Facebooking smoothly!

Note: If you doubt that the IP address above is safe, instead of [203.106.85.66], add the line 'static.ak.fbcdn.net www.facebook.com' into the hosts file and save it. [static.ak.fbcdn.net] is a Facebook CDN server, which simply means Facebook owns the server.

Disclaimer: I did not geniusly come out with the solutions above. It was discovered by HeHeHunter and I initially saw this from LiewCF’s tech blog. Lunix and Mac users can check out either of the blogs I’ve mentioned for details. According to HeHeHunter, the IP address [203.106.85.66] is actually Facebook Mobile’s local server. Therefore, it is safe.

Taylor’s ADP vs Mass Comm

I was invited by Jim to take some pictures at the Shah Alam Panasonic Sports Complex for his college football final match. He played for the ADP team (in yellow) as a goalkeeper.

It was also the first time I shoot pictures using the almighty Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8. That bazooka lens is full of awesomeness despite it weight, which I wasn’t very used to with.

I’ll just be a little creative with the captions since I don’t know any of the players except for my goalie friend. =)

#2 VDS (yes, that’s Jim) made a save to keep the score level.

#5 The Malaysian players stood side by side during the penalty shootout (it was a draw after final whistle and no extra time was played).

[VIDEO] Man Utd 2-1 Man City - Rooney’s Match-Winner

The latest episode of Manchester derby ended 2-1, with the Red Devils managed to shut the noisy neighbours up again. And here we have a short clip of Rooney’s awesome pawesome (possibly the goal of the season) overhead kick goal.

‎"I think it's the best goal I've ever scored, I saw it coming over and I thought, why not? I was just delighted to see it go in the net and get the three points. Nine times out of 10 they go into the stand… it's the first overhead kick I've scored since turning professional."

Canon 600D Preview by Jared Polin

Let’s watch what Jared Polin from FroKnowsPhoto.com has to say about the upcoming Canon T3i / 600D.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pODO67UtBLM

“Nikon - when they put out a new camera, they put out a new camera; they don’t put the old sensor into the same body.” - Jared Polin.

Tell you what, if camera brands are difference races, then I’m a bloody racist :P No such thing as 1Camera eh. lol.

Canon Announces 600D and 1100D Entry Level DSLRs plus new Speedlites

Latest line-ups in the Canon EX Speedlite family are the new 320EX and 270EX II that is to replace the current Speedlite 270EX.

Besides, following Canon’s trend to roll out a newer version of entry level Digital SLR almost in an annual basis, they have announced the all new Canon 600D, making 500D feeling as old as Nikon’s D40.

9544034[1]

The latest upper entry-level DSLR has 18MP CMOS sensor (similar to that of 550D’s) and a tilt-and-swivel LCD monitor just like 60D’s. Another plus of this round’s upgrade is its ability to control flashguns remotely using its own built-in flash. Others: 3.7fps, ISO 100-6400 expandable to 12800, full HD 1080p, 9-point AF.

On the other hand, Canon is releasing an upgrade to its almost 2-year-old 1000D.

6211075[1]

The brand new Canon 1100D boasts 12MP CMOS sensor with 720p HD movie recording. Apart from that, I don’t see anything new. ISO 100-6400, 9-point AF system, 2.7” LCD screen. It is reported to be released in coming April.

I am not at all excited with the announcements because they’re all targeted at entry-level users - users who have yet to own a DSLR, and because particularly I’m not a fan. Can’t wait for head on reviews between the spanking new 1100D, 600D and Nikon’s recently-selling-like-hot-cakes entry-level model D3100.

It was released on January 13th in Malaysia, go catch it if you haven’t.

Here’s a music video of one of the soundtracks of the movie.

Fire at Cyberia Smarthomes

CYBERJAYA, JAN 20 - A fire burnt down an apartment…..unit of Cyberia Smarthomes at around 2am this morning. The fire caused hoo-hah among young residents who are mainly students of Multimedia University and Limkokwing University.

At the time of burning, time of arrival of fire engine, and time of people screaming and shouting and cheering, I was not available therefore I was not able to describe what exactly happened at the fire scene.

However, due to quick response and awesome video making passion of a friend of mine, Ken Loo, who is the founder and CEO of Ken Media Studio, you sleep-pigs who were snoring out loud when the fire happened are blessed for an opportunity to see what actually happened last night.

Also, notice how steady the firemen were in the video. They must have known that it would never bring down the whole apartment.

Click here to view it on Youtube.

TL;DR version: A fire destroyed an apartment unit at the Cyberia Smarthomes (block B1).

We now know that the fire brigade near the exit of Cyberjaya isn’t there for nothing.

Paypal to Open Support Centre in Malaysia

If you’re an active netizen you should know what Paypal is even if you don’t use their service. Well, you might not be excited but the wait is finally over for Paypal customers in Malaysia as Paypal is going to open a regional customer support centre in Malaysia!

In other words, they’re gonna have their very first office in Malaysia. We could even have Bahasa Malaysia and Mandarin for Paypal’s customer support!

Their new office will be based in Kuala Lumpur and they’re currently hiring for plenty of positions (300 positions in the next 3 years). So, if you’re interested or if you’re unemployed, do give it a try (and let us know how is it like to work for one of the largest online payments and money transfer service provider).

And to Paypal Inc., selamat datang =)

FB.com Purchased for $8.5 million

The American Farm Bureau Federation earned $8.5 million from sales of ‘a couple of domain names’ and it is believed that the buyer of one of dozens of their domain names, FB.com, was Facebook.

In November last year, Mark Zuckerberg announced the revamped Facebook Message that allows users to use the domain name @facebook.com. With the release of @facebook.com domain to the public use, the company’s staffs will need another domain names for themselves - hence the purchase of FB.com.

In a report by Reuters blog, the Farm Bureau officials said in an annual meeting that they have earned $8.5 million ‘by selling a couple of domain names,’ and at the same time we look back at a report by Mashable, the American Farm Bureau Federation sold Fb.com to an undisclosed buyer, but it was then revealed that Facebook is the administrator of the domain name.

And FYI, Fb.com is more than 40 times more expensive than Facebook.com, which they have paid for $200,000 in August 2005.

No wonder Facebook Paid is trending on Twitter eh? Because Facebook Paid $8.5 million for FB.com! Big business is big.
