Easton is...ONE!

This year has been the longest and fastest year! We've learned so much from our sweet little Easton boy. He's a crazy little munchkin but that's what makes me love him so much--from day one, his personality has shown through and I LOVE that about him! He's feisty and opinionated but is so sweet and cuddly and  does so many cute things that make up for him HATING his car seat, screaming during bath time, etc. He's a really good sleeper and eater! He shoves his food in his mouth as fast as he can, afraid it might fly away :) He has 4 teeth that are HUGE but make him look so cute. They just crack me up. We call them his chompers. He says "dada" and "dog" but babbles a TON outside of that. He loves snuggling with his dad. As soon as Steven picks him up he lays his head on his chest and snuggles right in with him. Every time.  He's a tiny guy. Only 19.5 pounds and it's all in his squishy thighs! He LOVES his brother. Seriously, Jack can sit and hit him in the head and he thinks its hilarious yet we tap his shoulder and he freaks out and cries...oh Easton. Easton? Who's that? Around here he's known as OME (pronounced oh-mee) which stands for Old Man Easton. He got his nickname from his dad because when he was just a baby he looked just like a little old man. It's stuck around and so now he's omee, o-stein, o-steinmart, E-dude, O-zee, etc. Poor kid doesn't know his real name.
Anyway, here are a few pictures from his birthday. We didn't do anything crazy. Dollar store/walmart decorations and just a few family members. It was perfect for him.

He was a super conservative cake eater :)

We think he was mad because all he got for his birthday was books...

We love you sweet Easton! You bring us so many smiles and keep us laughing and guessing what you'll do next :)

Jack's 2nd Birthday!

What a FUN day we had for Jack (and most of it unplanned :). This year was so much more fun than last year for several reasons 1.) I didn't have a party planned so I wasn't stressed about anything and 2.) He was older and could get more excited about stuff. Of course he had no clue it was his birthday or what a birthday was but it was still fun. We headed down to Benson on Friday the 26th because Steven had planned to go help with branding some cows on Saturday so we just decided to celebrate the birthday down there. When Jack woke up we went into his room with a HUGE bunch of balloons while singing him "Happy Birthday". There are some moments as a parent that are just priceless and seeing his adorable little face when we walked in was one of those times!

We got Jack a tricycle for his b-day and of course, he hasn't really played with it yet...I swear, I'm sticking with my guns of not buying new toys! Used from here on out!
Growing up as kids we had the tradition of picking out our favorite cereal for breakfast on our birthday. Jack doesn't have one yet so we picked fruit loops for him and needless to say, he loved them!

After breakfast we headed out to one of the most beautiful places I've seen (lately): Dragoon Mountain Ranch. It was quite the drive to get out to where the cattle branding was taking place but it was SUCH a gorgeous drive. The thunderheads were rolling in, everything was green and it was quiet and just peaceful. Here's Jack watching dad do some work (and Aunt Kayleen!!)

It was HOT and humid!!
Grammers and E-dude

After the branding was finished we all headed back to Zack and Yvonne's (Kayleen's parents) for lunch. Yvonne was so sweet and put candles on the sheet cake for Jack to blow out!

After lunch we headed over to the park for the 24th of July Pioneer Day celebration with Pomerene ward. They had a huge makeshift slip-'n-slide. We didn't know about it and weren't prepared with swim clothes but Jack just jumped right in anyway and loved it of course!

Dad letting Jack drive around (on private property...relax people)
This had to be the highlight of the day. My dad's cousin Devin owns an excavation business and so last week I had emailed Devin asking him if we could come look at his tractors and other equipment because Jack is, well, a boy, and LOVES anything that "goes" (planes, trains, tractors, trucks, etc.) Devin said yes so we headed to his place after the park. Devin had his son Denton drive Jack around on the skid-steer, backhoe and then Devin took him around in the water truck and let him "honk" the air horn. He even got to raise and lower the bucket on the skid-steer. Jack loved EVERY minute of it. The train tracks also run right behind the place and Jack got to see 2 trains up close. He may not remember this birthday but we sure will!

After that we headed home for one more birthday cake celebration with grammers, grandpa, Great-Grandma and Grandpa and his great uncle John and Aunt Jean. Needless to say this kid was EXHAUSTED by the end of the day as were his mom and dad :) It was fun and now I can't wait until next year!!
Happy Birthday my little man. I love you so much and love seeing you grow.

Life Lately

I don't have any major event to blog about but now that I downloaded the blog app so I figured I would update some of my pictures from my phone of life around the Carbonneau household.

Jack recently has become interested in play dough
Lady liberty!
Hanging out on mom's bed after nap time!
On Friday we celebrated Steven's birthday. We went out to bass pro shop to get him ice cream maker. Jack loved walking around the store! It's a fun place! We've been there with him before but this was the first time that he really showed an interest in all of the things around the store.
Birthday boy blowing out his candles! We sure love Steven around here and hope he had a great day. We had some friends and family over for cake and ice cream. After Steven blew out his candles he relit the candles and let each kid come up and blow one out. I love how selfless he is. He is such a great example to me.

Easton's Baby Blessing

This past Sunday, July 7th, 2013 we blessed Easton. We were able to have the majority of our family members there as well as some friends. We feel so blessed that so many would take time to come support our family, especially baby Easton! Steven gave such a beautiful blessing for our little E-dude. I love that with both he and Jack the blessings have been so individualized and not like the normal blessings. I remember hearing a John Bytheway talk where he mentioned baby blessings and how they are just for that particular child and need to be special.
Something else we do different is not doing the traditional white outfit for the blessing. If I had a girl I would definitely be doing all white but with the boys, I just like the white shirt/ties/slack look. It's what the men in our church wear when blessing the sacrament, in leadership callings, on missions, etc. and I like to get them off on the right foot! That's just me personally :) Anyway, here are a few pictures!
