Happy Birthday Kate

Kate turned 7!  Woot woot!  So we of course partied. We started off the day with some breakfast cake and karaoke. Then I took Kate and some of her besties to Hurricane Harbor. We played and swam all day. It was fun. Really really fun! Then we finished off the day with cupcakes for dinner. It was birthday perfection.

Kate is becoming such a lovely little lady. She is smart and kind. She is silly and creative. She is assertive and bold. She is helpful and obedient.  She is full of love and excitement.  She is fun. She is a dream come true! We love Kate.

Cowgirl Kate

Today they had a cowboy show at the library. Kate dressed for the occasion.
She got picked out of the audience to perform the double ring rope trick. One of the most dangerous western tricks.

She survived. She had a brilliant performance. She's now saving up money to buy her own rope.

Snakes at the Library

I took the kids to the live animal show at the library. It was really exciting. The lady in charge just kept pulling out animals and handing them to kids in the audience. She would then tell them to walk around and show other kids their animal. There were snakes and lizards everywhere. It was total chaos. We loved it!!!

Broken Bones

The other day all the kids got really hurt. They were each in terrible accidents and broke lots of bones. The poor little things were moaning and covered in casts. Luckily they miraculously healed very quickly.

And I am now completely out of scotch tape and paper towels.

A Squirrel Trap

We told the kids if they could catch a squirrel we would pay them $5. Kate was extremely committed to the challenge. She envisioned the trap and Jason was her wingman. Happily cutting up boxes. Kate was confident about their trap. She was convinced there would be squirrel waiting inside in the morning. She put nuts and m&m's in the box. Things squirrels can't resist. Sadly no squirrels were caught.

Best Cousins

While we were in Vegas Kate and  Jalie needed some cousin time so I took them to the mall. They were in girl heaven. They got their hair curled. Picked out some fancy make up from Claire's, and they got a "best cousin" necklace.

Our 4th

We spent the 4th in Vegas. It was fun to see family. The kids were in cousin heaven.
Nachos & soda. A traditional 4th of July lunch.
We swam ALL day!!
He was a fierce competitor in the watermelon eating contest.
Grandpa did not disappoint and bought all sorts of fun glow in the dark toys for our Olympia after party.

Sparkler parade!
