LCOM Crop - One Hour Challenge: Scrapbook Layouts

I was in Moncton recently to attend the LCOM Fall crop with the lovely Kristine!  We had so much fun catching up and playing with paper.  We haven't spent any time together since the Spring, so it was a much needed reconnect!

The crop had two "One Hour Layout" challenges, and I had great fun with the sketches provided!  Having limited time, and limited supplies (since I'm not in my scraproom), really takes the pressure off.  It's a bit surprising, because you would think otherwise.  However, it really forces me to stop over thinking every darn enamel dot placement and to "Get 'er Done!"

The first layout above was a cool chevron sketch, and I used Crate Paper's Wonder collection.  I believe it's meant to be a baby collection, but with all those cute little kitty faces on the paper and embellishments I couldn't resist!

The second layout was a layered layout using Studio Calico's Baxter collection, and I'm still not sure about that pop of yellow... but I'm leaving it in there anyway.  That's what this is all about, to stretch your creativity and get you out of your comfort zone.  I probably would never use this color combo again, but that's ok!

Thanks for stopping by!

Creative Scrappers Sketch 267

Here is my take on yet another fabulous Creative Scrappers Sketch!  I really enjoyed working with this two photo layout.  I struggled a bit with the color combo since the photos have such a bold background, but all in all I think it worked out well :-)

These Photobooth photos are one of my absolute favorite things about a S&CT Crop and Create!  The floral backgrounds are always the same, so the only way to really tell which photo was taken at which crop is by our clothes!  (Ahem... I've been known to wear shirts to the crop that match the photobooth LOL)

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and be sure to visit the Creative Scrappers Blog to link up your take on this week's sketch for a chance to win a prize from this month's sponsor Scraptastic Kit Club!

Also, CS is having a DT Call so while you're linking up your layouts on the blog, why not apply to be a part of this wonderful team!

Cheers,
Steph

Scrapaganza 2014!

My lovely friend Mercy Tiara invited me to her house for her annual "Scrapaganza" all day scrapbooking event!  Basically, she has a few scrappy friends over for an all day session (9am-until we drop) and I was thrilled to accept!

It was lovely meeting new scrappy friends, and spending time with others who enjoy this hobby as much as I do.  I haven't been to a crop in some time, so I was really looking forward to it.

The company was lovely, the food was delicious, and I think we all had a great time :)

Here is a photo that MT's hubby took of us in her amazing scrappy space.... can you imagine, she has room for 5 people to scrap comfortably!  I'm just a little envious LOL

Here are some of the layouts I completed during the day, I almost killed an entire SC Kit + Add on!

Thanks for stopping by!
Hope you are having a great week :)

Crop and Create: Ottawa!

Last weekend I was fortunate to be able to hop on a plane with my bestie Kristine and attend Crop and Create in Ottawa!  What a wonderful experience!

(Warning!  Photo heavy post!!)
Here we are on the plane, getting ready to take off!

As soon as we landed, it was reveal time at Studio Calico, so we grabbed our luggage and got on our phones to do our Add on and shop items ordering.... Here I am in the airport using my super iPhone ordering ninja skills LOL

Once we finished with our order, it was time to decide what to do first....and so it began with an Ikea trip after we checked into our hotel...honestly, we were so excited about this I'm surprised we didn't go right from the airport!  I snagged some photo frames, shower curtain, fabric, notepads and these cool table spinners for my scraproom.  It was so difficult not to buy everything we wanted.... I think I'd be broke if we had an Ikea close by!

The next day we met up with our online friend Rosa and she was kind enough to bring us to MultiCrafts!  (Scrapbook supply wholesaler)  Oh my goodness, this was a dream come true for me!!!

Once we were finished with our shopping, we jumped into Rosa's car and picked up another online friend at the airport!  Nicole Nowosad was going to stay with us the entire weekend and Kristine and I had no idea what to expect!   It turns out the Nicole, Kristine and I are more alike than we could have ever imagined... we laughed and had a blast the ENTIRE weekend!

Here we are getting ready to go to the crop area in the hotel....  I just adore these two women!

If you ever have the chance to attend a Crop and Create in your area, you must!!!!  (or even if it isn't in your area, well worth travelling and making a weekend of it!)

These crops are the best I've ever experienced, Catherine and Jen put on an amazing weekend and the classrooms are always packed and taught by the best in the Scrapbooking business!

Two of the classes I took was with the lovely Kelly Purkey!  I was so excited to meet her, and she was absolutely adorable!  The other class I took was with the talented and hilarious Vicki Boutin!  This class was so jam packed with techniques I didn't even have a moment to *think* about taking any photos!  Wowsers!   (I will be posting my cards and albums that I made during these classes at a later date!)

One of my most favorite thing about the Crop and Create weekends is the Photobooth photos....always a blast to goof around with the girls!

As I'm typing up this post and looking at all the photos, I have a smile on my face.... This weekend was exactly what I needed.  Thank you lovely ladies for another amazing Crop and Create!  I can't wait for Saskatoon in November!

A few Layouts from the crop!

Hi folks,
just catching up on a few layouts I made at the Creative Scrappers crop a couple of weekends ago!

As always, such a lovely weekend with my Moncton girls :)  I beat my record and completed 12 layouts...here are a few that are ready to be photographed.  The others either are for a DT assignment or just need a bit of journaling added!

One of my fav lines from Sassafras!

The Joy of Friendships...

A couple of weekends ago I travelled to Moncton, NB to attend a crop hosted by my bestie Kristine.  I missed the last crop as it was during our Honeymoon vacation in Jamaica,  so I was excited to scrap with the girls again!  I'd been marking the days off on my calendar for a couple of months....and then when my Seymour (aka Boogie) was sick and then passed away, I wasn't sure if I should go.  I've been so sad, I didn't want to bring anyone else down into my funk.
After some thought, I decided that the best thing I needed was to be around my girlfriends.  Dave drove up with me, as I still find that long periods by myself  ends up with me in tears more often than not... I keep reading its the grieving process, all the different stages etc.  I just know that I miss my Boogie Boy, and that's its ok to cry.

The crop was exactly what I needed.  We laughed so hard we all almost peed our pants, then I cried when one of the girls sang for us...one of my favorite songs about saying goodbye.  Lots of fun, lots of hugs and best of all, lots of love.

Thank you to Kristine, Chantal, Marielle and Zoe for making me laugh so hard it hurt my belly... and the Moncton girls, Isabelle, Gisele, Aurelie, Jocelyn... you are so much fun....I look forward to seeing you at the Crop and Create!

Here are a few of the layouts I created while at the crop
Cheers,
Steph

A differnt Style?

Just a few layouts I was able to complete during the last LCOM crop in Moncton...another fabulous weekend with Kristine and the girls :)  So much fun....and check it out, 8 layouts completed!!!

Kristine says my style is changing: I'm not as messy/grungy....I didn't really notice until she mentioned it!  I think it may be that I'm getting my messy fix with the mixed media art I've been dabbling in and also, I tend not to spring my sprays and paint when I go to crops!  tee hee funny how little things like that can change things up!

hugs
