Tim wants a sports theme fr 2.0 and these are the two we found that we like. Try to ignore all of the obnoxious accessories in the photos and focus only on the bedding. Place your vote using the poll on the right hand side of the page. Thanks!

Vacation and the Stomach Flu

On June 12th we embarked on what we hoped would be a nice, relaxing 9 day vacation. We planned it around my step-brother Jamie's wedding which was on June 15th. While we did have a good time, it wasn't exactly what we had envisioned. We arrived to Denver Thursday night, visited with Tim's family - where little Jake got to meet his Auntie Tara for the very first time! - and got some rest before heading to Farmington the next day.

On Friday we rented a car and made the 6 hour drive to NM. Jake was a fabulous little traveler! On Saturday Tim, Alan, my dad and step-mom, Jake and I drove up to Durango so the guys could go rafting. This was Tim's first time on a cataraft and only his second time rafting ever (his first was on our honeymoon in Costa Rica). We had a great day outdoors and that evening we met up with my mom & Bob at Steamworks for Jamie & Laurel's rehearsal dinner. We ate some yummy yummy Cajun Boil and mingled with family and new friends.

Sunday we had a lovely Father's day lunch at my dad's, and then we said goodbye to our little baby Jake for my first overnight trip away from him ever. Tim and I checked into a cabin in Durango and then went to Jamie & Laurel's beautiful wedding at Blue Lake Ranch. We had a fantastic time at the wedding and it was nice to have some adult time.

The next morning we awoke in our peaceful cabin and unfortunately received a call from my dad that Jake was sick. He had been vomiting and they could tell he wasn't feeling well. We decided to let them take him in to the doctor. The diagnosis was that Jake had a bit of a stomach virus and to give it time to run its course. We decided Jake was in good hands so we stayed in Durango for the next night and checked in with them often.

Tuesday we headed back to Farmington to get our sick baby boy. When we got there he seemed to be doing much better although he still had a pretty bad case of the runs. We rested the rest of Tuesday in preparation for our drive back to Denver the next day.

Wednesday morning we packed up the car and hit the road. About 45 minutes in to our trip Jake threw up. We cleaned him up, changed his diaper (which he was filling VERY frequently) and got back on the road. We continued having to make frequent stops to change Jake, but we were thankful he didn't throw up anymore. About 3/4 through our trip, however Tim had to make an immediate stop because I got the bug. I threw up again about 10 minutes before we arrived at my sister-in-laws house (thankfully we had a bag) and Jake and I immediately went to bed. I got sick two more times that evening and was feeling really really miserable. Tim came home from a late night fishing trip around 10:30pm and proceeded to get sick as well. So, for the next few days we were all just a sick, tired mess.

Because of this, I didn't take one single picture while we were in Denver for that last half of our trip. I also didn't get to meet my friend Ivory's sweet baby girl Emma :( And this virus hit almost everyone it came in contact with. In addition to Tim and me, my stepmom, grandma, mom, stepdad, and neices all got it even though we were diligent about hand washing and spraying down toys. It was wicked!

Below are the pictures that I did manage to take. Thanks for making it through my novel of a story!

9 Month Appointment

Jake had his 9 month well visit at the pediatrician's office today. He weighed in at 19lbs 13oz (35th percentile) and was 29 inches long (75th percentile). The doctor says he is doing great! He is hitting all of his milestones and his next appointment won't be until he's 1 year!!! WOW! We got the ok to start letting him try meats, which should be interesting, and once we get close to the 12 month mark, when we run out of formula, we can switch him on over to whole milk! Exciting stuff, huh? Jake didn't have to have any shots today, which was nice, but he did have to have his finger pricked to check him for anemia. He didn't cry at all! He just sat there like the perfect little angel he is and let the nurse squeeze and squeeze at his tiny finger. What a trooper!

Thanks for all of your guesses on the ExpectNet game! I can't wait to reveal the secret to all of you! Hold tight for now :)

Memorial Day Weekend!

A few weeks behind, but here are pictures from Memorial day weekend and a few random pics from after that. Before we get to the pictures, here are some updates:

  • Jake has officially been weaned from breastfeeding for 2 weeks! We had been slowly cutting back his feedings and once we were down to one we just cut it out completely. I originally had wanted to breastfeed him for a full year, but it was just getting too tiresome doing that and being pregnant. My body was exhausted! Jake is doing awesome on the bottle and is even taking a sippy cup for one of his feedings.
  • Jake has found his nose. He loves to stick his pointer finger up his nostril! I'll try to catch a picture soon.
  • This kid LOVES to dance. He dances all day long and dances to any little bit of music he hears.
  • He's starting to stand a bit. He usually can only balance for a second or two, but he's getting a lot braver about letting go of things to stand.
  • He got the waving thing down and now waves back when someone waves to him (as long as he's not too tired or cranky).

On to the pictures!

First time at the pool. It was a little cold, so Jake didn't love it.

The last of the Farmington Pics

I am finally getting around to posting the last of our pictures from our Farmington trip. I've had a killer cold this whole week and am just ready for it to GO AWAY!!! Jake is turning into such a little boy. He has his moments when he doesn't seem like much of a baby at all. He finally started crawling on all fours all the time, he has learned how to open cabinets, and all he wants to do it stand, stand, stand. He is just a ball of energy, but he naps really well and sleeps through the night like a champ, so we can't ask for much more. Enjoy the pics!
