I Swear It's There!

This is what happens when you take a happy, playful child and try to get photographic proof of their first tooth:

Looks like I'll have to keep trying!

A Baby at a Baby Shower!

As I mentioned in my last post, last weekend Jake and I went to Denver to attend my friend Ivory's baby shower. Because of some complications during her pregnancy, she is currently in the hospital on strict bedrest, so we decided to bring the shower to her! It was so wonderful to see her and to give her a good reason to escape from her room for a few hours. Here are some pictures from that day:

It was so good to see you, Ivory! Keep on cooking that little baby! You are doing a great job!

Breaking News!!!

This just in - actually "just in" is not entirely accurate, but I was sans computer for the last 4 days - our little six-month-old had his first tooth break through his gums! Yay! It's his bottom left tooth and its just barely showing, but its really cute :) I noticed it last Thursday while we were on our way to Denver.

We also decided to begin breaking our cosleeping habit with our little munchkin. I don't even really know how we started it in the first place, but its been going on for too long now, and we ALL need some better sleep. Plus, if Jake keeps nursing 2-3 times a night he is going to be too big for me to carry around! So last night we put him to sleep in his crib at about 9pm. He cried for close to half an hour but then was out for the night. It is now 9:21am and he is STILL sleeping (and yes, he's still breathing)! I didn't expect that first night to be so easy, but I'm not holding my breath that the next few nights will be the same. I am thinking he was maybe just a bit jet lagged from our 2 hour flight home from Denver.

So, I forgot to mention this a week ago, but we had to break into our emergency savings to pay for our deductible on BOTH cars because Mother Nature decided to throw down quarter size hail on McKinney. Fun stuff, let me tell ya. The cars look like hell, they are pitted everywhere, windshields included. So now we will be getting one car fixed at a time, they each will take 2 weeks, which means I am without a car AGAIN for a month. Boo!

Sorry I don't have any new pictures to post right now, but I took a little break this weekend to go to Denver for my dear friend Ivory's baby shower and I didn't have much time to take pictures! We had a blast, and although I didn't take too many photos, I think Ivory will let me steal a few to post. So stay tuned!

It's somebody's HALF BIRTHDAY!!!

Jacob turned 6 months old today! WOW! He is such a big boy and we are really REALLY loving this stage he's in right now. He is all smiles and giggles and is just a very happy baby. He's eating well (even taking a bottle sometimes!), sleeping a bit better, and he is just so dang cute when he's playing. We love his babble and his coos. He is our perfect little love muffin. And speaking of muffins, here is Jake showing you what a stud muffin he is ;)

P.S. This is my 100th post! Holy Moly!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh the holiday made to sell cards, chocolates, flowers, and lingerie... We did exchange cards, but other than that we won't be doing much this Valentine's day, just hanging out at home loving on our little one and making some crab legs! Yum! Unlike previous years, I actually have TWO Valentine's this year - my adorable husband, of course, and my newest little Valentine, Jacob. Here are some pictures I forced him to take to celebrate this holiday of love :) Enjoy!

"Mom, I'm not sure I am comfortable with these nude shots..."
" Seriously, mom, I just don't know..."
" Oh ok, I guess its not so bad...I am pretty cute naked!"
"Yay! This is so fun!"
" Mmmm, Valentine's are yummy!"
"Hey ladies!"
" This smile melts their hearts every time"
"Look! I have no teeth!"
"I love this onesie my girlfriend Ella James sent me"
"I wish I could give her a big kiss!"

PUCKER UP!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Somebody has been bad....

Yes, I know, I am sorry. I have been a very, very bad blogger lately. But between a baby with a cold, dentist appointments, doctor visits, work, and trying to be a domesticated little diva I just am having a hard time keeping up! Ok, ok, enough feeling sorry for myself ;) Starting today, February 5th, I promise to be better and to put aside a few minutes to update you on our lives! Here's a recap of January. Seriously, can someone PLEASE tell me where January went??? I didn't even get a chance to make any New Year's resolutions.....

....except one. Our only real, true new year's resolution for 2008 was this: Get Fit. I know, I know, it sounds cliche, but that's until you find out what I really mean by that. Some of you may remember back in April we sold my baby Bugablu version 2.0. So for NINE FULL MONTHS we only had one vehicle. Now, that wasn't a big deal at all when my husband was in another state and never needed to borrow the car, but then he came back. And we had a baby. And he started a job. And I had NO CAR! This was unacceptable, of course. A mommy needs to be able to escape from mommy prison (aka home) every once and a while, so over Christmas vacation we resolved to buy a new car as soon as we returned. After going back and forth trying to decide what would be the perfect, er, "fit", we ended up with this:

"What is that?", you ask. Well, my friends, THIS is the 2008 Honda Fit! It's Tim's brand-spankin'-new-non-gas-guzzling-get-around-town machine. And he loves it. And so do I :) It's kind of like a 4 door version of my little Bugablu, so I have fully embraced it. And it is a standard, which reminds me of poor lightning struck Bugablu version 1.0, so I love it that much more. Tim drives all over the Dallas- Fort Worth area for work, so this car is just perfect for him. He's been driving it for a month now and so far no complaints! Yay for us getting our only new year's resolution crossed off the list!

So, what else have we been up to? Well, Jake has had a cold for a couple weeks now. We took him into the pediatrician and they told us there is pretty much nothing we can do but ride it out. So that's what we've been doing. We use the aspirator (aka Booger Getter) a LOT and Jake has learned to twist and turn very well to block us from sticking that thing up his nose. Our child now weighs 18 lbs. Actually, probably more now since it has been a week or two since he was weighed. He is getting better and better at eating his veggies. He's now had butternut squash, carrots, acorn squash, and avocados. So far he seems to like avocados the best. He definitely has the love of Mexican food in him :)

In adult news, Tim has joined a softball team and they had their first game this past weekend. He had a blast and their team won! Go Novocain! Jake and I had a great time cheering them on since the weather was PERFECT - I'm talking 80 degrees people! We are looking forward to spending more time outside with all of Tim's games before it gets too hot here in North Texas.

Not much is new with me. I decided that I am not as bad of a cook as I originally thought. I've been planning out our meals weekly and have been executing them quite well! Only one has turned out just absolutely horrendous (but I'm not taking the blame because I followed the recipe EXACTLY!) and the rest have been pretty tasty! I also discovered the Razor scooter which I now love and want. Really bad. I borrowed it from our little neighbor girl and had so much fun cruising up and down the street while Tim played basketball with the neighbor boys. I'm hoping Tim will read this and get a good hint for Valentine's day :) (I like the pink one, honey!)

Oh, and yesterday was our TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY!!!! Thank you to all of you who thought of us and sent us emails and cards. We have had an incredible two years and just feel so blessed to be living our life together. I really am so thankful to have such an amazing, funny, hard-working, perseverant husband. It's such a great thing to spend every day with your best friend!

Ok, so without further ado, here are the photos you have all been waiting for. The beautiful, charming, and oh so chubby and scrumptious Jakey!
