ouch...

Wah I'm so busy today... Busy rubbing the $40 worth of bruises... Wahaha... Let me count... 1,2,3,4,5........11! Oh my god! 11 bruises on my legs and 4 bruises on my elbow! Hmm... Let's do some mathematics... 11+4=15, $40/15=$2.67

Each bruise costs $2.67! Wahaha... Showed Caleb my legs and he got a shock. He asked me if someone had tortured me... Haha... Gotta wear long pants or jeans these few days until my legs recover... It's an ugly scene... Qian Long even joked that I should wear long socks which will extend to my knee... Eeee... Thanks for the suggestion but save it for yourself. Muahahaha...

Went out with Ken today after JS tutorial. We went to watch Eye 10. One word for the show... SUCK! Hey guys, don't say I never warn all of you... Please don't waste your money on the show... Spend your money wisely... After that we went to Beach Road hawker center because Ken wana buy his army stuffs... Ate Shih Lin chicken chop there too. Wah very big piece indeed... Hee...

Btw Ken, thanks for the beanie pillow that you bought for me in New York. I like it very much! *hugz*

Windsurfing

This entry consists of 2 parts...

Firstly, I would like to show all of you a picture of my legs...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Yeah this is how my legs look like with all the bruises... And my arms and legs are aching... Went for a 2 days windsurfing course today at PA East Coast Sea Sports Club with Bobz and Joy... It was organized by NUS windsurfing club... I was quite excited initially when I reached the club... We spent an hour on the theory, an hour on the simulator and the last hour surfing by ourselves. Oh so you think it's easy right? At first I thought so too... After trying the simulator, I'm quite skeptical if I could do the real thing... But later when we surfed on our own, I concluded that windsurfing is not my cup of tea.

Urrkkk! It's so difficult! The current and the wind were so strong that I could not uphaul the sail! Everytime I managed to climb onto the sail board, I'll sure fall off after 5 seconds... Now I understand the meaning of 'What goes up must come down!' Wahahah... Actually I think I paid 40 bucks for this course just to swim in the sea... Diao... Wahaha... The worse part was that it started pouring 15 mins after we started sailing. The rain was so heavy that I couldn't open my eyes... I had to cling onto my sail board until Pay Yap (our instructor) swam over and tried to coerce me to try surfing...

I managed to finish day 1 of the course in one piece! Sad to say, there's another 1 tomorrow! I'll try my best to surf at least 2m. Hee... I hope everything will go smoothly including the weather...

P.S.: I'll upload the photos for the windsurfing course another day... Please be patient.

Secondly, I realised that there's this "
I'm too sexy for my blog" Project, and they have their own "I'm too sexy for my blog" tongue shots. This started with Xia Xue, who posted a picture of herself on her blog. ( see below)

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

After that, a US blogger Tony Pierce decided to feature her photo on his blog. This resulted in an unexpected result.......

Above is a photo of Mr Miyagi...

Above is a photo of Mr Brown.

Obviously, both Mr Miyagi and Mr Brown saw Xia Xue's photo and decided to imitate what Xia Xue did and also started a "I'm too sexy for my blog" project... Haha... Go to the link above to know full details...

As for me, I decided to do the same in my blog... Haha... I've taken a few pics of my self, using the 'sexy' tongue pose... Sorry guys, I'm too bored lah... Please pardon me... (ok maybe not as nice as xia xue's.. Hah..)

Me looking ghastly....

In AS7, NUS centennial team

Wow, I'm so bored... Stoning in AS7 com cluster... *yawnz*

Anyway I've just read through the NUS Centennial Everest Expedition newsflash.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

The most exciting phase of their quest has begun. The Centennial Everest Expedition after a rousing sendoff departs on March 14 for the world's highest peak. The team, comprising NUS faculty, alumni and student, is expected to summit the middle of May and return in June to herald in the NUS Centennial Celebrations. ------NUS Centennial

Their quest really begun more than two years ago, when they started training for the climb. NUS President Professor Shih Choon Fong said at the sendoff: “The journey up Mt Everest is just a beginning. But the journey for every member of the expedition started much earlier. Each of them either consciously or sub-consciously arrived at a point in his life when he knew he wanted to move out of his comfort zone, go beyond the tried and tested route, push the boundaries and break personal barriers. And we would like to think that the NUS environment helped to nurture that spirit.” -------NUS Centennial

Invitations to join the team went out in late November 2002 tio alumni, staff and students. Due to the overwhelming response, applicants were shortlisted based on their previous experience in mountaineering and outdoors. Out of an initial applicant pool of over 100 people, thirty candidates were put through a stringent over-night physical and mental assessment in December, conducted by instructors with experienced in such exercises.

The consultant team then examined the results of the assessment and interviewed all the instructors for feedback on the candidates' performance. After lengthy one-in-one interviews with every candidates, an initial group of 13 were chosen.

A meticulous programme has been drawn up, comprising a strict regime or individual and team training, team-building exercises, mountaineering courses, and training climbs, designed to raise their climbing skills. In the process, candidates are assessed and those deemed not to have reached the desired standard, or failed to gel with the team, are asked to step down.

Ultimately, up to 6 climbers were selected for the team to climb Everest.

Below is the progress of the team since 14th March 2005.

Kathmandu, 14 March 2005:
We arrived at about 1pm local time and was immediately struck by the relatively quiet airport. The capital of this mountainous country at this time of the year is usually crowded with tourists -- mountaineers, trekkers, adventurers or just sightseers. Now, foreigners are few and far between.
At the hotel, our first visitor was the legendary Miss Elizabeth Holly, the journalist who for decades has been documenting every ascent of an 8,000m mountain in Nepal. Now in her 80s, she is fit and alert, with an encyclopaedic knowledge of mountaineering history in Nepal. She took down the details of every team member and interviewed NUS team leader Khong Lean and Singapore Mountaineers team leader Dr Robert Goh.

Kathmandu, 15 March 2005:
At 9am, Kirin from local agents Great Escapes arrived with a van and a minibus to take us to the office. We had left behind some gear after the Cho Oyu climb. We had also shipped over a ton of items from Singapore to cut down on baggage during our flight. We had to sort out the gear to be sent directly to Everest Base Camp and pack separately the things we would need during our Island Peak climb and the trek to base camp.
At Great Escapes, we unpacked and re-packed into boxes, drums and duffles. It is difficult to explain why so much is needed to climb a mountain but try as we might, we wouldn't have been able to reduce the amount. Every piece of equipment is needed, right down to the last muesli bar!

Kathmandu, 16 March 2005:

It is an easy-going day today for all before tomorrow's departure. Just some last minute shopping and packing. All is well and no one has caught a cough or cold, thank goodness! Most of us walk about the city with face masks to filter out the dust, a prime cause of the cough.
We leave for the airport tomorrow at 5.15am, which means getting up at 4am and having breakast at 4.30am. Everyone is raring to go!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Wow, I'm totally impressed by the guys! I've also watched a special tribute program last night about the whole preparation for the expedition. Despite the arduous physical training, some of them even sacrificed and stopped schooling for 2 semesters! They admitted that they were worried of the fluctuating and extreme weather over there and also the death zone but they are confident in completing the expedition! You go guys! We will cheer for all of you and anticipate your return! Three cheers for the NUS team and three cheers for NUS!! =P

Bio lect

Wow, I must agree that Science Faculty has indeed the greatest and finest lecturers as compared to the other faculties in NUS. Hmmm....... Or is it so?

Went for Biology lect today and realised that a new lecturer took over the previous one. Thank goodness the crazy yet interesting lecturer is gone... Hee... But after seeing the new lecturer, I realised that I still prefer the previous one because this new lecturer looked boring... He spent 10mins toying with the light switches and he ended up starting the lecture 10mins after 4pm... Haha, how good can he be I wondered...

But right after introducing himself, he started talking about how we will react when we fall sick and what our mothers will do blah blah... He said that our mothers will go to the Chinese medical hall to buy herbs for us to drink. Immediately after saying that, he took out some herbs from a plastic bag and threw them into a transparent basin, saying that those will be the herbs that our mothers will buy. Next, he said that they will normally cook it with chicken to act as solvent to extract the essence from the herbs(if I did not hear wrongly). Guess what? He took out a chicken drum stick and threw it into the basin with herbs and added water into it. Wah!! Disgusting! All the students present in the LT were astonished.

Ok nevermind that... Let's continue... As the prof continued his lecture on plants(the topic for today), he went under the table and took out samples of plants and leaves... Everytime he bent down, all the students in the LT waited with anticipation, guessing what he will pull out next. Haha... There came a point where he went outside the LT to pull in a huge leaf sample. I think it belonged to a palm tree or coconut tree... Wahaha... Everybody was laughing like crazy... Heh... He also asked funny questions like "Why does flower bearing plants bear flowers?" We were like DUH? Heh... He also spent 15mins on a stupid rose topic... Haha... Actually I think he did that so as to make the lecture more interesting... Thanks prof for all these entertainment... We appreciated that...

Pics taken when the lecturer was not noticing... This was the huge leaf that I was talking about...

Look at the amount of props he used... I wonder how he's going to dispose them...

Another funny incident happened during my journey to Science fac. Jonny and I were sitting in the front seats of the shuttle bus, happily talking away when all of a sudden the bus got crowded... I 've noticed this Indian guy who stood beside my seat the moment he boarded the bus... I smelt something funny... Something like BO... I ignored it as it was natural for a guy especially it was a hot day... Suddenly a poignant smell flowed into my nostrils! Wah someone please kill me!

The smell was so pungent that Jonny noticed it instantly! Both of us held our breaths and tried to hide the miserable expressions on our faces... I realised that the smell came from the same person... The Indian guy deside me... The smell became so pungent because he lifted his arms to hold the bars at the top, thus exposing his covered armpits. The fortunate thing was that we were one stop away from our destination... After we alighted the bus, Jonny told me that fortunately I did not turn my head to look at the guy because he saw something disgusting.... The guy's shirt near the armpit area was wet and it was stained... Yellow in colour... After hearing that, I was glad that I didn't turn around in the bus... Haha.... Jonny was also glad that he took the seat beside the window... *bleh*

Moral: Never sit near the aisle. Wahaha...

Ken has been gone for almost 6 days... Haiz... I miss you... Miss him so much until I started to call his name instead of my friend's. For example Bobby... I was talking to him and I suddenly called him Ken. Haha... Diao... Jonny was laughing away... *bleh* So pai seh lor... Ken, thanks for motivating me to study for my mid term test... I appreciated your SMSes... Hope you are enjoying yourself over there in Toronto.

Ok back to the current situations faced in campus... Recently alot of people are experiencing stress as it is the period for mid term tests and also project submission. I'm no exception... To all my friends out there, don't get too stressed out by projects, term papers etc... Please take care of your health too... This is Xin signing off...

proj meeting on sun

Today was a tiring day for me...

Went to my grandma's place for lunch and also celebrated her birthday... Hee... Rushed down to campus to meet my Japanese Studies project mates around 2pm. We settled at Perk Point in Central Library but we had to move our butts out of Central Library around 4.15pm because it was closing... So we had no choice but to discuss at the tables and benches along the AS6/1 walkway(near the UOB atm). It was a bad place for project discussion because there were lots of mosquitoes and flies... I was bitten by 4 of them... *scratch scratch* Our productivity deteriorated as the time passes... Some of us were falling asleep and some were feeling very hot and sweaty... We managed to finish our project outline by 6.30pm... Yeah!

Headed for Harbour Front to collect my Canon 7-in-one bag and a free 256MB SD memory card... After that went to China Square for dinner... Walked around the place after dinner and watched some street performance. On our way home, we stopped by an ice cream cafe behind National JC for dessert... It's called Estivo... Wow, I love their ice cream man! Hee... Flavours such as strawberry, kiwi, mango, coconut, wildberries, pineapple, peach orange etc were made from real fruits! Hee... *drooling* There's alot of varieties too! I think up to 16 different types of flavours, each with a unique name... Dun be jealous k? Hee... Below are some photos taken today... Enjoy!

Scanner and Canon Camera

Wah!! Wasted my whole day shopping with my parents... Sigh... Did not touch any textbooks today... Think I must put in more effort and mug extra hard next week for my Social Psych test... But I think today's shopping spree was worth it... Hee... Because.................

My parents bought a scanner and a new digital camera for me! YEAH!! Hee... Finally I can have the scanner to myself! Oops... Actually I'm sharing it with my sister... I guess having a scanner will be useful for both my sister and I. Gone with the days of looking frantically for a scanner, asking each and everyone of my friends if they have a scanner. Hey people, I provide scanning service! Can look for me if you guys need any help on that... It's FOC! Hee... =)

Oh ya, the camera I bought was Canon Ixus 40... The ultra slim and compact digital camera by Canon... I bought it today because there is a 5 day promotion which included discounts and freebies... For that, my parents sponsored 20% of the price and I paid the rest... I'm so happy! Hee...

Thurs Bio test

It will be an easy paper at the end of the sem coz it's an open book exam and only MCQ questions... I was wrong! How naive of me to think that way! Why on earth did I take up general Biology? Haiz... I realised my mistakes after yesterday's Biology test. There were 10 short answer questions and we were required to attempt minimum 6 questions. If one decides to attempt all 10 questions, the marker will choose only the best 6 answers. Sounds great and attractive right? But who knows? I can only manage to attempt 4 questions after scrutinizing all the questions... Sigh... Dun worry, I ended up submitting 7 answers after flipping through the textbook frantically... *crossing my fingers and hope to pass the test*

Met up with Ken for dinner at Causeway Point after the disappointing test... I was late due to the heavy traffic and downpour... Ate my favourite waffle ice cream at Gelare cafe. YUMMY! He'll be flying off to USA on Saturday. He'll be gone for 9 days. Sigh... I'll miss him man... Anyway Happy belated 26th month anniversary dear... =P

I am now in AS7 blogging and printing my lectures notes for tomorrow coz my computer's down again! Shucks! I can't log in to MSN either... Sian... Which means no MSN, no checking of emails (both hotmail and NUS accounts), no IVLE and no blogging! *wails* So guys, help me look out for important notices in IVLE k? *hugz* Hee...

HURRY UP!! If not you are going to be late!

My mum was rushing me early this morning because I gotta reach the Arts camp councillor recruiting booth by 10.30am. Gotta reach there earlier coz need to help set up the booth... While on my way to school, Bobz called... He was having a stomach upset and not joining us for the duty... Awww poor thing... I think he mug too much then not enough sleep resulting in a weak immune system... Hey Bobz, you better go rest! Your health is more important than anything else... Dun eat too oily food! Btw, you did not return my sms regarding the windsurfing thing! Urkkk... Hee...

Was giving out pamphlets with Joy and Grace... Things were starting to get boring when they carried out the tv! Yeah... Joy and I were watching the show being played and it brought back all those good and fun memories... All the cheering and bonding etc... We were on the verge of tearing... *sob* Haha, it's a recorded tape on the past years Arts Camp events...

Something interesting happened while we were giving out pamphlets... A giant rooster walked passed us! Haha.... Yeah a GIANT ROOSTER! Hee... It gave us some freebies but I gave it to Rayner.. Wahaha...Poor guy, must be suffering inside that rooster costume... But it's very interesting to have such things going on in campus... Hee.. Brings life to the mundane school life.. Haha... Joy suggested that we should go find the Powerpuff girls costume and wear it around school. Wahaha... Actually I dun mind.. Hee... Since the three of us got famous due to the skit in Oweek. Hee...

Sian

I started the week with a long day in school on Monday......

Had Japanese Studies tutorial in the afternoon and then followed by Health Psych tutorial at 6pm... My Japanese studies project mates and I got a shock when the TA returned us our preliminary project outline. We got a shock and felt quite disappointed when we realised that we obtained 5/10 for our outline. At least it's better than the groups who got 3/10... Something to console ourselves.. Heh..

Stoned infront of 4 boring and wordy Health Psych articles with Ruth, Liqing and Peiyun in Central Library while waiting for the 6pm tutorial. Just before the evil articles succeeded in hypnotising and putting us into deep sleep, Ruth and I decided to go to the bazaar along AS 6/1 walkway and the one at the Arts Forum... I bought a blue wrist watch for my sister coz it's her birthday! Heh... Actually I like the watch alot too... Hee... Happy birthday! She's one of the few who's birthday falls on the 29th Feb. Yes... A special person...

Had an 'Annual Psychologists Conference' during the Health Psych tutorial, discussing about Cancer and cardiovascular heart diseases.. As my group consisted of year 1 students, we did not know most of the terminologies used by the year 2s and 3s... Therefore I felt that there's tension between the yr 1s and the rest... They mocked at us when we asked the TA to explain the terminologies used... So sad...

Helped out at the Arts camp councillor recruitment booth on Friday.. It was a good experience and I also realised the mistakes that I have made in judging people... I finally realised who are the friendly ones and who are the hostile and petty people... Hmmm... Or is it person? Wahaha... One thing I wana say to that person... "Do you know that you SUCK! You are one damn petty person I've ever seen in my life! Sorry if this is not true about you.. But the way you portray yourself infront of us makes me sick! If this is not true about you, let time reveal the real you..." Ok don't make guesses people... I'll never say who the person is.. Ok enough of that person...

Went out with Ken yesterday... We went to watch a movie in Marina Square and then proceeded to Suntec for dinner... Wah, you guys should go and check out the latest Marina Sq man... It's like an empty and deserted building without any shops in business... Cannot be considered as a ghost town becoz there were people walking around in the building... Y? Not becoz they were shopping.. Not becoz they like to walk around in a shopping center with all the shops closed and also definitely not becoz they enjoyed the 'emptiness'... Haha... The crowd in Marina Sq came for a purpose... To watch movie in Marina Leisureplex... Wahaha...

After the movie, we crossed over to Suntec and ate in Country Mana.... We waited for almost 30mins for our food to arrive.... *gobble* Since it was still early after eating, we decided to go to the arcade... Haha... We love arcade! Hee.. We played Time Crisis, Gun Bullet, Daytona, Bishi Bashi Champ, and our favorite one, the basketball shooting game... Heh.. We are both basketball and soccer lovers... I'm not so hardcore lah.. Haha... Suddenly, I feel young again... Wahahaha.....
