On the last day of 2005, the starry awards

Today is the last day of 2005. Phew ! phew! Phew ! Hear my sigh of relief. Ok, this is my 2nd reflection for the year & i will write this better than last year's... Ok, this is thanksgiving time (macham like Grammy awards. "thank you to blah..blah..blah..") Would like to thank the ppl who appeared in my life in 2005. No particular order in merit, hehe...

 1. Liselle - for your cheerfulness & optimism (i do need to be more of that !). Wow, i thot back of the time we knew each other thru Friendster then MSN then finally meeting U with your choc smarties brownie @ blue Moo in March . Hope that U don't grow up (i mean, in your heart) ! :D
 2. Celine - heartfelt tags though we don't get to meet often except once in blue MOOn. Hope that we (U, me & Jewel) can catch up more often !
 3. Jewel - You wow me with your undying...Wu Bai ge devotion to Budak (i suspect we all are) !
 4. Froggy - Thank you for listening to me & giving me advice when i needed it. You do have a sensitive <3>
 5. Budak Pantai - for getting to know you guys over A CUP OF TEA & later at Tekka. Anyway, i like your "Bollywood" dance. It looks more interesting @ blue Moo with all high-end jokes & lovely accents & instrument imitation.
 6. CrappieCake - Though we knew each other really late but i'm really glad to know you & have your company. We do have things in common - teachers, don't really go out or spend too much $$. Yes, one day we both go to blue Moo together ! :D
 7. Gordon - I know you're ultra bz but hey, take care, ok? Thank you for reminding what's impt. I think you're the most misunderstood one.
 8. Adrian - hehe... sorry to bug you for all the IT stuff becos i'm really IT idiot one ! But really grateful for all your help.
 9. Elvin - Thanks for coming down with me to help move mountains and hills (i mean, heave chairs & tables) at the rooftop of YMCA. It's great & a blessing to have a bro-in-Christ like you.
 10. Budak frans (Weina, Yimei, Jezialle,Steph & others) - thanks for getting to know you all & see you guys @ blue Moo

There ! I've completed my top 10 thank-you-ppl list ! There're more to thank like my CG, my family...

Resolutions,mmm... frankly, i don't believe in 'em becos it's easier said than done. Well, i shall make them even though i know some won't be fulfilled in 2006...

Top 10 resolutions
 1. Get a job that i really like (minimal 'politics' becos i have a disdain for them) No stuffy office jobs hopefully...
 2. Peace in the... family (if my Dad gets less PMSY then the whole family'll be VERY happy.)
 3. Health (I get the flu, sore throat attraction and the wateva-itis...)
 4. Graduate from ECE (yes, that's in Feb but still have to re-take module in Aug, yucks !)
 5. Complete Grade 5 theory (as in classical piano, no procrastination of doing those bothersome theory book)
 6. Learn to play jazz, swing, bossa nova tunes on the keyboard/piano (anyone want to teach me?)
 7. Discipline in completing the a cappella scores for..... (sorry, can't reveal as yet as i need to squeeze all my brain juice fro this...)
 8. Teach pop piano (if you want to learn for the skill, i'm ok. Exams & classical music excluded pls !)
 9. Take up vocal lessons (i really need to improve my singing tecnique if i still want to sing a cappella style...)
 10. Renewed faith & trust in God (QT esp!!)

Ok, that's all for my reflections to close the year 2005. Juz hope that 2006 will be a better year for me and all i care...

Crabby me who needs some PEACE !

Great. I actually lost my cool in front of my grandma's house guest. My dad and i were in a really heated argument. The last time i lost my cool when i was in pri sch days. I can't believe that i actually did that...

When i left the house for classes, i was fuming mad and wanted very much to slam the door and just storm off. At that moment, i wanted very much to be at Esplanade concourse area where i can always calm down. That place has a calming effect on me....

Yes, i need some peace. By the time i reached class, i was really drained as anger really sapped my energy. Anyway, my parents never support me in whatever i do. Music, studies, job, blah, blah, blah... All they do is pour freezing ice-cold water on me whenever i need encouragement or advice. Esp my mum. There are times i really dislike her.

Boy, am i glad to have this blog to vent my anger, frustrations, emotions or watsoeva... becos i learnt that ppl are not good listeners. Not that i'm one. I do try... Maybe i pop by Esplanade to 'cool' down...

2 days prior to Christmas

My caroling session @ Paragon (24 Dec 2005)was quite ok except that the mic that i held was roaring loud to to ears that i literally toned down my singing for fear of Diana (my aca grp's lead) can't be heard. Frankly, singing outdoor is good as it makes me more sensitive to my singing than indoors. I think that i had matured as an amateur singer as i used to be really fretfully and superbly upset when i made mistakes on stage or sing wrongly on stage. Now, my thinking is: hey, what's the big deal? As least that's an experience. No need to have hoo-har abt it...

Maybe "suay" on my part. But i was down with cold and sore throat. Thankfully it was not laryngitis or throat infection or that i have a fever... or you''ll see me bed-stricken ! On the eve of Christmas eve (= 23 Dec), i had my cg party & brought my friend WJ. Looks like he enjoyed himself socialising with my friend's friends. Well, he's a more sociable person than me, a slow-to-warm kinda person.

Wow, soo much food ! To tempt your tastebuds... turkey ham, salad, roated chicken, log cake, pesto, creamy pasta + extra food that Esther's friends brought over. We definitely had more than enuff ! This year's Christmas food is definitely better. It feels Christmasy. Thankfully, my being with sore throat & cold didn't dampen my mood as I was still able to sing my solo for this song "so you would come" at the party. I feel surprised too as that day my throat was in a really bad state than the past few days.

My caroling session at Wisma - 18 Dec 2005! Weijie, Jewel & Celine, thx 4 cmg down to support me though i know my grp sounded like some unclean cassette tape playing, haha ! Thanks for the rose... though it's withered on my way home. Hey, but i really appreciate it with your great company & chatting away at Pastamania & Coffee Bean. Wah seh, i lost my voice right after singing the final song Budak's "Can't help falling in love" (the very 1st ultra-bad AKA version of Budak with the super horrid ending !)... Well, i tried singing Mike's guitar part (that caused me to lost my voice after the session.) inpromptu on stage. I think my grp mates were surprised by me lah, haha ! But i enjoyed this one...

the Christmas fortnight

It's been a great week for me. Finally getting to watch Budak concert. I really burnt a hole in my pocket as i saved up about $50 juz to pay 4 the concert & compilation album. Not that i regret or anything. Anything to support my fave vocal grp - Budak Pantai. I loved the opening song " Hark the herald". Tied in nicely with "It came upon a midnight clear".

After the concert, my friend WJ feedbacked to me that Budak is getting stagnant in their music and should had gotten more material. Well, i'm at loss whether to agree with that esp when i listened to them @ blue Moo a tad too much. But then, WJ is a vocal music enthusiast and even pickier than me regarding music. So Budak, don't take it to heart...

I would say for myself that i am neither disappointed nor elated with the concert. I went on the 17th Dec which was the 1st day. But 1 thing for sure, the audience loved the old material of Budak as they gave a really loud ovation for "Abuden" & "No Matter". Esp "Abuden", that song always had a special place in my heart becos it was that song that had me listening for the very 1st time & crazy over Budak with that silly but funny ppt slide @ the final AKA A Cappella. And i never tire of that song.

Haha, i'm always feeling nolstalgic, ya? Actually i'm a sentimental kind of person though zhui3 ying4 xin1 luan3... But it's to reminisce about the past but not live in it. But when u recall, it can be either amusing, regretful or thankful when you had that experience. Well, there're some that i regreted...

a week of craziness !

Juz when i thought i can have a RELAXING week, everything seem to bombard me all at once. Got this presentation that i've got to do.... my research lecturer called me up to bug me abt my survey... my head felt heavy despite having enuff Zzzz...

This morning, i woke feeling edgy and my throat feeling weird. Oh no, hope dat i'm not coming down wif throat infection. Aargh ! shouldn't have eaten the Hershey mlik choc kisses juz 2 days ago... i was really craving for choc & it's the Japanese strawberry choc kind. I had to settle 4 2nd best when it's out of stock. One would think that only pregnant ladies would have cravings but NO. When i want to eat for meals, i usually follow my cravings, hehe... :D

Oh, it came as a a surprise when Froggy mentioned abt Budak on Arts Xplosion mag cover. YAY, thankfully, i got TODAY berita sent to my house daily so i've also got the complimentary arts mag together as well. Never seen Budak looking so "patriotic" b4 ! Haha, well... that's Budak pose 4 U ! Ok, back to rushing 2 reports & 1 progm booklet...

Thots a la random...

Yeterday I went to watch Chicken Little (CL) with my youngest sis. I always felt that watching cartoon animations in a cinema is a waste of $$ but after yesterday, i felt it was worth the movie pass rather than the $$ (got 2 free GV passes from my dad la...), hehe....

CL was really funny & full of cliches esp the part where Piggy recalls the Gloria Gaynor tune "I Will Survive". I guess i could identify with CL becos my parents never believed in me regarding music. My mum only think classical music is the way out ! In Singapore, classical music is viewed for the rich & exclusive. Not that i am in that RICH & EXCLUSIVE category.

Aft that, halfway thru my bus ride home with my sis, i got an SMS from cowpat to meet up in Orchard. Chocolatte was there too. But due to the last minute thingy, i couldn't get back home to return u your Budak tix, sorry 'bout dat, really rushed la...

Great to meet up with cowpat & chocolatte to talk, have a drink @ Coffee Club. Talked abt Budak stuff again & others... Speaking of which, cowpat nicknamed the Budaks after their upcoming 4th album, "Assorted Nuts" (weird title but i guess it's juz their NUTTY selves).

Gordon = serious/"leng3 mian4 xiao4 jiang4" nut (really, he's supa-serious & can joke juz lidat !)
Michael = talkative/madcap/extraordintelligence nut (becos he's always spouting his "chiminology")
Joe = sugar-coated, dancey nut (he's really sweet... oh, he loves to dance on stage?!)
Kak = colourful nut (the golden haired "gal" of Budak, always changing hair colour)
Danny = quiet/can't-keep-still nut (he barely talks & always moves abt on stage so v hard to capture on cam)

Ok, not bad for an explanation eh? So happen that i put info abt Budak under 'Nutty'... I guess their 4th album installation is so appropriate as their music is well... assorted & they're really nuts, haha !

Jazzy afternoon !

My parents & I went to church early for 2nd svc. Usually my parents would go for the 1st svc as they wanted to accompany my grandma who goes for Mandarin svc (which shifted to the same time slot as the 1st svc). and thereafter bring her for lunch.

Surprised that the speaker for the month was my dad's friend, June's husband. The sermon was good that it set me thinking about my life for 2005. As i reflect back, 2005 is not really a good year for me. Many BAD things happen at home. Ok, i leave my reflections for 2005 to end of the year...

It was great spending time with friends like Silent, Chocolatte, Cowpat, Weijie, Froggy. 1st was the UFM mini concert that i caught with Celine, Weijie, Kelly & even Adrian. 2nd was meeting Chocolatte (sorry that i had to use her pseudonym for special reasons). 3rd was meeting cowpat & froggy. 4th was bumping into Kaks (i nicknamed him "polarbear" bcos he feels like one?) for the 3rd time at... Key Elements' concert.

Last Fri, i met up with chocolatte & cowpat for dinner @ Makansutra (the roadside stall concepted hawker centre built juz after the hit variety of the same title), the place which supposedly to sell the best food in Singapore.

After church, i went to say hi to June & talked about my grandma. As i talked, i felt tears behind my eyes as i felt really overwhelmed by bad events that happen this year. Felt worried for my grandma as she's worrying abt my uncle (her son, that is...) and she will start to cry. Feel really sorry for her as she has her rectum permanantly removed & having a disposable waste disposal bag attached to her body instead. It's really "sheng1 bu4 ru2 si3" !

After lunch, Joy & i went to her place to rehearse for IBHFC. We are supposed to jazz up the carols. Yes, i managed to play Budak's "God Rest Ye" & "What Child" (i like the jazzy feel for this one...) on Joy's keyboard. How i figure it out ? I juz listen briefly to my mp3 & got the chords out within minutes. We rehearsed till 4+ p.m then i left for my aca grp practice, which i dun wanna talk abt it.

My cousin's wedding !

Saturday: my cousin from my dad's side of the family had gotten married ! It was really a crowd @ my cousin's house though i am not close to him. But wow, my cousin's wife looked pretty ! Well, as the saying goes, the bride looks the most beautiful on her wedding day. Btw, my 2 HK cousins flew in specially for this occasion. Well, they are both much older than me, @ leats twice my age ! But i got along well with both and communicated in Mandarin thoughout though one of them was struggling with her Mandarin as she was so used to spouting in Cantonese. Here's some phots that i had taken...

Paya Lebar Methodist church... really grand though the service was quite boring.

The banner on the church wall... i like the 5 men there.

My family ! My, i look FAT! boo hoo...

My 2 HK cousins & me ! sum gor leng ngue (in my horrendous Cantonese)

My closest cousin & me (happily 'single?)

Sunday: the wedding dinner @ Orchard Parade Hotel was quite an entertainng affair though at first i thot that the company i had was obnoxious &the food was not that great. Talking abt which U one graduate from & blah, blah, blah... Frankly i don't fancy social gatherings like this becos i am not one who can talk much. Unless i feel comfortable, then i start yakking like a llama duck (?) Yup, after a while, my table became the loudest table becos one of the guest kept joking throughout & kept us laughing away. I was really controlling myself not to burst out.

Well, my cousin & his bride wore the Chinese traditional costume as the evening wear. The red bouquet on his shirt should be bigger then really look like the original Chinese wedding costume ! I didn't think that my square-head of a cousin to sing his self-composition to his bride. We were so tickled by his song that we kept chuckling to ourselves. But hor, that's so nice of U to sing that to your bride. Thoughtful !

I was already half-dead by the time by the time i reached home. 2 days of celebrations relly wore me out...

UFM event ~ Zhen Shan Mei

Finally find time to blog abt the UFM event which was organised at BAR celona on 19 Nov 2005, Friday nite. The place was cramped & small.
It was my 2nd time going for UFM mini concerts. My 1st time was at the Pavilion watching David Tao a few years back & saw Budak as guest performers & doing background vocals for him. I don't go for such events usually as i have a v low opinion on Mandopop. Below is my review for the event...

Other than Budak Pantai, there were other local artistes as David Tan, Seven, Hong Shao Xuan as well as Taiwnanese pop songstress Chen Qi Zhen.

David Tan is no doubt one promising singer/songwriter. He even double up as David Tao's musical team. Impressive ! His vocals is good too & sound really like David Tao ! However, his partner was a better musician than singer.

Hong Shao Xuan is our veteran xinyao singer. He is a pretty good singer esp when he hit the high notes. Quite ok for a singer.

Seven really rocks ! A husband-wife team. I really enjoyed their vibrant performance. It's a pity that the sound engineer didn't adjust the sound well that the minus 1 was loud that it almost covered the vocals.

The moment is here... drum rolls... BUDAK !! They really got the crowd responding. Hey, its better than the crowd @ blue Moo. Oh yes, they sang Abba, Sha Tan, Sim Ai Eh, the birthday song, Lovers' tears (the movie version). For once, ppl got the gist of the joke when Kak pointed to his GOLDEN hair of glory on the "Abba" song. Hi-5!* to the Budak golden haired "gurl" ! Happy that ppl finally respond when Kak tried to crack a joke. Even me who alr by now used to Budak humor couldn't help laughing.

Last but not least, the LAST guest artiste of the event: Chen Qi Zhen from Taiwan. Frankly, i don't have a good opinion of her as a singer because of her ultra saccharine + not-that-great vocals. So sweet that i believe that i will vomit out of over-dosage. Frankly, i was thankful for the "toilet breaks" i took. Her music was really sleep-inducing and lacked variety. Her sleepy kind of music + the voka coke made a powerful combination to make me feel sleepy after the event.
Haha, that's my review. But overall, i enjoyed our local artistes' performances which i felt that we Singaporeans has a lot of potential becos of multi-racial culture & differing music influences.
Well done to all ! By the end of the event, i was like 1/2 asleep & red like a tomato (due to the vodka...) that's why didn't say hi to Budak. Embarassing leh !

November 10, 2005

strangely serene

Its been a crazy week. Rehearsal for pastor Dan Koh's cg member's 25th wedding anniversary on a Sun morn (5 Nov 2005) was great. Though it was a simple one, yet it felt fulfilling. I guess when u have a heart of servitude towards God, your perspective changes. Ppl had been asking me why i am not playing in the worship team or when i am going back to the team.

Frankly, i don't know how to answer them. Bcos the last few years, i have been feeling dat smth is wrong with my playing on the keyboard. My skills are deteriorating. Joy said that i had improved but i beg to differ. I think it's my heart + musical taste that had changed.

Gordon, it's not becos of Budak. It is me reflecting on my playing on the worship team as a whole as servitude unto God. I dropped out becos i felt that i no longer feel that i am growing as a musican after playing for 10 years now. I just became a musical robot. My conviction is that God wants my best, from the heart.

Yes, my aca grp Beats & Pieces 'butchered' a familiar carol arrangement of ours, "White Christmas". It has a jazzy feel as i told the group that it would be good if we sing it dat style. Ah ! I have to imitate the saxophone in my singing = vocal instrumentation. Really thankful to God for blessing us with 2 gigs & even potential ones under the umbrella of Barker Rd Methodist church. Yes, i am looking fwd to next practice. More butchering a la Budak style, i hope ! hehe !

I'm also looking fwd to hearing Budak singing @ UFM on 18 Nov, a Friday nite with silent, weijie, jezialle & her frens. Irene & jewel, a real pity dat u can't go wif me...well, u'll be going wif me for e Dec one, rite :D ?

Jazz @ Key Elements concert

Went with Barry, Weijie & his frens to catch Key Elements, our local jazz a cappella group @ Victoria concert hall on 5 Nov 2005, Sat nite. E concert was not too bad except for sound glitches which affected the sound quality as a whole. Sometimes the sound doesn't come out or it comes out too loud. Like Vaughn, KE's bass was so loud in 1 song that it covered the rest...

I like KE's tunes such as Fly Me To The Moon & Beyond The Sea sung by Kim Beng, KE's lead vocal who sang both songs with his own flair. I like that ! The uplifting jazz tune S'wonderful performed by Benedict, the baby baritone of KE was one infectious tune to jig along ! Hey, that's my fave song from KE !!

Well, i was impressed with Yue Liang Dai Biao Wo De Xin, sung by Suzanne, KE's sop. Her Chinese pronounciation was clear and that proved the groups' vocal prowess. Though i still prefer Budak version, hehe !!

Oh, did i mention that i saw Kaks @ e concert? Hahaha ! Saw him twice at 2 concerts & both are a cappella concerts ! Well, we chatted a bit. His "golden" hair has now grown and unkempt looking like the "girl with the golden hair", hehe... Anw, gonna catch Budak on 18 Nov @ e UFM concert @ Barcelona wine bar. Sorry, u hv to buy tix @ e UFM studio. So, listen to UFM 100.3fm or go to http://budakpantai.motime.com for details, k?

Aft e concert, i bought 2 cds; one KE single & one In-A-Chord's Christmas album for my a cappella album collection ! Aiyo, i am now "pok gai" ! After which, we went to Lau Pa Sat, Satay club for supper and chatted for quite a bit. Getting to know new friends and chatting was great for a cool nite...

November 02, 2005

today...so encouraged

Woke up around 8+ a.m when i slept rather late due to insomnia. No thanks to my dad who kept yakking about updating the stupid Norton virus update on my pc. For almost 1 hour !!!! Then my msn kept shutting down, darn!!

When it finally came up, unexpectedly Gordon buzzed me on msn words of comfort on my throat infection... Aww... so touched as usually he's really bz so i dun really buzz him on msn. We chatted for quite a bit. I was really encouraged by his passion towards God and that in way gave me a jolt. He really set me thinking in my service as church keyboardist to God.

When i saw YM's post on her helping the Budaks on the ppt slides for the concert, i really thot that i would be envious. But i am not. Juz the normal me. But Gordon's words of encouragement made my day. It never crossed my mind that he would do that. But yes, Gordon, you made my day... Thank you !! =)

October 31, 2005

Engaged to play

Well, i am down wif throat infection so rite now my mind is a blank so dunno what to blog here...
Yes, i am being engaged to play keyboard for a member in the Adults cell grp - wedding anniversary. I guess that i am blessed to have such outside 'engagement' beside playing for the church worship team. I recall one such engagement dur my sec sch days. Went to All Saint church with youth pastor Ernest. Though it was simple, it was a great deal to me.

October 23, 2005

Songs of yesteryears...

Went to Esplanade and dropped by Retro shop and bought this Cai Qin classic. She's got a mellow and soothing voice, esp when she hit the low notes. I heard her songs when i was really young as a kid. The shop owner told me that her shows are always sold-out ones with the most ex as much as $500 being sold out 1st to the cheapest. Wow (x3)

When i tried the CD at the shop, a lot of the songs were familiar to me and classic hits. It's just that most of the titles were not unfamiliar to me. Well, the one that is played on my blog is Lovers' Tear or Qing Ren De Yan Lei. If you ever hear Budak's version, i think you'll like the song. Lovely.

October 16, 2005

Budak Pantaitis?

Hurray ! Soooo happy 2dae !! Had a really boring aca pract ystd. Singing dat super boring KS's piece. Really want to drop out of the grp after this year... Have yet to fig out Budak's tunes & sing them 4 myself & to spread Budak Pantaitis as BDBP put it. I think most of the Budak fans are incurable !! haha...

Dunno y, have been feeling nolstalgic. Aar ! miss watching Budak singing @ blue Moo... have to wait til Dec to see them. Never mind, @ least, have 2 of 'em to email/ chat to over msn, hehe *grins. Oh, the tunes on my mp3. Well, i managed to cut the soundclips. Though nt veri funtastic but still v.good ! E best of the clips was Abuden (my fave Budak tune of all time...). E Cake song comes in 2nd ! Oh, how i luv those slapstick tunes ! :D

How i cut it? With my ever useful mp3 player + discman. Cut it during the trip back from class & home. It's tough having to cut @ the rght timing so i ended up cutting them many times so as to get it right & that took me 2 hours. I ended up cutting a lot but i chose the best with a listenability for ppl who may not have heard of them.

October 14, 2005

the droolsome Stairway to Heaven cd !

Actually i bought the STH's cd last week. Now only got time to upload e pics up here. Really nice tracks though 1 or 2 songs differ from what was broadcast on the show. Frankly, i thot STH was better than Winter Sonata. Less draggy.

Well, my week has been Korean drama-filled. I want to buy Kwon Sang Woo [ aka Cheng Jun in STH]'s previous work,Love in the Sunshine. Heard that it has a happy ending. Wow, he cuts a dashing figure in the navy suit ! * drools

October 09, 2005

$$ for 2 concerts?

i checked a cappella blog http://acapellamusic.blogspot.com & realised that there are 2 most anticipated concerts - Budak Pantai [Dec] & Key Elements [Nov]. E question is: shld i go 4 both? or mayb juz choose 1?

Argh ! where is the $$? I wanna go for BOTH!! KE is releasing their debut jazz album on the concert day & mayb BP will too. Too bad $$ dun drop frm heaven. Frankly, i have many thots on KE as i 1st heard them @ Acafest this year. I tink they're still quite ok but BP is still my type ! Really @@ fwd to BP's concert, can't wait !!!!! :D

Ok, Angie was really nice to send me the Cadence CD! I love it! They sound so cool! I wonder they had ever came to S'pore... Mus be the a cappella music bug biting me. That recalls for me watching the Magnets @ Victoria Theatre wiv frens. I wanna watch the Magnets again despite the rather stagnant variation in their upbeat numbers.

October 03, 2005

attachment drains me

Soooo TIRED!! After 2 wks of practicum at this childcare centre, i feel so sian & tired. my supervisor kept pushing me to finish my pract 2 report. Rite now feeling edgy & snappy. I literally snapped at my dad everyday as he had been getting on my nerves with his incessant nagging + grumbling...

Juz bought the soundtrack of Korean drama Stairways to Heaven. $16.90 with a MV DVD extra. Worth the $$$. Kwon Sang W00 (a.ka. Cheng Jun) is sooo "yan dao". I think he's quite a versatile actor and can act cool/suave/cheeky/rebellious. All rolled into one.

<= Kwon Sang Woo (Quan Xiang Yu) *drools... faints...

ok, today I went to the VCD store at Bedok and saw his lates offering: Sad Love Story which costs $49.90 (original price = $69.90!!). Then i saw his previous work Love in the Sunshine (costs $29.90). He looked sooo suave in the navy uniform or any uniform or Western suit for that matter.

I love his character as Cheng Jun, the lovelorn millionaire of an enterprise. One minute suave, another crying his heart out, and another minute cheeky. How can any girl resist?

October 01, 2005

Stairways to Heaven

Yippee ! Finally got a 512 mb memory card 4 my digicam ! I've always disliked watching soap dramas til I started watching Korean dramas. Yes, Autumn in My Heart was so heart wrenching, then came Hotelier, Winter Sonata and All in etc. Anw, i got all those VCDS ! Frankly, once in a while, I will switch to hearing the Korean language. Nice sounding. I really like Korean food as well ! Kimchi, Korean ginseng chicken & all those mini side dishes.

Well, I even use the metal chopsticks bought by my family who went to Korea without me all because i was on attchment that time, boo hoo hoo !! Korean dramas always have that emotional element and even their comedies are really funny unlike those Jap ones who is so kua1 zhang1...
Even their heart wrenching tv theme song which uses piano & orchestration designed to pull at the audience's heartstrings. I admit i shed a tear or 2 at those scenes.

Ok, the Korean drama frenzy has struck again even stronger than Hurricane Rita or Katrina. Haha, i prob sound drama but i am glued to the TV on Mon & Tues nites on this 2002 Korean drama Stairways to Heaven, acted by Kwon Sang Woo & Choi Ji Woo. Haven't been watching Korean shows for quite some time since Winter Sonata. Stairways to Heaven is like the 2nd Winter Sonata & Autumn in My Heart combined.

Very touching but i had a v. weird reaction to it. I actually was laughing when i saw the male lead crying. Why? Mostly in Korean drama, the female willl cry so much but yet in Stairways to Heaven , the male lead cry so much that i was actually tickled by it. Hiya, i had alr finished watching the serial. So sad... Why the ending so sad?

September 25, 2005

The Magnets attraction

Was so, so tired from the last 2 weeks & super STRESSED that i haven't been sleeping well. By the time on Sun, i was superly tired that by the time i met up with Lis & Joe to watch the Magnets, I felt so shacked ! But nevertheless an a cappella concert never fail to perk me up. Must be the expresso that i had beforehand that gave me the energy boost...

The Magnets were quite cool in their suits and slick choreo. The 1st half was quite ok and i was impressed by their vocal prowess in the acoustic version of 60-Minute Man (w/o mics, mind u...) Their upbeat numbers are pretty good except for little variation in variety. Actually i was won over by their mid-tempo numbers. They are quite funny too! Esp so in the 2nd half.

What made the concert fun was they got the audience to do a simple dance step with them at the last song the end of the concert. Frankly, i really like jigging along with them in those numbers. Yeah, hope that they do come back here for another concert !

New digicam !!

Yippee ! Got a new digicam Samsung Digimax A400 for myself. My dad got it for me becos the electrical co. who fixes our brand new house fridge gave him a digicam in compensation for the fridge breakdown few days after it "joined" my household.

Testing... testing... 1,2,3.... cam testing...

Budak Pantai's "not-so-circle" coaster

Joe's letter to SMU... Yes, they're rectifying the problem now.

Mike's letter regarding the children watching obscene things at the mall. Ya, we ought to watch what our kids see these days...

Tic Tac Tone's Secret Diary on 10 Sep 2005

I went on the 2nd-cum-last night of Tic Tac Tone's Secret Diary concert on 10 Sept 2005 Saturday night at the Esplanade Recital Studio. The 2-night concert is a celebration for TTT's 5 years of songs & laughter. Heard that it was full house on the 9 Sep night before.

Tic Tac Tone (TTT) is a mixed a cappella sextet consisting of 4 guys & 2 gals. Its members are Serene (soprano), Alina (alto), Roy (tenor), Ken (baritone), Gene (baritone cum vocal percussionist) & Khar Liang (bass). Well, their programme booklet came in the form of a CD album cover which gives a brief description of what TTT is about.

The stage had no props, save for 6 high chairs. TTT came onto the stage with casual wear & hats propped on their heads with a James Bond medley with Khar Liang's earthy bass rumble that is realistic enough to resemble the original score.

Every Breath You Take is one song which TTT used to intro the makeup of a cappella singing by having each of its members coming in part by part. The lead is taken by Roy, the tenor of the group. Though there was a small part that had a minor off-tune somewhere in the middle of the song, the group managed to cover it well.

The familiar Chinese oldie Cha Shao Bao & Zou Zai Zai Da Jie De Nu Zi were taken by Serene, TTT's soprano. The former song was given a very unique twist and modern flavour. Serene handled the song with her great stage presence. Hey, Cha Shao Bao was infectious and it's still stuck on my head after the show !

Brian Mcknight's One Last Cry was sung by TTT's baritone Ken who took the lead. This song according to TTT, was Ken's audition piece to join TTT and it blew the group away when they heard him sang this song. Ken handled the song with great vocal control and it really impressed me when he reached the high notes during the song with a nice sound for a baritone.

Then came the last song for the 1st half of the concert where TTT encouraged audience participation for Everlasting Love. Ken led the half of the audience to sing his melodic part while Alina led the other half to sing her harmonizing part. Alina & Ken "competed" whose side of the audience could sing better. The response of both sides of the audience were great ! Ken even joked to the audience that he would not have them singing inpromptu but will cue them in. That garnered laughter from the audience. Great 1st half !

The 2nd halfis just as exciting!. TTT guys sang a solo with Gene as lead. What can be more captivating than having a vocal percussionist croon a tune and a ballad at that? Well, Gene proved to be just as good in singing Love Is On The Way and double-roled in vocal percussing. Nice.

There's also a very lovely rendition of New York State Of Mind (first sung by Kimberly Locke from American Idol 2: season 2) sung by Alina, TTT's alto diva. Indeed she sang it with an air of diva. Last but not least, Khar Liang, TTT's bass gave a nice bassy edge to the tune Beyond The Sea, a lovely and familiar jazz piece.

TTT came back with an encore piece of this Cantonese evergreen Shanghai Tan (literally translated as 'Shanghai Beach') where Alina gave a powerful performance in her lead. Strangely, the audience laughed. Must be they find it humorous that one as young as Alina should sing such as an oldie.

Well, this Secret Diary contained all "scandalous" on-dits of TTT that the audience enjoyed 'reading'. Well, I first heard TTT on their 'In Transit' concert back in 2003 & indeed TTT had grown in terms of their sound in this concert. So now at least for me, I enjoy the laughter & humor & the vibrant music that is of Tic Tac Tone twist of it all.

Acafest 2005 aftermath

Firstly, the emcee gave very lame speeches as well as trying too hard to be funny & misprouncing words quite a few times. He even seem so... disinterested. The public must be feeling that they're "ripped off" due to the "amateurish" performance of the performers as many left the show after the 1st half of the show.

You wanna know how bad it is ? Check this review.... http://acapellamusic.blogspot.com/2005/09/review-of-acafest-2005.html
A 2 out of 5 rating. Yes, it's that bad... And afterward I felt flabberghasted of having my friends watch such a low quality a cappella show.

Drenched in @ blue Moo with Budak on 2 Sep 2005 !!

I think last nite was a FANTASTIC ending to Budak's blue Moo performance of the year !! A big thank U & hugz to silent, bighamster & cowpat 4 ur presents... I'm so TOUCHED !! Ok, enuff of the mushy stuff ! Here's the on-dits....

Yimei, Elvin & myself were there @ blue Moo at 3p.m as we need to get the chairs out of YMCA audi by 5p.m. It was raining intermittently (on & off). Yimei & i were 'lucky' enough to just help push the chairs as there were guys & Danny to lug the chairs all the way to the rooftop. Phew, strong men !! * giggling madly

We were pretty fast ! Finished the job by 4p.m ! But we were "rained in" by the rain so couldn't even arrange chairs? Then it stopped but while we arranged the tables and chairs, it drizzled heavily again. Lis & Nana came around 6-ish p.m & we managed to pull the tables & chairs even under such "sky blessings". Well, we were delayed in allowing the ppl in because we were still arranging chairs around the back.

Despite our prayers, it still drizzled heavily. But it didn't deter the audience from enjoying 5 fans singing with Budak onstage. Yay, 2 of my fave songs, Bukan & U to Me were sung !! I was quite surprised when they sang some of their Orange album tunes which haven't been heard for a long time such as Hatiku/She Makes My Day, Ai Guo Yi Hou as well as Longer (medley with Bells On A Hill) from Budakumentary.

Budak seem to have a fetish for Black Eyed Peas' well known hits Don't Phunk With My Heart & Where Is The Love. There were 3 or 4 songs with BEP's tune or lyrics ? Really liked the rendition of the normal traditional birthday song with Don't Phunk With My Heart lyrics. Relly FUNNY ! Thanks, guys. It's a lovely "present" from U !! =)

The biggest surprise for me was when they sang Runaway from the AKA 1 & 2 series. Wow, Joe's vocals really complemented the song though he wasn't the lead in AKA 1 & 2 versions. Btw, the lead from the AKA series was kinda "lao3 qi4", that was why i didn't buy the AKA albums. Another notable good arrangement was Cool Nite. I love the intro part !!

Then comes the ovation fr. the audience when Joe started to sing Qing Ren De Yan Lei (a.k.a Lovers' Tears). When Joe greeted the audience by saying"Xie xie" (which means "thank you" in Mandarin... Aww... so cute the way u said it...), the audience laughed. For once, i found Pedro's Song to be really funny. Almost had stitches. Then there's the tickle-your-senses All Rice song, which happens to be on my top Budak faves.

Ok, Budak did something different by inviting 5 fans to sing onstage with them. No bad i would say. Like i would dare to sing on stage. I have stage fright & i probably freaked out even more if singing with Budak, haha ! What a nice end to Budak's blue Moo performance for the year of 2005 ! Well, there's still the Budaks' concert in December to look forward to !

The (prelude to) Baking Song

I was looking at my email on recipes that i found last wk + mango cake recipes sent by cowpat. Suddenly, i was "inspired" to 'butcher' Budaks' The Baking Song. It goes like this...

"The (prelude to) Baking Song"
Lyrics re-written by "chinks" Tune: "Cake Song" (Budak Pantai)

First you find the recipe
Then you write your shopping list
You go to the supermart
then you start your SHOPPING !

You start walking up and down
to find your ingredients
then you start to calculate
by looking down at your LIST

And then hor, and then hor
you take the items off the shelf
And then hor, and then hor
you walk up to the cashier
And then hor, and then hor
You pay up for your things
Then you bring them home

And then hor, and then hor
you take the stuff out
And then hor, and then hor
you look at your recipe
And then hor, and then hor
you start to measure
how much you really NEED
how much you really NEED
how much you really NEED

And then hor (echo) you start to mix LOR!!

Haha! not bad, eh? Butchered vrsion of the Baking Song ? Hey, i like my prelude version to the Baking Song which happens 2b one of my fave Budak tunes (tickles me a lot) ?!

Went "shopping" for baking accessories. Bought a tiny mini pack of chopped walnuts which costs me $4.20 (so ex- !!) & this cute 'ickle yellow flower cake decoration. So nice but rather ex for a tiny mini box which costs abt $2+... Hiya, nvr mind lah... special day what !!

Reached Lis' house abt 2.30p.m & saw her sweet neighbour. Well, we jammed a few pieces of my scores. Lis found it tough but i had it worse ! My "beansprout reading" ain't that good, ya noe? Jus as bad as my inability of memorizing lyrics...Later in the evening, Lis & I baked a nice nutty mango cake for ourselves.

Yes ! it turned out really nice. Except it's a pity we couldn't use our mango frosting which melted a few seconds after putting on the cake. Well, it's due to the wrong kind of margarine we used. Shld be the hard kind...

Yay, yay, yay !! Weilian won in the Superstar finals !! He deserved it !! His rendition of "Who Knows My Heart" (a really Chinese oldie) really touched the audience's hearts. He really captured the emotion of the song better than Kelly who kept on going off tune whether be it fast or slow (even worse !). It shows that people aren't that blind to just looks. Though Weilian is blind, his heart in singing shows & it touches ppl...

After watching the finals, i went home but got to stop @ Toa Payoh MRT stn & ended up taking a cab home. Reached home after 12am. Dunno why, i couldn't sleep even after 2am (mus be to excited?). Wow, i got some birthday wishes from Justin, Clarissa, Lis & Joe. Thanks, ppl !! Really warmed my<3 !! My youngest sis also gave me 2 cute doggy stuff toys as present. Loved it !! =)

Yay, yay, yay !! BP singing for the last time tmrw @ blue Moo for the year of 2005. There's some special program that Budak is doing. Watch & see, ya?

3 days b4 rewriting the Cake Song

Fri nite, 7.30p.m - my family celebrated my younger sis Su's birthday @ Furama Hotel. Food is decent. I like the "Chinese burger" & mango dessert. Then after dinner, we went down to the lobby where this restaurant which put up a sign that says:

$30++ for lawyers & clients

I was so amused when i saw that. Then i realised that we were near the subordinate courts. That's why...

Sat morn @ 10p.m - my aca grp beats & pieces went to Josiah's friend's place to do our veri 1st recording. Though it was a simple home studio with only 1 mic. The experience was great but TERRIFYING !

My voice was quivering & shivering while i sang into the condenser mic along with the guide track. I couldn't rmb my lyrics to "Born on a new day" that i initially held the score book then later henry held for me & became my "page turner" ! Ai yo, i had the most takes (easily 10 takes though i din count...) !! Now i know how tiring a recording is now that i've experienced for myself. 3 more songs to go...

 1. Rudolph Frosty
 2. Good Ole A Cappella
 3. In Dulci Jubilo

This afternoon - my family celebrated my younger sis Su's birthday. We had Haagen Daz ice cream cake (coconut shavings decorated choc chip ice cream cake). Yummy ! Well, it's rather hard to cut an ice cream as i recalled that one year that my mum used a chopper to "chop" the cake ! hahaha...

As usual, i'm the one tinking the birthday song on my piano while everyone sang along with me.

I was looking at my email on mango cake recipes sent by cowpat. Suddenly, i was "inspired" to 'butcher' Budaks' The Baking Song. See next post...

Why i wrote the lyrics so? Becos on the eve of my b-day, Lis & I going to bake a cake 2gether & hvn quite decided which version of mango cake to bake !

August 26, 2005

Hyperactivity... weird

Dunno y... i felt absurdly hyper today !! Even if my assgnment is long overdue. No mood to do lah ! Happy that tonite my family is celebrating my sis Su's birthday with a dinner @ some restaurant. I think it's been so long that we go out to eat as a family. Where everyone is present.

1st thing 1st... I've decided to put yue liang as blog music to fit the mood of my blog. It's a choice between blue Moon & yue liang (both Budak-arranged tunes). But the "moon" on my blog is rather serene & thought-provoking so i chose the latter rather than the former...

Here's another ! got this from cowpat's blog which she designed it after... http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/llama.php A comical-nonsensical song about a llama duck ? I was tickled by the tune & the lyrics !! hahaha... see it, k?

Yes, the blue Moo reservation list is out !! I have some friends who didn't get the seats due to overwhelming response. Then i juz got this really funny msg which goes: "Hi, Joe from Budak here. Thx 4 coming 2 watch us at blue Moo next Friday. We're inviting some1 2 sing with us on stage next wk. Just pick any Budak song and we'll do backup while u sing the lead part. U can even hv 2 of u sing. take part, ok? " Frankly, i was puzzled and had a sense of foreboding creeping up on me.....

Ok, never mind, i just learnt my alto part in "Can't help falling in love" (Budaks' earlier version with the "die..die.."part), which i ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA how it actually sounds... But the rhythm part in the score is so darned BORING !! But still... i got to learn, haiz...

Hey, i tried with the BP's album version. It sounded weird. I just can't get e part ("like a river flow...") right. For now. I juz wish that i'm allowed to sing impromptu like Budak for this song. Or any Budak tunes in future for dat matter...

Personality test

BBC's personality test that i found on Adr's blog : http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/surveys/whatamilike

I'm a Counsellor .

The four aspects that make up this personality type are:

Summary of Counsellors

 • Search for meaning in their life and develop powerful insights
 • Are dedicated to helping others reach their potential
 • Think of themselves as gentle, peaceable and cautious
 • Others may find it difficult to get to know them

More about Counsellors

 • Counsellors have a natural understanding of human relationships and the complexities of life, which they use to help others. They search for meaning in everything and develop complex insights.
 • Counsellors are least likely to describe themselves as atheists, according to a UK survey.
 • Counsellors feel most relaxed and creative when their surroundings are organised. They are deeply private people who only share their insights with trusted friends; however, they will defend their values if challenged.
 • In situations where they can't use their talents or are unappreciated, Counsellors may withdraw from the people around them or become resentful. Under extreme stress, Counsellors may feel overwhelmed and be driven to organise small parts of their lives such as their kitchen cabinets or their record collection.
 • Counsellors typically prefer a few close relationships to a wide circle of friends.

Counsellor Careers
Counsellors are often drawn to jobs where they can help people develop emotionally, intellectually or spiritually and where they can use their imagination.

Certain characteristics are pretty accurate, ya know ? That i tend to clam up usu. When ppl don't appreciate my talent, i do just that too... Sensitive, emotional, big kid, that's me !

I think i've hiding in a well for far too long juz as my friend pointed out. That why i had been penting up my feelings of anger + bitterness for so long that i thought dat i am feeling-less. Blogging offers a way out for me to express my feelings, thots etc. I guess that i have to learn to let go.

Maybe frankness is not a v. gd thing. But i find it hard to say something that i don't mean.
I find it really hard to keep my thoughts to myself, that's why i ended up offending people. However, i am ultra sensitive, so i do care abt other ppl's comments. Mayb i shld learn to be blase abt ppl's comments no matter how bad they seem...

Reminiscing the MOON !!

Yes, yes, i know ! i changed my blog skin like dunno how many umpteen times but i really like the pic of this moon titled "Reminiscing The Moon". Saw this pic on this email ad from NAC on some concert so i saved the pic for to match the blog music with e blog design.

Nice. I like it a lot betta now... So happy that more ppl are going to the Acafest wif me, esp Jon & Irene, my good buds from TP choir ! Oso v. happy that most of my cg mates + Irene are coming to celebrate my b-day @ blue Moo on Sep 2 (actual day sumore !!) . Yippee !!

Last Fri was FUNTASTIC !! Really an eye + ear opener for me ! Finally got to see how a recording studio looks like inside + how a recording is like. Frankly, it ain't easy being stuck in the studio for a few hours singing and repeating til perfection. I can't imagine myself doing dat ! Probably sung to death, haha !!

Which movie i belong to?

Tarzan & Pirates

What movie Do you Belong in?(many different outcomes!)
brought to you by Quizilla

Haha, saw this off silent's blog.... Actually i agree wif bighamster that it's not totally accurate. So funny that i'm like Tarzan. Hey, i did it the 2nd & 3rd times round & got Pirates ! Mayb i am like that except that big things don't happen to me !

Well, ystd i watched a bit of the National Day rally by PM Lee Hsien Loong. What caught my ear was when he said that Singapore is the only country that can ban chewing gum & make it stick ! Oh, i like that. Straight to the point & humorous. Yes, i agree wif him that Singaporeans should have a "never-say-die" attitude. Not that i'm feeling patriotic here...

August 15, 2005

Really sick !

it's been some time since i've blogged here... Haven't feeling well the past week as i was down wif throat infection & fever & a leaky nose. Even after i recovered after a few days of the doc's medication, i felt really lethargic. So lethargic that i had no energy dur lessons.

Just when i finished my antibiotics, my throat gave way again on Sun morn. My body was like super lethargic after i played for worship for the 1st svc. Then i started to feel unwell when i started playing for the 2nd svc. Thank God for the strength He gave me juz enuff to play for the whole svc.

Then i went home aft playing as i skipped the sermon part to rest at home. Only had cabbage soup for lunch as i conked out on my bed after reaching home. Really tired.

The reason i went home is to rest enuff to go for my aca gp practice as we were sup to record our singing for Coffee club, which we maybe performing there. We discussed our performing opportunities and admin stuff despite Diana not being able to join us at the last min as she has to work, had to be involved in some event for Standard Chartered.

Thankfully, we have Angie's mic system as my voice sounded raspy and can't reach my usual high notes. I sounded really weak and lifeless as i sang dur the pract. The practice was rather fruitful as i managed to learn those parts which i failed to get the 1st time round. Just need more practice. So i sang thruout the practice with a raspy voice.

After practice, i went to join my family for dinner. I was so famished that i had 1 /12 bowl of minced meat noodle soup. As in one bowl of my own & 1/2 bowl off my sis' dinner.

Charlie & the Choc Factory

My cousin & i went out ystd to catch the Charlie & the Choc Factory ystd. Before the movie, we had lunch @ this Japanese fast food outlet. Can i say the food is HORRIBLE ? Yes, yes yes !! Then we went to the Korean supermart shop to look at the Korean products such as kim chi, crackers.

Though this was my 2nd time watching, i still enjoyed because my unorthodox vcd had some scenes missing and one wrong scriptline added. Unfortunately, my throat felt even worse as that morning it was alr quite bad. 1/2 way thru the movie, i had to take a lozenges from my cousin. So irritable, my throat it is.

But after the movie, we went to HMV to buy the movie soundtrack. Yes, Willy Wonka & Augustus Gloop songs are sooo funny ! Later we went to Kinokunya where we bought the Charlie & the Choc Factory story book by Roahl Dahl & diary !! My cousin paid for me as an early b-day gift as we hardly see each other due to our busy schedules.

The day was great as we talked quite a lot and caught up wif each other about the past months & grumbling to each other about our work / school. Ok, another thing to blog about ! Went wif a trio of Silent, Barry & Lis to hear + support Kaks' solo gig. Frankly, it's my 1st time listening to a jazz perf LIVE ! Well, i brought my male fren as he wanted to listen to live jazz perf but couldn't find the places so i brought him lor !

Kaks can sing really well though @ times Lis & I thot we heard the lyrics wrong for 1 of the songs. Hey, why didn he sing it @ blue Moo? The sound system + atmosphere @ blue Moo is definitely better than @ Olive Bistro. Tell me, the patrons' conversations was louder than Kaks & his friend singing. At least we can sit down when we stood thruout the performance for almost 2 hours. But it was a great jazzy experience for me ! =)

August 03, 2005

chocolate blog ?

finally designed & changed my blog skin (again??) to e movie of the year - Charlie & the Chocolate Factory !! Gaga over this movie by super cool + schizophrenic + talented Johnny Depp. He is so darned CHARMING, i wld say !!

He is my fave actor who is always acting offbeat characters & bringing them to life. Realli admired him to bits ! I liked his characters in Edward Scissorhands, Pirates of the Carribean (currently filming part 2 - Dead Man's Chest & part 3 , yay !!)

i admit i was a bit freaked out by his 'look' he created for the character Willy Wonka. But... i LOVED the movie to bits !! =D Even bought 8 Days & FIRST mags becos of that...

Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka

So touching & funny @ e same time... sorry, folks that i watched it even it's officially screened at cinemas here..... i wanna get the soundtrack & vcd/dvd! The songs are darned farnee !! haha ! I suggest that you go & read the book before U watch the movie. Or else U will dismiss it as a silly movie with no substance. Rating? 5 stars from me !! =D

bossa nova blues

These are the 2 cds i bought last week at the Esplanade. The blues cd was bought @ the Esplanade shop while the bossa nova double cd edition @ the shop named Retro along the Esplanade concourse.

Good stuff ! I like both cds. Bossa nova (which is Brazillian jazz) is relaxing esp well-known hits by Antonio Carlos Jobim such as Girl from Ipanema, One Note Samba, Soul Bossa Nova. Worthy buy ! As for the blues cd, none of the artistes are familiar to me but i loved the feel of blues music... soul music...

July 23, 2005

the really relaxed Budaks on 22 Jul 2005

Went to see BP @ blue Moo last nite. They changed the placing of the stage which is better for all to view them betta... My verdict? Superbly Good!!

hint: it's better than in June.

Before ->
I was really late in my promise to Eileen that i wld be there by 6p.m as i recalled at the last minute that i had to buy some stuff for somebody. Bought an ultra CUTE magnetic frog & piggy for Piggy & Froggy.... When i reached YMCA, i was a bit disoriented due to my rushing (i'm always doing dat!). I juz stood there like a doodoo then saw Joe kor coming. We talked quite a bit then later Steph came.

Then I joined them for a short while at some cafe at dunno which floor. Joe kor was realli nice to ask me whether i wanted to share a sandwich but i turned it down as i ate a pretzel from Auntie Anne's at Plaza sing beforehand. I admit i feel worried of my dyslexia assignment that i had to make this urgent call while Joe kor & Steph as I was waiting for Joel & gang.

Really thankful to Joel & his gang for helping despite us sweating like pigs after lugging so many chairs within 1 hour (that's fast!). Liselle & Yimei came together as well. It was really good to be occupied and even more so to see friends helping out...

Was realli HAPPY that my fave Orange cd song "U to me" was sung ! Even Lis' song"Morse code of love" was sung too ! I liked the improved rendition of both songs, really ! Even the funny sounding Hokkien 101 tied in with Wang Chun Feng (David Tao's rendition), which took me by surprise!

Well, there was a slight twist in Leap, Qiu Ni Hui Lai & even Stalker's song. BP mentioned about Abuden being featured in their movie Leap and sang all 3 tunes from it : Abuden, Leap & the newest one, Qing Ren De Yan Lei (aka Lovers' Tears, originated from songstress Cai Qin).

Gor Liap, One Way Ticket, Abba (metamorphosized as described by Mike), Sha Tan, All Rice, Bukan Cinta Biasa, Sim Ai Eh, Say Yes were sung. Dunno whether to be amused, there mus b some forgetful bug that had been so contagious that affects the Budaks. I say this is becos Gordon, Joe, Kah Keh, including Danny all forgot their lyrics or parts one after the other.

Ppl were amused by Gordon who had to take out his Palm top as he forgot his Cantonese lyrics in Bukan and Joe got choked when he started singing Qiu Ni Hui Lai & Kah Keh forgot how to sing his part in One Way Ticket as Danny cued in the Gor liap intro instead of the correct one.

Wendy got her birthday dedication (in advance) from the Budaks singing a not-so-birthday in the form of Quando (the lyrics changed to her name, haha!). Gordon was so bad in asking her how old she was. Eh ! sensitive issue for women leh !

You see, BP was way too relaxed dat they started forgetting lyrics but it loosened the whole atmosphere as compared to the one in June.

July 13, 2005

a day of relaxed tension

A day of relaxed tension? Sounds funny, rite? Haha, well... yesterday was quite tense in the earlier part of the evening because my lecturer yakked at me on my previous assignment. Thankfully, the naggy lecturer didn't get to me that much.

I was already half worried that i am late meeting Lizzy & Jojo kor! I rushed from school like crazy where I took a cab to Clementi mrt station, stopped at Outram Park station, took NEL to Dhoby Ghaut station. I still couldn't make it by 6.30p.m!!

Anyway, last nite was great catching up wiv the both of them @ plaza sing. We had dinner @ Secret Receipe. I admitted that i didn't finish my dinner because i'm not really hungry. I realised that it mus be that i had changed my meal eating habits over the past year of my course. I had learnt to eat really little for dinner like around 5p.m & eating at around 10+p.m for weekdays. My physical body seems to be accustomed to that.

Well, we talked abt stuff from jokes to movies to dunno wat... haha! It's really crazy of us to bring stuff toys & take pics with them!! But really fun!! Lizzy & Jojo, thanks for the great evening! I believe I felt much more relaxed than the dinner with B-guys. Frankly, i really look forward to catching up + having dinner / pigging out on durians with the both of U.

Racial acceptance or tolerance?

Got this New Paper article (Sunday) from silent who typed it on her blog so i cut + paste from there... see who responded to our Minister Mentor's answer on multi-racial success...

Title: Scruffy neighbours? No thanks.

IT began with a flattering question about Spore's multi-racial 'success'. And it received an honest answer from no less than modern Spore's founding father, MM Lee Kuan Yew.No, we're not the Utopia you think we are, and it's not just abt race. There's also a worrying 'class divide'.

He said: 'You don't mind ur neighbours not being of the same ethnic group, but you don't want them to be scruffy and dirty. And you don't want your kids to mix with oth kids who are filthy and speak in vile language.'So although Sporeans are still 'better off here' than in many oth parts of the world, Mr Lee admitted 'there's still segregation of sorts'.

The MM was taking part in a 90-min dialogue with some 100 uni chiefs and academics fr around the world as part of NUS' centennial celebrations.A surprising statement, considering he was addressing foreign university dons?'

Actually, I'll be more surprised if he DIDN'T say it,' lawyer Michael Loh, 41, told The New Paper. 'Because of his role as a mentor, I think MM's come to the stage where he's more willing to reveal painful and sensitive realities. Obviously, he feels Singaporeans can take the hard knocks.'Class consciousness, for example, has always been inherent among the Chinese, Mr Loh added.

A concern that could well worsen as the income gap grows wider.Mr Loh admitted he would be more comfortable living next to an educated, well-to-do Malay or Indian neighbour than one who 'just struck the jackpot and moved up... to a condo.' The initial question to Mr Lee, however, was centred on race.

With so much 'global strife' due to religious and ethnic differences, the president of Pennsylvania State University, Dr Graham Spanier, had earlier asked, how did Singapore succeed in 'embracing' so many different backgrounds?

Mr Lee's response: 'It's a very difficult ideal... and I'm not sure we've achieved it.''What we HAVE achieved is a certain accommodation. You will never get a completely fluid and fiction-free multi-racial society.'Sobering words, coming fr a man who has lived through and grappled with the country's ups and downs over the past 40 yrs.

Spore's colonial masters, the British, Mr Lee reminded his audience, 'had not catered for education' when we became independent in 1965. So in the early days, the different racial communities ended up building their own schools, dormitories and free hospitals.'We were like different kinds of fish in a pond with different degrees of salinity. The fish meet occasionally, but they're really more comfortable where they are, in their own eco-structure.

'That's why the Govt introduced a compulsory balloting system for HDB flats, he explained. So that Chinese, Malays, Indians and others will become one another's neighbours and their children will attend the same neighbourhood schools.'This was discomforting,' Mr Lee recalled, and there was some adjusting to be done on everyone's part.

'We have got as far as we have by persuasion... (But) it's not been completely successful, because the rate of inter-mingling and acceptance is faster among certain groups than in others.' He singled out the Malay community, saying they're 'centred around the mosque more than the other social centres that we've got'.'Not quite what we'd hoped for, but that's the end result. We live with that.'

Responding, former Nominated MP Zulkifli Baharudin, 45, told The New Paper he agrees that 'there's little harmony, but just co-existence'.'It's true that there's now greater religiosity among Malay-Muslims. My fear is this might lead to greater exclusiveness, at the expense of multi-culturalism,' he said.'As a Singaporean, I'd like to see us celebrate our diversity. I agree we're not there yet.'

My response
My very gung-ho lecturer once mentioned that Singapore had never really have racial acceptance. Yes, we may live in peace & harmony. But do we really have racial acceptance ? No, i think not. It's more racial TOLERANCE.

If we really 'accept' other races, we would not complain about the call from the mosques every Friday. Or give Indians or Malays names. I recall hearing a Chinese child pointing in the direction of the group of Indian mothers & calling them names. Then my friend asked the child how he learnt that namecalling. The child said:"My daddy said that wan." You see, such is the carelessness of the older generation.

If this continues, even racial jokes can be offending to one's race. Not that i mind making them (though cautious abt it...). If we really have racial acceptance in Singapore, racial jokes would not be an issue. We can just laugh it off heartily without any malice or grudges.

playing for peanuts?

Juz came back from my worship practice @ around 1+p.m. I was so hyper & frolicked around but everybody seem too tired... I was like talking nonsense. Haha ! I juz realised sumting. I dun feel the joy of playing in the team anymore.

Actualli my interest had been veering towards singing - a cappella style. Budak style = spontaneous + mixture of tunes. Hv my own gp, Beats & Pieces where i sing alto/sop2... Been humming to myself on the bus a few tunes but no chance to put on paper or Noteworthy. Been so bz wiv sch work dat i procrastinate working on my transcription. ML had to remind me on the 2 songs leh !! *blurgh

But my brain is too tired. Not even single drop of chicken essence or "ji jing" wld help. Yucks, i hate drinking dat stuff !! Anw, i planned to have my "music retreat" this coming Tues so as to work on the a cappella scores for ML. What can i do on the retreat? In 3 ez steps:

 1. listen to song umpteen times = play til cd burst into flames or PC crashes
 2. listen & repeat, listen & repeat the section
 3. put the "tau gay" on Noteworthy @ the same time

I kinda look fwd to Tues becos there's something special. I am finally meeting up wiv frens for dinner !! Yay x3 !! After sooo long !! :))

Manchurian-Han feast in S'pore?

My CG celebrated one of the member's bday by going for a nice Chinese tim sum buffet. We reached Roland's around 2p.m & onli had 1/2 hr to order as much as we want as the buffet ends @ 2.30p.m.

So we order 2 sets of every tim sum / dishes imaginable on the list of food. Aiyoh, it turned out 2b too much 4 us! We were like "struggling" to finish. The fish, toufu & frog legs alr had 2 styles of being cooked. The spread actually looked lovely like "man3 han4 quan2 xi2" or Manchurian-Han feast (as a feast fit 4 an emperor in ancient China)

I was so full that I literally ate a little of everything & not finish it. I din eat much of the frog legs which is super tiny (mus b Froggy's baby cousins...). We were like "psychoing" ourselves that we were not full & laughed away thruout the meal. I even said that I wouldn't have dinner.

But i did, after my Beats & Pieces practice. Took taupok rojak. So weird, without Henry, our gp sang & sound betta , haha!! We sang In Dulci Jubilo, Carols of the Bells & Last Christmas. Not too bad the practice !!

Visit to Fruit Farm on Sun 26 Jun 2005

Juz after we left the hotel, we (Esther, Jennifer, me, Boon Chin & Bernard) went up to the fruit farm juz about a few km away from the hotel. We were treated a sight of various fruit trees / bushes. The tour guide was a Malay lady who at most times spoke Bahasa Melayu which we "tak faham" . Luckily, a Malaysian Chinese guy beside us was friendly enuff to translate for us. The tour guide even explained that the fruits they grow were organic due to the government disallowing them to use pesticides & insecticides as well as to allow the bees that they rear to pollinate their flowers.

The tour guide explained that Jambu or otherwise known as rose apple can be grown all year round i.e non-seasonal. They are wrapped to prevent the insect from getting to them. The farm employs the use of marcotting & bark grafting. Though the fruit trees are short but the quantity & quality is better. The time taken to grow them is shorter thru these methods. She even said that there is R&D going on to develop fruit hybrids e.g mango tasting like durian etc...

Later we went to the fish pond which had a pretty big number of koi fishes which would "fight" for the fish food given by the visitors. RM$1 for a small pack of fish food! At the end of the sightseeing, we got our fruit platter. Hey, the fruits given to us were really GOOD & JUICY!! I bought a pack of fruits as well Veli nice & crunchy, wanna guess wat fruit is dat? :D Btw, I took photos too!

goin' bananas?

I must be goin bananas!

Desaru YAG retreat 24 to 26 Jun 2005

Well, I went to the YAG retreat (24 - 26 Jun 2005 , Fri -Sun) on car wiv Esther, Boon Chin, Regina & Jennifer on car. The retreat was realli different from the usual church retreat. It was super relaxing except for the tight schedule for the Free & Easy & meal times...

The 2nd day, we had team games such as Human scrabble, Captain's Ball (using water bombs intead of a real ball), Water puzzles (I had to dive to fetch those puzzle pieces in the pool!!), Catapult (where we had to make a catapult out of the materials given). Can u imagine all the team had names after Walt Disney characters? My team was named "Nemo", hahahaha!! :)

At nite, the whole YAG grp went to a seafood restaurant which is incidentally owned by one of my church's AV crew Priscilla's uncle and was even featured on Channel U's food variety show! The food is pretty decent but i enjoyed the fried lobsters the best. After dinner, i went with Esther to the provision opposite the restaurant & bought a pack of Tau Sar Piah & some chewing gum.

This is not the end. The Indian seller spoke to us in Chinese & managed to coax Esther & myself to buy 3 durians instead of 2. RM$5/kg. D24 sumore!! When the YAG gp went back to the hotel, the durian grp (we were so called becos not all bought durians.) had to move to the further end from the hotel but near the carpark to enjoy our durians.

Boy, the durians were really "zheng4 dian3" !! So rich & creamy with small seeds! A lot of "bak" too!! Esther & myself & some others couldn't finish our durians & had a lot of leftovers. There were some of us who had "extras" given to us despite us being unable to finish our own! Terrible leh!!

The last day, Boon Chin, Bernard, Esther, Jennifer & myself went to the fruit farm. Quite a good experience, i would say... The way back home was tiring for me on the ride becos i was realli irritated by Bernard by his incessant talking. Both Jennifer & i were pretty squashed up becos he (with him being BIG-sized!!) was lodged between us @ the back of the car. Can't even put our seatbelts properly!

Then we shopped at Carrefour which turned out to be a disappointment for me. It is indeed spacious but variety is lacking. So i didn't buy anything. Then we drove to have dinner on our way home juz b4 we reached JB checkpoint. Dinner was @ a street of roadside stalls and it was a simple affair. I was nauseous in the car the way home but luckily i got home safely without puking my insides out. Mus have ate too much lah...

The Giving Tree

Here's a story I have seen in my email man times but still touched by it... Even though i feel nauseous rite now, dunno y...

THE GIVING TREE

A long time ago, there was a huge apple tree. A little boy loved to come and play around it everyday. He climbed to the tree top, ate the apples and took a nap under the shadow. He loved the tree and the tree loved to play with him. Time went by. The little boy had grown up and he no longer played around the tree everyday.

One day, the boy came back to the tree and he looked sad."Come and play with me," the tree asked the boy."I am no longer a kid, I don't play around trees anymore." The boy replied, "I want toys. I need money to buy them.""Sorry, but I don't have money. But you can pick all my apples and sell them. So, you will have money."

The boy was so excited. He grabbed all the apples on the tree and left happily. The boy never came back after he picked the apples. The tree was sad.One day, the boy returned and the tree was so excited."Come and play with me" the tree said."I don't have time to play. I have to work for family. We need a house for shelter. Can you help me?""Sorry, but I don't have a house. But you can chop off my branches to build your house."

So the boy cut all the branches of the tree and left happily. The treewas glad to see him happy but the boy never came back since then. The tree was again lonely and sad.One hot summer day, the boy returned and the tree was delighted."Come and play with me!" the tree said. The boy said, "I am sad and getting old. I want to go sailing to relax myself. Can you give me a boat?""Use my trunk to build your boat. You can sail far away and be happy."

So the boy cut the tree trunk to make a boat. He went sailing and nevershowed up for a long time. Finally, the boy returned after he left for so many years."Sorry, my boy. But I don't have anything for you anymore. No more apples for you." the tree said."I don't have teeth to bite"

The boy replied."No more trunk for you to climb on""I am too old for that now" the boy said."I really can't give you anything. The only thing left is my dying roots." the tree said with tears."I don't need much now, just a place to rest. I am tired after all these years." the boy replied. "Good! Old tree roots are the best place to lean on and rest. Come, come sit down with me and rest."The boy sat down and the tree was glad and smiled with tears.

This is a story of everyone. The tree represents our parents. When wewere young, we loved to play with Mom and Dad. Now that we have grown up, we leave them, going back to them only when we need something or when we are in trouble. Yet, our forgiving parents are always there forus and will give everything they could to make us happy. You may think the boy is cruel to the tree, but that's how a lot of us are treating our parents.

Farewell, dreamz !!

Me, Peiling, Diana in Beats & Pieces (my a cappella gp)!

Ian took a pic of Diana, Isabelle & me juz b4 Sam's farewell bbq commences & after beats & pieces had our a cappella practice. Ayo, i look so 'auntie'!! haha... but i like my smile... so natural & relaxed & happy... Think this is my best pic eva despite me looking so disheveled ... :)

Though not so close to Sam but juz wanted to extend my best wishes to her for pursing her studies in Arts related studies. That was my dream too! I actualli never wanted to study Early Childhood but due to parental pressure & whole load of crap from them. My 1st choice was Arts management because of my love for music esp a cappella music & the Arts scene.

I recall due to the pressure of hating my studies that I finally plucked up the courage to tell my parents my true feelings abt the dumb course. That it was never my choice to choose that so-called noble course. And my 1st choice was Arts management.

Then while telling them, i started to break down... Frankly, it was a dread everyday to go to class. I felt like a zombie puppet pulled on strings to go there. I was then dealt a blow when i called up NAFA to ask abt the cert in Arts management. The course was cancelled due to low demand! So much for supporting local arts...

Even the PCK musical that I watched wiv my family + aunt & uncle on Sat was juz as bad! The musical juz couldn't pull in that 'musical factor' with that minimal props & thin storyline. I was groggy with my flu + sore throat & almost dozed off dur. the musical. Came down wiv fever after i reached home...

Certain scenes shown on a white screen were blocked by the stage props. The side I was sitting at couldn't see a thing despite leaning our heads forward to try to see what they were showing onscreen... the AV crew could have flashed on the 2 side screens as well so that all can view... realli spoil the market!

What realli spoiled the thing for me was Sheikh Haikel's rap & geomancy guru part. It seems more like an entertainment show than a musical when he started walking to the audience. No wonder sales had been so bad such that they had to sell the tics to the churches (i got the tics from my pastor uncle)...

Frankly, i was drawn to Xue Lang Hu (aka Snow Wolf Lake)... If i got $$ i will surely watch it...I once watched Miss Saigon & the Last Empress when it was shown here. That's what i call watching your $$'s worth.

BP on Jun 10 2005

Mmm... can't believe that i am back to heaving chairs up & down wiv Lis, steph, meI & tazy & several others. Juz when we were 'struggling' to get the chairs up the from the YMCA audi to the lobby then to the cargo lift, guess who appeared? Danny! We were like shocked + surprised becos... dun tell U!!

Managed to finish loading + cleaning + arranging chairs & tables @ blue Moo earlier than previously as commented by Eileen... Dats gurl power (mainly...) !!

4 d 2nd time, i had no appetite for dinner & skipped it (Lis too!!) I was feelin' sleepy @ 1st but after moving sooo much, i felt much more awake. We were so free for almost an hour or so when we saw KK with his newly dyed mane... Then Mike came along, followed by Gordon. Joe was the latest, probly held up by work.

ok, i am going to continue on...

They opened with a number, surprise, surprise! I Want It That Way by Backstreet Boys! It certainly surprised most of us.... Well, Skritch did that song in a rather rockish way! Mmm? wat am i talking abt? Back to Budak talk...

Wow, i was sooo touched when I heard Gordon singing lead in Wang Chun Feng [David's Tao's rendition = Hokkien 101 tinged wiv Chinese lyrics about women] (since he sing mostly the Chinese songs for Budak aniwae!!). Nice! Though the pronounciation is a bit shaky but still hearable. Still made me & bighamster veri HAPPY that we finally got to hear the dat song!

Another surprise is that Kah Keh finally sung Dindi. He is so funny because it was drizzling then and he started singing "rain rain go away" in the start of the song. Mike then inserted a comment about Stamford Raffles founded Singapore when KK sang dis line"... that no one believed..." *rolls eyes*

That's 2 songs that i wanted fulfilled! BP have 2 new songs: Leap & Lion King (medley with Lion Sleeps Tonite). The latter song arrangement was realli good!! Like it veri much. Leap is a realli good try as there's a slight difference in the genre (since Budak tunes seem 2b jazz-tinged mostly...)

The highlight of the nite: Joe's bday cake (Liselle & my version of the 'Choc on choc' cake). Hey, i stayed overnite @ Lis' hse aft baking the cake (my 2nd not-too-bad baking attempt!!)... I was so worried dat i would drop the cake. The froggy pic stik for the cake kept on swirling in the middle of the cake. Frankly, i was 'shivering' with fright inside me when i brought up the cake to Joe.

Joe mus hv bin really surprised. Thanx, Gordon for the comment "Any cake falling is killer litter." It melted my fright away & i was controlling my laughter. There were cheers aft Mike announced that it was Joe's birthday (actualli on 28 Jun) after a delay of speech. Haha!! Joe, u like the present? Now u won't be so lonely as u hv a new 'froggy fren' to accompany U!!

Actualli the whole thing was more of a relaxed feel as BP had more mid-tempo to slow numbers numbers mostly. They also seem tired. Esp Joe. Poor guys. Realli admire u all the more!! If i tire, i can't sing properly! Anw, at the end of the show, Lis' sis Josie took a pic of us (me + Joe + Lis) which is = our animal family (Lis, u noe wat izzit, rite, *winks)

me + Joe + Liselle!!

long juan feng of events...

Can't realli rmb the exact days but raffly this is wat happened...

Last week, I actualli got in to a "mood" to compose a tune so i sat down @ my borrowed keyboard (just located beside my pc) & tinked away... but now can't rmb d tunes (erk!!)
So i tried to figure out Qiu Ni Hui Lai & Guo Huo on the keyboard.

Well, the former was nearly played pretty well (i played it in D maj chord). Haha, bui yao bai, rite? The latter took me a long time to figure out... Wah! Bm chord leh!! Not exactly easy to figure out lor...

After dis 2 songs, i went on my pc to flash the chord + lyrics of U to me are everything & tested out the chords given in C maj chording. Abt 10% were wrong!! So i tinked away on my keyboard & changed the chording @ d same time, li4 hai4 bah? haha!!

Then on Sat, i went to my choir reh in Rm 22 in church. Sang till my throat felt so dry... all becos i hv 2 sing the nx day for 2 svcs!! The actual day was not so bad excpt dat the worship singers were all toned down dat we can't evn hear ourselves in the 2nd svc. The 1st svc was so solemn dat i had 2 resist groovin' to the fast songs dur worship.

It's a miracle dat i din doze off during a sermon by Rev James Chan from Kum Yan Methodist Church (the church dat Gordon & Danny attends...) becos i had 2b in church by 7.45a.m & alws hv 2 take cabby! Lost 2 more hrs of Zzzz, ok!! But the sermon wasn too bad as @ least certain parts spoke to me personally...

Den aft i went to the Papier shop @ d Esplanade to get some wrapping stuff. Aft reaching home & settling down, i watched Kindred Spirit with my mom & sis. Dur. dinner, i got dat satisfaction of seeing my Dad "suffer" not being able to clean up my family leftovers as he had to take medication to clean his colon in readiness for endoscopy on Mon. I kept digging @ him which caused him to grump evn more, haha!! so evil i am, hor? haha!!

Hk drama frenzy

The past 2 days i hv bin watching Date With A Vampire III & watched the serial till almost 2am. I woke up after 11+a.m ystd & 2day, 1+p.m! Today continue the vcd watching again. I realli need to finish watching it as i hv 2 return the 2 vols to my fren soon....

Now the story gets more & more interesting though the whole serial is quite draggy. I evn took a fancy to the super operatic-sounding theme song. I realli loved Date With A Vampire series!! My fave HK TV drama of all time!!

This show realli changed the outlook of Chinese vampires which used to look super horrible! They used to wear those ancient Chinese costume, wearing white face paint & super red rouged cheeks. They would jump about with 2 hands stretched out in front of them, void of feelings & expression.... so comical....

I juz realised dat i havn been blogging lately... dunno wat 2 write mah. So i am doing this juz b4 i gotta cheong for my nite class. Realli no life. Slack.

May 26, 2005

edgy!

Wat 2 say of this week? SIAN!! My classes are so slacked which almost lulled me to Zzzz... On Monday, me caught a cold aft i came back from a sleepover @ Joy + HJ's house. My nose ran away for almost 1/2 a day....

Fell asleep on bus 154 becos of the effects of the medication for runny nose so by the time i reached school, i was really groggy and stoned. No energy to even move.

My digestive system as well as appetite has been realli bad. Normally ppl wld feel hungry by 12 or 1 o'clock. I onli took lunch @ 3.30p.m & i wasn't even hungry lor! I din even take a proper dinner. Juz took some leftover mudpie (1/2 eaten by me) & not evn hungry. Really eat for the sake of eating.

I was listening to BP's version of "Singapore Town" (from 2000 National Day album). Very nice but harmony is on the weak side due all the instrumentation. Pity, pity, pity.... this song is not an a cappella piece becos the orchestration realli are so redundant ! The arrangers did a BAD job on the arrangement !

Frankly, "Singapore Town" would do better in a cappella style. With Kah Keh to kick off the bass & Danny to vocal perc in the intro, they definitely support Gordon as lead + Mike & Joe to harmonise in a better way. Without any instrument. That would be perfect harmony.

May 21, 2005

procrastination!

was listening to aka a cappella cd on my pc & ripping BP's song on mp3 to my mp3 player. Den i heard "Guo Huo".... wat surprised me is dat it was sung by BP as appeared on my WMA player artist info. Did they realli sing dat song?

Played the song a few times aft i downloaded to my mp3... seems 2 sound like them leh... but not too sure though..... ok, back to my procrastination.

i am sup 2 score their songs but i onli started a bit on S.A.E den stopped due to family problms. Now no inspiration to continue... i NEED INSPIRATION!!!! Wat can one welding onli grade 4 piano do? Soooo stressful!!

Y did i take it in the 1st place? Becos i want to do vocal arrangment + challenge myself musically? I feel mixed feelings now ~ 1/2 wan 2 do this, 1/2 d opp... How, lidat?

May 17, 2005

BP @ blue Moo on 10 Jun 2005?

Hahaha !! dunno how i cum up wiv up dis funny title? Each time i want to post BP's show @ blue Moo here, i gotta tink of wat title to put... running out of ideas...

Ok, finally can getta c Budak "chang4 ge1" @ blue Moo on 10 June !! Was puzzled wen i saw meI's post dat BP was performing on the 3rd but wasn confirmed mah... Ya noe, my fren chingching liked hearing BP dat she offers to bring more frens along !

Been listening to their songs + recordings on my mp3 becos i m trying 2b inspired 2 pen my own a cappella arrangement of Christmas songs for my aca gp. Got quite a few times i was "inspired" & came up wiv a few tunes in my head but now i forgot le...

My aca gp is currently preparing for caroling in the mid year !! Weird, rite? We're learning Maroon 5's "She will be loved" (Henry actualli wanted "This Love" but BP alr sang it liao !!) + "Last Christmas" (headed to the butcher by me) Mus b too influenced by BP, haha!!

May 06, 2005

recordings & talk...

Met up wiv Irene, my best bud from tpchoir. She became a fan of BP ever since last year concert that she went with me. Unfortunately, she's sad abt not being abl to go to blue Moo with me due to OT on Fridays...

Over dinner, Irene mentioned dat she played the Budakumentary cd to her 5-year old cousin who liked the song "Yi Bei Cha"... the 5-year old gal was laughing + loved Yi Bei Cha so much esp the interlude part where Joe sang "wei she me ke ren zhao ba..."

Irene said dats her cousin prob understood the song becos it's a familiar childhood tune. I even asked her what "Bukan Cinta Biasa" mean. She said dat Bukan is a rather sad love song and explained the meaning of d lyrics.

We went 2 d Esplanade waterfront and sat there to listen to the recording... she missed the March & Apr show so she was listening to my mp3 recording. She absolutely loved "One Way Ticket"!! And she was laughing while hearing this song again on my mp3... "All Rice" which she heard it for the 1st time, made her laugh even more... thruout the whole song leh!!

She tried to get the cds from shops but to no avail thus she regretted not buying it last year during the concert... oh... :0
