I Won Second Place!

My painting "Put Out to Pasture" got accepted into the Vermont Watercolor Societies SEABA Juried Awards Show. Last night I went to the opening night and...

I won SECOND PLACE out of the entire show!!!

I am so excited! My painting will be shown there through June 28th as well as the rest of the show, which is great! If you are from the area, you can go see it at the South End Arts & Business Association building at 404 Pine Street in Burlington, Vermont.

If the Shoe Fits

Here is my revamped "If the Shoe Fits" watercolor painting. I wasn't happy with the horseshoe before... I like it better now.

Indoor Fairy Garden

I know this is not stamping... but I just had to share my early Mother's Day gift to myself. I made an indoor Fairy mini garden to put next to my painting/craft table! It is so cute! I put it in a bird cage house sort of thing with plastic in the bottom. In the photos I have the front lifted up, but it does close down so my cat won't dig everything up!

It's not totally finished yet, but I was too excited to share photos to wait. It will also have a little wooden door for the mushroom house, a stone path and a fence. I will post again once I have those added.

Hopefully some fairies will stop by soon!

Make-n-Takes & Shares

 This was one of our GMS meeting make-n-takes that my 7 year old Ashley came and made all on her own! This was the first meeting she came to with me and she is hooked! A definite future SU Demo!

 Here is the card my mother did for our group to stamp at my card class! I love this little dog!

A great meeting again ladies! I was happy to finally make one again!

These are only some of the cards from the meeting.

I think this was my favorite for great creativity! The lines and little squiggles are drawn on by hand with a marker after the flowers are stamped. Adds such a nice simple background!

Ashley's Swaps!

 Here are the cards that my seven year old daughter Ashley made! 

I have to say, she's pretty good! I let her use my punches and paper and then she showed them to me when she was done. I did not help at all! She did not look at any of my cards or punch art to make these, just did them out of her head! I am a proud Mama!

Diabetes Event is a Huge Success!

 Our Downhill for Diabetes Ski and Snowboard Charity Event

was a HUGE success this year!

We have raised over $19,500 so far and still going!!

Our goal this year is to hit $20,000!

The Donations for Diabetes website is updated with all event merchandise.

There are black and white long sleeved shirts as well as large grocery bags, fleece ear bands and raffle tickets. 

The raffle has over $1000 in prizes to win!

Help us reach $20,000 and get closer to that cure, we are almost there!

Downhill for Diabetes 2013

The Third Annual
Downhill for Diabetes Charity ski and snowboard event
will be on
Sunday February 24th, 2013
at Pico Mountain Resort in Killington, Vermont.
Participants will raise money to ski or snowboard, similar to a donation walk, just Vermont style! You can donate the money yourself, have a business sponsor you, or collect donations from family, friends and co-workers.

If you don't ski or snowboard you can still register and donate on the site to win great prizes and merchandise!

The purpose of this event is to raise money to continue funding research and ultimately come up with a cure for diabetes! For those of you who don't know, my seven year old daughter, Ashley, is a Type 1 Diabetic. We need to find a cure for this disease so Ashley, and others like her, don't have to live with this every day of their lives.
One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event will be donated to diabetes research.
I am hoping that you will be able to help us with this effort!

"First Friday" night

American Girl Doll Shoes

Here are the American Girl Doll shoes that Ashley and I made today.
The soles are sticky-back foam and we used SU ribbon and brads to make the decorations on them. They came out so cute!
A girl has to have options with shoes, right?!

Snowman Ornaments

 Here are the ornaments that the kids and I made for the teachers and staff at the school this year. 

We got plastic empty ornaments, stuffed them with cotton balls, then put felt cheeks and noses on them. The earmuffs are pipe cleaners and pom-poms and the eyes and mouth are permanent marker. They came out so cute!

 We put them in little plastic paint buckets with cotton balls on the bottom.

A New Beginning

I am so excited! 
My watercolor painting was selected to be featured in the 2013 Cheap Joe's art store reference catalog!! This is the huge catalog that they send out to every customer and is the main catalog for the entire year! The painting that was selected is "A New Beginning". I did this one as a gift for the nurse at my daughter's school who takes care of her diabetes stuff.

Snowman Snow Angel Punch Art Card

I have finally done a card all on my own again!!

Thanks for waiting for me to come back everyone! Here is my Snowman Snow Angel Punch Art Card. It is a 5-1/2" square card.

I used the 1-1/4", 1" and 3/4" circle punches for the snowman body and angel impression. I cut the angel wings out by hand. I punched this out of Very Vanilla card stock. All of the other pieces are Whisper White.

I used the snowflake punch for the arms of the real snowman and the same circle punches..

 I used Connie Collins' tutorial to make the paper bow. I did change it a bit and make the second bottom layer and added some pearls. You can find that tutorial here: http://www.stampinconnection.com/video/how-to-make-paper-faux-bows-with-stampin-up-punches-mp4

 I used the Owl punch for the snowballs and the Just Believe stamp set for the sentiment.

I love Fall!

Halloween Costume

My five year old son Timothy is going to be a football player for Halloween this year. I could not find a costume football helmet anywhere so I decided to make one. I got a knight helmet at the dollar store and with an exacto knife and some duct tape transformed it into this helmet! Tim's team colors are gold and blue and he will wear his flag football jersey. 

I will post picture once he puts the entire thing on!
