I taught elementary school in Canajoharie, NY for many years. Back then Canajoharie was the home of the Beech Nut Company which manufactured baby food, candy and gum....and yes there was often a sweet smell in the air! As I put this card together I thought of the commercial for a striped chewing gum they made. Fruit Stripe gum came in many flavors and of course had bright stripes! The commercial started with the words "Yipes Stripes! Beech Nut's got 'em!" Ancient history now....the candy part of the company was sold and the baby food division built a brand new plant down the road....but fun memories for sure....
A very CAS card for you today so you can check out four of the five new in-colors that will be available from Stampin' Up! when the new annual catalog goes live next month. The card base and the tabletop are both Tahitian Tide - a glorious tropical blue! The berries are Sweet Sorbet - a sweet red for sure. Parakeet Party tops the berries and you can easily compare it with the Granny Apple Green on the watermelon rind. The sentiment is done in a new wonderful purple called Orchid Oasis. The only new color I didn't use is Starry Sky because it is the color of a deep deep blue night sky......and this is a daytime picnic!
No picnics here yet - you can see snow falling outside my craft room window! Sure hope that was our last wintry storm. Power lines and tree branches down everywhere because the snow was so wet and heavy - I prefer the light fluffy kind!
Kim's sketch is wide open - let your creativity shine! Hope you join us at Freshly Made Sketches!

This stamp set and DSP are among my all time favorites - inspired by tulip season in Holland! So beautiful! My dad's family came to America from Holland waaaay back in the 1920's. He was born here the year after his parents and brothers and sisters arrived and grew up in Amsterdam, NY....of course!
My mother and her family came here from England so I always thought I was half Dutch and half English. But in this era of DNA testing I have learned it doesn't always work like that. My daughter gave me one of those DNA testing kits last year for my birthday. I finally sent it in and recently got the results. I didn't sign up for any of the extra stuff like find relatives or medical issues - I just wanted nationalities.....
17% Scandinavian (Perhaps due to Viking raids way back when?!?)
41% British (But definitely not a Blueblood !)
42% Dutch (And somewhere up there my dad is smiling....)

Meanwhile we have been busy welcoming a new member of the family. Meet Junior.......he is a big guy but a softie at heart! Miss Emma and Junior have been working hard getting to know each other this month.
Looks like they are a good match and he will be celebrating his next birthday with Emma!
