September Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop

One of our Global Scrapbook designers, Sharon Dalton chose our theme for September. She chose "Anything Goes".  I can use any theme or technique I choose. I had just sorted a stack of pictures and chose the fall ones to do my pages with this month. The leaves are starting to fall so I guess I'm leaning into fall. It's strange to think that our scrapbooking friends in Australia are welcoming Spring! 

I decided to use the Season of Green and Gold DSP, not a fall DSP.  It isn't really even fall colors bit is so beautiful with gold foil in the designs on one side. As beautiful as the foil makes the design, I chose mostly unfoiled papers! I started off with a Crushed Curry base and layered 3 strips of the DSP across it. The photo mats, title and leaves are from Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Crushed Curry and Garden Green.

There is a new stamp and die set called Autumn Leaves that I wanted to use to embellish the pages. It also has a couple of label dies, one that was perfect to mount the letters of my title on. 

I wanted to make the die cut leaves stand out so I embossed the stamped design in gold. It just didn't look right to me. I die cut a new set of leaves and stamped them with the same color ink pad as the cardstock for each kind of leaf. I ran the Versa Mark ink pad around the outside of each leaf and embossed it with gold embossing powder. I liked that look much better. I cut the veins from gold foil cardstock to make them extra blingy. After I decided that the copper foil looked better on some of the colors I thought I should have used copper embossing powder on those leaves but it really looks OK with the gold so I didn't redo them. 

I had a lot of photos to go on this layout so I practically filled the second page with the pictures of my yard during fall. The die set has some small leaves too so I scattered them around.

The first picture is of my husband and I at a Halloween party, the second, in the yard burning the brush pile. The bottom 2 pictures are of our granddaughter helping us rake leaves. With as many trees as we have, there are LOTS of leaves to be raked every fall!

Stampin' Up Fun Day

I went to a Stampin' Up event last Saturday and it was so fun! I got to see some friends I don't get to see often and meet some new friends. There were several speakers who shared some great business ideas and we made a fun make-n-take Christmas ornament that will be released in kits of 9 ornaments tomorrow! But I think my favorite part was swapping.

They said to plan on 40 cards. I got some great cards and have already used a couple of them as inspiration for a class I'm teaching in Hopkinsville on October 5th. Here are my swap cards, I made 2 different designs so people had to choose. 

We are supposed to include the "recipe" for our card so I thought I'd include them in the pictures so you can see what I used. Most of the products are from the new mini catalog that will be released tomorrow, Sept 4. I love that catalog!  There is also an online Halloween/Fall catalog being released tomorrow. 

Also, there was a name tag contest. Mine didn't win but I had fun making a name tag that reflected who I am. I love being a country girl!

Preorder for the Sept/Dec 2024 Mini Catalog

The new mini catalog will go live the beginning of September! It's always exciting to see a new catalog and this one us FABULOUS!  I had trouble keeping my pre-order in check because I loved so many things that are in it. I was sick when my box came so I couldn't actually make anything but it gave a lift to my day to look at all of it and see all that beautiful paper. 😊

Before I started feeling all the way better I just had to try to stamp something so I got the box out and picked out the Shepherds Care set. It was telling me to try this design. It looked a lot better in my head but I still like the way it turned out. It took a while in 3 or 4 sessions of stamping because I just couldn't sit up for more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time. 

I embossed the big star and the little dots from the stamp set in clear embossing powder. White would work as well. After embossing everything I stamped the shepherd and then I sponged Misty Moonlight across the top and Mellow Moss across the bottom with blending brushes. I think I'll add some Wink of Stella here and there to give the card some sparkle.

The Peace on Earth sentiment is die cut with a new die set called Christmas Labels. It has a matching stamp set too. There are 4 dies in this set and they are all this type of fancy label. I love them, I know I'll be using them a lot!

I'm so glad to be feeling better and hope I can stamp a lot more. But first I have garden produce that needs to be canned! It was so good to be able to get back out in my garden. 

Scrapbooking Global blog Hop - Combo Layout with Pocket Page

Welcome to the July 2024 Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop!  

Our theme of Combo Layout With A Pocket Page was chosen be Kate Gardiner.

There are so many reasons to include a  pocket on your page and so many ways to add a pocket.  I added a 3-tier pocket to this page because I took over 40 pictures at this interesting place.  I have 5 photos in each pocket so with the 7 photos on the page I have almost half of the  photos here.  I'll do another layout with more pockets for the remaining photos.

The layout really didn't photograph well.  There are so many little buildings in so many pictures!  I pulled out that beautiful Peach Pie DSP from the Unbounded Beauty paper pack for this one.  I also used the dies from the Unbounded Love die set.  With so many photos I didn't need  much embellishments, just a few Blooming Pearls on each page.

Here is the pocket I designed for my 3-tier pocket. It measures 13 1/2x 8 1/2 so obviously you will need to piece one of the panels in to make it wide enough. I made the pockets 4 1/2" wide so the 4" wide photos would fit in them. There isn't a lot of wiggle room so you will need to use a very thin line of glue to hold the edges.  Or make each panel a bit more than 4 1/2" wide.

Here are 2 pictures of just the pocket. One is without anything in the pockets so you can better tell how it is made. 

I couldn't decide which color to make the title but I remembered I had 2 pictures taken from slightly different angles so I cut the letters with the Alphabet a La Mode dies from the extra photo. It blends in with the photos nicely, I think.

Use Your Scraps

 

I'm excited to be the guest designer for this month's Scrapbooking Global - Stampin' Up Blog Hop!

I thought of many things for a theme but decided that I have soooooooo many scraps that I would chose that as my theme. I hate to throw away scraps so they build up into boxes full of scraps! Sometimes I donate them to schools and kid's groups who can use them. But mostly they sit around taking up space. 😊

This month's layout features paper and dies from last month's layout.  I also did a shoebox swap last  month that used the paper so I had lots of scraps.  I put them together for a scrappy scrapbook layout!  

This is the card I made for the shoebox swap. I love the Country Woods Designer Series Paper and the Unbounded Love dies!  So I used them again this month.

I started with a base of one of the Designer Papers from the Unbounded Love paper.  Then I layered a bunch of scraps from the Country Woods DSP over it.  

I cut out bunches of the leaves and flowers out of matching scraps of cardstocks and made several little flower arrangements with them.  I placed a cutout of little floral bouquets I cut from one of the Unbounded Love DSP.

The title is cut with the Alphabet A' la Mode dies and embellished with 3 of the Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots.

My 3 Favorite Colors

This month the blog hop challenge is to make a layout with your 3 favorite Stampin' Up colors. No easy task to decide! The challenge was chosen by a guest designer, Alison Carter.

I love so many of our beautiful colors!  I finally decided to choose a color from each color family and one from all of the In Colors and then narrow that down to 3. Green has long been my favorite color so Granny Apple Green was one of my choices. And I was so excited about Pretty In Pink coming back that I chose that from the InColors. Misty Moonlight, Lost Lagoon and Pretty Peacock rounded out the 5 choices.

I kept thinking about this stripped paper in the Country Woods DSP though. I really wanted to use it but the only color in my stack that matched it was the Misty Moonlight. I could easily switch Pretty In Pink to Petal Pink and Lost Lagoon to Pool Party though. 

I ended up only using a 2 1/4" strip of that amazing DSP across the bottom of my pages but I think it is a great touch to the layout.  I used another sheet of a wood print that is Misty Moonlight and bordered the entire page with a 12X12 sheet of Misty Moonlight cardstock.  Of course, I cut out the middle of the cardstock to use as photo mats, I couldn't waste that much paper!

I had recently ordered the Unbounded Love dies and stamp set.  The dies are mostly labels but there are also these great leaves and flowers so I cut them out and scattered them across the bottom borders of the pages.  

There is a great piece of DSP that has a Pool Party sanded off look to it.  My page kept telling me it needed a bit of that paper on it.  (Do your pages tell you things too?)  After cutting the title I knew where the paper needed to be.

The pictures are of our oldest daughter when we lived in San Antonio, Texas. They sure bring back memories!

Scrapbooking Global Sketch Challenge

Happy Spring!  (if you are in the Northern hemisphere anyway)  This month our blog hop will be inspired by a sketch.  I love using sketches to help create my layouts.  That means I have to think a little less, which is always a good thing!

Our sketch was chosen by a guest designer, Margaret.  I love the versatility of this sketch!  It was pretty easy to make my photos fit the sketch.

This is the layout I made with the sketch.  Of course, I didn't get it finished until dark and the color doesn't film well without the natural light coming in the windows.  You can barely see the stamped borders of branches from the Perched In  A Tree stamp set, along with the little dots from another stamp in that set that I used to add a little texture to the layout.  The DSP is the beautiful Countryside Inn paper.  For fun I used 2 alphabet sets, the Mini Alphabet dies an the Alphabet A La Mode dies.  As always, I feel like it needs something more but I just haven't figured that out yet.  If you have an idea, please post it in the comments so I can try it!

March Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop

Welcome to the March edition of our scrapbooking blog hop.  Thank you so much for stopping by my blog.  I hope you will enjoy my layout.

Our blog hop theme this month was chosen by a guest designer, Lisa Stucker. She chose the theme, Celebrating Hobbies. 

When I saw the theme I knew exactly what my layout needed to be about!  My favorite hobby, the one I spend the most time doing and enjoy the most is hands down, scrapbooking!  I also enjoy gardening and sewing and lots of other things.  I'm working on a layout with the pumpkins I grew last year.  Maybe I'll get it finished now that I have the pictures printed.

I looked at the pictures I have of my stamping and scrapbooking adventures and knew I wanted green and blue to be in the paper.  I looked through all my current papers and couldn't find just the right thing.  I decided I would have to make my own DSP!  As I was working on the February Paper Pumpkin kit I decided to use some of the parts on my layout because the green was just right.  Then I looked at the stamps that came with the kit - my very favorite flower, the buttercup (also known as the daffodil) was one of the stamps!  How fun, I turned it into the background paper by stamping them all over white cardstock then coloring them with the Stampin' Blends.

Here is a picture of the "bones" of my layout.  Whenever I cover up most of the base of my layouts I cut the inside of it out and have an inch wide 12" frame.  I layered this onto a piece of discontinued Sahara Sand cardstock.  Since you won't see this piece it doesn't really matter what color it is.  I also used some of the card pieces from the Feb Paper Pumpkin kit, I even cut the cute gingham from some of the envelopes!  I don't know why the green in the little pieces on the lower right loo so washed out.  It's actually the same color green as the gingham. 

After I stamped and colored the buttercups (notice in my "bones" picture I didn't color the flowers under the pictures.  As much as I could use the practice in coloring with the blends I decided to save ink and time and just color the ones that could be seen.  After I got them colored I decided there needed to be a touch of blue so I got the speckled background stamp from the Perched in a Tree stamp set and stamped between the bunches of buttercups.  It was just the touch my homemade DSP needed!

After getting everything placed for the background of my layout I added pictures of scrapbook crops and stamping events.  I added simple journaling by printing on die labels cut with one of the Labels Aglow dies and popped them up on each picture with dimentionals. I tried different colors for the title with the fun Alphabet A la mode dies and the Mini Alphabet dies and decided on Daffodil Delight.  The layout looked like it needed something on the green gingham at the bottom.  I decided to sleep on it but hadn't come up with the perfect thing until I decided to work on the cards left in the Feb kit after I raided all those pieces.  Then I saw all the buttercup punch outs that were supposed to be on one set of the cards.  I think there were 5 for each card so I used 2 instead so I could have the rest to add the finishing touch to the layout.  Perfect!

Are you wondering how I managed to make cards with the 1 leftover card base I
had left for what was to be 3 cards.  It was supposed to be a smaller sized card and the envelopes with the green gingham matched the size.   I cut the card in half and used the insides of one of the envelopes for the background of the 3rd card.  I made them all to be a standard size card and they will all have to have a boring white envelope.  I'll have to get that buttercup stamp back out and stamp on the envelopes, won't I!

Men In Your Life January Blog Hop

It's 2024! I can't believe that January is more than half over already! We got our first snowfall of the winter Sunday and Monday, 3 inches of snow. We are expecting another inch of snow tomorrow. And it has been so COLD! I'm not a fan of winter, I get cold so easily. 

 Days like these have been perfect weather to scrapbook though!  Any excuse, right?

Tina Parsons picked out theme for this month, Men In Your Life. I've been needing to do these pages since 2019 so I appreciate the motivation.

I ordered this Trusty Toolbox DSP as a free Sale A Bration gift. It is perfect for my layout. I used a Very Vanilla 12x12 base and a little Lost Lagoon for the top of the page where I put my title and journaling. The ruler paper made a nice touch at the top and I cut some of the tools out and raised them on Stampin' Dimentionals to give them emphasis.

You really need a pack of this paper, don't you?
