CottageCutz June Hop

Hello friends.  So happy to have you hopping with us!  If you have arrived here from the very talented Cindy Haffner's blog, you are in the right place.  If not you will want to start at the beginning of the hop, The Scrapping Cottage blog, so you don't miss out on any of the fun and inspiration.

I have a couple of cards to share with you, showcasing the CottageCutz Spring Vine Wreath.  The design of the cards is very similar except for the placement of the flowers on the wreath.  I cut the wreath from white cardstock and colored with copics.  The flowers were cut from patterned paper, layered, and had bling or brads added for the flower centers.  I also used some sprigs of greenery from the CottageCutz Greenery die.  Brads, buttons, and bows finish the cards off nicely.

Thanks so much for hopping with us.  Your next stop is the very talented Carol.
Please be sure and comment on each blog for a chance to win a gift certificate at the CottageCutz store.  They make the cutest, high quality dies.  I just received the dies I purchased from the Baby Release and can't wait to play with them.  They are super cute!

Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 161

Hello friends!  I am entering this card into the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 161.  They are having a design team call.  I just found out about it on someone elses blog, so I thought I would give it a try.  The deadline for submissions is tomorrow. Here is the sketch.

Here is my card.

Inside.

I used My Favorite Things, Pure Innocence Skater Boy.  I used some scraps to paper piece the boy.  The red gingham background paper is Simple Stories, Summer Fresh.  I colored the image with Copics and sponged the sky with Memento Summer Sky ink.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Janice

Springtime Window Die

Good Morning!  I hope you are all having a wonderful week.  It is raining here today in Massachusetts.  I sure hope the rains have stopped in Florida.  My heart goes out to those who are suffering.  Praying for brighter, calmer days.

Today I have a couple of cards to share with you along with a mini picture tutorial.

I have really been enjoying the look of all white, or almost all white cards.  Awhile back I said I wanted to use the CottageCutz Springtime Window die to make an all white card, so here is what I came up with.

First cut the window from white cardstock.  Glue the curtains to the window frame.  Place the window onto the card where you would like it to be.  Do not glue it down at this point.  Trace the inside of the window and cut out using an exacto knife or detail scissors.  You will want to cut on the outside of the pencil line, so when you glue the window in place the kraft cardstock does not show along the window edge.

I glued the window frame in place and then realized I missed a step.  I forgot the white background, so I just completed the card without it.  I think it looks nice either way.  I like it when mistakes have pleasant results.  You may choose to leave the window open or place some patterned paper behind it.  I chose to use the paper.  I hope you like the project I shared with you today.  If you have any questions, please ask in the comments.  Enjoy your day!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge #23

Hello Peachy friends.  Here is my card for challenge 23, Anything goes.  I used PK-115 Let's Ketchup.  I stamped the ketchup and mustard splats with Memento Lady Bug and Dandelion inks, then colored them with Copics.  Stamped the ketchup and mustard and colored those as well.  I distressed the edges with the dandelion ink.  Stamped the sentiment, layered the card, and finished with a gingham bow.

As always, thank you so much for stopping by and I hope you come back soon!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Craft-a-lot Unity Challenge 2

Hello friends!  Here is a card I made for the Craft-a-lot Unity Challenge #2.  If you have any Unity stamps you should enter.  You might win!  I am the 3rd participant, so odds of winning are good.  You have just a short amount of time.  You can check out all the details here.  The challenge is to use a Unity stamp and embossing.  I used Ippity Itty Bitty Live Half Full stamp.  I think this is the perfect stamp for refreshing summer drinks.
I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder for the citrus border.  I lightly sanded the embossing and added a little Memento Tangelo ink.  I colored the drink with Copics.  I used a Tim Holtz Picket Fence Distress Marker on the ice cubes.  It is a white pigment marker.  Very subtle, but shows up a little.  I cut a small rectangle and embossed the corner with the citrus embossing folder.   The sentiment was stamped with the Memento Tangelo ink.  I finished the card with striped grosgrain pumpkin pie ribbon by Stampin Up.  Thanks for visiting!

I am also entering this into the June Unity Challenge.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge 22

Hello friends!  Here is my card for the Peachy Challenge 22.  I used PK-120 Home Tweet Home.  I paper pieced the images with Authentique-Carefree collection.  I love to paper piece.  It gives a totally different look to the images.  I think it gives them a lot of character.

Here is the sketch.

Here is my card.  I hope you like it.  I sure had fun making it!

Cool Drinks

Hello friends!  Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there!  Today's card features some older dies.  With the warmer weather I wanted to create a summer card.  So I chose CottageCutz Love Tags for the tray.  I used CottageCutz Happy Hour for the drinks.  I apologize that I don't have a link for that die.  There is a similar die called Tropical Drink that you can see by clicking here.

The images were colored with Copics and the glasses have glossy accents on them though not able to see in the photo.  I added glitter to rim the glasses.  Hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Kit of the Month Unity Sketch Challenge

Hello again.  Here is a card I am entering into the Unity Sketch Challenge.  I used the June 2009 kit, Perfect in every way, because it had some great cherry stamps that I wanted to use.  Many of you know I am crazy for cherries!  I colored the images with Copics and added a touch of glitter to the cherries and to the ice cream cone.  The paper is from SU.

There is still lots of time to play along for a chance to win an awesome prize.

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Challenge 21 You've Been Framed

Hello everyone!  Here is my project for the Peachy Keen Challenge, You've been framed.  I used the adorable ballerina fairy from the June Stamp Club.  I used Teresa Collins Spring Fling line to paper piece her and embellish the frame.  I love the June stamp kit.  If you are not a member, you should check it out.

Thanks for stopping by.

Peachy Keen June Release Challenge 2

Hi again!  Wow 3 cards in one day!  I think that's a first.  Here is my card for the Peachy Keen June Release Challenge 2.  The only requirement was to use a PK stamp with wings.  Though hard to see, that sleeping bee has wings that I highlighted with stickles.  I did paper piecing for this card as well, and added some shading with my Copics.  This stamp is also from the Hillbilly Holler line set 2.

Thanks for stopping by again!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

Peachy Keen June Release Challenge #1

Here is my card for the Peachy Keen June Release challenge #1.  I used the Hillbilly Holler turtle from set 3.  I think he is cute.  For this challenge you are to use paper piecing, ribbon or twine, and some bling.

You have until Sunday to enter the challenge if you would like.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

All White Card

Hi friends!  I love the look of all white cards so I am sharing one with you today, with the exception of the base of the card.  I used CottageCutz Tropical Trio and CottageCutz Greenery dies to create my card.

The greenery die cuts are 2 layers thick, so they would show up better.  Then I added layered flowers and some bling for the flower centers.  I finished the card with an organza polka dot bow.  I hope you like this very simple, quick, and pretty card.  You could do this all white technique with any of the dies.  Try it out and see what you think.  I have been wanting to try it with the Window Die.  Maybe I will do that soon.  Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge Card #4

Hello friends!  Here is one final entry for the MFT Guest spot sketch challenge.  The image I used is Pure Innocence, Blowing Bubbles.   I used Stella Rose, Gertie to paper piece her outfit and Copics to color her.  I used the Die-namics Notebook Edge die behind the sentiment.  I used the negative part of the die cut because I felt it went with the bubble theme quite nicely.   For the embellishment I cut 2 acrylic and 2 gingham circles.  I stamped the word POP on the smaller circle and glued the acrylic circle over that with Glossy Accents, again to mimic the bubbles.  The finished card is 6"x6".

Thanks for having a look!

Hugs and smiles,
Janice
