Happy Independence day ...Mexico!

Hello Dear Stamper Friends:

Today México is celebrating its Independence day!

Feliz día de la Independencia!

I posted this card at the Spanish blog for Memory Box: "A crear se Dijo!"

I wanted to commemorate this day, since México is part my country too, as I lived almost all my adolescence life there...so, for me México has a very special place in my heart ...

I remember very well going with my family to the "Zócalo", [which is the main plaza of Mexico city where you can see the cathedral, main official buildings and specially the "presidential palace" and where it has being the  gathering place for Mexicans since Aztec times], to see the huge celebration that it is held today at midnight in this plaza...

Throughout the whole month of September, there are lots of festivities there and the cities are all decorated with the colors of the flag: green, white and red, (the colors of my card)  and with the faces of the heroes that freed Mexico from the Spaniard rulers...

For this occasion, on the 15th of September, at midnight,  The president greets the crowd from his balcony and "plays " the bells that once were played by the heroes to call all the citizens for battle and then he does  the "GRITO" which is the call for the independence...

The current President: MR. Peña Nieto  with its family on his side will be greeting everybody from the balcony of the presidential palace tonight, he will be calling the names of the heroes and at the end he will shout 3 times, which is called as "El Grito":  "VIVA MEXICO!" ...and fireworks start...
if you are in the States you can see this on the Hispanic channel through Univision

or see this Video from last year!

This is a VERY impressive experience to see and live as this plaza/square is one of the city largest in the WORLD! it can hold thousands and thousands of people, so shouting along the president "EL GRITO" it gives me goosebumps...!! I watch this celebration now here in California on TV and it is always as exciting as I remember!
so VIVA MEXICO!
