SOG Challenge: Inspiration

Hi all,
Welcome to another fun and exciting challenge from Some Odd Girl!  The last challenge was a bling challenge, and wow, what entries we had!
For this fortnight, we were given a picture to use as inspiration - these are always fun!  Take a look at the pic:

OK, so many ideas, right?  If you were smart enough to get your hands on any of the 3 clear stamps released as part of the birthday celebration, they are PERFECT for this challenge!

Here's mine:

I mainly used the colours this time - I didn't include any cupcakes, but if you want to, you definitely should!  And sprinkles too!
My card base is Bermuda Bay CS.  All of my patterned papers are from the My Mind's Eye Lime Twist collection called Out of the Blue, and my mats are black.  The strip across the middle was punched with the EK Success Fleur de Lis edge punch, and I added some Bermuda Bay polka dot ribbon around that.
I also added Martha Stewart pearls to the visible corners, and I stamped the sentiment (which comes with the image) onto the patterned paper.

I stamped Cupcake Mae onto Bella's Bestest Paper using Memeto Tuxedo Black ink.  I coloured her with Copics, and her dress was paper pieced using the same patterned paper.
I cut her out with a thin white border around and mounted her on with foam dots.

You should definitely play along with this one - link your card up over on the Some Odd Girl blog, so we can see it and oooh and aaaah!

Tomorrow morning I will be leaving bright and early for a week in the Big Apple - yes, that's right, New York, here I come!  So, I'll be scheduling next week's posts ahead of time (hopefully, if all goes well).  Wish me luck y'all!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Happy 2nd Birthday Some Odd Girl!

Hi all,

Welcome to another fun post for this week with Some Odd Girl!  We had an amazing blog hop on Monday and Tuesday, and yesterday we found out the hop winner, and Kristy released some brand new clear stamps into the store, which were very Hush Hush!

Today to celebrate the 2nd birthday, the DT are showing you cards made with the brand new release!  Once again, these are clear stamps, not digi images.  I love getting these in the mail!!!

Here we go:

I am showing you Birthday Mae - she is so sweet, and you can find her in the store NOW!

My card base is More Mustard CS.  On top of that, I stamped Birthday Mae onto a large panel of Bella's Bestest Paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I coloured her in with Copics, and added some shading with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS.  I also added lots of glitter spots all around her.

I sponged around the panel with Wheat Versamagic ink, and matted it with black CS.

On the right side, I added a pice of patterned paper from the My Mind's Eye Lime Twist collection called Out of the Blue, matted with black CS.  I rounded 2 of the opposing corners with my punch as well.
On top of that, I used another piece of Bella's Bestest to stamp the accessory candles (that come with the image!), and coloured them with Copics and Prisma's, same as Mae.  I stamped the sentiment directly under that, which also comes with the image, and matted that whole piece onto More Mustard CS, and mounted them on with foam dots.

I hope you are enjoying birthday week with us - we have a really fun customer showcase tomorrow, so I hope you can come back and visit.
Don't forget to stop by the SOG blog for all the fun!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Wish BIG

Hi all,
Happy Monday! {detect sarcasm}
OK, so it's a brand new week - what are your plans??? This week, I would love to catch up on some of my crafting...and I suppose my laundry could use a glance as well. Hmph

I did get to create a fun birthday card though, so here it is:

My card base is Sahara Sand CS, the patterned papers are from SU's pack called Raspberry Tart, and the mats are black.  For the strip across the middle, I punched the black piece with my Martha Stewart lattice edge punch, and I also added Martha Stewart pink pearls to the corners.

I stamped my favourite Bella (AllBoxedUpABella) onto Bella's Bestest Paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with Copics.  I added some shading with my Prismacolor Pencils and OMS, and I paper pieced the front present with some of the same DSP.
I stamped the sentiment Wish BIG on the left side with black ink and added some sponging around the panel with some ColorBox Chalk ink in Bisque.

Make sure you all take some time this week to do some stamping or something else that you enjoy!

Also, Bellarific Friday is starting up again this week.  So, your project is due to Emily by Thursday night, in order to be entered for the Friday Bella Bucks!  You can see all the details on the post immediately below this one (scroll down).  :-)
There is an extra chance to win some Bella Bucks over on the revived Stamping Bella Forum on SCS as well.  Check it out!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Celebrate With a Lulu Cake

Hi all,

I feel like it's been a while since I played with my Lulu images from Stamping Bella - so it's high time I got one out!
I truly do love these images - they are one of the lines that Emily has where I "NEEDED" them all when they came out.

Here it is:

My card base is Kraft CS, and that gorgeous fuzzy patterned paper is from Heidi Grace Designs called Paradise Point/Flourish (it is shimmered and flocked)!  I matted that with black and added some pink Martha Stewart pearls to the corners.  Across that, I tied some black grosgrain ribbon into a knot.
The sentiment is Celebrate from Stamping Bella, and that was stamped onto white CS, and cut out with my SU Curly Label Punch.  I adhered that underneath a Pretty In Pink square matted with a white square.

I stamped Lulu's Birthday Cake onto Bella's Bestest Paper using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I coloured it mostly with Copics, and added some shading with Prismacolor Pencils and OMS.  I also added some White Liquid Pearls to the centres of the flowers, and I added glitter spots all around the cake.
I cut it out with Classic Square Nesties, and added a Scallop square black mat. I also added some Wheat Versamagic ink sponging inside the stencil, around the cake.

Don't forget about our holiday Bellarific Friday challenge for this week - you still have until Thursday night to submit your card!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Monstah Birthday

Hi all,

Happy Monday! (OK, that was a little sarcastic,as I have dark bags under my eyes.)

Well, to cheer myself up, I am playing with one of my new images from Stamping Bella, which I LOVE: Monstah Bash!  Just look at those little furballs!  They are really ready to celebrate someone's birthday with their bright red balloon!

I stamped the image two times on Bella's Bestest Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I cut one of them out with Rectangle Nesties, and sponged some Old Olive ink inside the stencil.  I also spritzed that with an Old Olive marker and my color spritzing tool for a fun splatter effect.
For the second copy of the image, I coloured them with Copics, cut them out, and mounted them on with foam dots for some dimension.  That rectangle was matted with black CS.

The base is Basic Gray CS, and the green patterned paper is from Crate Paper, with a black mat.  I added some black gingham ribbon around that base layer, tied with a knot.  Underneath the image layer, I added a piece of Real Red textured CS, and I added a metal-rimmed tag to the lower corner with the sentiment, and some Distress ink sponged.

You still have time to send Emily your card with flowers for this week's Bellarific Friday on the Bella Blog.  Don't forget!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

A Cake For Lulu

Hi all!

Well, did I mention how EXCITED I am to be a Bella Babe wth Stamping Bella??? I might have said it once or twice already...{blush}.

I was looking at my "modest" binder of images from there, and decided to ink up one I haven't used yet! Isn't it a shame when those beautiful images are just sitting there unloved?

I was in the mood for a birthday card - I pulled out this amazing cake image from the Lulu collection (which I LOVE, BTW), and I think it is so pretty that you could use it for a wedding card...but really any celebration that calls for a cake.

I had this really yummy Heidi Grace paper (flocked and everything), and I coloured my image to match...the paper had lots of yellows, and some greens, pinks, and oranges.  So when I was laying my card out, I realized that the paper looked horrible with the image; just too much goin' on.  So, I rummaged through my stash and found this really lovely paper from SU's Raspberry Tart DSP pack, and it complemented the image perfectly!

The pearls are from Martha Stewart, and the ribbon is a VERY old SU scrap I was trying to use up.  I embossed the middle white strip with my Cuttlebug Swiss Dots embossing folder.
The sentiment is also from Da Bella Shop - I have used this several times, and can't stress enough how handy it is to just have small generic sentiments like that...they are really useful! I used my handy dandy Word Window Punch and Modern Label Punch for that, and added some Liquid Pearls to the sides.

I stamped Lulu's Birthday Cake onto Bella's Bestest Paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink.  I coloured it with Copics and added some shading with Prismacolors and OMS.  I cut that out with Classic Square Nesties, and added some Pretty In Pink sponging inside the stencil (although I think I had some orange on my sponge because it looks like a different colour).

Copics:
Tray: W1, W3, W5, W7
Cake: R0000, R00, R32, R24
Flowers: YR61, YR64, YR7, and the leaves are YG63 & YG67

I know what you're saying...that cake looks like it has a disease because of all those spots!  I treid to add some glitter to it - looks nice IRL, but it looks weird in the pic.  How about this one?

Alright, well that's it for today.  Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

P.S. Don't forget about the monochromatic challenge running over on Bloggabella right now!

Smell The Flowers

Hi all,

I have a fun card to show you today using one of the March releases from Some Odd Girl!  I am playing along with the following challenges:

- Scrap-Creations: Spring Has Sprung
- Paper Pretties: #146 Spring
- Stamping With The Dragon: Bring On Spring

Can you tell I as on the hunt for spring time challenges?  There are tons out there right now!

Here's mine:

My card base is Kraft CS, and the rest of the papers and the tag are from SU's Friends and Flowers Simply Scrappin' Kit.  I added 3 jumbo brads to the left side, and some turquoise grosgrain ribbon around the middle panel.

I printed Flower Kaylee onto PTI White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut her out with a thin white border, and mounted her on with foam dots.  This chickee happens to be on the SOG blog banner (if you recognized her).

That's it for today, hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

A Wintery Birthday

Hi all,

I am still playing with some of the awesome winter and holiday images that Kristy has put out at Some Odd Girl!  I saw a few challenges I could get in on, so I threw a little somethin' together!

Firstly, I am entering the Allsorts challenge #83: Anything Goes.

Next, I am playing along with the Creative Card Crew challenge: Birthdays.

And finally, I used the Card Patterns Sketch #96...here:

And I had to use my new Snowy Mae digi, along with the fun Happy Birthday sentiment! Did you know Kristy sells sentiments too?  I especially like this one because there is an outline, so you can colour it!

Here is my card:
The base is Kraft CS, followed by a Basic Black piece, and a Whisper White mat.  On top of that, I added a plaid piece of Manchester DSP from SU, and I wrapped some Soft Suede polka dot ribbon around that layer, and added a staple to each side.

I cut my circles out of Whisper White and Soft Suede CS using my classic and scallop circle Nesties.  I sponged the white circle with some Wheat Dew Drop ink.  I punched some arrows out of white and black CS and added them for some fun interest.

I printed Mae and the sentiment off onto PTI White CS and coloured them with Copics.  I cut Mae out, and attached her with Dimensionals, and I put the sentiment panel in her hand - it looks like she is showcasing it!

Also, don't forget that the SOG blog ALWAYS has a challenge running, and every 2 weeks Kristy gives away SOG points, and free digis!
Also, there is a My Tiny Contest running until January 16 - you won't want to miss it!!!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Town Scrapper Showcase: Fleurs

Hi all,

Well, it's another exciting Monday over at The Town Scrapper blog!  The DT get to showcase images from any company that Phebe sells at her store!  Well, I had an itch to pull out some Greeting Farm images, and I chose Fleur Anya!

I used Whisper White and Kraft CS.  The DSP I used is Raspberry Tart from SU (retired) - I love those green and pink colours!  I used my Circle Nesties for the circle and sallop circle panels, and I used my Photo Corner punch for the top 2 corners. I tied some Kraft Taffeta ribbon around that base layer.  My sentiment is from SU's Well Scripted set, stamped with Chocolate Chip ink and cut out.

I stamped Anya onto Neenah Solar White CS with Versafine Onyx Black ink, and embossed her with Clear EP.  I coloured her with Copics, cut her out, and attached her to the circle panel with Dimensionals.

Make sure to check out what all the DT have created at the TTS blog!  If you are interested in images from The Greeting Farm, you can contact Phebe by email at info@townscrapper.com or by phone at 519-882-0623!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Little Tyke on a Trike

Hi all!

I made another birthday card for an upcoming birthday - there are some special little twins that will be turning two!  I HAD to pull out one of my images by Mo Manning.  Bye Bye Girl is sold in rubber at Stamping Bella, or in digi at Mo's Digital Pencil.  Something for everyone!

My card base is Kraft CS, and I embossed it with my Dots and Spots Cuttlebug folder.  The next layer is Whisper White, also embossed, and I stitched that layer to the base with my Janome Sew Mini.

I stamped the rubbah version of Bye Bye Girl in Memento Onyx black ink onto Bella's Bestest CS, and coloured her with Prismacolour Pencils, and OMS.  I layered her onto a Basic Black mat.  The Happy Birthday sentiment is also by Stamping Bella, and I stamped that in black ink on Kraft CS, and punched it out with my Word Window punch.

I'm sure you'll agree - these images are just to-die-for!  And they are a blast to colour!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

SOG Stash Challenge 6: Ribbons and Rub-ons

Hi All,

Thanks for dropping by to peek at the 6th Stash Challenge from the Some Odd Girl blog!  This week, our challenge is to use ribbons and rub-ons - HOW FUN?!?!  We have now split our massive DT in 2 teams, and I am Team Stash, so here we go!

We are also using this challenge to celebrate our awesome release on August 10 - you can pick up your images at the Some Odd Girl shop HERE.  There's something for everyone!

I chose to showcase the lovely Balloon Kaylee.  She's perfect for any birthday or other celebration, and the SOG images are so great for colouring, you can match them with any patterned papers!

My card base is Kraft CS, and I have also used Handsome Hunter, Whisper White, and Manchester DSP from SU.  I used the Ticket Corner Punch on all of the panels and mats.  On the large piece of DSP, I added a lot of sponging with some Soft Suede ink to dull it a bit.  I wanted the card to be on the neutral side...ahhhh, nice and relaxing.  I used 3 pieces of Soft Suede polka dot ribbon tied in knots width-wise.  The sentiment is a rub-on from SU - "BIRTHDAYS are the best!".

I printed the adorable Kaylee onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut her out with a small white border around, and mounted her on with Dimensionals.

Make sure to stop by the SOG blog to see what the whole DT have done, and to enter your own creation using ribbons and rub-ons!  You have a chance to win some awesome digis!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stoping by!

Buds Birthday

Hi all,

I made this card for my niece's birthday - it is coming up next month.  She is about to turn 2, and they have a big dog named Baron (Chocolate Lab).  My image is called Buds from Mo's Digital Pencil.  Here it is:

How adorable is she???  I wish I was that size...I wanna sleep on top of a dog!

I went with a really simple layout - I wanted the image to be in the spotlight!  My card base is Whisper White, and I added some button embossing with a Cuttlebug folder.  I also wrapped some yellow satin ribbon around the base, and I attached a bow which I made with my Bow Easy.

I printed the image onto Bella's Bestest cardstock, and coloured her with Prismacolour pencils.  I stamped the sentiment (from Stamping Bella) at the top using my Stamp-a-ma-jig...lots of effort, can you tell???  I added a Basic Black mat behind that.

I think they will like it - what do you think?

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

SOG Teams Up With Card Patterns!

Hi All,

Some Odd Girl is sponsoring this week's Card Patterns Sketch #74!  This is so much fun and 2 of us Oddies got to participate as well!
Here is the sketch:

Here's my version:
My card base is Pretty In Pink CS, and all my DSP is from the SU Petals & Paisley pack.  The next layer is DSP, matted with Whisper White and Basic Black, and I added some zig-zag stitching around it with my Janome Sew Mini.
The panel across the bottom is DSP, Basic Black, and Whisper White, which was punched with my Martha Stewart fence edge punch.  The panel across the top is just a white piece with a black mat with stitching, and underneath is a piece of twill.  The 3 buttons on the left are threaded with Linen Thread, and attached with Mini Glue Dots. The sentiment is an SU rub-on, cut out with a Modern Label Punch.

My image is called Nana Split - from Some Odd Girl!  I printed it onto PTI White CS twice, coloured them with Copics, and cut them out.  The second image I used for layering.  I also added some red Stickles to the cherry for some sparkle.  The panel behind the split is Rectangle Nesties with white CS, and a black mat.  I added some sponging to the white rectangle with Pretty In Pink and Regal Rose inks.  I added 3 more butons to the right side, and some stitching to that panel.
Make sure to head over to the Card Patterns blog to enter your own creation with their sketch and try to win some SOG stuff!  Also, remember there is always a challenge running at the SOG blog, so head over there if you haven't already!
Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Showcase Monday: Sisters

Hi All,

Thanks for joining me on this lovely Monday in June!  Every Monday, The Town Scrapper blog has a showcase where all the Scrapettes get to show you projects they made using images that are sold at The Town Scrapper!  Phebe sells Mo Manning, so I chose her image called Stepsisters for my card.

Now, I don't have a stepsister, but I have a real sister, and I thought this image would be perfect for her upcoming birthday on June 30!  I would be the younger one on the left...

My card base is Whisper White.  Next, I added another white piece, which was embossed with the Cuttlebug Happy Birthday embossing folder, and matted with a Basic Gray piece.  I added some zigzag stitching all the way around that layer.  I wanted to keep the base simple, so that the focus would be on the main image.

I stamped the sisters in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured them with Prismacolour Pencils, and cut them out with Label Two Nesties.   I added some ink around the outside to make the white stand out a bit on the white background.  There are also a few small dots of Fruit Punch Stickles on the pink dress - I was always the more girly one. LOL

I think my sister will like this - it will remind her of how annoying I was to her when we were young!

Make sure to stop by the TTS blog and check out what the whole DT are showcasing!  If you want any of the images, or need to ask Phebe any questions, you can contact her by email at info@townscrapper.com or by phone at 519-882-0623.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Card Patterns 65: Some Odd Girl Dino

Hi All,

I decided to play along with the current sketch over on the Card Patterns blog: CP 65.  It was nice, and simple, and I really enjoyed it!  Here is the glimpse:

Here is my take on it:

I started off with a Kraft base.  I added 4 round buttons (tied with Linen Thread) to the corners with Mini Glue Dots (I think they are Rose Red colour).  The square at the back is a plain Whisper White piece, then there is a blue strip from the Bali Breeze DSP pack, which I distressed.  On top of that, there is a green piece of Bali Breeze DSP, which was also distressed.  I took a piece of Old Olive CS, and cut it with my Martha Stewart grass punch, and stuck it on top of the green square. The sentiment is from SU's Vintage Labels set - stamped in black ink onto a white scrap, and punched out with my Word Window punch, and adhered just below the white square. I attached another button to the right side of that.

I printed the Dino image from Some Odd Girl onto PTI White CS, coloured him with Copics, cut him out, and mounted him onto the grass.

I thought this would be a cute card to give to a kid - they love animals and bright, fun colours!

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

CardPatterns Sketch #59: Bulb

Hi All,

I am participating in this week's CardPatterns sketch Challenge #59, and I decided to pull out my adorable digi image Bulb from Some Odd Girl Digital Stamps!  He is a new creature that will be released later on this month!

Here is the sketch:

Here is my take:

It's a pretty simple sketch...they did say on the CardPatterns blog that last week's was really difficult, and they were giving us a break this week!  My card base is Basic Gray. For the panel to the right, I used some Timeworn DSP (retired SU), and matted that with a Basic Black layer, punched with an EK Success edge punch.  At the bottom of that, I cut out a piece of Whisper White, and stamped it with a birthday setiment, and spelled out the word "human" with an alphabet set I have (Basic Black ink).  I also added some distress ink to that panel.

For the main panel, I cut out a piece of the DSP with Oval Nesties, and matted that with a Black oval, and added some white stitching around that.  Bulb was printed onto PTI White CS, coloured with Copics, cut out, and mounted on with Dimensionals.

I added a button to the corner of that oval.  It is actually a clear button, embossed with Silver EP a couple times, and I tied some silver cord through it, and attached it with a Mini Glue Dot.

I thought it would be a good card for a guy, or for a kid, so we'll see who the lucky recipient is!  Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Ballerina Birthday

Hi All,

A girl at work asked me to make her a birthday card to give to her niece - she said she likes pink, and sparkly things...

My card base is Rose Red CS, followed by a layer of Whisper White, and Raspberry Tart DSP.  Across the bottom of that, I added a Whisper White strip punched with an SU edge punch, and then a Pretty In Pink strip.  I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment in Versamark and embossed with White EP.

I added a bunch of pink rhinestones (from Michael's) to the punched edge, and also to the sides of the light pink piece.

For the main panel, I cut a piece of DSP with my oval Nesties, and matted that with a Rose Red piece and a scallop Whisper White piece.  I stamped Ballerina Anya in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto Neenah Solar White CS, coloured her with Copics, cut her out, and mounted her on with Dimensionals.  I coloured her Tiara with a pink Atyou Spica Glitter pen.  I also added some pink Stickles to her shoes, and to the middles of some of the flowers on the DSP for some added sparkle.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!

Farm Fresh Friday: Got Dessert? And the Club Anya Sketch

Hi All,

I saw a couple of fun challenges over at the Greeting Farm and Club Anya.  The first one is this week's Farm Fresh Friday challenge: to create a project with a dessert theme.  I also used the Saturday Sketch for this week from Club Anya - here is a glimpse of it:

I decided to make a birthday card for this one.  I don't have very many stamps with food in them, so I had a slim choice.  I chose to use Birthday Anya because she has a big fat piece of cake on her head!  My DSP is SU's retired Washington Apple pack. I LOVE those papers...I wish I had bought an extra pack.

My card base is Whisper White.  I punched out a Real Red and a smaller Whisper White scallop circle with Nesties and stuck them on.  I then cut a rectangle of yellow DSP and matted that with Real Red CS, and mounted that on top of the scallops.  Then, I tied some Red Gingham Ribbon in a knot around that base layer.  I used the same DSP and Real Red CS for the 2 photo corners as well.

I then cut out a circle of the checker DSP and matted that with a Real Red circle from Nesties and mounted that on with Dimensionals.  The sentiment is from an SU set stamped in Basic Black ink onto Whisper White CS and cut out.

Anya was stamped onto Neenah Solar White CS with Versafine Black ink and embossed with Clear EP.  I coloured her with my Copic markers, cut her out, and mounted her with Dimensionals.

Hope you enjoyed, and thanks for stopping by!
