My little sleeper

I just have to document what a good sleeper Avery is. Last night she fell asleep at 9:30. She didn't wake up to eat until 4:30, and then she went right back to sleep until 7:30! How great is that? Also, two nights ago, I laid Avery down in her bassinet and she was still pretty wide awake, and she put herself to sleep. I was amazed. Corbin didn't start doing either of those things until he was about 6 months old. It is such a blessing that Avery is a good sleeper. It makes for a much happier mama.

garbage can

I have mentioned this to some people before, but we have the best garbage men! Garbage day is Corbin's favorite day of the week, and he always goes out to sit on the driveway so he can watch the garbage and recycling trucks come. The garbage men are so nice to him and they always wave and talk to him. Our garbage man patiently answered Corbin every time (3 weeks in a row) that Corbin asked him, "What does your dumper office look like?" I really appreciate his kindness, because it always makes Corbin's day to talk to him. Today, was no exception. The recycling truck came and they waved to Corbin and talked to him. And then the driver got out and gave him a toy garbage can! You should have seen how Corbin's face lit up! It was so unexpected and nice of them.
And here is a video of Avery, just so you don't forget about her. You can hear Corbin playing garbage in the background. And at the end Corbin gives a great "Home Alone" impression.

birthday weekend

Well, another year has come and gone. Having mine and Clark's birthdays at the beginning of Clark's busy season is definitely not the greatest thing. But we still managed to have a good time. My birthday was Saturday, and Clark was able to get off work by 4:30, so then we went and picked me out a new phone. I got the Droid Incredible. So, I have now joined the cool phone group. Go me! The main reason I even post about the phone, is because I am sure when I read this post in 5 or 10 years I will laugh at how much technology has changed.
After the phone store we took the kiddos and went out to eat at Panera Bread. It was delicious. Then we went home and taught Corbin how to bowl on the Wii. He loves it. Now he asks to play it everyday. And he also asks to play the games on my phone everyday too. :)
I think my favorite part of my birthday was when Clark tried to sing me my family's crazy birthday song. He could only remember about half of the song, so he just made up the rest. I was laughing so hard! It was awesome. Here are the real words:
"As years go by they seem to do the nicest things for you
And every time you add one more, your 12 months dearer than before.
A very happy birthday, a very happy birthday, a very happy birthday especially for you.
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday dear _____
Happy birthday to you"

Clark's birthday we went to church, played bowling some more, ate a nice dinner and had ice-cream cake. So, it wasn't a very eventful weekend, but just being able to spend some time with Clark made it a great weekend.
Here's to hoping that this busy season goes by quickly, because we are all already tired of the long hours.

2 months

I am a little late posting this, but Avery is now 2 months old! Here are her latest stats:

Weight: 11 lbs 50%
Height: 22 inches 30%
Head circ: 15 inches 50%

Avery is so much fun. I am sad to see her growing so quickly. I know that I am going to miss this stage when she is older. Avery is a great sleeper. At night she will generally sleep for 5-6 hours for her first stretch and then do 3 hour increments after that. The best part is that I never have to rock her back to sleep. And there have even been a few times when I have been able to put her down in her bassinet when she is drowsy, and she will go to sleep all on her own. Another fun thing about Avery is that really she loves bath time. She smiles and talks the whole time she is in there. She loves watching everything Corbin does.

Last week I taught Corbin's preschool class. Part of the lesson was on Eskimos. So I decided to let them dress up in some of our winter clothes (hats, gloves, scarfs). We pretended to be Eskimos living in an igloo (Corbin's little play tent), we went fishing for the number 11 (And the kids would all scream out "11!!!" whenever we caught it. It was so cute) And then I also brought in some snow and let them play with it at the table. It was a really big hit! In fact, I did it again yesterday just for Corbin, because we had a lot of fresh snow from a storm that came through last Sunday. So, that is just a little update into what Corbin and I have been doing lately.

Sunbeam

Today was Corbin's first day of going to the big kid Sunbeam class at church. He was pretty nervous at first, and I had to bribe him to stay with the promise of a candy cane when we got home. It worked, and he stayed. And once he settled in a little bit, he had a lot of fun. I think that he will really love singing time because he loves music so much.
Here is a picture of my cute kids in their Sunday clothes. I had to really convince Corbin to tuck his tie into his vest. He usually likes to pull it out and have it on top of whatever he is wearing so that he can see it better.
