BOO.
today is saturday. next friday, i will be in the land of no fb and no blogger ehhhh
cheeepockks.
right now, things don't feel vvreal. i can't really believe that i will be out of the sunny island for 5months 2days+/-. it's not the denial disbelief. rather, it's the surprising disbelief. this just proves how time literally flies. as always.
sigh. FRIDAY IS REALLY COMING! hahaha.
okie. i think i'm most worried about my mum. but knowing how strong she is, i know she'll be fine:D.
and i really love my family loads. we are going for a picnic on sunday! haha. although i honestly felt that sometimes i can't really rely on my siblings to do some things (cos they are busy with all their own families now and usually we just sit together hv lunch/chat/play with my nephew, niece, babynephew on sundays), and i don't want to make them feel obliged to do some things for me, so i would try to settle some things myself. but in the end, my sis helped me settle the travel insurance. :)). really grateful. and my brother offered to bring me to the chinese embassy to do the visa. okkay these things sound really small when you spell them out (and i sound like a brat with no hands and legs. lol), but i guess that's what family means. the small things which don't seem to count much, but are actually things which you can't exactly attach a value to.
anyways, singapore is really a very round place. lol. when you travel around it on bus, you will discover the roundness of it. like how aljunied and hougang is separated by a traffic junction (somewhat.) and like how queenstown and orchard are so near each other too!! okay do i sound like an absolute noob. lol.
i think i will miss singapore's smallness and accessibility=). despite the humid sweltering heat singapore emanates, i think i still love it nevertheless:).
okayy. time for some kaya n kopi at yakun=p.
ja ne.

hellos.
hmm i have been wondering how to put the feelings and emotions into appropriate words and sentences. questions like what determines appropriate pop up in my brain. then i start to think about appropriatefulness and truthfulness. if these two words existed anyway. but we all know. this is a public blog. and i'm a private sort of person. and i realise. the reason i don't keep things really updated on the blog is that a lot of things are better left unsaid. that way things can be kept simple. the amount of time put into deliberation was the best proof.
thanks to all who came and to all who displayed their concern in one way or other. :) heartfelt. appreciated. truly.
if you ask me if everything is okay, i will tell you i am. even now, as i type, i see my fingers backspacing and typing, backspacing and typing. usually if i repeat this motion for a few more times, i will hover my mouse over that tiny cross and click close. but somehow. i want to finish this entry.
it's confusing. nothing is never confusing. but i think i will choose to stick with the belief that everything that has moved on, will have a better tomorrow.
dwelling on it, mulling over it, it won't get better, it won't disappear.
but no numbness. let there be never ever be numbness.

love life. pls do.

HOLA~
baked apple pie with eve and eve's sis tdy(:. PIE!!! omg. hahaha. okay. it's time for a change ma. other than cookies and muffins (hmph!) and cakes, it's time to turn from cakes to pastries. BAHAHA. the new pastry book my bro borrowed from the library made me feel like taking up the challenge. but the recipes mostly called for dough that had to be refrigerated overnight. and there were a couple of complicated dough preparation methods (some different types of tart pastry). OKOK. i know i'm getting boring. photos will do some talk. but actually, in short, it wasn't
that hard after all. yaay:D.
managed to upload some photos for a couple of other bakes i did last week.
Lemon Cheesecake Squares~ basically, it's cheesecakes acting cute :). this was REALLY yums:DD. ya they were flat. maybe should be cheesecake flats instead of squares.
original name was Red Velvet Cake. but since i decided to give red food colouring a miss, it turned out brown. the new name is unoriginally- Brown brown cake. the brown colour was due to the 80g of cocoa powder. it WAS chocolatey. amazing 80g of cocoa powder. wondered if it was the 1 tablespoon of white vinegar which gave the rich chocolatey brownie effect that normally required approximately 220g of choc chips. oh, and the spread in between the layers of cake was cream cheese :).
the grand canyon which formed while the cake was still in the oven. it did sink down eventually. covered the cracks with cream cheese, but the truth did sink in when i cut the cake. lol.
okay this doesn't look good, presentation-wise. it's the same one i baked for my 20th bdae :). Strawberry sandwich cake! :)
here is a nicer angle :D.
close-up~
and now for tdy's bake: Apple (and raisin) Pie!!
-oops i forgot to upload my profiteroles. nvm, that's an old bake:p.
the apple pie feat~ combined effort of the ong sisters and yc.
looks abit like pacman!
the orange zest added flavour ~:)
there were some other angles but i got tired of uploading. HAHA. till next time :).

heyyyyya~
super lazy to bother uploading photos these days. but uploaded some to my album, shall upload slowly and post at one go=) e.g a) the stuff i've been baking, b) the food i've been eating.
anyway, bought a tart/pie pan tdy! and i just realised that mincemeat pies don't have meat!! omg. am i swaku or what. lol. apparently u need the following to make the mincemeat filling:
Homemade Mincemeat:
2 large Golden Delicious apples, peeled and grated
1 -12 ounce (1 1/2 cups) (340 grams) can frozen apple juice concentrate, thawed
1 cup (85 grams) dried apples, chopped
3/4 cup (120 grams) dark raisins
3/4 cup (120 grams) golden raisins
3/4 cup (90 grams) dried currants
3/4 cup (105 grams) dried cranberries
2/3 cup (120 grams) mixed candied peel
1/3 cup (60 grams) candied lemon peel
1/2 cup (105 grams) dark brown sugar
1/2 cup (120 ml) dark rum
1/2 cup (120 ml) brandy or cognac
4 tablespoons (57 grams) unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt
(from Joy of Baking)
no sign of any meat. so it's vegetarian!! haha. i want to make apple pie and custard pie!!! :D.

i ate KATONG LAKSA tdy:). i finished the whole bowl. yumms. it wasn't too oily (usually u see this layer of oil in ur laksa bowl) and there wasn't too much coconut milk (cos didn't feel bloated). and i love using a spoon to eat my laksa. no danger of spilling laksa zup all over ur top. yes. i was one of those dhs students who will stain her tie/white blouse when eating the sch's ytf stall's occasional laksa. lol. laksa makes me think of lor mee. for no solid reason. ahh. probably cos the same ytf stall sells lor mee occasionally as well. haha. and porridge too!! aww. my dhs fried wantons.
and after the laksa i went to this traditional place for some kaya bread and kopi=).
真美珍!last time when 紅屋 still existed, these were the two places for some traditional cakes, kopi and roti. i miss red house's tar sau roti)::.
kopi-C, teh-C (famous for their teh-C), 2 kaya roti (round white bread. there's also black bread which has raisins but isn't as suitable for kaya and gu you ie butter) @ 4bucks. :D
yes that is a slice of butter you see on the right side of the bread. DELIIIIISH:DD.
bought some of their small cakes home too. photos nxt time:). jio me if u feel like going to 真美珍 after seeing the roti photos. LOL. the kaya is superb too. not too sweet, and eggy:). imho, it's better than yakun's :).

somehow. i couldn't sleep.
just because it's the release of results today. at some weird time at eleven am. =.=
decided to plan my modules for subsequent semesters. for my own reference. just so i won't get all confused by writing on random scrap pieces of paper and throwing them about, shall type it here. (just some senseless looking stuff. lol. my school rocks la. okay. it's just f a s.)
I have to take 8 modules in NJU to map back 5 NUS modules. if the school is nice, I will map back 3 CH3000 and 2CH2000 modules. this is plan A.
yr3 sem2: LAK3201, CH2000 (maybe lamp's 2228 唐宋詞. i've forgotten atm whether i'd tried to map it for exchange), 2 CH4000
yr4 sem1: 3 CH4000, CH2000, 1 breadth (which I will forget its existence and eventually S/U it)
yr4 sem2: 3 CH4000, 1 UE
plan B: if I'm only allowed to map back 2 CH3000 and hence 3 CH2000 after exchange, I will have to take CH3000 in yr4 sem1 instead of the friendly CH2000.

okay if my gpa sucks overall this time i will drop all plans of the year4. SOB.

heyaa~
haven't blogged since the days before the last exam paper.. anyway there was a follow up to the incident of the old lady i saw in ws foodcourt. i was just talking about how unfortunate/underprivileged some old people in sg were, when i saw a very different set of old people in the same place the next day. there was this group of old people, old ladies and old men, sitting at the table next to me, drinking kopis and tehs, chatting merrily away.
OL (old lady)1's handphone rings (it wasn't the normal boring ringring/nokia tune but some oldie song).
OL1: Hallo? Ah! Where are you? [i presume it was her OL-kaki on the other line]
OLs and OM (old men) continue their chatter.
OL1: We all ah? At simei!
OL2: (corrects her) Aiyo. Pasir ris la! Whitesands.
haha.
i wonder if the same thing will happen to me when i grow old and no longer know the difference between simei and pr. HAHA. okay. maybe OL1 lives in the west side area. but hmmm i DO know the difference between say... jurong point and queensway shopping centre. ok. bad comparison. lol.
the group of old people finished their kopis and tehs and went off to their next destination [my long ears didn't catch the name of the place].
hmmmm. maybe this shows that our destinies are in our own hands. and this is the time when our parents will go, see, i told you, if you don't study hard, you will become a cleaner next time and still got to work when you are old.
wells.
maybe the old lady from the previous blog entry was 1) a poor old spinster with no children to support her. or 2) was a mother to unfilial children who left her to fend for herself. 3) a victim of a family scuffle for inheritance and her share was swallowed by evil sisters/brothers-in-law and children who conspired with their uncles.
yaya. my imagination is running wild.
sigh.

i want to use up the cream cheese in my fridge. i used only 1/5 of it for the cream cheese topping. and this recipe i'm going to try tomorrow (lemon cheesecake squares!) requires lemon curd.
and the recipe i found for lemon curd makes for 1pint aka 500ml. 0_0. i only need five tablespoons ie around 78ml of it. wells.
i think in the end i might just exclude the lemon curd.
-
my england is getting horrible.
one day i forgot the english translation of 口罩。on another day, i forgot the word "alcohol".
and today i almost typed "disclude" instead of "exclude".
ARGH.

boo.
it's a bad period to get caught up in a game, but oops i did it again! HAHA. last sem it was petty (pet society). this time round it's rc (restaurant city). i can't really explain, but it is really hypnotizing watching your employees work, customers eat, dishes disappear as your points and coins increase. hahah. as my friend said, seeing the way the little people eat their little food is vcute (mind you, the person who said is is a guy). yeah and i rmb seeing this forum post about this guy who spent so much time at the game, his gf thought he got a new cyberspace gf><.
anyway. i wasn't inspired to blog because of rc. i started long ago. like some weeks la. and i started random people and deleting them. i really can't believe i did that and am still doing (but not on regular basis, i'm not that free since i'm still having exams).
was studying at the ws foodcourt today, with all the smells, crowds, chatter, munching going on all around me. it was pretty comfortable and conducive though. but i did get fidgety after about 3h. there was this old lady who came to sit at the table next to me at around 5plus, and i didn't really pay much attention to her. while i fidgeted, i looked around, and i saw that the old lady was eating plain bread. some other people around me were eating their dinner. i wondered if she was eating hers. and i felt very sad for her, all of her sudden. besides bread, she had this plastic bottle of plain bottle. bread and water for a meal. doesn't it sound sad :(. to think that i usually eat a lot of vege and meat and maybe egg for dinner. after that i noticed she was wearing those boots that cleaners normally wear. i hope she was eating tea break and not dinner! why are there so many old people in singapore, and i see alot of them working as cleaners in foodcourts/hawkers :(. sighh. the old people in singapore don't seem to be leading a carefree retired life.
hai.
okkay. i think i will go sleep now. i got the sleep early bug from yt. hoho.
