Thanksgiving & a Great Deal on Haircuts

What kind of mother thinks to herself, "Dang, you need a haircut before Thanksgiving - I'll do it." ??? I just bust out the clippers and went straight for the front of his head! No practicing on the back or anything - just buzzed a line straight back right down the middle. When he got his hair cut for $15 a few months ago it looked so easy! I really thought I could do it. I just kept saying to him "your dad is gonna kill me for this." He loved the buzzing of the clippers and actually let me finish the unintentional buzz without too much fuss - but I won't be doing that again! I did all this after I bathed and lotioned him - then had to do it all again.

He will not hold still for pictures anymore. So here is his haircut - in double vision.

Free haircut anyone?

He is the only person he will give kisses too! He finally knows the difference in his EARS and EYES! I wish I could get a picture of him showing me his eyes. He rolls them and batts his lashes - it is so funny!I seriously went insane the week and half before Thanksgiving. I lost my wedding ring, lost my debit card, lost my mail keys - but didn't know I had lost them until I found them dangling from the mailbox two days later! By Friday I had found my keys, found my ring in the pocket of the dirty pants I had to wear out of desparation, then found my debit card in the most obvious place in my car. So, I thought things might be looking up only to back out of my garage and hit my mirror and totally break it off and into a million pieces (not to mention that I was already an hour late for work)! Then I pull this stunt with poor Spud's hair! Thank heavens for Thanksgiving break! I needed it.

THANKSGIVING

We spent Thanksgiving in California with Steve's family. His brother Nolan lives there with his wife Heidi and their fetus! We spent the night in St. George at my sisters house on the way there and back - thank you dear sister! It was fun to be able to see them while on a trip to see someone else. Besides the snowy 9 hour drive home from St. George -we had a great weekend! We celebrated Heidi's birthday in San Diego, went to the Mormon Battalion, and took Spud to the Ocean! He LOVED it! Spud literally learned to run at the Ocean - he just kept running in until Steve grabbed him. Steve kept asking me "what does he think is gonna happen when he gets in there?" I figure he thinks he is gonna get grabbed by his dad and it's all a big game - but who knows what goes on in this little boys head?

We went to Coronado Island. If you have ever been there you know the beach is all sparkly with gold speckled throughout the sand. Spud face planted a few times and I could not get the sand off his face. At least he was sparkly rather than just muddy. I really didn't think he ate that much sand - but he is seriously still pooping sand! The first couple days after were especially interesting. I guess his colon got a good sanding - yikes! Maybe that is where he picked up the terrible virus that made him throw up for a week after we got home! And our new favorite photo ever:How cute are my boys? Oh how I love them!

Yoda Spud

Well I got a new camera and a new computer - woohoo! Now I'm broke. Boohoo! PS: I posted more below this, Pumpkin Patch and Spud's Bday pics!
My Spud was Yoda for Halloween! He was so cute. He wasn't too into the hub-bub, but he liked having his costume on all the time - even if it was too small!

He has been walking around with Steve's back scratcher lately - which is perfect for Yoda!He did have one little break down - which I had to take a picture of, as his squish face looks even more like Yoda.We went to the ward truck-or-treat - which turned into a "walk the halls and sweat to death with 200 other people and get lots of suckers" event. He loved the sticks on the suckers, but I didn't let him eat any of them. How does he know they aren't just toys? My cute little guy earlier in the day. He loves to wear his "Lil Ute" hat.My nephew Colton was Justin Beiber - no offense to the other cousins, but I'm pretty sure Colton is Spud's favorite. He gets ecstatic when he sees Colton, even a picture of him! Plus he gives piggy back rides! My neice Morgan got to come up from St. George with her friend - but brought none of her family, boohoo. So glad to see her though - we miss the Bailey's!Yoda Dylan & Puppy SarynMy brother Todd with his cute little Saryn trying on Yoda!

Well, I am not the biggest Halloween lover, but it is so much fun again with a kid. As my neice said - it just gets boring after a while! Until you have babies to dress up!

Pumpkins

Our first trip to the Pumpkin Patch with Spud. It was alot of fun - but Steve did mention that it would be more fun with friends - so there is our solicitation for next year! We got some cute pics - enjoy!
And then the carving of course!

We had Todd & Sue's kids over for dinner on Sunday as both parents were out of town at the same time! I didn't think about just how stupid it was to carve pumpkins - with big fat sharp knives - while both their parents were out of town! Luckily - they all left happy and with all their fingers! Spud was so stoked to have his cousins come to his house. He goes to their house to be babysat everyday - so when they showed up at our house he was so excited, but totally confused!
Danny was an amazing helper with the big knives especially! Dan lives with us now by the way.
Keagan helped Spud with his pumpkin before starting on his own. The Mr. Potato Head Pumpkin Push-ins were perfect for Spud - he loved his pumpkin!
The results - minus me and my pumpkin.
Cierra made a cute Superman "S" for her baby sister Saryn.
This one has me and my white skeleton pumpkin.
We had alot of fun and loved having the kids over. Having four kids is alot of work! When the kids are out of school and Spud is at their house, their mom has 5 kids (two of which are babies) - crazy! It's a good thing they usually come one at a time.
Happy Halloween!

Happy Birthday Spud!

I cannot believe that a year has passed! I wish I could slow down time a bit! Dylan turned 1 on August 30th. He had a great time partying with the fam - everyone gets such a kick out of this kid. He just gets funnier all the time!

He had to get a hair cut first. This was his first official haircut - his daddy did trim a few hairs the day before and he had his mohawk trimmed a few times also. He loved the car and was so good - except the parts that he had to dance to the tunes on the Baby Einstein movie.

The 3oth was a Monday, so we had his party on Saturday the 28th at my mom's. First things first, SWIMMING! He loves it and loves his Uncle Todd and cousins splashing with him.

The birthday spread, lots of Spuds of course.

I made a Spud cake for my Spud!

He loved the bows best!
I made a little loaf size cake and put the actual Mr. Potato Head pieces on it - just for Spud. He pulled the ears off and started sucking the frosting off and looking at me like he was in heaven!
He seriously devoured this cake. He shared a little with his daddy - but otherwise ate the whole thing. I was so worried he was going to throw-up! It was hilarious to watch.
After his bath! We are so glad Grandma Rolayne and Grandpa Sam could come from Ely! Can't miss a big day like your only grandchild's first birthday after all!
He got his first bike and plenty of legos! Thanks for all the presents family!

One Cute Kid

Well, I lost my camera! So here are some random photos from the month of May. We did get a new camera - but haven't installed the stuff to put the pics on the computer yet. I can't believe we are only about a month away from Spud's birthday. I feel like I have had him forever and at the same time, like he just got here last week. Enjoy his cuteness, I sure do!

One last ride on Uncle Danny's knee before he had knee surgery.

Mother's Day. He was too cute holding my card. He of course had mangled it and sucked on it before giving it to me. He loves paper!

Being funny with Dad

I just love him in this towel.

Patty Cake

I adore this little human!

Do all babies learn a new skill, and then forget it a week later? He clapped those hands all day for a week, he did it on his own or if I sang Patty Cake - but now he won't do it at all! This video is the only proof I have that he can clap. He did the same thing with rolling over - he's a funny guy.

7 Months & Growing

Our little Spud is growing like a weed - a "Dyl" weed I guess! He is now 7 months old and 70 times cuter than I thought possible! We can't get enough of this guy and we spend a good portion of each day telling him and each other how much we love him and how we can't believe how cute he is.
On March 3rd he learned to sit all by himself! He probably could have done it a little earlier had I thought to try it! He balanced really well from the first try and wants to be sitting anytime he isn't sleeping! If he falls over, he does a continuous crunch until someone helps him back up.
Grandma & Grandpa Hanson came for a visit from Ely in March. Spud is so cute with them, I love how he is looking at Sam in this one! Grandpa Sam put shaving cream on his little nose. It was so funny watching him try to look at it and wonder! A great shot of Spud & Daddy! He LOVES that daddy!I took him for his 6 month appt (a few weeks late) on the 23rd of March. He had only gained a half pound since he had RSV in Feb! The doc thinks the RSV (which he handled like a champ)just slowed him down a bit. He weighed 16 lbs 12 oz - 24th percentile (he had been in the 42nd in Feb). He was 27.4 inches long - 70th percentile (previously 55th, so I guess he is long and skinny). His cute head is 17.1 inches around - 31st percentile. He had been right down the middle with everything, now a little small. He eats like it's nobody's business though - so we don't mind him staying little! He loves pretty much everything I try to feed him - except MEAT! He hates any of the baby food with meat in it. It is hilarious to watch him eat it. He takes a few bites and then starts gagging a bit and twitching uncontrollably. He also will not take anything somewhat solid. He does the twitchy/gag thing with the tiniest bit of bread or anything!
Here he is on the 23rd - pretty happy for a kid who just got 4 shots. I guess he was in a tylenol-induced daze! The sweet little man is just getting more fun! He laughs and smiles all the time. People always ask me if he ever cries - I am spoiled! He does cry, and he is starting that "spoiled cry" these days and giving me fits for taking things away from him or not feeding him immediately. I take pretty good care of the kid - he has nothing to complain about, so he'll just have to deal with it! We are working on clapping hands - which he does a little. And he seems to be waving at people the last couple days - I'm not convinced that it's on purpose though. But, I think he is a genius anyway!
