Lame
So I was hanging around Vancouver for the holidays. First it was not very cold and just didn't seem much like Christmas. But that's not the lame part. My last night there...I was actually not drinking. We went out for dessert and then went to my friends place to watch TV. I had 1/2 a shot cause I was driving and just didn't feel like drinking since that's all I was doing in Vancouver. Anyways, on the way home out of downtown there was a road block. I drive up to the cop and he asks "any alcohol tonight?". I tell him I had 1/2 a shot and he just looks at me and says "that's all? You're lame". I was in shock. Haha...I drive off and all we could do was laugh...who the hell gets told they are lame for not drinking when going through a road block?
MTA Strike
Nothing better than waking up in the morning to find out that the subways are on strike. I know that they've been talking about the strike for the last week or so but I don't think anyone really thought they were going to go through with it. There was talks about the strike starting last Friday but that didn't happen and then they pushed it to Monday night. I didn't even really think about alternative routes to work until I turned on the TV this morning to hear that they actually went on strike. So of course I freak out. The TV made it sound so bad where everyone was walking to work. So I put on my boots and am ready to start walking 50 blocks to work. Luckily, it wasn't as bad as the news had stated and I found a cab less than a block away from my apartment to go to work. I did, however, have to share the cab with two other passengers but who cares...I didn't have to walk my 50 blocks. My only issue now is that after work, it'll be worse and I might actually have to walk home since everyone will be trying to go home at the same time and catching cabs.I'm even worried about my car ride to the airport tomorrow. My car service said that there may be delays but I really hope that they pick me up. I wouldn't want to miss my flight home!
Holidays
It's that time of the year again. I don't know what it is but I seem to always lack focus at this time. All I can think about it going home and not working. I always have a bunch of deadlines around this time and I'm working but it's just such a pain. I have 7 days before I go home! I count down the days and get really excited about going home...especially this year since I finally get to see Dim Sum after two months. At least this year, I actually feel like I'm in the Christmas spirit. In the past, the holidays would come but for some reason it just didn't seem like I really cared too much but this year, I'm so excited to go shopping (although most of the time I end up with more presents for myself than my friends). I even put up my mini Christmas tree at home. It must be the city...it's all decorated and it's cold and snowy and makes you actually feel like it's the holidays. San Jose was just a drag and even going to the mall there for some reason it just didn't feel like Christmas...thank God for NYC!!!!
Conan O'Brian
So I got to go to the Conan O'Brian taping last night. My friend got two extra tickets and I wasn't sure if I'd be able to go cause of work but I just went anyways. So we showed up at 4:10 and the line was already long...needless to say we sat at the second last row, but it was still cool. Wasn't in any audience shots but it was just fun to be there and not working. It was a little over an hour wait to get in. We even had to go through security and everything. The guests were at least people we knew so that was good. There was Linsay Lohan, Colin Hanks and Coldplay. How cool was that? Thanks to my friend for the tickets.
DayQuil
I must say Day Quil is good stuff when you're feeling sick. On Friday, I was feeling like I was starting to catch something and went to the store to get some Day Quil. That helped a lot...the only thing. Let's say it's been a really long week and long hours at work. So of course on a Friday night, we're going to want to grab some drinks. Met up with some friends in Alphabet City..it's was one of my friends going away party...funny cause since I've moved to NYC, this is the first time I've seen him cause I've been out of town so much. It was fun...saw a lot of people from Vancouver...guess a bunch of them were visiting that weekend. Well, I must have only had like 4-5 drinks but let's say...the Day Quil really helped make it feel like a lot more. Yah I know they tell you that you're not suppose to drink while taking these things but come on...how are you suppose to unwind on a Friday night after a stressful week? Had a very nice rest day on Saturday.
