The Rolling Stones Interview: Toronto Phoenix Live 2005
Notes From YouTube: The latest selection in our Rolling Stones bootleg series documents something very rare: a Stones club show. "The hard gigs are the small ones," Keith Richards explains in the accompanying video interview. "If we can pull it off in a club, we can pull it off anywhere." That's why the band traditionally kicks off each world tour with a surprise appearance in a suitably small space. For the 2005 tour, that space was Toronto's Phoenix club, where several hundred ecstatic fans got to see the group test out new songs from A Bigger Bang, experiment with an alternative arrangement of "19th Nervous Breakdown," and have some fun with covers ranging from Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful" to Bob Marley's "Get Up Stand Up."

Google Play: The Rolling Stones Part 3 "LA Live '75"
I always love to hear musicians talk about how they make their music. Expecially when it is musicians who have a history of making really good music like the Rolling Stones.
I think this clip is very cool, and the best part is when Kieth Richards explains the time that he was at a party at Muddy Water's house and woke up at Howlin' Wolf's house.
Try and get your mind around that for a few seconds.

HOWLIN /// The real story of the blues
This is an old one but it is a good one. A wonderful documentary that has everybody that is anybody in the blues in it. Of course it has Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Memphis Slim, The Rolling Stones, Willie Dixon, Son House and many others.

Muddy Waters Rolling Stones Live Video
Coment Left @ YouTube:
22 November 1981,during their mammoth American tour, the Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago prior to playing 3 nights at the Rosemont Horizon. Long influenced by the Chicago blues, the band paid a visit to Buddy Guy's club the Checkerboard Lounge to see the legendary bluesman perform. It didn't take long before Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood and Ian Stewart were joining in on stage and later Buddy Guy and Lefty Dizz. It was a unique occasion that was fortunately captured on camera.

Muddy Waters and The Rolling Stones Video
After re-reading my post on Keith Richards where I dropped the F bomb about how much I love The Rolling Stones, I thought OK, you could be overstating the case a bit.
You know I might be a fan boy or something, then I came across the video below. And I wanted to be even more emphatic about how much I love these guys, and their music and what I think they have done to promote blues and other blues musicians.
Again I could write thousands of words and still not describe how cool this video is.
But I think you can see the love that Muddy Waters had for the Stones and you can also see that they loved Muddy too.

Keith Richards - Life (Documentary Movie) Video
I don't want to gush, but I fucking love the music of the Rolling Stones, and Keith Richards in my opinion has a special place in heaven reserved for blues guitarist.
I would say more, but it is probably better if you just watch the videos and maybe check out the book.

Honkey Tonk Women - A Compilation
I've always loved the Rolling Stones song Honky Tonk Women and would include it on my list of songs to be stranded on a desert island with. If I could only have one song, but have it done by several different musicians, then this might just be the one song that I would pick.
The lyrics to the song are very simple, and easy to transcribe;
I met a gin-soaked, bar-room queen in Memphis
She tried to take me upstairs for a ride
She had to heave me right across shoulder
'Cause I just can't seem to drink you off my mind
It's the Honky Tonk Women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
I laid a divorcee in New York City
I had to put up some kind of a fight
The lady then she covered me with roses
She blew my nose and then she blew my mind
It's the Honky Tonk Women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
It's the Honky Tonk Women
Gimme, gimme...
Alright!
It's the Honky Tonk Women
Gimme, gimme, gimme the honky tonk blues
Yeah, it's the Honky Tonk Women
Gimme, gimme...
In the Stones version that opening cow bell is just too cool, and always gets me going, and ready for the guitars.
Taj Mahal does a stripped down version that is just wonderful to listen to. I really love how he starts out humming, kind of makes you think about the songs rhythm a bit more. And I just love the harmonica part (but you probably already guessed that).
Then there is the Ike and Tina Turner version of the song. Man the background singers are worth the price of admission for this one. I love it, talking about smoking hot!

Songs Of The Rolling Stones: All Blues'd Up!
While doing some research on a Rolling Stone's song I came across the mp3 album Songs Of The Rolling Stones: All Blues'd Up!.
I'm not sure how this album slipped under my radar, but I missed it back when it was released in July 9th, 2002.
And I would like to present it to you today, because I love how it highlights the blues music of the Rolling Stones and because their songs are performed by some great blues musicians.
