Big Day!

Today was my last day of school for the semester. It is so nice to be done. When asked if I feel like I have a lot more time, the answer NO! Not really--I still have a zillion things going on. The only thing that will slow down this summer is the class load, I will have two different workshop type things--one June 16-19 and one Jun 26-27. I'll still be working on the grant that I work on (although I hope to work a little less than I have been) and I'll still be a Mom of four, a wife to a cop working swing shift, the YW President....:-)

Today is also our 16th Wedding Anniversary. Wow, time sure flies. It's been a great ride--we've come a long way and are happier today than the day we were married. We were able to go out to dinner tonight and plan to spend a night at the Anniversary Inn in SL when baseball ends! (our Saturdays are booked from now until the middle of June). That's okay though--it's nice to have something to look forward to and it's better to plan it when we can enjoy the time away and not worry about missing something. Maybe we'll shoot for August--right before school starts.

We plan on taking pictures at Zach and Brynn's games tomorrow. We are sending Tanner with his coach because he and Zach play at the same time and Tanner's team is traveling out of the valley. We'll post some pics tomorrow. (Next week, we'll be sending Zach with a team mate and going to Tanner's game).

Brynn's Soccer Game

Okay, I brought the camera to the game and then the batteries die! That happens to me all the time! I think we need a new digital camera. Here is the one and only pic I got at Brynn's game. She was kicking off at the beginning. She really has fun running all over the field following the group as they all chase the ball. I love this age--they don't pass, they don't play positions, there are no goalies...it's just all about running around and kicking the ball whatever way you can kick it! She almost made a goal and had a diving block when the other team was making a shot---(too bad it wasn't really planned--just how she fell!!). It was fun. We'll get better pictures this weekend--the batteries are recharging!

By the way--(to all you Arizona folks or those living where it is warm)--it snowed here today! Notice how yesterday Brynn wore shorts to her game--it was a little chilly but not too bad and then today snow (although it's not sticking)! Yeah, we are all sick of it. We are hoping for a warm May. I guess there is one plus--we have been able to put off spring/summer clothes shopping for a while!

Saturday

We had our first Saturday of Superleague today and boy---was it a long one! It didn't help that I spent the night last night at our Stake Laurel Retreat. I left yesterday (after a killer test--my last test this semester-yeah) at 3:30 with the Junior and Senior girls. It was a fun activity--I didn't get to stay the whole time because they only wanted one leader there so my advisor and I split the time. I went Friday night and came home this morning after she got there. It worked out fine that I came home because we had FOUR baseball games and ONE soccer game today!

Brynn played in her second soccer game...(first was on Thursday). She made her first goal today! It was great, she even gave the other coach a high five. She was so proud, to the point that she got embarrassed from all the attention (from me, Mom and my sister Diana who happened to be in town). It is fun to finally watch her participate in something. I need to bring my camera to her next game on Wednesday.

Zach had two good games...they won both games. Tanner played in his first superleague games with the South Cache Cubs. His team didn't fare as well---they are a new group of kids just starting out and learning some new skills (leading off, balking, etc). Tanner pitched the first game and did well. He played catcher the second game until he got hurt on his knee with a foul ball. After that he went to first and did good there too. He came home saying "we played like the Cubs" with a smile--kindof a dig at Kaden who LOVES the Cubs!! It was funny--he is a good sport and knows that his team needs a lot of work!

One more week of class this semester--yeah! I'm so stressed with two pretty big projects (that I could have worked on today!). My last class is on Friday and things should slow down a little (too bad it's only a little). It's hard to believe the kids will be out of school in a little over a month. The weather here is not an indicator that school is almost over and summer is around the corner. Maybe soon?

No pictures today--we forgot our camera. I need to remember just to bring it everywhere I go!

Brynn's Funny Signs

Last Friday I went in to check on Brynn and found this first note on her floor....the following day I was in Kaden's room and I saw the second note. We all had a good laugh! She was looking for tape that night but I didn't know why and never gave her any. I didn't want to throw them away so I thought I'd scan them and post them here so we don't forget these funny times! I love when they start to spell things and write what is on their mind!

Zach's Debut with the South Cache Stallions

On March 31st, Zach tried out for a baseball team the South Cache Stallions. He found out that night that he made it and they would be playing in a tournament that weekend...April 4-5 in Twin Falls, ID. We made the mad rush to get all that he needed for his uniform that week and we headed to Twin. We weren't able to watch his games on Friday because of my class, so we traveled up Friday evening (sent him with a team mate) and stayed with friends in Burley. They lost the two games on Friday. On Saturday, they won their first game. Between the two games, we ran to the mall and had something to eat. When we got back to the second game, we scanned the field to see where #7 was playing.....I about fell off my seat when I saw him on the pitcher's mound! WOW, he had just told us that he didn't think he was ready to pitch before we dropped him off.

Okay, now for the proud mom post...for the past 4 years, Zach has played on a team where the coach never let him pitch. Previous to that coach, he pitched and he did quite well. (plus he is a lefty--a bonus). So, at the try out, the coach had Zach pitch a few. He told him to turn his hand this way and do it and wala--a curve ball. The coach was impressed and the next thing we know, he is pitching the game!! He ended up pitching the entire game and WINNING! It was so awesome (plus the coach who never pitched him was watching the game--his son is also on the Stallions).

What a proud moment for us!! He is really excited to be playing for the Stallions this year. He won't be playing the normal rec Pony league this year--which makes life a little easier on us! Tanner is playing on a Superleague team as well--South Cache Cubs and on a rec team. He has try outs for his rec team on Tuesday. He is excited to see what team he'll be on. Kaden will be playing machine pitch one more year (they moved the birthdate up to April 30--so you have to be 9 before April 30 to play up the next league). We are so happy that he gets to play machine pitch again. His coaches, the Tripletts will be coaching in Nibley because their son wasn't going to be able to play in Providence due to his birthday -- so Kaden will be playing with them in Nibley. He is looking forward to that starting.

Tanner, Kaden and Brynn are also signed up for Swimming lessons in August. Now we just need to get through the last weeks of school (luckily it's not even warm yet so no spring fever is setting in!! ha ha) and let the summer begin!

OH..Brynn has started soccer. Her first practice was Tuesday...she'll play in her first game next Thursday....should be fun!
I guess we have a great name for our blog--all we ever seem to talk about are sports!! We are busy with lots of other things as well!
