January 2013

I will catch up on this blog. I will. I really, really will.

Took Taygen to the doctor for her 9-month check-up on January 3rd, 2013.
She weighed in at 17 lbs. 7 oz. (20th percentile)
Length 27 inches. (40th percentile)

Taygen - 40 weeks old

Allary had Paige over to play over the Christmas Break. They wanted to paint their
finger nails and toe nails. (Yes, I made them cover everything with newspaper).

Moments like these make me tear up with pure joy. I love, LOVE, to look in a room
and see my two girls playing together. It means the world to me that they have each other.

I love her face in the photo (below)

So pleased to be feeding herself!

First tiny little hair-do.

You can see her two little bottom teeth in the above photo.

Taygen started laughing one evening as I was changing her into pajamas. I wasn't being
particularly funny, so I didn't know what was making her laugh. I then realized that my
fingers were brushing under her arms as I took off her shirt. I loved finding this super fun little
ticklish spot! Enjoy the video below.

The last of 2012

And to finish off the last of 2012...

This is Taygen's first bath in the sink, rather than in the infant bathtub thing.
She wasn't a huge fan, but as long as I kept her distracted with bath toys, she was alright.
Regardless, isn't she adorable??

Here is a recap of the big events of 2012, in the form of our Christmas letter I sent out...

Merry Christmas!
I genuinely love this time of year! I hope this letter finds you and your family happy, healthy, and enjoying this wonderful season as well.  2012 has been an exciting and eventful year for our family! Here’s a quick rundown of the big events...

  • In March, we added a new member to our family. Taygen Faith was born March 26th, healthy, beautiful, and so very loved. The pregnancy and delivery were miraculously smooth and problem-free. We are grateful to modern medicine, new research, and wonderfully skilled doctors.
  • In the first part of June, we were in a car accident. I dislike talking about it and even mentioning it here, as I was the driver of said accident, but it did lead us to another big life event...

  • We purchased our first mini-van! I love it! I really do. It’s like an elite club or secret society that I’ve wanted to be a part of for a long time. :)
  • Also in June (the day after we purchased our van), we were evacuated due to a wildfire very near to our home. This was a traumatic and terrifying experience I hope I never have to go through again. The stress and sheer panic of grabbing all that I could in 10 minutes, and the anxiety and worry for our home and belongings was indescribably intense. It was a good lesson and reminder of what’s truly important in life.  We are extremely grateful to the firefighters, and we feel very blessed to still have our beautiful home.
  • At the end of the summer, by order of new city ordinances, we had to put in our yard.  It was a whole lot of work for Jason and the many wonderful family and friend volunteers who pitched in to help us get it done. Although it wasn’t exactly our choice of timing, it is a big improvement over the dirt and weeds.
As for each of us, we are doing great! Jason is still working for Webb Audio Visual and continues to be successful there. He was recently given the new job title of “Director of Rental Operations.” He still travels a good deal and works crazy hours, but he enjoys what he does and excels at it. This year he’s worked with performers such as Donny Osmond, Warren Buffett, J.R. Martinez and Karina Smirnoff (from Dancing With the Stars), and countless others.  I keep better track than he does.
As for me, life is great!  I thank my Heavenly Father every day just for the chance to be a mom. There are days I do little else but hold and love on my sweet baby girl, and it’s the greatest thing ever.  I am grateful to be able to be a stay-at-home mom. I enjoy my two sweet girls so much!
Allary is 7 and in 1st grade now. She has really taken off with reading and writing. She is a girly-girl through and through. She thinks being a big sister is pretty awesome, and she’s great at it too.  She loves school, friends, pink, glitter, arts and crafts, candy, swimming, and dancing.  She entered her school’s “Reflections” art contest with a dance submission that she choreographed and danced, and she won!
Taygen will be 9 months old at the end of December.  It has been so fun to watch her little personality develop. I like to describe her as opinionated- she has very strong feelings either for or against most everything and has no problem voicing those opinions. She loves to be held and I love to hold her. She is crawling, pulling herself up, cruising along furniture, and getting into whatever she can get her hands on. She is growing up way too fast for my liking.  She is constantly showered with love and attention and adoration.
We are richly blessed and we count you, our family and friends, among our greatest blessings

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Love, The Spencer's

Christmas 2012

We spent Christmas 2012 in Richfield with Jason's family.

(Below) Allary went sledding in the snow, being towed behind the four-wheeler driven by Jason.
She loved it, and just wanted to keep going and going!

Christmas morning...

Taygen got a cute "LeapFrog" doggie toy from Grandma and Grandpa M. She loved it, despite the I'm-about-to-cry look on her face. :)

Allary, a Webkinz puppy from us.

Tay, a stuffed giraffe from Aunt Shelley's family.

Allary, Rapunzel doll, and nail polish set from cousin Ryan.

Allary, Zhu Zhu pony toy from Grandma and Grandpa M.

Tay got this adorable puffy vest from Grandma and Grandpa M.

Allary, necklace from Great Grandma and Grandpa S.

Tay, stuffed bear from Great Grandma and Grandpa S.

The girls with Great Grandma and Grandpa S.

Every year, we all get ornaments from Great Grandma and Grandpa S.
Taygen got a cute little snowman with her name and birthdate on it.

And Allary got a Disney Princess ornament.

Here are the girls with all their Christmas spoils...

And we got some stuff too...

It was a wonderful Christmas!

Allary's letter to Santa.
"Dear Santa, I really would like more dizzy dancers. And I would also want a glow dome too, and art stuff. Please. Merry Christmas Santa. From Allary."

Standing up! Getting so big!

Making Christmas treats. (a.k.a. dipping stuff in chocolate)

We took the girls to see Santa at the outlet stores.

Allary's Christmas Sing-in at the school.

We went to see the Elves at Gardner Village.

Also in December...Taygen first pulled herself up to a standing position. (12/2/12)
Taygen cut her second tooth (12/3/12)
At the beginning of the month, Taygen started doing "So Big!" (We say "How big is Taygen?" and she throws her arms up in the air as we say "Soooo big!")
