Concert Reportage - Bilal Rockstar
This was such a worthy performance at the Roots Holiday Jammy at BBkings in New York. Bilal was a performer that night with no inhibitions or posing. He just saaaaaaaaaaaang. He whipped the Roots band into excitement and he gave of his talent in so many unexpected way. He even had the tuba(big ass tuba)player getting down, dancing and swinging all over the stage. This is while he was playing too. It was roots, rock, and spiritual allllll in one. And to think it was all free. Estelle, Qtip, Tanya Morgan, Alice Smith(she only did one song and its was so powerful and that snarl in her lips when she hits those notes), Talib Kweli, Res, 88Keys and (Robert Glasper and James Poyser on the keys) and Pharoah Monch were all there. But it was Bilal night that night.

I let this one out
this photo is special because it says something about the man in it and the images of the men behind him. They all have one thing in common ... and that is charting their own path. So here is to individuality.
