Tick-tock

Just realized the other day that there is not one clock
in my apartment.

I would take either of the ones pictured above.

Or both.

That would be good too.

Concert and Internet!

I had the most crazy-busy weekend I've had in a long time.

And HOT????? OMG, it was hot this weekend.

Started off the weekend by arriving at Little Pissy's house around 4 p.m. Friday to a cadre of roofers swarming all over her house and the temperature inside her house 82 degrees downstairs and 90 degrees upstairs.

Yep.

The air went out.

I won't go into all the gory details, but it was not fun.

We left the roofers and the hot house and went to the concert.

Where it was miserably hot and not a breeze was stirring.

I've never seen so many sweaty white people in my life. (after taking a big look around we determined that there were exactly 3 people of color at the concert. 5 if you count me and Little P)

I'm still too tired to go into all the details of the rest of the weekend, but luckily my cable guy arrived today at 12:30. Yea!

So I was able to upload some pictures.

They aren't very good, but it gives you an idea of the crowd and as an added bonus: what I look like with bad hair, sweaty, tired and wearing some funky glasses.

Update!!!

Okie dokie.

I have to admit it.

I changed my appointment with Comcast to Monday.

I know, right?!?!?

I bitched and moaned and then I went and changed it.

Had to..... my oldest daughter had surgery Monday and I've been taking care of her since then. I honestly thought she'd be feeling better by now and would be able to be at home...hanging out....waiting for the cable guy.  But I'm not.  I'm at her house.  But it's cool.  She's more important (duh).

Comcast offered to come install on SUNDAY.

Seriously?  Sunday?

I told them that Monday would be fine.

In other news:  I'm going to a Doobie Brothers and Bad Company concert tonight at Chastain Park.  Little Pissy was gifted with some tickets and invited me.  Woot!  I'm pumped!  I've never seen either band in concert and never been to Chastain before, so EXCITED!!!

Then...in other (not-so-good news):  I'm having a root canal on Thursday.  ACK!!!!!!!  I've only ever had one root canal and it was NOT a pleasant experience.  Hoping this one is better....  :(

I'm REALLY hoping I feel well enough to go to the Braves vs. Red Sox game the next night (Friday). Even though I've spent so much time in Atlanta the past few years, I haven't been to a Braves game in 14 years!  Crazy!

Hope you're all doing well and staying cool in this crazy hot weather!

Love this view and still no internet

View from the snack bar at the Target in Atlantic Station

*Sigh*

Isn't that view pretty?

I need a job as a cashier at that Target so I could enjoy that view everyday on a regular basis and get paid for it. :)

I'm having the. worst. time. with Comcast!!!!

Good grief! Just give me what I ordered!!!!!!!!!!!

ahem...

alrighty.

Won't bore y'all with the details, just suffice it to say that I STILL don't have internet at my apartment nor do I have dvr. I'm now scheduled to have everything installed this Friday, the 19th between 11 and 2.

We shall see.

Just want y'all to know that is a big part of the reason I haven't been by many blogs.

Surfing blogs on a blackberry just isn't the same. :(

Only three pictures

because my camera is at Little Pissy's house.

Took these with my blackberry, then emailed them to myself so I could tweak 'em in Picasa.

There's probably an easier way to do it, but I don't know of one.

Anyway....here are pictures of some of my newest favorite things.

These little canvases from Target were part of fabulous
housewarming gift from Little P.
You can see my bedroom in the background.
(*note*"bedroom" is actually the dining room, but I'd
much rather have a bedroom than a dining room.
Call me crazy.)

close-up of pillow I found on Etsy
Y'all already know that I'm "Queen Bee"
of my own little world, right?

fun little Moroccan lantern I bought
at Z Gallerie for $8 bucks, next to favorite white vase
with hydrangeas from D's back garden
on top of teeny half round
table I found at Decatur Estate.

That may have been my longest run-on sentence EVER.

I'm having fun so far. :)

A Moment in Driving History

Yesterday I was on my way back from Little Pissy's house in Alparettha to my apartment in Decatur.

I'd never made that drive before.

Of COURSE there was an accident on I-285 and traffic slowed down to 14 miles per hour. That's good for Atlanta. At least we were still moving.

So....the traffic jam passes the accident site and things speed up again.

I knew to be on the look-out for US 78, which would take me to Decatur.

I'm tooling along at 70 mph....talking on the phone.....looking around...and what do I see?

The exit I need to take less than a half mile ahead.

4 lanes away from me to the right.

Without really thinking I looked in my mirror and over my right shoulder. By some miracle the lanes were clear (more or less) so I FLEW across the 4 lanes of traffic and made my exit.

I have honestly never done anything like that before.

Once I made it off the interstate and realized what I'd just done, I trembled for about a half hour.

I'm pretty sure that episode qualifies me as an official resident of Atlanta.

700th post?!?!? Seriously????

and for such an auspicious occasion what do I post?

Why, a photo of my new and newly decorated cubbies from Ikea.

Love 'em don't 'cha?

oh, and next to the cubbies is my
$49 dollar wicker dining chair also from Ikea.

C'mon.

You can't expect much of a post at 1:14 a.m.
after I've been at the Earth Wind and Fire/Chicago concert
since 7:00 pm. can you?

(don't ask me why that test above the picture is underlined because I have NO idea)
