My New Found Love!

I bought a new sewing machine.

Juki HZL-G220

Oh my goodness, it’s a dream sewing on Juki. My basic Brother sewing machine is leaving me for my mother.

So many projects to make but so little time….

Been wanting to make a backpack using corduroy that I bought from Chinatown. Just gonna leave the Youtube link here, just in case if I get to it.

I know that it will not be perfect but we are meant to cover up each other shortcomings. Also forgive me if I'm not the perfect wife that u wanted me to be. I hope that you love me for who I am and all my shortcomings.

I was reading this blog http://www.beadingdaily.com/blogs/daily/archive/2013/05/27/do-you-keep-a-beading-journal.aspx
It is about keeping a beading journal of the projects that I have done. So now I'm trying to dig back all the beading projects that I have done and will try my best to post it. Here's a start:

The Day Amrina Rashada Arrive

It's been 25 days since I had Amrina Rashada. I am thankful to be given a 2nd chance to conceive another child. Amrina Rashada born on 25 June 2013 and Shahid Ul-Haque born on 26 June 2012. Every incident always have its blessings. Amrina came early so that I would not be sad with the demise of Shahid. Allah gave us family happiness when she was out early on her 37 weeks.

During pregnancy, I had to endure with my stomach acid reflux. I had chronic coughs every night, depriving me from sleep. Waking up the next day being a zombie. Despite all the checks by the doctors and medications, I had to take a long MC as well as early maternity leave due to lack of rest.

Came the day when I had contractions, I still remember clearly. It was on 24 June 2013. That morning I went to NUH to ask for referral letter to go for early maternity leave. The doctor wanted me to scan the baby but I resist. She persist saying that they do not have any information on the baby's growth and need to know how is she so that they can advice when am I supposed to deliver my baby. I was really reluctant but the doctor said that if I do not go for the scan then they cannot issue the referral letter. I felt that the doctor was threatening me with the scan. I had to oblige with my husband's advice. When I first saw her on the screen, I felt tears in my eyes thinking that Allah has given us a huge blessing and how fortunate we are. I saw her legs, arms and her face, then I ask the about her heart whether she is alright. According to the checks she is ok but because I did not went for my monthly checks they could not really ascertain that her heart is ok. I prayed really hard for her to be healthy and well.

I went home in a taxi with mixed feelings. That night at about 11 plus, I started to feel a bit of contractions. One week before my husband told me to stay with my mum just in case the baby came early. Luckily I heed his advice. My mum saw my face turning white and I called my husband at work to stand by and told him to come back from work the usual time. I thought to myself that this contraction is going to be long judging from the pregnancy I had with Danisha.

I could not sleep. The first few contractions is about 45 minutes apart, then it became 30 minutes. By 4am it is 15 minutes apart and by this time I panic. I sms husband to come home straight. I got ready waiting for him. I remember the contractions was really painful. At 5.30am husband called and ask how am I, my mum said where are you and he mention that he still at work and could only be back by 6 plus. It was too late, by this time the contraction reduced to 10 minutes apart. My mum woke my dad up to send me to hospital. I was walking slowly to the carpark while waiting for my dad and that's when my waterbag broke. Oh no! This is no good, I cannot get to the hospital in my dad's car. What happened if in the middle I need to give birth. By this time the pain was really really aggravated and that is when I decided to call the ambulance.

I walked back slowly to the house and waited for the ambulance which came 5 minutes later. The paramedics asked some questions and wanted to transfer me to the stretcher and that's when the pain came. It was beyond description, lasted for 60 seconds but seems like forever. My previous 2 pregnancy I had epidural so this was really out of this world for me.

When they finally wheel me in the ambulance, I was screaming in pain. I was given the laughing gas. I inhaled as deeply as possible to make the pain go away but it didn't. The paramedic was telling me that if they cannot make it in time, I had to be delivered in the ambulance. I could really feel the urge to push but the paramedic asked me to breathe.

Finally when they reached the A & E at NUH, the doctors asked me the same questions and asked me to be wheel to the delivery suite at Level 2. Imagine the pain I had to endure on the way to the delivery suite with the contractions 2-3 minutes apart. When the nurses received me at the delivery suite, I asked for the laughing gas. I did not care but inhaled the gas as much as possible wanting the pain to go away. The last I heard from the nurse that I was dilating 8cm before I temporary passed out.

When I opened my eyes, I saw the midwife asking me to push. I pushed the 1st round and when I stopped, the pain was still there and I pushed the 2nd time. I could feel Amrina's head wanting to come out, so I gave the last push and she was out crying. I was so happy that she cried. At that point of time my husband just arrived to receive Amrina. I was so thankful that she was alright. She was placed on my chest and I held her crying. It was a moment that I never had with Shahid. I felt so small and humbled that I was given another chance. Alhamdulillah....

It was the most painful experience for me but it was the shortest labour for me. I kept asking myself how did I survive through all that without my husband. Allah will always test His servants within their capabilities, that is why I could survive all that pain. For now, I would try as much to cherish the time I have with Amrina and Danisha until I return work in August.

Dubai Trip 19 - 23 March 2012

This is long overdue. Supposed to get this done after I got back from Dubai. One word - Lazy! Been like that during my pregnancy, just wanted to lie around, being a couch potato, doing nothing.

What I can remember about Dubai:

  1. I had an aching flight to and fro. I got backache and my legs were aching too due to sitting too long in the plane. I also had 'salah urat' (not sure how to say it in English) on my right leg on 1st day of Dubai.
  2. We (myself & RedOpium) nearly did not get a room in the hotel. All because of Zuji, they didn't make a hotel reservation under our name. I was stressed, not sure about RedOpium. But imagined after 7 hours of flight, all you want to do is snooze.. Time difference between Singapore and Dubai - it is 4 hours earlier there. After several attempts to raise my voice at the Zuji customer service officer, we got ourselves a room. RedOpium said never again we gonna book our trip at Zuji.com.sg.
  3. I was pregnant about 5 months, carrying Shahid. It was our first and last trip with him.
  4. Dubai is expensive. Thought I can survive that 5 days with 800SGD but I was super wrong. It is a shopper paradise but pricing wise, it is about the same what you get in Singapore.
  5. Having said that it is expensive, I liked Dubai because it is a Middle East country and because of that there are halal food everywhere. From the Carl's Junior to Subway to New York Fries - it's halal!! In Singapore, we has to register for a halal certificate. In Dubai, they have to produce certificate if they were to sell alcohol or pork. Cool huh? Also there malls have prayer rooms which is like a hall and every time when there is a call of prayer, it will be played on there speakers around the mall and the shops have to tone down their music. RedOpium really liked the prayer hall especially the prayer mats or carpet they have, he said when he sujud, the carpet was soft that it was comfortable for his head.
  6. I am under the impression that the locals or Emiratis are very rich. Why do I say that. Because everywhere I go I see foreigners, when we take the public transport like the metro (same like MRT) we see a lot of foreigners but not the locals. They will either have cars or call for taxis. I will only see them in the shopping malls.. Hmm..Good life..
So this is what I remembered about Dubai, my next few posts I will upload pictures taken at Dubai and will try to remember our itinerary for our 5 days stay there.

Hiatus

It's been a while since I've written. I gave birth to a baby boy on 26 June 2012, however Shahid passed away on 28 June 2012. I'm really thankful for having him, carrying him throughout the 34 weeks and having to see him even for 2 days. Though sometimes, I am saddened that he is not with us today, I have great comfort that he is in a better place. Insyallah, I will meet him again.

I had thought to write about my experience having to stay at KKH for 10 days but it was too personal for me. The next post will be our visit to Dubai. It been quite a while, so I will just be posting pictures and try to describe them.

Working with Idiots can Kill You!

I had a terrible day and yes I'm exaggerating.

But it is just me or Singaporean has become more demanding. I'm finding that the more educated they are, the higher their egos.

You can really fight with me over book even when I promise you that I will get it from another library for free!

You people are full of crap!

Pattaya Day 5, 1 April 2011

Not much to do at Pattaya on Day 5. It's the day we are leaving this country. At last, we are going home.

As per normal, we had brunch at Soi 11 with 2 fried kuayteaw, tom yum soup and chicken omelette which add up to 290 baht. Gonna miss the eating place.

We returned to the hotel, switching channel and chilling until 1145. We will be catching our plane at 1625 so the taxi gonna pick us up at 1200. It will take 2 hours to the airport.

Until then, see you in Singapore.

Pattaya Day 4, 31 March 2011

It's my birthday and I miss Danisha a lot. Truthfully, I cannot wait to get home.

Again the agency could not bring us island hopping as there are reports of rough seas. We had breakfast at Soi 11 and claim our refund at the agency.

We agency recommended us to go to nong nooch tropical gardens for 650 baht per person. We thought why not since we don't have any plans for the rest of the day. We signed up for it and ask to come back to the agency for the coach to pick us up.

We had a walk at the beach and had a foot reflex by the beach. It was cold and the venue was so shiok for a message. Love it! We got Starbucks (again!) at Central Festival and returned back to the agency to board the coach.

Journey actually took 25 minutes but the coach went from hotel to hotel to pick up the rest of the tourist. We got to the garden and took loads of pictures, saw a cultural show and elephant show. Overall the place is pleasant and worth a visit.

We ended our day by visiting the Muslim community at Sumkumvit Pattaya Road, Soi 9. We had over dinner there and 'tapau' chicken wings and some bread. Our dinner cost 90 baht which is 2 fried rice and drinks.

We retired back to our hotel after a long day and caught 'Inception' on the local cable.

Pattaya Day 3, 30 March 2011

We were supposed to go island hopping today but due to unforeseen circumstances, the agency postponed to tomorrow.

So we had to move the itinerary for Day 4 to today. We had breakfast at Pattaya Klang, Soi 11. Normal dishes - fried rice with tom yum soup.

We took Songtheaw to Easy Kart and had 3 session of go kart. It is quite pricy. For beginner course, it is 550 baht for 8 minutes and advanced course is 1200 baht for 16 minutes. It was an exciting ride bumping with each other on the track. Of course RedOpium clocked in the best time.

Again we decided to go to the Outlet Mall Phrase 2, which is nearby the first outlet mall that we went the day before. It carries label like Espirit, Fox, Quicksilver and Triumph.

After shopping we went to the Avenue shopping centre which does not have loads to stuff to see, so we hang around the Starbucks for a while. We walked along the beach and ended up at Walking Street. It has a lot of bars so there was not much that we can do.

Feeling hungry, we hailed a Songtheaw and headed to South Pattaya Road where there is a halal restaurant. We ordered chicken wings, fried rice, tom yum soup with kuayteaw and shrimp omelette which amount to 210 baht.

Then we headed to Central Festival shopping centre for a while and proceed back to the hotel.
