Today i witnessed the failure of civics and moral education that is being taught in schools.
How much time students waste on those lessons that are non beneficial or rather, useless.
My visit to the Jurong library today has proved my point. Reaching at 11am, my sister and I already knew that it was almost impossible to find seats. We went all the way to the 4th floor and wow! two seats! Everything was perfectly fine until i went buy ourselves some snacks from the vending machine. 5 mins later, my seat was taken. The conversation between the person A and my sister went like this:
person: hi. is there anyone seating here?
sister: yes.
(person grabs chair and walks away)
Isn't it sick how the basic courtesy of asking was there but the chair got taken anyway?
Being left with only one chair, we decided to settle ourselves on the floor nearby. A while later, there were 2 seats again. Sat at the seats for an hours or two and that's when my sister needed to visit the toilet. Being afraid of the same thing happening again, i put my bottle on the chair to show its taken. 5 seconds after my sister left the seat, person B came and SNATCHED the chair from me. SNATCHED as in really pulling it hard. My bottle of course, fell onto the ground. In my state of shock, i stared at her but she pretended it was nothing and didn't even bother to apologize. I continued the staring and her boyfriend was actually the one to apologize on her behalf. The conversation of person B with her boyfriend(BF) went like this:
BF: why u take her chair?
Person B: nobody sitting on it what....
BF: But still cannot take what.....
Person B: but nobody was sitting on it!
(stares at each other)
(continue staring)
(BF gives in)
My sister comes back and a gave my seat to her. I got really pissed off that i didn't want to study anymore. So we left at 5 pm. 15 minutes after the incident.
I was angry so i went down first. When my sister came down, she said she had helped me take revenge. haha! their conversation went like this:
sister: i'm sorry, but it was very rude of you to take the chair without asking.
person B: (shouts) SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!
(people around stares at her)
sister: i'm not scolding you. i'm just telling you that you should ask.
person B: (shouts) SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!
(people continue staring)
sister: it's basic courtesy....
person B: (shouts) SHUT UP AND GO AWAY!
SISTER: bitch.
(sister walks away)
Basically my sister was politely talking to her, but she shouted throughout. Causing alot of commotion. On our way home, the more we thought about it the funnier i got. It's like the person had no other vocabulary and felt she was losing out so she raised her voice.
Seriously, going through these two incidents really made me mad. But it should make the government more mad to know they wasted so much effort to teach civics and moral education only to nurture people like this. To all who have read this. If you have friends who are like this, please tell them to STOP BEING SUCH A BITCH! AND LEARN SOME VOCAB! LOL!
