Decision-making made harder
My bathroom is tiny. Counter space is nonexistant and cabinet space is a jumble. So I've set my sights on getting a tray to stash all my make-up in. I can keep it on my dresser in the bedroom, and prettify myself in front of my dresser mirror. Now all I need is the perfect vintage tray, but etsy makes it so hard! Here's some recent temptations:
One that Kristen would adore from deadbirdfinds.
Great color from lorenzstudio.
From YouAreYou.
From GreyBrocketsHome.
Tiny and adorable from scottishart.
From KitschNCollectibles.
And I should buy one of these, but as a vintage seller myself, I can't resist the challenge to go find something pretty and unique myself. However, that green one is SO tempting.

In the fashion.
Lovely collage work by Cafe Baudelaire. I could say a lot of things about these, but really here is what I feel: jealousy that this isn't my shop. Also check out Mulberry Muse, her line of stationery.

Shopping New York.
This is a bit of a different sort of post for me, but my hope is that it may prove useful to someone. We all know that yes, there are many great shops in New York. But on a recent work trip I had the chance to go in several amazing places that I've never heard of before, so I wanted to give them a mention here in case you might want to add it to your list the next time you are in the city.
1. Blue Tree
(uptown, 1283 Madison Ave, New York, NY 10128)
This little shop is owned by Phoebe Cates (of Gremlins fame) and is, in my mind, the exact sort of place that I'd like to own one day. They carry a fabulous assortment of offbeat jewelry, including the lovely "Give You The Moon" collection, designed for the shop by Phoebe Cates and Pablo Valencia (and also sold at Nieman Marcus, etc). The collection starts with a simple sterling necklace with a round charm stamped with "The Moon." The idea is that you then add on other charms with other things you would like to "give" the recipient (or yourself): "the stars," "superpowers," "1,000,000 kisses," "unconditional love," "a good night's sleep," and so on. The effect is absolutely wonderful: sweet without being sappy.
2. ABC Carpet & Home
(Flatiron, 888 & 881 Broadway, New York, NY 10003)
You might think from the unassuming name that this is some sort of discontinued carpet warehouse. Well, no. It is 6 floors of amazing home décor items, gifts (jewelry, books, etc), textiles, bedding, furniture. Imports. Vintage & antiques too. Their displays are breathtaking (merchandising a la Anthropologie) and the space is broken up into smaller boutiques so the experience is not overwhelming.
2. Fishs Eddy
(Flat Iron, 889 Broadway at 19th Street, NYC 10003)
Located across the street from the above, this fun shop has the coolest dinnerware & glassware you will find. Themes include maps, skylines, floorplans, Alice in Wonderland, pets, alphabets, Pantone colors, etc. I fell in love with a cheese plate that looked like a sheet of looseleaf paper (holes and all!).
