Kajsa & Brynn

Welcome Home Brynn Mia Östhed!!!

Last night we got to bring home Brynn! We were so excited that she was doing better and are glad to have her home. When we got home we introduced Brynn to her big sister. We couldn't have asked for a better response from Kajsa. She fell in love with her little sister instantly. We sat on the couch for a family picture and Kajsa was so excited to hold Brynn.

Kajsa had such a serious face when she was holding her and she was being so gentle with her. For anyone who would have seen this happen, it would have just melted your heart. I thought she would have been done holding her after a couple minutes, but she would not let me even attempt to re-adjust Brynn's position in fear that I would take her away.

She kept leaning her face to touch Brynn's face. It was so cute to see how loving she was.

We realize that we were blessed to take Brynn home only after a few days. It is hard sometimes when things don't go as planned.

Brynn Update

So here are some details from the last couple of days. It seems like it's been just one long day since Brynn was born, so these are as accurate as we can remember.

Monday
- Brynn's breathing rate was a little lower overall. The doctor did another chest x-ray. There is still fluid, but no antibiotics needed yet. We were able to hold Brynn, with cords attached, and that was nice. Kajsa was finally able to see her little sister through the NICU window; she was a little unsure about that, but said "baby" and pointed to Sara's stomach. Maybe she's understanding a little of what's going on.

Tuesday Morning - They took Brynn off of the IV last night. The doctor told us that if Brynn remains stable, then MAYBE we can take her home tonight! That made us really excited, but we're trying to not get our hopes up. Before we left, they moved her back to her bassinet. So things seem to be going in the right direction. We will keep you updated as often as we can get to a computer.

It's A Girl!!!

Our new little princess is here! Brynn Mia Östhed was born on February 9, 2008 at 19:58 pm. She was 8 lbs, 4 oz and 20 inches long. Brynn shares her birthday with her father's great-grandmother, Gertrud Johansson. The nurses said she was a perfect pink. Of course we knew that she was perfect already.

We found out on Sunday that she had taken in some fluid in her lungs from the delivery, which was causing her to have an increased breathing rate. Because of this, they kept her in the nursery all day for monitoring. This made Sunday a little long because we wanted to hold our new baby, but couldn't.

They may start giving her antibiotics, but they are currently just waiting to see if her vitals improve on her own. So hopefully they do and we'll be able to take her home sometime soon. We'll keep you posted on any updates.

Come Baby Come!!!

Well, if any of you have noticed, the countdown is coming to a close soon! My due date is on Sunday and so far no baby yet. My doctor said that I am just one of those that doesn't deliver early, but has a healthy baby! I guess I will take that! Since I don't really feel like going too far over my due date, we scheduled me to be induced on Wednesday the 13th. Hopefully this will help the baby to decide to come before then! :) (cross my fingers) That is how it went with Kajsa and it all went well. Simon thinks it is because we haven't decided on the name 100% yet. We have it narrowed down to a few different combinations, so we totally aren't decided. We will just wait to see her cute little face! But for now, we will just keep on waiting for her to come.
