I finally finish reading my book hat i bought eons ago.. 'Hot, Flat and Crowded' by Thomas Friedman. Haha. Have been reading religiously the whole afternoon. These days I can't really muster the energy and discipline to seat down and read quietly. Haha. The book is good in he sense that it gives me a very fresh perspective to the environmental issues that bug he very world that we live in to day. Aha. However beware, the book is like 400 pages of words, words and more words. Haha. If u're not overly enthusiastic about about the environment, then i guess this book is pure torture to read. Haha.

Alright today's all about chilling out at home. Family thing. Haha. Oh my mum just brought my out to shop. Haha. I guess she needs someone to accompany her to shop, but me, my bro and my dad are not overly enthusiastic about shopping. Haha. Read alot about maid abuse in Singapore. I really do not understand why some employers ill-treat their maids. Maids or domestic employees todays are part and parcel of many people's lives these days. Today, the cost of living is high so dual-income families are crucial. So these domestic helpers take care of the household to give us a peace of mind at work. Hence, why go to the extent of not giving them enough to eat, or being stingy about the food he maid consumes, or wear, or whatever superficial issues? They too are humans and they are already paid measly, as compared to normal Singaporeans! So give them greater leeway and not only would you feel happier, but it lowers your chances of getting strokes and high blood pressures! It is already very stressful at work, so why make life at home so terrible too? Haha.

Alright, I guess thats enough rambling for the day. It feels damn nice and comfortable to be sitting with the laptop in front of you, the TV on, in an air-conditioned room belonging to you.. haha. It's like your heaven. No one disturbs - peace. Haha. I love it. Thats THE life. Haha.

Yesterday went out with TMS people. Haha. Went to celebrate Li Wen's birthday cum X'mas celebration. Haha. 1st went to meet john and crystal at Cityhall.. Supposed to meet them to buy Li Wen's B'day present and Jiaxin's X'mas gift. Haha. I(or rather WE) was tooo lazy to go out the last couple of days to get the present. Haha. So that explains the last min shop for gifts. Haha. Anyways I was CONNED. Haha. They only told me to meet to buy present, but I ended up going with them to SCIENCE CENTRE! LOL! Who goes to science centre on their birthdays sia. Haha. But coz yesterdays's the 26th of december, our dear liwen's the biggest. Haha. Her secret desire to go science centre was met! Anyways, yah.. So me, john, liwen, meiying, jiaxin, crystal, and 3 of liwen's JC friends, yijie, qiqi and I'm sorry I can't remember the last person name, went to the science centre. Oh my, I've been going to weird places these days. Anyway, it was alright. Army does wonders. Haha. It trains me to carry heavy loads for long distances.. Perfect! Haha. Me and john, being the only 2 guys there, were like bellboys. Haha. Out of courtesy, it's only right that we carry everything. Haha. But everything is ALOT of things man. Haha. Alright, I shouldn't and wouldn't continue rambling away about the loads of stuff these gals bring along. Haha.

Alright, after that we went Holland V. Haha. Has been quite some time since I've gone there. haha. Anyway, 1st went Starbucks there to chill out. Haha. The Starbucks there is damn niceee. Haha. Not that many people and the ambience is perfect. Haha. Love it there. Haha. Waited for the other guys to make their way there. Met up with Choon Wei, Chris and Kang Sheng before going Crystal Jade La Mian Xiao Long Bao at Holland V. Alright we ate ALOT! Haha It's buffet u c. Haha. Steamboat plus Tim Sum.. Haha. It was nice at 1st.. but after alot of food, it becomes dreadful. Haha. Anyway had a great time there! Haha. Exchanged gifts for X'mas too. Haha. Happy occasion.

Alright, after that meal that busted my daily calorie intake, I went to run today! Haha. Went to run with my dad at East Coast Park. Ran a good 10km! Haha. Nice. Burn off all those fats. Haha. Haven't run in a week le.. but guess my stamina was fine. Did it in around an hour or so. Haha. Weather was great too. Running along, I get to enjoy the sea breeze, the aroma of the BBQ there, and the crowd. Haha. ECP was as usual that crowded to day. AHha. Nice to enjoy some fresh air, especially in todays urban environment, where cars fill up the roads and produce tonns and carbon dioxide. Haha. Feel so refreshed now. haha. Almost a week of my break gone le. But I guess it was pretty well spent. Haha. Now to enjoy the next half of my break! Haha. Chow! =D

Has been quite a while since i blogged. Alright the holiday season is here and yes! I'm having my long awaited and well deserved break from army regimentation. Haha. Ok last week was 01/06 class gathering! Haha. Has been almost a year since we had a class gathering with such good turnout. Haha. Met up for dinner at Vivocity. Ate at Earle Swensons. Haha. The food was good. But what was better was the company! Haha. Chatted alot. Remember those crappy slacky JC days. Haha. Makes me miss those days of fun and mugger-ish-ness. Haha. Alright after that we went cam-whoring at the top of vivo with the HUGE christmas tree.

Haha. It was mad. Everyone seems to be high even tho they weren't high on alcohol. Haha. Lovely. Anyways after that a few of us went to watch Twilight at GV. Haha. The movie wasn't as good as i expected. WHERE WAS ALL THE ACTION!? Haha. Anyways it's forgiven coz I was in an exceptionally good mood. Haha. Great. After that its was pretty late le, so i cabbed back with john and cui xia. HAha. It was the perfect gathering to kick start my holidays. HAha.

Alright. Then last Sunday, my good old friend came to visit me. Haha. Long time never see him le. When I was in secondary school he used to visit my home with my cousin like ever so often. Haha. Miss those days. Anyways had a good long chat. He was worried about his future and education paths so gave him some advice and all. After that had a good meal at home with my family. Haha. Then came the event i hate the most. BOOK IN! LOL

Today was another fun-filled day. Haha. I am sooo sorry to my bunkmates and my BMT platoon mates coz i pangseh-ed them all today! Haha. Supposed to meet up with Zulu PLT 4 ppl for lunch and MSU support guys for dinner today but yea, couldn't make it. Haha. Sorry guys, I will make up to u guys another day! Ahah. Anyways to day was the visit to the ZOO! Haha. It has been a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time since i last visited the Zoo. HAha. Today was supposedly to celebrate Yewei's commissioning as an OFFICER, make up for his birthday on tuesday since we couldn't go out then, and yes, wanyee's sudden urge to go to the Zoo. Oh and it's damien's 1st visit to the Zoo! Haha (coz he's Malaysian u see.. )Alright the day started with everyone calling our dear dahlia to wake up in the morning. Me and yewei like call her multiplw times but she never pick up the phone! Evil. So we thought she was still asleep. Haha. It's expected. But our ever so persistent john called her for like 20 over times before she bothered to pick up! Haha. And to everyone's surprised, she was already awake! Amazing! Haha. She was just too lazy to pick up the phone. Haha. Alright so I first went to meet yewei at bedok b4 going to meet wanyee, dah, john and damien at AMK. Haha. Believe it or not, this is my 1st time to AMK MRT station. Haha. Alright, everyone was pretty much on time. (once again to my surprise. I've known these guys for 3 yrs le and they are NEVER on time. Haha. ) Ok, next we took bus 138 to the Singapore Zoological Gardens!

Great place. Havent been there for eons le. Everything has changed le! Haha. The tix are pretty ex tho. $23 for admission plus unlimited tram ride. But alright they are worth it for a day of fun and laughter. Haha. Took lots of photos. Yes Lots of them. See my facebook for them. HAha. Its was really fun but yea all the walking and laughing made my legs ache and tummy growl at the end of the trip. Haha.

So yea, after that we went on to CityHall where we 5 hungry people went to chomp at Hotpot culture at Marina Square. Haha. Ate so much i wanted to puke. And John and Yewei can really eat man! Haha. Steamboat Buffets are always the most interesting. Coz it gives us time to chit chat while enjoying unlimited flow of food and dessert. Yum! Haha. U know it feels great to be able to sit down and have a good meal with a group of good friends. Really enjoyed it man. Haha. Buddies for life! Haha. So thats about it for now. I'm busy uploading tonns of photos that we've taken today! Haha. Dahlia u must really thank me ok! ahha. And john I'm too lazy to send u the photos. U get them from facebook k! Ahha. =D

Boring week. Booked out on sat morning coz I returned to PLC like 1 am or something only. One of the rare few times. It's gonna be next week too. Quite sian actually. Anyway training in Amoy Quee was pretty sian. Maybe because this is the 3rd time I'm doing the same thing. First At Selarang camp, then at Mandai Hill Camp. Lol. And I'm in Coy HQ so there's practically nothing much to do for now, until CME comes. That would be more fun. Haha. Then again it's like the best job u can get. Although there are some tough times too. Haha. It's like that. When it gets tough one would complain and wish there was less to do. But when it's overly slack, one would complain and wish there was something to do. Haha. Ironic isn't it? But I've gotta admit. Time really passes faster when there's something to do. Haha. Friday was damn sian. The 'A' Coy HQ VCs and operators were slacking our lives away in the stoopid tonner. OMG. It's damn sianz. Really. For once I really wished I was out there in the jungle doing something. LOL. Add on some drama at SGC later that night and the day is totally ruined. Haha. Simple isn't it. *Pukes*.

Anyways this week everyone seems to be busy. The Uni kids are having their exams. NS guys all like book out late too. Haha. Damn sad weekend. LOL. I'm freaking degrading in NS. No idea what to do with my life now.

Oh and bro's birthday's coming. Gotta get something for him next weekend.

Oh and i read through One of my favourite singer 林宥嘉's 神秘嘉賓 lyrics. Found the lyrics to be pretty interesting. It's very metaphorical in nature. It literally depicts a person's life as a stage. A performance. A journey. Sounds cliche but hey, it does work sometimes.

It's an apt description of life I guess. New people enter and leave one's life at various points in life and each and everyone contributes to the excitement and passion of life. I guess everyone has to move on no matter what happens and yes, we control our own lives. Not god. Not your parents. Not anyone else. It's nice to have such songs that make one reflect on life once in a while. Makes NS more passable. Gives people some sense of hope. Haiz. That's life.

Oh damn gotta book in later.

SIAN-NIFIED.

1st week back to camp. I guess I've been quite accustomed to sleeping outfield already. Although the bunk is superbly clean relative to my tent in Oz, I quite prefer the weather there, the nice comfy sleeping bag, and everything. Haha. Oh well. Anyways I DO NOT need to go New Zealand. So damn glad. Was like a foot into the plane already. Haha. Anyways just thankful. Alright. What else happened in camp? Hmm.. Oh yes. The new specs that came in. Yea they are from my batch. Omg Brendan Goh is Nic's VC! LOL. Remember the BMT days... yikes! Haha. It's sooo gonna be interesting to watch. Oh and my new VC's pretty nice. Haha. That's for now bahz. Haven't shown their true colours yet.. Tsk tsk.. Alright nothing much happened in camp. Has been a rather monotonous week. Guess things would get more interesting when we go to Amoy Quee Camp next week. Haha.

Have been rather lethargic all week long. Anyways, just wanna rest this weekend. Haha. Have been back tracking and reading my past entries. Realised this blog is more than 4 years old already. Haha. And yes alot of things have happened during this span of years. Happy memories or bad experiences- All these contribute to the very person I've become today. My entries really make me think back and remember the good old days in TMS and TJC. The people that I've met. The friends I've made. For the good or bad? I'm in no position to judge. All I can say is that many people have entered my life and left. 所谓世上没有不散的宴席。All good things do have to come to an end. And I guess the memories left behind is something really worth treasuring. I guess that's a good reason for me to keep my blog alive. The little things in life that makes spending a few minutes blogging all seem worthwhile. Haha.

Alright so that's about it for now. YawnzZZ

Sunday, November 09, 2008

Friday suppose to go attend this TPT Hub West Anniversary celebration at DXO near Esplanade. Yes I went, but only for the attendance part. Haha. Oh and just loitered around with the Support guys before we smoked out. Poof! Haha. Anyway after that went to sing K with the Support guys and SP PC (Yikes!) at Marina KBox. Haha. Had a great time singing all night.

The very next day, which is yesterday, I went to K again! Haha. Now with besties Vin and John at Somerset. Haha. I controlled myself or else I would have lost my voice by today le. Haha. Anyway my weekend has been well spent. Finished my Soviet missions in RA3. Oh read another 1/8 of my book. And yes, I watched ALOT of TV as per normal. Haha. Oh and the JC peeps are having their exciting A levels now! Haha. A's... It feels as if it had just passed for me. Time really flies. Anyways it's a mere year or so to O.R.D.. And I can start being a relief teacher! Haha. Excited. Always wanted to know what teaching is like. Oh wells. 1 year! Haha.

Has been more than a month.

Packed my tonne of stuff.

PLC here I come.

Kangaroo!

Camp Growl

Me with Support and HQ guys

Me and WJ

MSU Platoon 1 and 2IC MWO Sathe Thas.. Haha
Have been spending quite some time reading "Hot, Flat and Crowded", and a slow reader I am, I only finished one-eighth of the book(a very thick one indeed.. Haha). Or rather, I've just read up on where we are now. Unless your an avid researcher on environmental issues, one would never guess the extent that our environment is damaged by each and every of our actions. It's a common fact that development damages our environment, and until today, we humans are unable to strike a balance between development and environmental conservation. But how many of us actually see the exact magnitude of the damage done to our environment? Perhaps because we are stuck in this tiny island of Singapore that we are unable to picture size accurately. To me, by just building the marina bay IRs, I feel that we are already destroying a large part of nature. But this pales in comparison to the damage done when China built the 3 Gorges Dam across the YangTze River. Then again, this is nothing as compared to the amount of land China has to clear in order to develop Beijing and Shanghai into the developed cities they are to day. This is just like comparing the size of an electron, to an atom, to an entire piece of metal. It's that big of a difference! And by doing so, I'm only comparing the extent of loss of land biodiversity and environment. What about the other aspects such as damage to our oceans, air and about the increasing amounts of waste produced and about energy demand, supply and damage?

I feel that our world is developing at a rate far beyong what our environment can cope with. This is evident with recent more-drastic-than-normal changes in the weather conditions and the rapid loss of biodiversity. Dramatic weather conditions such as Hurricane Katrina destroying millions of homes in the USA, the underwater earthquake leading to Tsunami in Indonesia, longer-than-ever droughts in Australia leading to widespread forest fires. All these are signs of the environment succumbing to the extensive and intensive damage that we are subjecting it to. These are all the results of our unintentional actions to make the a better place. We all choose to develop our cities in a bid to increase our people's standard of living and quality of life. But who would expect that this results in increased air pollution through vehicle exhaust, increased electricity consumption, and greater dependence on mechanisation, increased waste as people get wealthier and adopt more undesirable consumption habits and greater loss of biodiversity through clearing of land, extensive use of the sea( overfishing, increased shipping, etc). Ironically, it's because of their actions to improve the world that they speed up the destruction of the very place we live in, and hence reduce quality of life as a result.

In my opinion, we are facing such a problem because many key personnel in society lack the thorough understanding of the problem we are facing. On the surface, it may seem as if China's rapid economic expansion of up to 10% per annum since the year 2000 proves that China's development masterplan is one that is effective and has foresight. But it simply takes one visit to the more industrialised areas in China to destroy this entire dream-like senario in our minds. Looking at the state of its natural environment, I feel that something needs to be done, and it needs to be done really soon, before things go out of control. Ask any teenager on the streets and they would probably be able to tell you that there are already measures put into place- Kyoto Protocol, Montreal Protocol, Government initiatives to encourage renewable energy, etc. But to me, what we need now is not these plans. What we need now is concrete action. Some things need to be done now. That's why I would like to commend certain orgainisations and government that have brushed aside political and economic pressures and pushed for environmental conservation.

The Netherlands
This is the country that places the greatest emphasis on the development and use of renewable energy. Such energy sources range from wind, solar, thermal, heat pumps, biomass to hydroelectricity. Currently about 10% of their total energy is met using these renewable sources. Although the Netherland does not own the largest rivers, the greatest land surface area, nor produce the most waste, the amount of energy they derive from these sources are the most. They do not have the highest GDP per capita, but still they are the most environmental friendly country. So much for the stereotype that such renewable energy requires massive funds. This is done by the two-way understanding between the people and the government. The understanding of the people reduces the level of political pressure faced by the government when they plan their budget at the start of every fiscal year. The government also increase employment through the operation of these high technology operations and they see the use of renewable energy and the greater ability to save the environment a milestone for the country and a mark of a highly developed state. I totally agree to it and commend its efforts and ability to stick by it through thick and thin.

Hyflux, Singapore
This is the company that is responsible for the developement of reverse osmosis, an essential process that allows waste water to be recycled into potable water. This drastically reduced Singapore's dependence on imported water from Malaysia and Indonesia. This comes at a perfect time when Malaysia is trying to raise the price of water sold to us. This method of obtaining drinkable water is still not as cheap as it should be, but it still beats desalination that is more expensive and pollutive. Although Singapore's action seems to have a political agenda behind it, I feel that it would be more appropriate to say that Singapore has took another crucial step towards environmental conservation. To add on, this advancement has allowed Singapore to take the lead in water management technology. Never would anyone expect such a tiny country to soon be self sufficient i water even without a fresh water source, but with this technology being further researched upon, it's won't be long before that happens.

The above are just 2 examplary examples of environmental conservation in each of their own fields. Very often it's when a country lacks something that they push for the development of it. Singapore lacks water, and hence pushed for greater water technology. Holland lacks crude oil and hence it pushes for renewable energy technology. It now seems as if these efforts are some what driven by economic and political factors. Once again, there's an irony. It's because of political and economic factors that many people and government do not dwell into research to protect our environment, but it's also because of these same 2 factors that accelerate their advancement in these fields. And this is what makes people think and go nuts, perhaps. Haha. I love how everything in this world is inter-linked. The link between science, engineering, environment, business, economics, politics.. The complexes the issue of environmental conservation, but it also makes it more exciting and this allows for people from different fields to associate with, bringing people together and pushing towards greater conservation of the environment. The vey place we live in.

Alright, these are just some of my thoughts on reading the book and perhaps the book would shed more light on the difficulties and problems of environmental conservation and economics development. But till then, that's all! =D

Today finally went to sing k with Vin and Shan. Has been quite a long time since I ast sang with them. Haha. Anyways really had a great time. Oh and i managed to borrow Mayday's CD from Vin, so that saves me like 20 bucks buying the album. Haha. Oh I couldn't find Red Alert 3! I went throughout town searching for it but it's like sold out everywhere! So depressed lah. Haha. Gonna go Parkway or Tamp these couple of days to check it out. Haha. I could really spend my off playing some good games. Haha. Saw a couple of guys from my unit at PS. Guess it's the most frequent hangout spot. Haha. Or maybe pure coincidence. Haha.

Oh Ye Wei's going Thailand today (From what I heard from Vin..) ! So yea hope ya have a safe and enjoyable overseas training experience! Jia You!

Anyways I'm off to enjoy my entire week of off-in-lieu. Haha. Cheers!

Ah.. Feels good to be back in Singapore. Alright, all I can say was that the experience in Australia was a good one. Different terrain, climate, culture and everything. The going do get tough, but it's something I am proud to have gone through and I can say that the 26 days had been quite well spent. Haha.

Anyways, back to the sunny island of Singapore. Yesterday touched down at around 4am, went to shop at the DFS and headed straight home after that. Kinda suffered from abit of jet lag. Haha. Anyways yesterday night went to grandpa's house to celebrate his birthday. There was a crowd and yea I kinda hate crowds. Haha. But that's not the point. Anyway, there was good food (I didn't eat much though, ate too much during R&R le.. haha), and chit chatted with my relatives whom I've not met up with in a LONG time. Yes almost a year. Haha. Oh and they can actually mistake me for my bro. Hmm. Is that a good thing? Haha. Anyway, I headed home pretty early coz everyone was tired from everything. Haha. So the day ended there.

Today woke up pretty late. Went to help at my dad's shop before going off to meet Wei Chong to pass him a few CDs and lunch. Haha. After that went to Parkway to do some shopping. Bought a new book entitled "Hot, Flat and Crowded" by Thomas Friedman. It's a non-fiction book about Climate crisis and all the greeny environmental stuff. It's something that most people my age wouldn't read for leisure, but heh, I do find it darn interesting. Haha. Weird me. Anyways I also bought 3 new CDs. They are 为你而活 by 神木与瞳, 魔杰座 by 周杰伦 and Sixology by 林俊杰. Haha. Just one month away and so many new albums are out. Haha. Spent quite abit but heh! It's been a month man! Hahaz.

It just feels good to be home. =D

26 (Dreaded) Days gone in a flash..

I'M BACK! (Alive..)

Sunday, September 28, 2008

The best damn song I've heard in a long time. Haha. 刘力扬 is really good man. Enjoy! 7 days to Ex. Wallaby!

Sunday, September 21, 2008

Yesterday went to meet up with john n vincent for dinner. Betsy and Nerd supposed to meet up too, but too bad last minute can't make it. lol. Anyway I was somewhat on a binge yesterday. The thought of eating combat ration for the next 4 days just makes mt stomach rumble even more. lol. ATEC's this coming week and i guess its gonna be one hell of an outfield. Haha. Alright enough of army. Anyways I went to eat at Aji-Tei at PS (not me). The food there's damn good man. Haha. Ended up eating like a paper steamboat, curry rice, hotplate potato.. and macha icecream. LOL. Its only after i ordered that i realised that i ordered a tad too much. Haha. But who cares. I ate them all anyways. Haha. After that just went to walk around PS. Bought a book entitled " The Last Lecture" by Prof Randy Pausch. He's a lecturer from Carnagie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He was suffering from the terminal stage of pancreatic cancer and was asked to give his last lecture at the university. Most people would expect someone dying to give his last lecture on issues such as how he cope with the disease etc. But no. That wasn't what he lectured about. It was about living childhood dreams. Talking about his life experiences. Very moivational book. And the very fact that it was his last words yet it sounded so optimistic with the burning passion to live life to the very last minute, flooded me with emotions beyond description. It was also about work-life balance and the sacrifices one have to make in life. These are things that form the very basis of living a happy life. And the best thing is that I've only read the first 3 chapters. It's that good. Makes me wanna read one as soom as i can man.

It made me realise that some things in life are definitely worth treasuring. Simple things such as friendships, relationships, kinship. And yes, there are many things in life that is fated. Superstitious or Real. I choose to believe. And hence, I believe that some things that are not meant to be will never be. Everything happens for a reason and I would want to believe that everything good that happens is to be treasured, while anything bad that happens is a step essential for future happiness. The unpredictability of life, the excitement of life, the passion for life. Aren't they all the same?

Anyways later probably gonna send Karl off to Australia. Guess he's going there to be a pilot. Congrats dude and wish ya the best! Jia you!

Lol. I, too, is going Australia in 2 weeks time for training. Should be on the 5th. Haha. It's gonna be a very busy 2 weeks ahead b4 Australia. so I guess this blog would probably be left empty till like 6 weeks time. So till then.. chow!

Sunday, September 14, 2008

Alright I've changed my blogskin back to this simplistic one. Yes everything has been changed, except it being orange. Haha. Changes. They are part and parcel of everyday life. Nothing remains the same over time. But looking on the bright side, changes tend to be for the better. Or maybe that my sole opinion. I wonder.

Anyways, last week went to meet up with Xuan Ping and quite a few of the MSU guys. Yea he's got back his pink IC and is going to Beijing University to study econs on a PSC scholarship. So cool right. Haha. Anyways, we met up at Dhoby Ghaut and had lunch at Ajisen Ramen. Haha. Nice to be with the guys away from army. There's so much segregation and politics in camp. Such peace is hard to come by and yea, I treasure it. Haha. After that went to play pool and arcade. Supposed to play lan after that, but I went off earlier to meet up with John and Betsy. Oh wish Xuan Ping all the best in his studies! Oh and he will ORD in like 6 years! Wahahaha. I'm such a bitch. LOL.

Haha. Watched Make it Happen with them at Cine. Hahaz. Quite nice show except that its very short. LOL. After that went to makan Pepper Lunch with them plus Vincent. Haha. Very nice to meet up with my besties for a meal. Really miss those JC days! Oh yah, after that went to shop for Vin's bro's present. Supposed to attend his wedding the next day. Shop for quite a long time, not knowing what to buy, I finally decided to share a nice box of chocs with john. Haha.

Now here comes the twist. After I went home mum told me that my great grandma's death anniversary was the next day! And that all my relatives would be coming over for breakfast and lunch! And i HAD to be there coz my great grandma used to 疼 me the most. Haha. So once again, I had to pang seh john and gang. Didn't go for the wedding. So sorry dude! I sooo owe u a meal! Haha. Sorry to Vin too. Initially agreed to turn up but didn't go last minute. Paiseh yea. I feel damn bad.

Anyways this week's a long weekend. Because Friday's a forced company block leave. So yea. Woke up pretty early to follow my Bro to deliver his mooncakes. Yes he drove, if not i would never have followed him. LOL. His Hall stuff is like squeezing every ounce of energy out of him man. So much crap to do, how to concentrate on studying? Haha. After that went to send my coveralls to the army shop for some sewing. Haha. Friday was such a rushed leave so didn't really plan things to do. Haha. Anyways spent the rest of my day slacking at home.

Oh yea, I bought 梁静茹 new album: 今天情人天. It's a damn nice album! It's a few songs from the older alum but mostly new and live songs. Damn nice. Oh have i ever mentioned that her live performance songs exactly the same as the CD. She's THAT good. Haha. Some song really worth listening is 今天情人节,如果能在一起,崇拜,诱惑的街,梦醒时分 and C'est La Vie. Go listen. It's highly recommended!

Then yeaterday went over to my aunt's house for family gathering. Really enjoyed it man. Good food, good wine, good ambience, good people. What else can I ask for man! Haha. We had a guy to guy talk, literally (Coz my paternal cousins are all guys!). Had great time watching soccer, F1 and yea BOLLYWOOD movies! It was great! Oh and my oldest cousin is getting engaged this year and married next year. Haha. He's only 24 lahz. But god damn it, he's a high flier. Gifted student, RJC, Lawyer. Wow. Haha. Anyways my best wishes. Don't know the exact date yet. Hope I don't miss it coz im going Oz in October. Haha. Everything was nice that night. Next gathering would be at my Uncle's house. So nice. So looking forward to it. =D

And to my bro, go for it dude! Don't let a bad experience hinder your way! Jia You! =D

Oh and to Gerry, Happy Birthday dude! Haven't meet up with u in a long time. But anyways wish u all the best!

Nothing much has happened these few weeks. In camp, after the series of terrible outfields, its back to preparation for Australia. Lots of stuff to prepare and everything, its gonna be tough. Haha. Looking back, it has been quite a while since i enlisted. 15122007. The very day when i enlisted. Now its 31082008. Wow has been a good 8.5 months. Haha. But as compared to my specs and officers in camp, it's a long way man. Haha. Things have been rather repetitive every since i got into MSU. To some extent, I kinda feel that my brain has been rapidly degrading ever since. No no, it should be ever since i enlisted. Everyday to me is another day closer to bookout (A.k.a. freedom). Gotta start doing something soon. Haha. At least for me, getting into Armour has somewhat assured my interest in engineering- creating and improving on things.

Despite so, there's something missing in my life at the moment, and I've got no idea what it is. Strange isn't it. I feel this deep sense of emptiness and sometimes, I would think if it's regret.

Regret about putting no to command school? Maybe. Sometimes I do wonder what life would be like if i did enter command school. Haha.
Regret about not applying for medicine? Maybe. The prospective of being a doctor is fantastic enough for me not to imagine.
Regret about not putting in effort for my scholarship interview? Maybe. The temptation of not having to pay for my education is too much. And the free cash.. Damn.
Regret about not applying for overseas university? Maybe. The prestige and freedom, away from the stresses of the local education system. Why not?

Regret Regret Regret. It's a terrible thing to feel. And I hate it. At every stage in life, one would tend to look back and say to one-self. What if.. What if.. What if.. Too many of these "what if" is terrible, but one can't help but think this way. I know I have to be contented with my life but never once did I stop thinking about what would life be IF I took another route in life. Too tempting. Haiz. This continuous thoughts of possibilities is causing distraught to my mind. So perhaps my 19th Birthday wish could simply be for everyone including myself to be satisfied with the present and believe in the decisions that one make. It's no point regretting in life I guess. Life's too short for that. Minus away such negative thoughts and life seems so much lighter and brighter doesn't it? Haha.

Oh and big thanks to my bunkmates for celebrating my birthday in camp! Haha. Really appreciate it. (minus the taupok! HAHA)

The last 1 week plus has been pretty xiong bah. Haha. First went for a 3 days 2 nights field camp from last Monday to Thursday. That was pretty horrid. Drove till my eyes nearly popped out sia. Haha. Plus I was sick then. Got cold again. Darn it. Anyways had to endure through. Went for a 2nd field camp from Saturday to Monday morning. Yes i missed National Day! I was busy feeding the mosquitoes outfield. Totally retarded. Like Li Wen puts it, I'm contributing to the nation's mosquitoes, so I'm actually doing something for the nation too. LOL. Anyways, the 2nd outfield totally worsened my cold, cough, etc. Lucky got to book out on Monday noon. So yup, went to the doc to get some medication before I die from bronchitis. LOL. All the sand eating's terrible. Anyways booking in tomorrow morning at 7.30am. My god! That means I have to leave the house by 5.30am. Not exactly very ideal. Haha. Heck it. One more night at home is a good thing. Will book out again on Friday evening. Very fast week only because they ate my National Day away *sulks!*. LOL.

Anyways Uni has started for most people (or rather all those that matriculated this year). I guess everyone's gonna be busy with work and everything. BUT I want to get out of house soon! Hahaz. So many things i want to do and buy. Haven't gone out with my JC friends in quite a while. Haha. Anyways so thats about all for now. Cya to all. =D

I'm really bored at home now. Just booked out yesterday night. This week has been pretty bad. In camp, many things didn't go as well, which explains that cancellation of the 2 days of leave. And hence, i haven't collected my sgc from tjc yet. Oh and I gotta apologize to Ye Wei. Supposed to collect the sgc for him too. Haha. Paiseh. Anyways next week gonna be a hectic week. Gonna be confined over the weekend due to advance training with 3 SIR. Haiz. It's gonna be outfield almost everyday of the week, and the next time I'm gonna be out of camp would be the following Tuesday night i guess. Nothing exciting happened this week. Oh I couldn't make it for Wan Yee's BBQ because i booked out late yesterday. Sorry about it. Meet up some other time k! Alright nothing much to blog about this week, hope next week would turn out fine. =D

Another week has passed. Friday was a tough day, low-loaded the vehicles to Mandai Hill Camp. Thats where i will be going daily for 3days starting Monday, where 1 SIR is located. It's going to be a really long week though. I've got live-firing this Sunday, so my weekend's burnt! Oh damn it. I hate this. But at least next Monday's an off-in-lieu for me. Time to collect my SGC and A levels Certificate from tjc. Really looking forward to going back to tjc, the place in which I enjoyed the best 2 years of my life.

Anyways yesterday went out with john and betsy most of the afternoon. (coz Vin's stuck in camp doing guard duty!) Went to watch Wanted at GV Marina Square. Pretty nice, lots of deception and violence. LOL. Quite a good plot. Lets just say it's enjoyable. =D After that the 3 of us went to play pool because we had to wait for Cui Xia to knock off before going dinner together. Ate at Fins Seafood cafe. Haha. The food was pretty good and it wasn't that pricey. Haha. After that the of us had a good stroll down Singapore River. Had a good talk with them and yea, it's moments like this that make us reflect about life. Thanks for the company guys!

Alright here are some pictures and a video..

过后便与朋友们看了一场电影-You Can‘t Mess with the Zohan 这部电影真好。

[EMO] Human inter-personal relationship is such a sophisticated matter. It's hard to understand how it works. Group dynamics, friendship, relationship, kinship.. can be such a hassle. Frustration and sadness.. Happiness and delight.. Inevitable perhaps? [END oF EMO]

This week has been pretty lax. Had the energy and discipline to run 4km everyday. Kinda proud of myself. OM course ended a week earlier, and i managed to pass the test! Amazing. Anyways 7 July is the start of 1SIR mobilization. Going over to Mandai Camp soon. So i guess these 2 weeks of preparation is going to be quite tiring. Oh wells, it's about time though.

Saturday, June 14, 2008

Alright, I'm out of camp again, ever so punctually on friday. Ok I'm supposed to be in today but because my platoon 1 is having an exercise today. But I haven't gone through the some training that the others have gone through, so yup, here I am at home. OM course has been pretty relaxing but really dirty and messy. Learnt a lot about my vehicle. It's probably good because the course warrant officer is damn nice. I'm serious. Haha. He's impossibly nice. Totally enjoyable.

But ONE spec just have to screw my week up. Alright he's the epitome of disgust, atrocity and brainlessness. Oh mind god. Shall not comment too much lest I'm "charged" but he just ridiculous. Just a word of advice to THAT spec. Stop acting like such a big shot and threatening your men. Unit does not equate to School. If you demand for respect from us, men, then do things that are worth our respect, and not exploit power. Threats, double-standards, exclusiveness, minding everyone's business unnecessarily and in my opinion, being totally unfit, is totally NOT the way to gain respect.

Alright, enough of wasting my blog space commenting on such an idiot. I went for the Exxon Mobil interview on Monday afternoon. 2LT Poh (who is now my PC) was nice enough to grant me off-pass despite being on course. Really appreciate it. Ok, the interview was really nerve-wrecking. It's only 2 interviewers, unlike those PSC interviews that includes more than 10 interviewers. There was one Chemical Engineer and one Manager. So there's practically no way that I could bullshit through the interview, which lasted around an hour. I was blasted with questions from almost every field I could think of. Think I did fairly well for things on environment conservation, politics, engineering. However, they questioned things on leadership which was on my testimonials ad references. That was quite tough to answer and yea I could say that I screwed that up. Following that was the prepared presentation. I was glad that they found my presentation "really good" and could see the amount of effort put into it. I really appreciate it because I really burnt my weekend for it. Thought that the interview was a decent one, but thought that I could do so much better. Hope they would select me for the next round of selection. Really want this Exxon Mobil Scholarship.

Oh this week was filled with night PT sessions. Ran almost everyday. Thanks to my bunkmates for encouraging me to keep and run. Haha. Or else I would never be discipline enough to do so. Went for Nights out on Thursday. Went to watch Kungfu Panda with my bunkmates. Haha. Yes 4 guys went to the theatre filled with kids to watch Kungfu Panda. Haha. Anyways it's a damn good movie man! It was pure lame-ness and laughter. Although it sort of have a very kiddy plot(a.k.a. brainless plot), but it's very nice if you're feeling down or sad. Highly recommend this show man! Haha

Reading the papers, there have been 2 cases for NS men deaths in just 3 days. Guess thats a huge blow to NS and someone would have to take the blame. Trainings would be reduced.(to me delight! LOL)

Hope everything turns out fine.

Sunday, June 08, 2008

Yesterday went to have lunch with Vin, Shan, Bernard, Qihui and Ye Wei! Yes He's finally out from SAFTI MI. Haha. Officer to be. Ok, didn't really do much, just shopped around Bugis area before settling down at Seoul Garden to have steamboat lunch! Had a really full lunch. Had to rush home after that to do up my presentation required by Exxon Mobil. At least its nice that the topics given are pretty much what I will do in a GP exam. Haha. Alright then, that should be about all for now. Next week's the start of OM course in camp, hope it's gonna be fun. Oh and I'm now CSM driver! LOL. And wish me luck for my interview and presentation with Exxon Mobil tmr!

Me with ye wei =D

I've got accepted by both NUS and NTU and yea, i accepted the NUS one. Will be studying Chemical Engineering and Accountancy at NUS in 2010. But somehow, I still don't feel at ease. Something's bothering me and making me sulky. Hmm..

ExxonMobil finally called me for interview.

Mothers' Day's this Sunday.

Oh and today's Vicki's brithday! Happy Birthday Gal! Hope ya have fun!m =D

BAD WEEK!

Crappy weekend. Just when I thought that I could enjoy my long weekend, I actually caught a cold which then evolved into a horrible fever. It started on Thursday actually, but i just endured throughout the last leg of my course. Was having terrible headaches then. Oh well. What can I do. But at least my fevers almost subsided by now, but my throat still hurts. Damn. Can't enjoy good food this weekend. Sianz. I hate it. And yes, I missed Zulu PL4 S4 outing! Haiz! Terrible.

-_-zZZ

Saturday, April 12, 2008

What a long week it has been. Have been spending my entire week driving at Sungei Gedong Camp. Outfield everyday, sometimes till late at night. Anyways, it has been pretty alright. Did pretty well for all my tests so i guess i shouldn't have much prob getting my licence. Booked out late yesterday, but my parents were nice enough to fetch me home. =D Yup, fetched Ryan and Lieutenant Poh( Yes, the PC i saw at PS) home too, as they happen to live nearby. Haha. Anyways there's really nothing much to do at home these days. Bro's busy with the upcoming exams and parents are at work as usual. Sianz. But then again, I'm not too bothered by it. Perhaps I'm someone who needs a lot of personal space. This upcoming week would be an easier one i guess. The programme's not as packed as this week so i guess it's fine.

Oh yah, yesterday received message from junjie saying TJC did very well for PW! About 88% 'A' grades! Congrats dude! And congrats to my Alma-mater too. A great bounce back from last year's 7% 'A' grade. Fantastic. Congrats to adeline too. Got her A. Good start to the A's. Jia You!

Quite looking forward to going out with my good buddies later. =D

Sunday, April 06, 2008

I'm back! Its been pretty good at MSU so far. Shan't dwell on the details too much due to confidentiality. My bunkmates are fine. Nothing special. But i still miss my buddies from Zulu Coy. Haha. Oh and i realise that all my buddies so far are from SAJC. In Zulu it was Kah Fai and now it's Jia Hao. Such coincidence.

Alright have been going out with 01 people for both weeks. Last week went PS and around Orchard area to have dinner and shop with them. Oh and i saw one of my MSU PCs at PS. Haha. Thank god he didn't recognise me. Then yesterday went to makan with Vincent and Shan at Vivo. After that managed to shop a while. Bought the new game Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. Haha. Wei Lip told me that it was out so i went to look it up. Damn cool game. Guess i will be stuck at it for quite some time. Haha. Alright then i bought the silicon casing for my ipod nano too. It's ORANGE! LoL. I also bought a book entitled " A Thousand Splendid Suns" by Khaled Hosseini. It's about poverty in Iraq and the discrimination that they face. It's fictional but I thought it would be interesting to understand other people's stand on such issues. But the most important thing is that I've really got to read more. I've got many interviews coming up. The earliest being NUS Biz School Interview on 21 April. Got to be more prepared in case they ask. Haha. I think I'm such a realist. Then perhaps I've got to prepare for the NUS and ExxonMobil Scholarships too. Interviews are such a hassle. Haha. But since i applied I've got to stick by them and go for them.

Alright looks like it's gonna be a long week ahead. Looking forward to bookouts. Time please travel faster?

Going to SISPEC camp but not going SISPEC. Wahahaha. Not that i want anyways. I guess I'm also gonna be a tankee like Kah Fai and Tarun. Just that their tanks are much larger. -_-" Anyway I proved PC Yeo wrong. He asked me on the last night of BMT if i ever see a 7As driver, and here I am, a sort of driver. Haha. Ironic isn't it? Alright, hope that it will be a good job.

Anyways have been desperately meeting up with friends these couple of days. On friday went to Bryan's house together with PL4S4 people. Haha. Yea, quite fun. Had lots of food and rubbish talking. I always like the idea of putting yi hui, yi xiang and frankie as buddies in SISPEC. Hmm, the smell. (anyone in PL4 would know what i mean. Haha) Alright after that went down from Newton area to Parkway to meet 4E people. Had dinner with them. After that went to play pool, which i apparently sucked at (yet i still won coz adam and meiying kept getting the black ball in the wrong hole. Haha) Alright that about enough activities for that day.

Sat invited TMS ARC people to my house for dinner. Oh mind I had pizza again. Haha. Have been eating alot these days. Alright then we went video EZ get DVD to watch. Borrowed Zodiac to watch. Apparently its super long movie that has no ending. Haha. Watch till kel and ade neck pain sia. ahah. Oh yah supposed to go out with 01 people too, but too bad clash. Haha. Alright maybe another day bahz.

It has been a pretty eventful week of break. Haha. Looks like i won't have much of such breaks in the near future. Haha. Now to look forward to the next weekend...

Life's hasn't been all that exciting since POP. Alright, at least I've got more freedom. Have been playing lots of computer games. On friday went back tjc to meet Mrs Lim (VP). Haha. Asked her for a favour of writing me a letter of recommendation for scholarship. Mrs Aileen Lim also agreed to help me. So yea, really big thank you to them. =D Oh yah, I also need to thank Ms Sim for help me certify all my certificates. Haha. Made her sign like 90 times for both me and john. So that makes 180 times? Haha, it's around that figure. After that had lunch with john. Oh yah sorry yewei! Forget to ask you along to certify the certs! BUT then again, it's not my fault because john forgot too!

Sunday was alright. In the morning went to Ang Mo Kio to visit my maternal grandparents. Haven't seen them for ages. Had some talk and then went for lunch with my bro and parents at Thomson. Haha. Brings back old memories. I can fondly remembered when I was a kid, my parents used to bring me to Sentosa, Zoo and all those places pretty often. And for some reason, we always end up at this restaurant in Thomson. Haha. Guess my parents weren't exactly intrigued by the word "variety". Alright, the food was as good anyway, after not going there for at least 10 years. Anyways after that Dad fetched me to NUS open house. Met up with john, ye wei and vincent. Hmm, I realised that the open house hasn't changed a single bit since 2007. It was quite a waste of time actually. My only reason for going there is to find out if NUS Global Merit Scholarship would allow me to do a double degree. I guess it was more useful for john and yewei. The lady introducing Pharmacy was pretty good actually. She gave me quite a good understanding about the course. I was so tempted to change my course of study. But too bad, they didn't offer DD. So forget it bahz. After that because we were so truly bored there, we decided go find a place to chill out. Lol. So there we went, half way through the island to simei to slack. Settled down at Starbucks to have coffee and my blueberry muffin! Haha. Have been wanting to eat some sinful stuff ever since I POPed. After that all of us had to go home for dinner. LOL. I reserve most of my Sundays for family because I don't really spend much time with my family ever since I enlisted.

Looking forward to meeting my other groups of people that I haven't seen in quite a while! N my bunkmates!=D

P.S. Vincent! Faster POP lah!

Thursday, March 13, 2008

BMT is finally over! I'm now a private! Haha. For some reason, i don't feel all that excited. Maybe I'm beginning to miss my buddies in ZULU Coy already. Every morning I wake up, the first people you see are bunkmates. But today, i woke up and the first person i saw is my maid instead. LOL. It just feels weird.

Anyway, I'm happy that I finally have the chance to meet up with friends and family. Haven't had the luxury to do much of so ever since i enlisted. Haha. Oh yes and there is university admission. I applied for NUS Chemical Engineering and Accountancy Double Degree and NTU Chemical Engineering and Economics Double Degree. Not too sure if I can cope but I feel that it's definitely worth the try. Also, applied for 2 scholarships that I really want. NUS Global Merit Scholarship and ExxonMobil Public Scholarship. Did up a lot of the paper work yesterday. Now just short of letters of recommendation, which Mrs Aileen Lim was nice enough to promise me. My only reason for applying for a scholarship is not to make my parents pay for my university education. This perhaps would give me some degree of financial independence too. Haha. No idea if I would get it, just trying my luck. Competition's stiff this year. Hope everything turns out nice and fine.

Having dinner with my bunkmates at Pizza Hut at Tampines

The few of my bunkmates on the MRT

Has almost been a good 3 weeks in camp coz of the field camp and extra confinement. Seems like a million years. Anyway lot of things have happened since then. So much so that i do not know where to start. I don't know whether to be happy or not. I'm sort of confused. And so this year's new year's the quietest one in a long time. Yes it's really quiet. I too am not going visiting. So my CNY is basically spent rotting at home. Sianz. And I'm booking in so soon. Haiz. This is so destroying the festive mood. Forget it.

On the brighter side I'm meeting up with 01 people tmr before i book in. Hope it's gonna be a gd day tmr.=D

Sunday, January 06, 2008

Yesterday was a big rush. After i booked out from camp, bro came to pick me up and then we went for lunch. Supposed to meet vin, betsy n john at 4pm at someset. But apparently i was super late le. So i took a cab down there only to realise that they are even later then me! Actually betsy was earlier. N u know what? I stood beside her at the MRT station without even realising that she was just beside. LOL! Quite retarded. N to think that we messaged each other although we were only 0.5m apart. Hahahz. Anyways no one was super late, which was quite a surprise. Haha. Next we made our way to Kbox at cineleisure. Obviously to sing. Hahahz. John was dying to sing lah. Since he's enlisting on thursday, so he's the main character yesterday. Hahaz. Sang for damn long without even realising lah, Or maybe i was tired so didn't really take note. Sang from like 5 to 9pm. Hahaz. It was damn fun lah! N yes, vincent's the lead singer. Sang for sooooo long without losing his voice! Hahaha. Then suddenly Li Wen called me and asked if i wanted to meet them at Parkway for dinner. Then she suddenly passed the phone to Adam. So paiseh! I forgot that it was Adam's Birthday! Soooo sorry lah. Hahahz. Make up to u guys another day kz! (coz i felt bad to pangseh the rest at cineleisure) But anyway Happy 19th Birthday!

After that went for dinner at Wisma Atria. After that took a long walk with them to Plaza Singapura before parting from there. Hahaz. Had a really good day yesterday. Hmm.. wonder when will be the next time we meet. Perhaps after my field camp. Sianzzz. Anyway still lookng forward to bookouts and outings!

Tuesday, January 01, 2008

Back for my new year hols. Army has been rather expected. But the aches are gradually decreasing (which is a gd sign!) but the food is getting worst. Lol. I think there are lots of surprises in army coz everyday is something new (except the food), and guess its a gd break from studying. Ok enough of army nonsense, back to my civilian life.

Yesterday spent the whole day out. In he morning when to Eastpoint to get my phone back. Had to get it unlocked. Quite retarded actually. But thats not the worst part. I had to wait like 2 hrs just to get my phone back, despite going so early. After that supposed to go meet vincent and gang at PS. Initially i thought i was late. Yes. I ran like madness only to realize Ye Wei was on the same train as me and only Yan Shan reach le. LOL. Can't stand it sia, They are always late. Oh wells, i kinda got used to it le. Anyways after met with joe, natha, vin, betsy, john, shan and went to ichiban sushi for lunch. I think my appetite has grown tremendously ever since i enlisted. Ate like crazy. Lol. Anyways after that went to Cathay to buy movie tix. After that yewei, natha, joe and john went to the arcade for some fun while me, vin, betsy and shan went to TCC for coffee. Hahaz. Chatted alot. Army creates alot of interesting stories to talk about. So after a while dahlia and cuixia came to meet us. So we went to watch National Treasures at Cathay. Quite a gd show bahz. Hahaz. Ok so after that i was afraid that the army shop is closed 2dae, so me and vin took a cab down to beach road to get the stuff. Bought an entire bag of rubbish. Haha. Oh i realised that they are open even on public holidays. Damn. Anyway after that ate dinner there before taking a cab back to PS to meet the rest. After that actually wanted to go to the board games cafe to chill out. But it was full. So went to play pool instead. All of us like off form except betsy i guess. Hahaz. Anyway had fun.
